Two nights ago my Aunt, myself and my puppy had the pleasure of spending our dinner at MCAsian cuisine in downtown Cary! We were met upon entering by Zoe who happened to be our waitress! She asked where we would feel most comfortable sitting! The restaurant is situated in an adorable little house! There were a few small rooms indoors and two diff outdoor areas! We chose to try indoors to begin with! I had already called in advance cause I have a pretty severe allergy I needed to make sure they could change things and accommodate for! They were more than happy to be able to do so as everything is made per order! My aunt knows I love a good sangria and wherever we go she always inquires immediately if they have it! They didn't BUT Zoe came right back over, asked how I like my sangria and with what type of wine and said they could make me one! Shortly thereafter we had met Han, the manager, what a delightful and respectable manager who knows how to handle any and all situations! We had now decided we would like to sit outside even tho it was very hot out! She said let me get your things and she then said how about this little private room indoors as she wanted us most comfortable! Even tho my puppy is a service animal the only other couple in that room made a stink immediately and I said let's just go sit outside under the fans and on the deck! Han brought everything out asked about drinks as I had decided to cancel mine but on second thought decided I'd have one! She asked if I like it on the sweeter side etc! Not only was it delicious but the waitress upon bringing it over let me know immediately it was on the house! The food wasn't rushed but came in a very nice and timely manner and with beautiful presentations and the taste of everthing from our appetizers to our mains was of the highest quality! Zoe, Han and even the person who poured our water were the nicest as was the other couple sitting on the patio with us! Overall I'd give MCAsian Cuisine a five star rating and can't wait to return on my next trip to see my Aunt and I know she can't wait to return even before then! How many great things can I say about Van & her family's restaurant! From the moment I called for reservations on a busy Friday night I felt her warmth connecting through the phone. I have always loved the location I almost purchased this place when it was a home 30 years ago so I have a soft spot for it & now that it's across the street from the lovely cary park it's extra special. They have made great use of the wide porch with my favorite authentic French bistro chairs for outdoor dining or indoors there is a good use of space & atmosphere. This is a family owned dining experience where the husband is the chef, nephew is a waiter & wife at the hostess desk getting to know old & new customers. I hope I can become a regular! The food was superb!! The tempura asparagus was so light & crispy with a tasty sauce. Flambé manchego cheese (who doesn't love a table side fire show;) the tenderloin beef dish was so tender & I enjoyed learning the Vietnamese use the lime juice with salt to use as a sauce. The truffle fries were light & airy. I LOVE fried food did but very few chefs seem to use a good oil & have a light touch with it anymore! The baguette was good. We had the coconut cake & banana Foster's pudding with the very tasty whiskey sauce really filled us up. The ambience is friendly & upscale in a comfortable fashion. I enjoyed interacting with Van & tired a new lemonichello drink that was very much to my liking. There is a wide selection of sake both filtered & unfiltered & an extensive wine selection as well. Also, scotch & port are well represented. I love a full spectrum bar! Van allowed me to try an additional starch Vietnamese potatoes. We will definitely return!! First impression: Meh. The atmosphere of the outdoor seating is genuinely lovely -- it set a great tone for the evening and is clearly the restaurant's strongest suit. Unfortunately, several hiccups kept this from being a standout meal. The service was a bit bumpy: we waited quite a while after being seated before I had to ask for menus myself, and part of our order never made it to the table. The nigiri was fine, slightly better than what you get at a grocery store. On the bright side, the Chinese fried buns were delightful. I could have eaten a dozen. The Brussels sprouts were beautifully prepared and an impressively generous portion. Food was fresh and hot. We showed up when a neighboring venue could not accommodate 5 adults and 2 kids even though we has a reservation. We walked over to MC and they delicately explained that they needed 15 minutes as a few couples were leaving. We made reservations for our anniversary and requested a romantic, quiet table. The location was perfect - window table in a smaller room with candles and low lighting - perfect. Our server was so amicable and attentive. My husband ordered the wedge salad and I had the Banh Xeo. The salad was almost too pretty to eat with delicate fried onions on top of fresh greens, blue cheese and tomatoes. The Banh Xeo fried crepe was so crispy and beautifully presented. Would highly recommend both. I had the flounder lightly coated with cocoanut rice and broccoli rabe. Absolutely delicious and even my husband who does not like fish loved it. I was very excited to dine at MC after hearing so many complaints about the ambiance. I will say, the ambiance is 10:10, but that's where things quickly become average and overpriced. The cocktails are very good. The food / sushi rolls are average at best for their price. We did order some sashimi and it was good, but not reflective of the price they are asking. Service was attentive, and very hospitable. I'm willing to give it another shot, but more than likely for drinks outside and maybe some apps. My fiancé surprised me with reservations at MC's as he knows it is such a wonderful place. I have to tell you, I don't remember ever having such a wonderful meal as I had tonight. With our schedules we tend to have late lunches and dinners, so we set a 9:30 reservation on the patio. The menu changes every week, so I pulled it up on the internet. They has a Salmon Wellington with crab meat......now my tastebuds have decided. I did notice that is said to expect a 20 minute cooking time. As they close at 10:00 and didn't want to keep everyone there while our meal was prepared, I called about 10 minutes ahead and gave them our order. They had our table prepared and we were served in about five minutes. Service as always was spot on. So.....I am sure that in my entire adult life the Salmon Wellington with crab and spinach inside the very thin, delicious flaky pastry cover. With asparagus in a curry sauce..... the best meal that I can remember eating out in years. I fell in love the first time we came here, but this exceed that menu. I've been here twice now for family birthdays. Both were really good meals that everyone enjoyed. Be aware that the menu does change so what you ate last time could be gone the next time you go. That's not a complaint at all since it's nice to try good things each time and not get stuck on the same thing over and over. If that's what you're looking for, there's a ton of chain restaurants around to take care of you. The first visit, my son had Wagyu beef (Japanese, not American) and said it was the best he ever ate. He's since become obsessed with finding more like that. I wish I could remember what I had, but it's off the menu now so I have nothing to remind me. Second trip, my son had a Korean beef special and loved it. A few of us had the almond prawns and they were really good. Service is very good. Prices are on the high side, but reasonable for the quality and service. Biggest negative is probably that parking is a bit of a challenge. There's a small lot across the street next to the Cary Arts center, but it fills up fast. There's a parking structure but the library. That's about a 2 block walk. Everything else is hit and miss. In any case, I definitely recommend it for an upscale dinner. read more

Okay so I'll start with the bad and end with the good. The bad, the steak was 45 dollars and it was overcooked and not good. At all. The fries with the meal were also overcooked and tasted stale. I was so disappointed, since that was my meal lol. I ended up eating some of my husband's food which was delicious. So clearly I ordered the wrong thing. He tried mine and we agreed that it wasn't good. The good. My husband loved the deviled eggs with fish eggs on it. The sushi was amazing. Holy cow it was so good. The desserts were amazing. The key lime creme brulee and coconut cake, so so so good. The staff was AMAZING. They did a great job keeping our waters full and communicating. The atmosphere there is amazing. I have wanted to come here since we moved to the area. After my first experience, I'm not sure I'd come back. It was an odd experience to say the least. We had a reservation and got there a couple of minutes early and didn't really see anyone at the host stand. No problem. Talked to the couple in line before us and just kind of waited on the porch. A man scurried past us cursing under his breath a few times and I realized that was the person that I needed to check in with. He zoomed by a few more times, we checked in and each time he was muttering things about how busy he was, how he didn't have time for this, how absurd this all was. He would alternate by yelling at a buser to clean a table, would disappear and then reappear with food a minute later. He was clearly very busy and not having a good day. He was also our waiter. At our table he was fine, told us about the restaurant, the chef, the food. I wouldn't have known he was stressed out at all if I haven't heard and observed him running around. But I did. So I asked if they were short staffed. They were. I get it. But man, that made me feel like a nuisance by being there and seeing that. The food was OK. The only real thing to note was that the uni didn't taste quite right and both my husband and I had upset stomachs the next day. Other than that the rest of the meal was fine. Modern asian cuisine in a beautiful setting. Chef Chuong has an amazing menu of small plates, sushi, main course dishes and desserts. The blistered shishito peppers were fun spicy pops of flavor, the papaya salad was crunchy and juicy and my martini refreshing. I absolutely loved the sushi, was flavor layered perfectly in textures. It was so fresh and seemed well cared for. The drink list has interesting flavor combinations and plenty of wine options. The atmosphere was comfortable and service excellent. My my my! How come I didn't know about MC Restaurant until now? My friends and I wanted to safely dine out, so here comes Yelp for rescue for finding restaurants with outdoor sitting options. It's conveniently located in downtown Cary - I don't come to downtown Cary for dining quite often, so I was slightly confused as to where I was going. There's a parking lot attached to the restaurant, but I accidentally missed it; however, there were many street parking places that you can park and walk over to the restaurant. No biggie. We came for a dinner on Thursday night. My first impression of the place: Beautiful. The way the lights and the tables/chairs were arranged was this girl's dream! We were told that they change the menu every Thursdays (lucky us!) and everything is freshly sourced and made. Menu is quite short but has everything you will enjoy right there. I picked couple appetizers and two sushi rolls to share with my boyfriend - I honestly don't remember the exact dish names and I completely forgot to take a picture of the menu (DUMB ME). However, I clearly remember this sushi roll with slices of jalapenos on the top to be my favorite dish of the night: Spicy "Tail of Two Tunas". Along with that, we had pan fried asparagus (they are humongous), coconut shrimp (also humongous), and one sushi roll with cream cheese and tempura shrimp on them. My boyfriend and I were making happy noises throughout the dinner. You will not be disappointed. They are seriously, freaking delicious and it's worth every penny and minute you spent to drive to the restaurant. I'm already excited to go back for more date nights with my boyfriend and special occasions for family/friends because they seriously hooked me in with their quality of food. Per other Yelp recommendations we came here while in town to watch the Pack. The wait staff was attentive and made good recommendations. We started with Wagyu wontons which were delicious hot and flavorful. We ordered sashimi and sushi. All were fresh and tasty. Then we shared the lamb which was amazing. Our only complaint was that we were in a small echoey room with another large party who were quite loud so it was hard for us to have a conversation but we were eating such good food! Truly wonderful experience. The cute little old house ambience is such a bonus too. The server was very attentive with a great personality. The food was unreal - so many unique dishes that appealed to all the senses. We tried a LOT, but the highlights were the dumplings, the chowder, the wagyu steak, the almond shrimp, and the yuzu white chocolate cake which was unbelievable. The location is nice, in a lovely house in downtown Cary. We found easy parking across the street in the Public Parking Lot next to the Cary Arts Center. We went with a large group to celebrate a birthday. It's a nice place for a special occasion or date night. We did bring our 4 year old. There isn't a kids menu, but she enjoyed sharing a meal of pork tenderloin, sweet potatoes, and broccolini with me. The desserts were the best part off the meal. We tried the coconut cake, which was beautiful, and the white chocolate bread pudding, which was incredibly delicious. The good: All five bites of food we had were absolutely delicious! Another perk -- Cook Out is just down the street. You'll need to stop at on the way home after you drop a couple hundred bucks on a dinner for two. Expect to leave as hungry as you arrived. The bad: Value. 2oz of steak for $40!! That's not a typo, 2 ounces, not twenty. Some call that highway robbery. Also, the staff help you spend money. For example, I ordered "House White Wine." The restaurant is in a converted old house... with the holiday decorations, high ceilings and comfortable seating, the setting was delightful and welcoming. Brussels sprouts on the stem for appetizer - delicious and creative. Main course was almond prawns, land and sea sushi special, Unagi nigiri and salmon belly nigiri. The breading on the prawns was way too heavy, the balance was way off- to a point that it fell off the prawns. Land and sea sushi had deep fried shrimp that was extremely greasy. The rice for the nigiri was very firm making it difficult to enjoy, the eel was good but the pieces were really small. Although I ordered salmon belly - it was just a normal salmon cut. We're still glad that we finally had a chance to dine at MC but we probably won't return anytime soon. read more

Before you come here, make sure to check out the menu on their website. Their menu changes weekly. I was really excited to come here. I've seen this place multiple times driving by and it looked so cute. I made a reservation and I was really excited to try some of the dishes that are posted here on Yelp. I was not really interested in the sushi but more for their main dishes and appetizers. But unfortunately that day they had nothing on the menu that sounded appealing to me as I wasn't aware of their weekly menu changing. I know, it's my fault for not checking! I ordered bo luc lac and that was absolutely not worth the 45 dollars. I had a few cubes of beef on top of a couple green lettuce leaves with some shredded carrots in a sauce that was bland. And it came with a side of "truffle" fries. I did not see any truffles on the fries but they were my favorite from the whole dish. They were cold but still tasty. Super crunchy and perfectly seasoned. I also had one of their spirit free drinks and it was just sour tasting to me. Than I ordered the coconut cake which was old tasting. The cream tasted like cool whip and the inside was super dry. My friend had the land and sea sushi which she liked and than ordered the fried banana spring rolls for dessert. The fried banana rolls where much better than the coconut cake. It came with chocolate sauce and a scoop of ice cream which was REALLY good. She also had a spirit free mule which she loved. The service was really nice and the atmosphere was magical. We sat outside and it was beautiful. A great spot for a date night! Overall I was quite disappointed in the food I ordered and definitely did not make the rocket high prices any justice. I really wanted to love this place especially after reading all the great reviews and the beautiful location. For now I have to give it 3 stars (I wish I could give 2,5 stars). Its official. Three years of dining here at least every two months, and we have never had a meal that was less than exceptional! The experience begins with entering into an historical house, and being greeted by welcoming James, the general manager. Whether you dine on the lawn, on the porch, or in one of the three cozy, intimate rooms, you will feel as if you've been invited to a special dinner at a friend's home. The servers are wonderful! Oscar, Nathan, and Lexi? are professional, friendly and knowledgeable about each dish, as the menu changes weekly or bi-weekly. The chef is bold and creative, and nails it every time! After waiting 15 mins for the waiter to come to our table, we asked for a sake recommendation, the waiter bluntly said "I don't know", so we randomly picked one. After waiting 20 mins he came back to tell us it's been out of stock for over a month. So we ordered a 'Smoked Manhattan'. The drink came in a glass of ice, much like a cup of iced tea, which is what it tasted like because it was very watered down. I asked the manager to have it remade and served without ice - like a Manhattan is supposed to be served. Instead of marking a new one, the bartender just strained my old drink into another cup and gave it back to me. I've seen better service at a soup kitchen. To make it worse, they served the drink in a cheap metal martini glass. I know times are hard for restaurants right now, but to cut corners like this with the glassware is unacceptable given the prices this place charge. We had the Australian Wagu and the Maki & Sashimi classic. The flavor on the Wagu was good, but the steak was only about 1/4" thick. The sashimi was sliced even thinner. Each piece of sashimi looked like it was the leftover scraps from real sushi restaurants. For $40 you'll get better quality & quantity at any other sushi restaurant in the triangle. Just like the food, the decor looks like they took scraps from an old Asian restaurant and threw it inside the Queen-Ann cottage. I could go on and on about the random half-cocked attempt at "fusion" decor in this restaurant, but I'll spare you the details. If you want to over pay for mediocre food and bland cocktails, then come to MC Restaurant. If you want a good dining experience, there are plenty of other options. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to try someplace new and found MC Restaurant on Yelp. I can see why this restaurant has 5 stars - the food, service and atmosphere are fantastic. When we arrived we were given a temperature check upon entering and we were seated right away. All the staff were wearing masks and gloves. We ordered the "Spicy Tail of Two Tunas" and the "Crazy Salmon." Both rolls were fantastic. The fish was so fresh and the flavors were incredible. I highly recommend MC Restaurant. It was okay.. not great. I went with my parents to celebrate my moms birthday and the only reservation we could get was 5:30. The food was great and the service was ok. It wasn't specifically bad but it was just mediocre. When I'm paying that much for a meal I expect everything to be great, not just mediocre. Because we were in there so early, there were many busboys and waiters just standing around not doing much. A few were occasionally yawning and responding with just a quick "yep". More like 4.5 stars! I love the location and the restaurant being in a historic house is very fun. Great atmosphere. Service is always good, drinks are solid and the manager has stopped by on all our visits to make sure we enjoyed our meal. It is clear they want guests to have a nice time. They change their menu weekly and I think that causes meals to be hit or miss. First time I had their salmon wellington and it's probably one of my top favorite meals of all time. Their oyster special was also fabulous. Second visit, my starter and meal was not interesting and very basic. The veggie side was undercooked and bland. My husband and parents loved their meals however. Third time, their foie gras special and chicken wing start was AMAZING and my sea bass was fabulous, but again the veggie medley was mediocre. The rest of our party was very satisfied with their dishes. So, you either get a flavorful and memorable meal or an expensive but boring dinner.
