Review update: I've always liked coming to Mason Jar for their burgers. They're always great but tonight I was extra hungry so I ordered a "side" of coleslaw with my takeout order. I asked if the size of a side was for an individual or if it was meant to share. The woman taking my order said there was only one size side and it is meant for one person. When I arrived to pick up my order I was shocked to hear that the bill for a bacon cheeseburger with a side of coleslaw came to a grand total of $21+! The reason for this was the coleslaw. A whopping $6 for a colossal container. I understand the concept of "charge more, give more" but this takes it to a new level. What I was expecting was a 1-3oz side. What I got was more like half a pound! The $6 side charge was almost half the price of my meal! Needless to say I will not be buying anymore "sides" from Mason Jar. Another small but noticeable thing about this meal was the change from getting a generously sized pickle spear to a couple of quarter sized pickle chips. Another attempt to squeeze the customer for a few more pennies. @Joel and Ira, you may not think we notice things like this...but we notice. You have a very loyal customer base and things like overcharging for "one size only" sides and the pickle stunt do alter our perception of your business. read more

Their website for online ordering provides no descriptions of menu items. They forgot the toppings for my burgers, include $$ add-on toppings. Very disappointed. Definitely never going here again. I cannot reply back to the comment below. This is what the menu online looks like. Yes, I would assume "burger add" however where is the lettuce and regular onion on there? Those are very basic burger toppings. I have never ordered from a restaurant that asks you to click what you do not want. If that is the case, then I should've received everything under the "burger no" category except for the lettuce, tomatoes, onions that I did click for. It breaks our hearts to give Mason Jar a poor review. My wife and I first met at Mason Jar. We've had many great evenings with friends and family, and the food is often very good. First I'll preface this with the understanding that all businesses are suffering right now with a lack of talent. It has obviously hit many restaurants and food service establishments. Service at the Mason Jar has been on a very slow decline and tonight capped it off for us. Our server was inattentive, forgot parts of our order, and needed to be asked multiple times for things like straws or napkins. After waiting over 90 minutes for our entrees, some of the food came out cold - a baked potato had a pat of butter that wouldn't melt. The windows were open and a screen was broken so there were flies hovering around our table the entire time. The evening sun came right into the window at our table but some of window shades were missing. After we asked for the check, we were then asked if we wanted the ice cream that came included with one of the meals; we declined as it was now 2 1/2 hours since we sat down and we have a small child who was running up on bedtime. The biggest slap in the face was that Mason Jar has now added a forced 20% gratuity on any check; we were a group of 4 and a baby. This is simply outrageous. We always give 20% or more for good service but this night, it really should have been 10-15%. During past meals, the owner or manager would walk around asking how the meals are; we wondered aloud where he was this evening. As we left, he was near the doorway and asked. We were honest, and were told "the B Team" staff was on tonight, the hostess (who appeared confused when we first entered the establishment) had to be sent home because she got 3 To Go orders wrong, and that he is struggling to hire good help. As I opened with, we understand that businesses are going through a difficult time, but some are managing to make it work and even thrive. Our fingers are crossed that Mason Jar will eventually turn things around, but for now our dollars will be spent elsewhere. read more

Came here for the brunch buffet on a Sunday afternoon. Food: There was a huge selection of foods, both lunch and breakfast (i would say more breakfast heavy) but that's totally cool with me. I had mashed potatoes, bacon, Taylor Ham, mac and cheese, and a whole bunch of other stuff. They had an omelet station where an employee will cook one for you, which was delicious. There was definitely more than enough food to choose from and it was all hot and quickly filled once anything got low which was nice. The mimosa which was included tasted great. Atmosphere: Everything seemed clean, including the floors and tables. I did not use the bathroom. The bar area seems cool with vaulted ceilings. Service: Waitress was nice, she got us drinks quickly and made sure we understood some of the specialty items we could order included in the buffet, they just needed to cook and did not have out. Overall i was happy with my experience, i have never been here before and it was a pleasure. I think the total cost was about $22/person i can't really remember but it was good and if you are looking for a nice brunch buffet to hit with the family, that is casual and easy, I'd recommend this. read more

Food is great - had a delicious medium rare mason burger and a side of crunchy and juicy onion rings. We sat under the tent and it was a beautiful Sunday morning, The service was a little slow at first as they had a sudden wave of people show up all at once, but the waitress and manager both apologized and explained how short staffed they were. I really appreciated that and the effort they made to try to get us the food as quickly as possible and make sure we got everything we needed! Both managers rolled up their sleeves and got to it and I love seeing that kind of management. If you or anyone needs a job, pls consider helping these guys out. My boyfriend and I ate here last night for dinner. I've lived in the area for years and finally got around to trying the place. The atmosphere was a bar/pub type of place. Good place to get a quick bite. I had the chicken club sandwich with a side salad. He had a barbecue dish which he said wasn't bad. The macaroni and cheese was velveta and didn't have much flavor. Overall the service was good but they forgot his soup. No need to devalue a place, staff and ratings for a accident. We will happily come back in the future for the soup :) read more

I've ordered food for delivery for my son and his roommate. My son is gluten free and since i need the food delivered i had to use grub hub. The good thing is that they have a place for special instructions, the bad side is that they don't read it. 2 times I've asked for a gluten free meal substituting the french fries with smashed potatoes. The cheesesteak came on a gluten free bun but the order came with the french fries. I called and was offered a credit (if i call grub hub) for the french fries. This place has became such a disappointment !! I used to come here all the time for their Sunday brunch , and it was something everybody would rave about !! I went here recently to be disappointed by the extreme downsize in the brunch .. they went from an entire catered room , to one egg station , and one table with bacon , sausage , Mac and cheese , chicken fingers and hash browns and I think some dry bagels .. it was atrocious!! You see better buffets as a complimentary breakfast at hotels!! The reason they gave me for the change was the cost of food prices .. BEWARE!!! We had the BBQ tonight and noticed mold in the cap of the "home made" BBQ sauce! The waiter, who was horrified, advised the owner who never came to our table to address the situation. Instead, we were told they washed out the cap!!! When the owner heard us talking to the manager on the way out, yes there was an owner and two managers on site, he came over. We stated that we were shocked no one came over to our table to discuss our concerns. He said he was working his way over! LIE!! He was very argumentative telling us he didn't know what was in the cap but in his opinion it "WAS NOT mold"! Ira, thank you for replying to my post. I still stand by my "one star" as it remains the same, after all that's what this site is for. If you read my review again, you will notice that I clearly said it was not the waiter's fault. However, I should not have been mandated to leave an 18% tip when I felt it was not of merit (especially for brunch for two people). Perhaps give your patrons the opportunity to leave a tip they seem fair. I do appreciate the hard work contributed by your staff considering the 150-200 people they serve as per your statement. In my case however, a 10% tip would have been more than enough for the extent of service we received. I feel that tips of that magnitude should be assessed to larger parties as is the norm in other establishments. If you're trying to subsidize your staffs pay on the backs of your patrons, that is unfair. You should at least have it printed and/ or stated on the brunch menu. read more

I came to Mason Jar for lunch today and I ordered the Mushroom Swiss Burger. The buns were kind of crunchy and too large so that I couldn't even comfortably eat the burger. The patty, mushrooms, and Swiss were good. It would have been nice if the tomato slice (they only gave one slice) and lettuce had been put into the burger rather than sitting on the side. The burger came with fries, which were average at best. Our waiter was on his second day of the job, and he was friendly. The service speed was quite bad though, as I had to wait for a while for my food. The decor is unique and adds to a good atmosphere. I didn't go to Mason Jar at a time with live music, which I am sure makes for a great atmosphere. Overall, this place has slow service and average burgers to go with a decent atmosphere. Beware the bill. The price they have on the menu is not in sync with their computer. I ordered an 18 meal and was charged 25.4 or 40%. My wife meal was 21 but charged 25.4 or 22%. The reason I was given was that was "what in computer". The bill for both meals then changed to 21 each my wifes meal ws correct, but I was told I was wrong about mine. When I asked to see a menu I was stared at by the server. At the hostess stand I found a menu and confirmed it was 18. I then asked to see a manager, showed that individual both receipts and simply asked to be refunded the $3 difference. It was refunded and I was told that it was how it was entered in the computerR. This may sound pretty, but I didn't appreciate some one trying to make me doubt my memory. So. In conclusion Buyer beware. read more

used to be my favorite restaurant as a kid. literally celebrated tons of birthdays and got a personal pie from the kids menu. so unfortunate the place went downhill. yesterday was the last straw- i ordered a rueben to go, with no bread. when i got home, i was so excited and then disappointed to find the only thing in the container were some fries and a pile of plain corned beef. no sauce, no cheese, no sauerkraut. it was also dry. so. wouldn't recommend. read more

The staff was wonderful and the atmosphere was great. However, food timing is poor. The pizza kitchen is not coordinating the timing of pizzas with the kitchens appetizers and entrees. There were 3 of us eating at the bar. I ordered a baked brie appetizer and twin lobster tails. My friends ordered artichoke dip and personal pan pizzas. Their pizzas came out before their dip. My brie never showed up. My lobster came out 10 minutes after their pizzas. When my friends got around to eating their dip, it was dried and flavorless. They refused to take the dip off the bill because it sat too long before they ate it (explaining that's why it was dry). Maybe if they brought it out before their dinner, they might have eaten sooner. Cmon guys!!! At least McDonalds gives us all our food at the same time!!! SMH read more

The nachos saved the day is the best way to recap this review. I was reluctant of going in here because of the reviews but we decided to try it out. We ordered nachos and drinks to begin with and the nachos were delicious. We waited about 15 more minutes for food. My wife and daughter's pulled pork was room temperature and my burger was well done even though I ordered it medium. I felt so bad but had to return it. The pulled pork was warmed up and it was OK. The burger came back and they brought back the same one even more well done but the manager was very apologetic. I was confused and asked our waitress what happened. She returned it and 10 minutes passed, 15 minutes passes, 20 minutes passed and we asked about my burger. Everyone was done eating, table cleared and my burger came 10 minutes later except it was... well done. It was comped but I was ready to leave and get Mickey Ds. My daughter, a high school student, was a hostess at the Mason Jar. Unfortunately she called out sick as a result of an allergic reaction. The owner, IRA, seemed to not believe her when she called. After clarifying it was an actual issue, he has since been back tracking his lack of professionalism by piling lies over lies. I went to ask why she hasn't been on the schedule and he made up some outright lies about her not wanting to work and leaving a bogus training session early. These are outright lies to cover him not having her work from having an allergic reaction. If there were actual issues, he should have communicated such. When I went to address him, he simply babbled more nonsense. Also, she did not hear anything from the restaurant and was not even given the courtesy that she has checks there for hours worked. I'll never step foot in there again and certainly won't recommend it to anyone. *************** In response to your post, there were other employees that witnessed you are outright lying. The facts are there, you handled this poorly and there are consequences for your lack of professionalism, beyond any way you try to spin it. You accused a teenager of lying when she had an allergic reaction, which on its own it's inexcusable. Then when confronted about this, you backpedalled by having her come in for training which you specifically said was for only one hour, which made no sense. Yet she complied. Since then, I went to speak with you firsthand to hear your perspective, and you lied to my face saying said she " left without you knowing" when in fact she asked you if she should leave and you said yes WITH other employees as witnesses. Afterwards she has yet to get any hours ,was not told you have her checks. On top of it, you added your BS if she can work during the day on weekdays , she can have shifts knowing she's a high school student! Bottom line is you handled this poorly from the onset and then chose to dig your heels in further with more nonsense to falsely justify yourself. We went to the Mason Jar on a Saturday night expecting to get some good food and listen to the band. The band was outside in the parking lot in a open tent with the 40 degree weather. We decided to skip the band and move inside, but since they leave the door open it was just as cold indoors. Too uncomfortable to enjoy the food if it were good which it isn't. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Crisps which were a few pieces of tough tuna on a chip smothered in wasabi sauce. If you dare order this, get the sauce on the side. For the main course I ordered the baby back ribs and in short - disgusting. Don't expect more than pub quality food and restaurant prices. read more

Amazing brunch!!! Over the years, I've ordered a few items from the menu, but I can't even remember them because, my word, the brunch buffet is fantastic. Hands down. I go straight for the smoked and poached salmon and smoked whitefish, which are always delicious and house smoked. Served as they should be, with a horseradish sauce and capers. There is prosciutto wrapped melon. A straight fruit bowl, pasta options, lunch choices, a breakfast omelette station, and cooked breakfast options as well. And THEN, there's the dessert table. Tiramisu, mini black and white cookies, cream puffs, cobbler, blueberry blintzes, ice cream with an assortment of toppings, including chocolate, strawberry, and butterscotch sauce. Comes with a mimosa or Bloody Mary. Good heavens, I have dreams about this place. I feel like the price keeps fluctuating. It's definitely higher on holidays like Mother's Day and almost impossible to get a reservation. But whatever the cost, it's worth it. This brunch is gold. Highly recommend! read more

We heard great things about the brunch here and we were not disappointed. There was a large variety of different foods at the buffet and everything I tried was delicious... especially the corned beef hash. Here's where the 3 star review comes into play. The seating in the buffet room is extremely cramped. I felt like I was sitting in coach on an airplane the entire time I was at my table. The tables are so on top of each other it's to the point where you have to coordinate with neighboring tables on how and when you'll be leaving and returning to your seat. They also lose a star for letting a party of 8 Millennial Hipsters bring A DOG into the restaurant and delay the table service for everyone else by each ordering a Bloody Mary, a Water, a Coffee and their complementary Mimosa. Our waiter, who provided us with excellent service up until this point, was bogged down bringing 30 something drinks to one table all at once. Happened to be in the area for work and upon checking into my hotel I came across this place. The reviews were good so I decided to get a drink and some food. The reviews didn't lie as the food, drinks and service was great. I ordered the Bang Bang Shrimp as my appetizer and it was gas the shrimp were fresh the the sauce was fire. I got the brisket with baked beans and veggies. They gave me 4 huge tender pieces of brisket and it was gas. Had I smoked a J beforehand I would've crushed the whole plate, but I wanted to save some for later. The sauce on it was sweet with some spice on the backend. The bartender (can't remember her name) was great. Couldn't really complain about anything. Curious how busy it gets at night as I was there around 5/530. We had our after-party for our wedding at Mason Jar and it was the perfect closer to the night. The relaxed atmosphere and great drinks had our guests going to 1-2AM after our reception ending at 10PM! The owner Irah is a pleasure to work with - I spoke with him many times to ensure he know 30+ people were coming by after, and he was sure to provide the staff and any other accomdations for us. Even though the kitchen closes at 10pm, they made a tray of teriyaki wings and penne for our guest, and both definitely got eaten up. 10/10 would visit again, and a great place to have an after party! read more

My party of 4 got seated right away, and we were helped in about 10min (it felt like a long time). Our waitress was friendly and full of helpful suggestions. Get a salad or some bbq ribs. Cob salad was good. Get sweet potato tots!! (It said fries but they didn't have any) Avoid: penne aka vodka and Mac and cheese (more cream than cheese). FYI: they don't have onion straws! cute spot that is very accommodating ! we called at 515 asking for a 6pm reservation for 8 people and they said sure ! we got there at 5:45 and grabbed drinks at the bar while we waited. our table was ready just after 6pm, we all sat and got waters & asked if we wanted more drinks immediately. food orders were taken about 15 minutes after being seated and i'd say we all had food in front of us within 15-20 minutes after that. i had the little neck clams in white sauce & soft pretzels. AMAZING. boyfriend had a steak sandwich that he loved. the others had ribs, salads, a buffalo chicken wrap. etc. all of the food was delicious, servers were on top of clearing the table & refilling drinks. i'm unsure if it was the owner? or a manager but an older guy was making sure all tables were happy and had everything. we left around 730 & the place started to fill up, they had live music outside and people genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. we were shocked how inexpensive it was for 8 people and will be back as individuals! read more

The food at the mason jar is decent but nothing was great. I ordered a veggie burger which was good but I probably would not go back for it. My waitress was very nice but the food took a very long time to come out. Once we were done, the bill took a very long time to come to us and once we we got the bill and ready to go, she took a very long time to come for the bill. It's a place I have wanted to try but probably a place I won't go back to. The food was average. The ambiance is nice and has a southern vibe that I liked. read more
