Mason's was our first stop after arriving in Maine, thanks to the recommendation of our hotel concierge. We couldn't have had a better experience! There was a small wait when we arrived, but we were invited to grab a beer at the bar & enjoy the waterfront view from one of the high top tables on the patio. I tried an awesome hybrid IPA-sour called the Crypster & it was refreshing & full of passion fruit flavor, which was perfect after a long day of travel. For my meal I had the Sweeter Mess with grilled chicken. The smoked gouda, picked apple, bacon, maple syrup & dijon mayo were an incredible combination. I had sweet potato fries on the side & they were the most crispy, fresh & flavorful fries I've ever had! I would highly recommend a stop at Mason's if you're anywhere nearby! Fine spot on the river--too bad it was night and raining--and who wouldn't wanted a brewery in Brewer? Big space, our server casey most energetic. Had the porkalypse burger, stacked high w/ burger, pulled pork, bacon & onion ring--crunched down to an almost manageable size. Just enough dirty fries. Some fun writing in the menu. Their signature beer is hipster apocalypse, which I found a little lackluster. And the low bitterness of some of their IPAs not quite to my taste. read more

When I think brewery, I think run-of-the-mill bar bites paired with a large variety of beer. Not only did they have a fully stocked bar (and some amazing cocktails), but they also carried !local mead! (see review of my Richmond meadery) I was already psyched about the mead, but then came the food. **Apps** 1. The Reuben sliders were a flavorful surprise with in-house made PICKLE BUNS. Genius. Reubens tend to get soggy with thousand island, but the pickle keeps the crunch. 2. Sushi sliders! Chunky fresh tuna on top a fried rice patty. The rice patty blew me away! Will definitely be attempting to recreate the crunchy, sticky combo at home. ** Entree** Ordered Fear the Fungus burger for my main dish. A solid burger, but not as WOW after the appetizers imo. Paired my burger with "dirty" pork rinds and those were a nice crunchy mouth feel after a soft burger. **Ambiance and Parking** The brewery is nestled on the river with a great skyline view. Plenty of outdoor picnic table seating to watch the sunset over the Penobscot River. Inside is industrial with high ceilings and a view of their brewing tanks! Bar seating is plentiful and "first come" so if you're lucky, you can be fully served there before your table is ready. Lastly, there is a paved parking lot in front of the restaurant, but if that fills up, there is a side street that will take you to an unpaved lot where some trailers are parked. read more

We stopped here after dropping off our son and college. We needed a couple of cocktails to cope with another child going off to college. It was 40+ minute wait on a late Friday afternoon with crappy rain for weather. The hostess was not very friendly, which didn't set a good tone. We got seated outside (which we said was okay) in an area that is covered by a tarp roof. This didn't keep the rain from coming on to the picnic table. Not ideal, but we managed. The drinks and selections were good. We had a couple of pizzas and a burger. The pizzas were solid as was the burger. I can see why there was a steady flow of to go orders being processed while we waited for our table. The best part of the evening was going in to sit at the bar after dinner. The bartenders were great to chat with (unlike the hostess) and really made us welcome. The ambiance was much better than outside, but I know the weather had a lot to do with this. This was our first time eating here and we had a wonderful experience! We sat outside and had a nice view of the Penobscot river and got to see the sun set. The outdoor seating is incredible!! I almost forgot to do this review! My husband and I stopped here for drinks and dinner. I'm so glad we did, the place was packed! We sat at the bar and got beer flights, which the beer is excellent. If you just like beer and don't want food I'd recommend this place in that alone. But the food! We decided to get The beer cheese dip for our app. It came out perfectly bubbling hot and with toasted baguettes. Delicious! I got the Basil Fawlty pizza, which is positively my new favorite pizza. It has white sauce, roasted tomato, roasted garlic, a balsamic reduction and basil. Amazing. My husband got a burger and cleaned his plate. I'd say that's a compliment too. However, when going on the Riverwalk with my kids to pass the time, I counted 7 open tables outside. Food was awesome! The hostess seemed annoyed that we were there, and our waitress seemed spread a little thin, but her friendliness made up for it! Their menu has a lot of inventive flavor combos and quite a few vegetarian options to choose from! Their beer selection was great and I would call them a lot of funky fruit flavors- plum and blueberry sours were on my list to try. Great place to hang out, good beer! Situated right on the river and it being sunny this was exactly the place a few friends and I were looking for to spend a few hours. Everyone that worked there was super nice and helpful. Their on tap beer list is long with about 18 +/- beers to choose from. The list was composed of a wide variety of beer types so it's likely you'll find one to try...or several since they do flights! I tried 9 beers. Some I liked more than others but all drinkable. Nothing amazing but the scenery and staff give this place the bonus points. We didn't try any food but what we saw walking by looked appetizing. read more

August 2, 2022 This was the most awful service I have ever encountered in my entire life! We waited for a table to sit outside for a half hour. It was super hot and sunny that day with no sun shade even though they had the possibility of putting down the shades. There were 3 of us. We asked to move to a table out of the sun. We were told we couldn't do that because it was not our server's table. We then asked to sit inside. The table next to us was moved inside. We were told we were not enough people to go inside! The sun was beating down on us and I asked for ice cubes which I melted on my body and put down my shirt. It was about 98 degrees out. I am 75 years old and could have easily gotten sun stroke! On top of all this horrendous behavior on the part of our server, we waited 1 hour for our food. People who sat down after us got their food in 15 minutes. My daughter's boyfriend paid for the dinner so I don't know if he tipped or not. I certainly would not have. I hope this review gets out to the general public. I came here during a trip to Maine for business. My coworkers flight was delayed and I thought there's no better place to pass the time than a brewery. Well my co-workers flight went from originally being delayed 5 hours, to 7 hours. Needless to say, I had ample time to take in the ambiance, staff, and of course, beer. Being an IPA fan, I was happy to see they had 4 different options on the menu. I sampled a few and they all were excellent, particularly the Orion (pictured). The staff were all super friendly and made me feel at home while working from there awesome tap room. While I was there I had the TE KĀ's revenge chicken sandwich and dirty fries. The sandwich was delicious, with flavorful perfectly golden fried chicken, pickled pineapple, fresh jalapeños, cheddar bacon and a spicy sauce. The dirty fries were a mix of many, perfectly blended spices. They were accompanied by a house sauce that I can recall they name of but it was excellent as well. This place is a must visit and highlight of the Bangor area. read more

We had a great experience at Mason's - highly recommend! After spending the morning in Acadia, we were looking forward to a relaxing afternoon and an escape from the rain. My husband tried a couple of Mason's IPAs and ended up taking home a 4 pack of their Liquid Rapture. I enjoyed a flight and sampled their sours, all of which I enjoyed! I didn't see the option for a flight listed on the menu so I was sure to ask our server and indeed Mason's offers flights of four 5 oz pours to sample. It was perfect for me as my favorite part of visiting a brewery is trying the different local beer. For our appetizer we got the pretzel and our server, Jess, explained the 3 dipping sauces, spicy mustard, pub cheese, and honey butter are all made on site. All were delicious! For our entrees, I got the veggie and farro bowl and my husband got the "Good Guy" sandwich. The food was great and everything that went by our table looked wonderful too. Mason's was an overall hit! I went with a good friend of mine who is vegetarian and we both loved it. Usually it's the same ole options for vegetarians (salads with minimal protein or a pan-fried veggie sandwich). Mason's surprised us with a variety of options that seemed reasonably priced and thoughtful. Their brews were tasty and varied. They didn't get stuck in the rut of only making IPAs. OMG. Driving through Maine after a cross country ski trip and our first choice was closed. Mason's popped up and we stopped in on a random wintery February Tuesday. HOLY MOLY BATMAN. The food was phenomenal. And we're from Chicago. No shortage of stellar food there. Everything was sooooo good. We got the pulled pork sammie, sweet potato fries, fried chicken spicy delicious-ness of a sandwich, and brussel sprouts (best brussels I have ever had). And plenty of beer. Mason's used to be a go to choice for dining out. Up until about a year ago, the food and drinks were always amazing. Lately when I've gone, the food has been over cooked and less than desirable and the mixed drinks are lacking alcohol. Going out to masons is not cheap and for the price we pay, I expect to be consistently impressed. One thing that I don't like is the table and chair arrangement-- there is no space and feels like you're sitting right on top of someone else. Additionally, the metal chairs are SO uncomfortable. I do have to say, on a positive note, their outdoor dining option is excellent and right on the water, the service is always top notch, and the dirty fries are amazing! Hoping the food gets better so I can enjoy Mason's again. read more

There is no shortage of beautiful views and cool vibes when you come here, but the food just is not up to par. It was beautiful weather which meant for a busy night and slow service. We started with the brew haus fries. These were probably the highlight of the meal. We tried to order our meal with the appetizers, but our waitress was in a hurry so we couldn't. When we finally ordered our entrees, it took over 50 minutes to get them. When we finally got our entrees, the fries my son ordered were not on his plate. I finally got the waitress's attention, and she realized she delivered him the wrong burger. So, she had to take it back and get the right one. The rest of the food was not so tastey. We ordered a salad and a pizza, neither were good enough to write about. With them being relatively new and summer being upon us, I imagine they are working hard to work out the kinks. read more
