Stumbled across this place randomly on a Sunday while staying for the night in Bangor. First and foremost, it's a gorgeous space! Nice indoor and outdoor spaces for dining on the riverfront. Seemed to be dog friendly The beer selection was good. In house brewed beers were heavier on the IPAs, but there was something for everyone on draft. I had the Farmhouse Saison which was light, nicely balanced, and not too sour. My friend had the Hefeweizen which was delicious, but tasted a lot like an Oktoberfest. The food was 11,938,038 stars! Get the "dirty fries"--you won't regret it. Big portions for the price. My veggie burger was $14 and most sandwiches ran $11-15. Several veggie options for vegetarians. Service was decent, though disorganized. There was an unnecessary wait at the door when we first arrived. We were told it would be a 15-25 minute wait for inside seating and a 45 minute wait for outdoor seating. But looking into the restaurant, we saw huge empty tables inside and outside. Our wait ended up being like 5 minutes so we were confused why we had to put our name in to wait for a table. After we were seated, we noticed the hostess immediately seating people outside (with no wait at all). Not sure of their seating system but it just seemed disorganized. The wait for our food was long but SO worth it!! We got the veggie burger (the mushroom style), sweet corn, and sweet potato fries (cinnamon sugar seasoning). The veggie burger was amazing and the unique toppings just added to the amazingness. The sweet potato fries came out on a huge plate and we didn't think we would eat them all, but we were proven wrong. They were so good that we ended up devouring every single crumb! We have just left this very busy establishment. I have never had such good service. I had a miscommunication with my server and ended up with a different item. Politely offered to correct my meal. Almost instantly a gentleman arrived with a plate of delicious French fries saying it wasn't right for me to not have anything to eat whilst my friends were eating. After two years of eating at Mason's and not writing a review, I feel I haven't done them justice. The beers are great as long as you like IPA's. Yes, the majority of the tap menu will strip your taste buds after the first glass, but that is what an IPA is all about. They only have porter (my absolute favorite style as a brewer) at Christmas. Now beer aside, as a plant-based diet person, the fried tofu is probably the best in the world. And yes, I have traveled the world and have had fried tofu in many a restaurant. The texture is perfect. Cruncy on the outside and velvety smooth on the inside. Add the teriyaki sauce and toasted sesame seeds and you have the perfect meal. They have a few other vegan/plant-based options, but the tofu is so good I rarely order them. The newly added faro bowl is also a great choice, but did I mention the fried tofu is the best?! We really enjoyed our time here! I had a great burger and fries, and my brother had a great pizza. I'm from NYC and so I wasn't sure what to expect from the pizza here, but man this is really good! Four of us came here on 9-9-19 for lunch. We had 4 adults and 6 pups. We were able to sit out back on the spacious, beautiful viewed deck. We ordered 3 pizzas ( gluten free were 2 of them) and a sandwich. All were fantastic and all had a little kick! My sista was able to have a cake for my birthday. Ashley was our waitress and she was stellar! Recommended place for great food , beers, and view of water front with walking path. And Resturant is DOG FRIENDLY outside on deck! read more

First place we stopped in Maine and the staff at Mason's set the bar high! The location was tucked away a bit but the direction on Yelp put us right in the parking lot with no issues. They are dog friendly and have outside seating to accommodate your furry friend. They also bring them a dish of ice water which we were grateful for as it was sunny and 80! The food was absolutely delicious and you could tell the focus here at Mason's was guest service and attention to detail. Service was 10/10 and the food was side by side as well. Hoping to stop back on the way home for some more great beer and those crisp Dirty Pork Cracklings. read more

Food was YUM. Their house salad is huge and full of lots of little extras like pumpkin seeds and beet greens which you don't see often. I had the pizza special which had these amazing candied jalapeños on it. I went back a second night and had the brisket sandwich with fries. Large portions that you could easily share. Little pricey for lunch but quality made up for it. Stopped by for second time today. We ordered 2 items packed to go as half of our party had to leave, at the same time we ordered the remaining meals. we went to the Mason's Brewing Co in Bangor for a pizza and some drinks .Mike had an in-house made beer and i had an amazing cider so refreshing on a hot day .. the pizza was white with candied bacon, mushrooms, spinach and a truffle oil also very good-- the restaurant overlooks the river and you can dine inside or out we chose to sit in by the window because it was a warm day however we could have sat outside because after lunch we did the river walk which was very nice. I feel like it's so rare to go someplace order a few things and have zero regrets about what you ordered. That was my experience here. I was not pleased with Masons. It is a really cute brewery. However, the beer is not true to style and has the same bad after taste on several styles. We had two flights of four beers and only cared for the cream ale. On top of the bad beer, the waiter was horrible. It took us 2 hours for two flights and a pizza. Man do I wish I lived in Bangor just for this place. We are from the other side of the country and were stopping through Bangor for the night when we tried Mason's. The food and beer was amazing. Service was very good. I had a beer flight which was great considering the others I had in Portland left a lot to be desired from those local breweries. For food I had the Fire in the Sky burger. I was really torn between that and a couple other options but I figured being from the southwest and as an avid Mexican food lover I could easily handle whatever these folks in New England thought was spicy. First I will say the flavor of the burger was great... At least while I could still taste anything. The heat definitely hit after only a few bites. The first thing I tasted when the plate came was a piece of the melted Habanero cheese which immediately was a hint of the heat that was coming. I ended up finishing the whole burger but it was one of the biggest struggles I've ever had with spicy food. The majority of the spice comes from the sauce they put on it. I think next time I would even get the same burger but with only a small bit of the sauce. Not because I can't handle it, but it ended up taking away from the enjoyment of the rest of the burger. I love spicy food but I also want to be able to taste and enjoy what I'm eating. Would definitely recommend this place. We will have to try again in the summer sometime read more

A must do if anywhere near Bangor Maine! Right on the Penobscot river, in Brewer Maine. Great building, waterfront outside dinning, unique inside dinning area. Great selection of beer and pub food. Service..unparalleled! Mia has been with them since they opened, and if her manager reads this review...she needs a raise! She knows the beer choices and knows the menu and can tailor it to your tastes! We selected 2 great brews to start the evening. Eating 'light' we chose the pretzel with mustard on the app menu and the 'best damn pepperoni pizza' on the dinner menu. Both hit the mark! Pretzel was hot and luscious! The mustard and the side of beer cheese put it over the top. It was huge and we couldn't finish it. Now the pizza...great crust, made for them by a local place and uses Masons beer in the dough. Great toppings akin to a chains meat lovers pizza but on steroids! Quality ingredients for sure with awesome flavor and texture. Sorry no room for desert...maybe next time. read more

Would give 0 stars if possible. FOOD HERE IS ATROCIOUS!!! Beer is mediocre at best. They claim to be a craft brewery far from it vomit. They don't understand how truffle oil works nor how measurements or ingredients work. Service -100 stars. Wait staff is horrible - attitudes and disrespect left and right. Mad about not receiving a tip, the "manager" finds people on Facebook to PM them asking why..... this place needs the entire staff cleared out and needs to start over. Worst part is the location is awesome but the people inside just ruin the entire experience. Most food tastes and smells like ammonia aka cat urine. Burgers never seasoned right or cooked properly, pizza is always messed up, watery, missing ingredients etc. Party of 4 seated in the back room with 1 other party of 2 waited 35 minutes just to be greeted. Bartender needs lessons for sure, not only in making drinks but customer service. This establishment is a joke and is a stain on Brewer/Bangor up and coming food scene. Have tried multiple times with this place always a disappointment, leave hungry or with an upset stomach for DAYS. 0 stars trash food, trash staff, trash everything. It's been a year since my last visit to Masons and was anticipating a delicious lunch. First, the server was excellent! I ordered coffee that was lukewarm then cool after adding cream. I ordered the rib eye steak sandwich with mushrooms but held off on the bread. A side of much anticipated and formerly to die for sweet potato fries and a side of marinated mushrooms So disappointed!! The fries were severely overcooked as was the meat. It was terrible. The mushrooms were truly disgusting. AND, it cost me $25 with a tip. Sadly, I Think I'll wait another year before returning. read more

Last day here in beautiful Maine and had to stop and get some good ole beers and pizza. Let me tell you, the vibe of this place is very hipsteresque but great! Has a homey, brewery vibe. Pretzel appetizer was great, the butter was the highlight, believe it or not! The pizza was great, exactly what we needed after a long day. We got the BBQ chicken pizza. My family got the 40s smelt and man, was that tasty. A mix of a burger and a grilled cheese. Don't be afraid of the street corn that comes in a little bowl, with a little kick too. Overall, great food and nice view of a lake that I honestly don't know the name of. But stop in, grab a blueberry beer. read more
