Scheduled for 12-2 window for washer repair and nobody called or showed up! I called them and they had some bs excuse that it was a snowstorm last night (3 inches!) and were running behind. Going to be another half hour or so. 1 hour and 15 minutes later, I called again, and they said still running late because of snowstorm!!!!!! I waited for over 3 hours and they never had the courtesy to even call that they were running late. Do not recommend, horrible customer service. read more

I called this company because they are one of the few repair companies that service Blomberg washers and dryers. In that it was a unique situation in that the appliances were on my houseboat in Salisbury. While it took a while to get the parts they repaired the washer that had leaked, once received, both Bob, the office manager and Mark, who does the "house" calls were very responsive, resulting in a quick turnaround, completed the repair, resulting in a happy customer. Maryann M. Our gas oven wasn't working properly and Mark C quickly determined the issue and instead of trying to sell us a new range, he replaced the circuit board and ignitor for a fair price. This saved us a lot of money. While working on the oven, he noticed that our microwave was missing a handle. We explained it hasn't been working properly but couldn't find a new one in the right size and budget to fit over the range. He offered to find one in his inventory and a few days later he and Nate brought a new, boxed Whirlpool microwave and installed it. The price met our budget and they did a great job installing it. Heed the another warnings on this site and stay away from this business. These people are shysters. They hooked up a gas stove incorrectly which could have caused a hazardous situation, then after numerous calls (and numerous promises that they'll be here this afternoon, tomorrow morning, etc) to get them to correct the mistake, never showed up. I was left without the oven with Thanksgiving approaching. They have been reported to the state licensing board for the hazardous situation they caused, but my Thanksgiving has been ruined. read more

I wish I'd asked for a receipt. He wanted $150 up front. It turned out to be an expensive lesson. He was going to fix my GE Adora stove. Came around on a Thursday just before Thanksgiving. Said parts would be there Monday, and it was going to be an additional $320. So, today is January 22. Over 2 months later. Parts not available. Same story I've gotten from Mark for 2 months: holiday slowed UPS delivery. I've ordered stuff from China and got it before Mass Appliance does? Horrible experience. Horrible service. Needed our oven fixed. Guy came out and was in our house for not even 5 mins, cost us 130 bucks. Told us he needed to talk to other people who deal with wolf ovens. That was almost 4 weeks ago. Never got a call, never got a quote on anything despite calling twice and asking what was going on. I was assured twice that I would get a call the next day which never happened. Returned from vacation with mountains of laundry only to find my washer wouldn't drain. A few google searches/youtube videos later, learned that the error was likely the drain filter. Unfortunately I don't have the tools nor the knowledge how to investigate and repair despite the tutorials. Found these guys through Angie's list at 5am (thank you jet lag!) and by 630am, I received a call!! He was here before 9am and found quite an army of lost socks and other various this stuck in the line. End of story - washer works, laundry washed and jet lag is getting better!! I called for repair on my electric range. I could no longer read the digital temp of the oven and therefore unable to adjust the temp. The person I spoke to asked a lot of ???? including how old the stove was. I did not know the age and asked him if he could tell me where I could find a serial number so he could look it up. He said " No, that's OK, we'll figure it out when we get there". We made the appt for 2 days later in the 9-11am timeframe. Long story short, the repairman didn't show until noon, came in, asked me to show him the problem, lifted the hood, called in the serial number, told me the stove was obsolete....no parts available, and asked me to pay $120 for the "service call". I was appalled !!!! I told him that I asked his boss if I could supply them with the serial number and he declined. And now they expected me to pay ???? He said, yeah, OK, I'll just charge you $100. Yikes !! I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND HAVE SINCE HEARD OTHER NEGATIVE STORIES FROM FRIENDS IN THE AREA. REALLY POOR WAY TO DO BUSINESS. read more

Do Not do business with Mark Charland at Mass Appliance Services. Mark told me he has a dishwasher he can sell me for $500 installed however he failed to mention it was an open box with scratches & dents. I get home and the Dishwasher is missing the kickplate. Mark told me he forgot the kickplate at the shop and he would come install in on Tuesday between 1-3pm however he never showed and never called me to cancel appointment. I've called him several times only to be blown off. Mark you have had an entire week to make this right however you choose to ignore me. Best Buy has this same dishwasher brand new on-sale for $379! I'd be willing to bet the reason why Mark did not show up on Tuesday and refuses to call me back because he doesn't have the kickplate to the dishwasher he sold me. Mark I paid you $500 for a new dishwasher not a damaged dishwasher missing parts! I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and taking legal action against you on next week unless you make this right. read more

The people at Mass Appliance are wonderful!!! My freezer started to melt and my refrigerator started to warm up. I needed help quick!! I did not want to lose my groceries. Everyone I called on recommendations of friends and neighbors could not help me, same day. But Mass Aplliance did. They sent out a gentleman, named Mark Charland. He was on his way to a job on Beverly and was coming through my area. He stopped by and quickly and efficiently took care of our refrigerator/freezer issue. Mark Charland provided nothing less than excellent customer service which is rare these days! My appointment was within 15 hours of calling him; he came out, diagnosed the problem and ordered the parts on the spot. He made a follow up appointment for just two days later to resolve the issue. On the day of the appointment he called to inform me that the UPS truck with parts for several appointments had arrived late and wanted to know if he could come as late as 8 p.m. as he was going away for several days and did not want to leave us without the washing machine. They came on 8-1-18 to look at my squeaking dryer. They said it needed a "dum axle support". The ticket says the cost would be $275. I gave them a deposit of $150. At three weeks nothing had happened. I called. He first said he's called, then said he's "misread phone number". We scheduled. They cancelled, said supply house "had never heard of part". They said they straightened that out, scheduled again. At about five weeks from the start of this adventure they were scheduled to come, called and said part had not been ordered. I told them I was done, had lost confidence, to cancel the whole thing. Another company came out and repaired it in one visit. No parts, the bearings needed to be oiled. One and done. I've been calling Mass Appliance ever since attempting to get at least a partial refund of the "deposit" on a part that was never ordered, work that was not done. I've called, I've emailed. The owner will not answer, no refund has been forthcoming. I indicated I was willing to settle on a partial refund, when the employee on the phone suggested they should be paid for the visit. OK fine, let's just get done. Nothing. Now I'm preparing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and a small claims filing - and I'll be asking for the whole thing. The service visit was clearly incompetent, as evidenced by my dryer at this moment humming along quietly after a substantially simpler and less expensive remedy. And it's been fine for months now, so not a temporary fix. So - no fix, incorrect diagnosis, bad management, you name it. I'll certainly never use them again. Update - I went there in person today. I told them had submitted this review and one other, and had filed with BBB. I told them if refund received before next business day, that I would rescind BBB complaint. I did not commit to removing reviews. They have since left a voice mail saying the owner is furious and wants me to remove reviews. When I read the guidelines for removing, they strongly discourage removing for financial consideration. And as every word here is true, I'm letting it stand. I went with them after seeing 5 star average on Home Advisor. I will never know if other reviews were removed under pressure, and if that rating would reflect what I found to be their level of service. But I'm not going to contribute to others being mislead. I got an used coin op washer from them a year ago. Even though the sale guy told me over the phone that the machine was totally refurbished, the washer was out of balance on day one. I had to change out all balance springs and counter balance bring to make the machine spin at normal speed. When I called and reported the issues to them, they told me that it was due to my tenants abusing the machine. When I took out the old springs, none of them were replaced before. Mark has to be the most dishonest person I have ever dealt with. I made an error in over paying him, he did acknowledge it, said he would send me a check, and never did. FIVE TIMES, he has told me he sent the check. Told me he had my address wrong, told me check came back, etc. I even sent a self addressed envelope to him, and I never received my money. Plus, the work he did was horrible, and was broken again with in 3 weeks. I would highly advise never using him. Using him has given me more headaches then I can count. Just a horrible experience. After the technician determined that our washer could not be repaired, we decided to purchase a refurbished machine as it fit our budget and they promised next day delivery. Machine was not delivered next day as scheduled without even giving us a curtesy call. When I phoned, their excuse was their delivery person called out of work and if we had bought a machine from Lowes, Lowes would not have had it delivered the next day anyway. We bought a machine from Mass Appliance because they promised next day delivery. In any case, they showed up the following day unannounced with our machine. Marc is one of the most knowledgeable and efficient professionals you will meet. He was able to come to our house on the very day our GE Profile fridge broke. He was able to provide a temporary fix so we did not lose all of our just purchased food. The very next night he came back with the parts at 7PM and stayed until the job was done. I would recommend Marc to anyone who need s a knowledgeable mechanic.
