Wanted to try a different massage place in Lake Forest. Found this on yelp and decided to give it a try because of the reviews. Eekeks! Methinks not. it was a bit confusing when we entered the building because of the lack of English speaking skills from the employees. We were not sure where to sit and if we needed to take off some of our clothes. My masseuse was a male. He had cold hands, very cold hands. I thought they would warm up once he got started but they were cold from start to finish. On top of being cold, they were clammy, sweaty. It was not a good feeling. I felt very disgusted and uneasy. Plus, he seemed new as he was mimicking the lady next to him who was providing services to my boyfriend. The overall experience was not good. Massage was more on the side of applying pressure and rubbing each body part up and down. Too much focus on the head that didn't really do much. No focus on the neck at all besides rubbing the sides at one point. Too much focus on the butt, almost of the point of feeling violated as they were going super close to my private area. Communication was not good as he didn't speak English so there was no conversation about how he was doing, if he needed to apply more pressure or not. Found a coupon on my windshield for $20 30-minute back neck & shoulder massage ($25 originally plus $5 for hot stone minus a $10 discount) so I decided to go. My shoulders had been really hurting and I thought it would be beneficial. The woman who massaged me was really rough but I like a deep pressure so I didn't say anything. But then the massage kept going way too far down. I don't remember adding a butt massage. Then she climbed on the table and started using her elbows a lot. It felt like she was trying to finish the massage to get me out of her hair. Afterwards I actually felt more sore than I had been when I walked in. My therapist, an older lady, was a very kind woman; this review is not at all a reflection of her. My usual massage place didn't have an opening for my preferred time, so I decided to try here. I unfortunately am not planning on returning, despite my kind female therapist. First of all, the information on Yelp regarding this business is outdated. Shame on the owners. A 1-hour treatment is $60, more expensive than my usual place. I gave it a try anyway. The rooms are not private, and my therapist, God bless her, was a bit on the older side and seemed to have mobility issues. She would push on my muscles, although she didn't seem to have formal massage training, and due to her mobility issues could not apply too much pressure to me. I gave a $10 tip, and felt bad for her, so I ended up giving a $20 tip when she asked for more money. Again, I felt she was a very kind lady, but I couldn't in good conscience recommend Head 2 Toe's services to anyone else. I've also noticed that, at Chinese owned spas, the therapists will ask for more tip money. I suspect this is a cultural import from immigrants from the People's Republic of China. As a good faith piece of advice, it is unacceptable in American culture to request more gratuity. While tips are de facto (if not legally) required for services such as massage, it is considered rude to request more money out of someone for a service. read more

I had to leave the place before my session ended. First: price was 10 dollars more than advertised. I paid it anyway. Second: the woman that gave me the massage was terrible. No flow to her movements at all. She started in my mid back then rubbed everywhere with no sense or meaning. Rubbed lower back.. Butt.. Mid back again.. Few seconds on the neck then back to the butt. When she attempted to do any deep tissue it was like a very inexperienced person just pressing down in random places. My neck and shoulders were stiff before I went there.. Now it feels worse. I decided to check this place out tonight. Treated my friend. I wasn't thrilled that we had to share a room (I didn't have an appointment and they were booked), but it was ok. The owner, May, set up a divider. There were some loud ass kids hanging around outside, but they eventually shut the door. My friend said her massage was one of the best she's had (guy's name was Peter). I had May (the owner) and she was fantastic. You can tell if a massage is good by how drugged you feel when you leave. Being as active as I am, I often find myself with extreme back pain. It doesn't help that I have scoliosis. So after a few days of enduring this pain, I decided yesterday was the last straw and that I needed to get myself a massage. I was looking for somewhere with good pricing and with great service, and I found myself the very best. Scrolling through the comments on Yelp, I decided to give Vanessa a try. In short, Vanessa exceeded my expectations. I went in for a 60 minute full body massage and she did such an amazing job. She knew all the spots on my neck, shoulders, and back that needed to be tended to, and she kneaded my muscles with the right amount of pressure. Don't let her fragile figure fool you! That woman is strong! Not only was she great at the massage, but she was also very kind and very sweet; attentive to all my needs. Yes, it's true that the staff can speak limited English. Luckily for me, they speak Mandarin so I was able to communicate clearly. One thing I was horrified about was having witnessed a customer sexually harass a staff member in the lobby. He literally treated her as though she were a piece of meat and attempted to goad her into giving him another 30 minutes. When he looked at me, he voiced his assumption that I worked there even though I told him it was my very first visit and that I had never been there before. Then he proceeded to sexually harass me too. I was appalled and my biggest regret was not having said or done something about it before he walked away, because I was afraid of embarrassing the owner and the staff member. Yes, the owner witnessed the whole thing, and no he did not do anything. In part of that, I think the owner lacked the ability to understand what had unfolded due to the language barrier. I'd also like to add that this establishment is clean, friendly, and a safe environment. It is NOT the type of establishment where you request "happy endings", as this horrible and ignorant man had assumed he could. A massage parlor is NOT a brothel, and it is wrong for anyone to think so. Otherwise, my experience at Happy Head 2 Toe Massage & Spa was an excellent one, and I do intend on returning. read more

Over all, very good experiences for reasonable price. Will go back again and highly recommend. Update: went back few more times and the experience keep on getting bad. The price went up significantly. Even the worn out and torn towels didn't get upgraded. I gave it 5 stars initially, but I'm changing it down to 2 stars and won't recommend. There are a lot of places that do better massage, more curious and speak English for lower price ... with better towels. Oh, and prepare to pay for shower with no soap and really looks nasty (and rags for towels) even if you pay the $60. There is a Pizza Place right next door and you can hear EVERYTHING, including screaming children playing the arcade games through the wall. Came here on valentines day with my husband. I must say it was beyond a great experience!!! The atmosphere was soo relaxing and they offered champagne and hot stones with our massages. I'd been here before a few years ago with a friend and we had a pleasant time so I though my husband and I could try it out. We we walked in I was very surprised to see that the waiting room was much smaller than before and painted lime green. I could tell we were their only customers as they turned on spa music after our massage started. The place hasn't been well kept. There is a huge hole in the ceiling and everything was dirty. The entire time we could loudly here the pizza place next door. The lady giving my husband his massage smelled of cigarettes and dumplings. We could tell that a few people might live there as we noticed ladies shoes lined up along the wall, colorful sleeping blankets on a bed, and a suitcase behind the bed. They don't speak English and lingered around waiting for a tip before attempting to ask for one. I would give them credit for trying to make a decent living and the massage wasn't horrible but the ambiance was very sketchy and we ended up very sore and bruised the following days. Over-priced for the service that you receive. My husband and I went in for a couples massage last weekend. The overall experience wasn't terrible, but the masseurs did not listen to the areas that we needed worked on. In fact, they went softer on those areas, but applied more pressure in others. We felt as though they completely ignored our requests and proceeded to go about their own way of doing it (perhaps a language barrier has something to do with it?). This was literally the most horrible massage I have ever received in my life! I had a male masseuse ( I use that term very lightly) From the constant noise of children next-door at Mountain Mike's pizza, to the rudest, unprofessional male masseuse ever! He rushed through the massage, he was very rough, had no routine, apparently no training and seemed like they found him off the street. You definitely get what you pay for. Do not waste your money, time, or energy visiting this horrible place. I'm warning you, the inexpensive prices lure you in. However, don't be tempted. You will regret it. Bought a groupon for this place. The Groupon clearly states the $35 paid never expires though the 75 minute massage ( a higher value) did expired. After I noticed it had expired I called and was told I could still apply the $35 to another massage but they just didn't have availability that afternoon. So I was in the area and called to get an appointment to apply the $35. Despite reading directly off the Groupon that the $35 never expires, the lady declined to make an appointment and told me to take it up with groupon. I asked for the manager- manager was not there then told me to call back Friday. I tried to clarify that the manager would be there Friday but could not confirm as she told me to talk to the "receptionist ". Sadly to say this has been the worst massage my husband and I have ever had. Our Thai massage was booked and desperately needed some tension release. We love supporting family owned businesses and thought we would give this place a try. I had to repeatedly ask her to press harder. She grabbed the back of neck skin like a was a kitten and did the entire message with her forearm. It was very painful, especially the arms, she pinched not massages them. the stones were so hot I was left with a welt mark. The best part of the message was when she left the room. I got a massage tonight. They took me and my gf late so i was happy with that. We both got the 30 min/back, neck and shoulder massage. It was 80 % back and 20 % shoulders. I was expecting my neck knots to be rubbed :/ it was okay. I liked that she worked her elbow, and that they were able to take us in right at closing but we got a RUSHED massage. Everything was done in a very fast motion, and we paid the same amount as anyone else wouldve paid at a normal time.
