I had an order delivered one evening. What's there not to love about lobster? I thoroughly enjoyed everything! The classic lobster roll - is very good. The mac and cheese is also very good. No complaints here. The mac and cheese is even better as a leftover.

The lobster roll was okay. It wasn't as filled as I'm accustomed to so if you're looking for lobster you may need to do an add on for more. It also didn't taste fresh. The mayo used seemed a little sweet (almost reminded me of a milder version of miracle whip), and I wasn't a huge fan. The service was unremarkable and the environment was what can be expected for a quick lunch spot. Would I go again, probably not.

The Bar Harbor - missing the tails :(

Ohhh Masons, ohhhh Cousins...I've had them both. I was raised in New England and my first solid food was lobster. I've had lobster in every state in New England and North Carolina (see my review of the Lobstah Shack in Topsail) and I've cooked many at home myself. I feel like I know a thing or two about this delectable crustacean. First, I'll start with your competitor. Your lobster roll is by far and away better. Point! Next, let's talk about the taste of the roll...deliciously seasoned sautéed in a perfect amount of hot butter - the Connecticut Roll. Yum!!!! Tender and sweet and not overpowered or overshadowed by the butter. The bun was warm and squishy -- perfect. Now let's talk about the "size/amount" for your money. It was decent, even above average I'd say. But here's the issue -- I got two "Bar Harbor" rolls (Connecticut-style), which is advertised as in including a lobster tail (whole) on top of the roll. I was excited about that. Neither of my rolls came with the tail on top. That was super disappointing :(. It's an upcharge so I felt a little duped but, again, still a healthy amount of lobster meat in the rolls. I couldn't make mention of it because I ordered it for delivery so I couldn't exactly go to the counter to ask about the tails. I also ordered a bowl of clam chowder. After reading many reviews, I was skeptical but it was pretty delicious. Flavorful and a good balance of clams and potatoes. I'm 65/35 on whether I'd go back again. Everything was delicious but I'm still sad about those two tails!

The new Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls is now open at Waverly Place! This casual restaurant focuses on one thing, lobbies! Get it in traditional New England (mayo) or Connecticut style (warm butter) as a roll or you can do a lobster cheese sandwich, lobster salad or lobster mac n cheese. With a basic menu and quick-casual setting, you'll be munching on a fresh lobster roll, stat. The space is basic with a maritime theme with a self-service soda fountain. Overall a strong option for a traditional Maine lobster roll but of course, you'll pay a bit for that kind of seafood. Enjoy!

Lobster and shrimp rolls. $50 with tip.

Very pricey. However, since I'm no stranger to lobster rolls, I knew that. If you parked downstairs, go upstairs to find it. Clean. Friendly. Competent. Delicious. Holy cow, this would be my new favorite hangout if it weren't for the first sentence of this review. The lobster roll was meaty and incredible. The shrimp roll was almost as good. Mrs. Vickie's jalapeño chips with ginger beer couldn't have been a better choice. Good God, I'm slobbing on myself just typing! If I find a rich girlfriend, she and I will be regulars at Mason's. Count on that. Even the dude behind the counter was mellow and fun. Excellent business. A.

I was so excited to see that Mason's had opened and was fairly close by. With the wife out of town, I figured tonight is the night for a lobster roll. Hell yeah! Juicy, buttery, mouth watering lobster roll is exactly what I was looking for, just like the pictures that were posted just after they opened. So, here's where it went south.... Not like the beautiful opening week pictures with lobster over flowing from the nice fluffy bun, my roll was the size of you average hot dog bun (not a big Costco-sized monster of a dog, think ballpark size) Unfortunately the amount of filling in the bun was disappointing and it seemed to disappear in only a few bites leaving just some bun left. While it was tasty and seasoned well, it left me feeling like the $20+ I spent for this was not a good value for the money. Here's the pic of my roll.... Still wish it looked like the pics from the opening.

Mason's Famous Lobster Rolls has their second location around this area in Waverly Place now. My mom and I split a Connecticut roll, classic lobster role and a side of potato salad. I liked both rolls but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the classic. The food and service were really good but the rolls are $21 each and that is expensive. It was good to try once but I would not return until the prices go down.

If you're looking for a really good lobster roll then this is your place. Granted it's a little pricey but that's the nature of seafood. You will get big pieces of lobster that are perfectly cooked. I always get the Connecticut Roll because it's warmed up and a side of lobster bisque. It's the perfect combo!

This place could go head to head with a New England restaurant as far as I am concerned. Honestly this roll was better than some I have I Mass. The staff were super nice and the restaurant was clean. The place does not offer a huge variety of options, so I highly suggest looking at the menu ahead of time. I went went the classic Connecticut Lobster Roll, regrettably I was in a rich and forgot they had soup. I'm sure everything on the menus is just as good as the roll I had. The meat tasted fresh and had big clumps of meat. They toasted the bread at the time of the order so it was hot and fresh. I love that they used the top slit New England style rolls; I hate when they put lobster on regular hot dog buns that get all mushy. The reason I didn't give this place a 5 star is because it is on the pricy side. One roll was almost $19 and came with no sides. I realize up north that's about the average cost for 1 roll, but down south we like to get more for our money. Definitely going to go here again, but unfortunately won't be as often as I would like due to the cost.

This visit when we placed our order and asked our server for chilled shrimp cocktail, we noticed , I'm assuming the manager/owner standing by the kitchen and he asked the server if we we had ordered it cold and then rolled his eyes ......clearly showing his disdain. So I guess Legal Seafood in Boston and even the fantastic waterfront restaurant we ate at recently in Beaufort seem to know it's very much a thing eating it chilled. All that said we decided not to put a dinner order in and requested the check. The server however, was very sweet and efficient , but the guy walking the place with his tablet was pretty rude. We didn't have this experience at the Cape Fear located in Cameron Village. Tonight's experience at the Apex location left a bad taste in our mouth, so to speak.

We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. Additionally, I've seen other restaurants that have intentionally include this practice. Would I go again, sure. I'd request a different seasoning blend or a light seasoning and check that math! She asked where we would feel most comfortable sitting! The restaurant is situated in an adorable little house! There were a few small rooms indoors and two diff outdoor areas! We chose to try indoors to begin with! I had already called in advance cause I have a pretty severe allergy I needed to make sure they could change things and accommodate for! They were more than happy to be able to do so as everything is made per order! My aunt knows I love a good sangria and wherever we go she always inquires immediately if they have it! They didn't BUT Zoe came right back over, asked how I like my sangria and with what type of wine and said they could make me one! Shortly thereafter we had met Han, the manager, what a delightful and respectable manager who knows how to handle any and all situations! We had now decided we would like to sit outside even tho it was very hot out! She said let me get your things and she then said how about this little private room indoors as she wanted us most comfortable! Even tho my puppy is a service animal the only other couple in that room made a stink immediately and I said let's just go sit outside under the fans and on the deck! Han brought everything out asked about drinks as I had decided to cancel mine but on second thought decided I'd have one! She asked if I like it on the sweeter side etc! Not only was it delicious but the waitress upon bringing it over let me know immediately it was on the house! The food wasn't rushed but came in a very nice and timely manner and with beautiful presentations and the taste of everthing from our appetizers to our mains was of the highest quality! Zoe, Han and even the person who poured our water were the nicest as was the other couple sitting on the patio with us! Overall I'd give MCAsian Cuisine a five star rating and can't wait to return on my next trip to see my Aunt and I know she can't wait to return even before then! To kick things off, we each ordered a refreshing Lone Rider wheat beer along with two appetizers. The Shoestring Okra Fries were a fun twist on a Southern classic--crispy, lightly seasoned with chili citrus seasoning, and even better dipped in the tangy lime mayo. We also shared the Artichoke Dip, which arrived bubbling hot, creamy, and perfect for spreading on the toasted bread. For brunch, we went with two very different dishes, and both were excellent. The Asparagus & Mushroom Omelet was fluffy and packed with flavor from the goat cheese and pickled onions, while the buttery biscuit with jam on the side was a nice Southern touch. The Fried Green Tomato & Bacon Benedict was the standout of the meal. Crispy fried green tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs, smoky bacon, and rich hollandaise came together beautifully without feeling overly heavy. We couldn't leave without one more treat. The Strawberry Kiwi Margarita was bright, fruity, and balanced with just enough tequila and a zesty spiced citrus rim to keep it refreshing. To finish, we shared an Affogato, the perfect ending with creamy ice cream and a shot of hot espresso. If you're planning a Sunday brunch in Cary, make a reservation--you'll be glad you did. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu.
