Worst massage ever! I went to Massage Place for 20 years (the prior owner) and Massage Hub does not provide anywhere near the quality massages Massage Place did. It does not appear that the owner of Massage Hub is ensuring that his/her massage therapists are properly trained. Had a 1 hour massage and all the female therapist did was dig her fingers into the bony joints along my spine. Manipulating the joints of the spine is dangerous and nothing a massage therapist should be doing. I had to stop her and tell her she was hurting me and to focus on massaging my muscles. She then attempted to do this but it was clear she didn't know how to do this. I left my massage in pain when I had no pain when I arrived. My massage therapist also looked like she hadn't slept in days. I had purchased a package and want my money back. I had one prior massage at Massage Hub and the therapist was okay but he used CBD oil on me without my consent. I am allergic to anything from the marijuana plant and was very upset with him as it made me sick. I will never go to Massage Hub again! read more

Marissa at Massage Place is the best massage therapist I know! I met her almost a year ago when I randomly went in for a massage in town. As a former NCAA athlete turned bodybuilder, I was constantly sore and dealing with previous injuries. Marissa is an expert at what she does whenever I have an impingement or tight muscle, she knows/finds where the root cause is and helps alleviate tension in places I didn't even know existed. Keep in mind that Marissa does not only specialize in athletes. For the past six months, I have been diagnosed with Emphysema and could not get out of bed due to my extreme shortness of breath. When I first came back to see Marissa, I did not know if she would help. Nonetheless, she got creative and thought about which areas to focus on. We targeted my chest, stomach, traps, forearm, tricep, mid-back, and hip flexors. When I left, I was able to feel instant relief from my shortness of breath and feel less tense in the next couple weeks. Although this was not the cure, I appreciated her thoughtfulness and effort and was glad to feel a bit better. I have been going here for 13 years. Along the way I have had some excellent massages and also some that were not to my liking but that is neither here nor there. Today I treated myself to a birthday massage! LOL. After 10 minutes of having my skinny back massaged with an elbow I said I wanted to leave. I was told that if you ever did not like your massage you could tell them within 15 minutes to not have to pay ( I have Neve done this in 13 years of going there!). He said I could do 30 minutes. He continued to rub my bones with his elbow. Not only that but the AC was beating down on me and I was numb. So cold that the guy said I was very cold. After thirty minutes I left the room sad and told the manager that the AC was too cold and that I did not enjoy my massage. She charged me $50 for it and was SO RUDE! I told her I had been coming for over a decade and had asked the guy to leave the massage after 10 minutes. I didn't expect it for free but I certainly expected her to be respectful and have some sort of customer service. Due to her being so rude and unhelpful I will never go to this place again. Don't go here if you want to have a trained masseuse give you a proper massage. I just got back from my 60 min deep tissue massage and although the woman was nice, it was one of the worst massages I have ever had. It was obvious she had no formal training. No knowledge of actual musculature (I think my spine is bruised), no flow, skipped whole parts of my body and the parts she did massage, they were not massaged the same way or for the same amount of time on the right vs left side of my body. She literally did not massage any muscle- It was elbows, forearms and digging fingertips. My hairstylist had given me a better head massage. In one hour I never laid on my back and at one point, I had my foot 'rubbed' with one finger. It was so strange and at times painful. (She attempted pressure points but didn't know where they were.). To add insult to injury, I arrived 10 min early and started my massage late, but ended on time. Sounds like a typical occurrence, after reading other reviews. I miss the old owners at this location. The massage place was great. Too bad. Not worth the discounted price. I've been here a few times and had good experiences especially for the price. This last time I went though I got a massage that was so rough I had to book another one at a different location to recover physical and emotionally. I would not recommend a massage here if you have any body trauma that requires a gentler approach (eg any sexual assault trauma). This is the best deal in town guys. I am a big spa and massage junkie and I cannot rave enough about the massage place. Their therapists are all professional, well trained and work at many of the fancy Spas where you will pay 3 times the amount. Here they work mostly on tips so please don't tip the typical 20%. I usually do $20 for a 60 min and $35 for a 90. Even so this is the deal of the century especially if you buy their discounted packages during most national holidays. Had a massage with Nick and he was so great! Perfect pressure. He started with Thai then transitioned to Swedish and he found all my knots and tried to break them up. The only weird thing was that I was expecting to be outside since they had tables set up outside but they put me in a room inside which made me a little uneasy. I stumbled upon this place randomly and the advertised 1hr massage caught my eye. Their prices are unbeatable! Some quick tips: They offer several types of massages. I tried a couple of them to find out what I like best. The Swedish massage is nice for relaxation, but it doesn't really work out the knots in my back. I prefer the deep tissue massage with medium pressure. This choice is really up to you and depends on your pain tolerance. Different masseuses have different styles and expertise. I tried a couple of them and discovered that I like some better than others. There was one with a chiropractic background; I really appreciated the extensive training she had. There was another one who didn't exert enough pressure. The point is people have different preferences and it takes a few tries to find the right match for a masseuse. I have gotten a masseuse who was still a massage student (some people might be appalled because of her lack of experience). However, I thought she was very skilled and more sensitive to my needs than the other more "experienced" masseuses. A few reviewers complained about the noise level, but not me. I haven't really heard anyone talking over the nature soundtracks. In my opinion, it's the noisy customers who are at fault, not the establishment! This place may not be your idea of a fancy spa, but I've had great experiences here that leave me relaxed and pain-free! Yes, it may lack in decor and ambiance, but I'd much rather put my money towards an affordable 1hr massage than to an expensive 30min massage in paradise. Quality massage over froufrou! read more

This place is the best massage for the price on the westside of Los Angeles. I have been going here for years and the price allows me to go more frequently. My favorite massage therapist is Kobe. He is very strong and gives a deep deep tissue. He also knows the human body very well and is intuitive to what I need. Part of what keeps the prices down here is that they don't pay their massage therapist as much as you might see at other places, so given that, it is nice to compensate them fairly though larger tips. read more

This is a very clean, professional place to get a great massage at a very reasonable price, 7 days a week. Massage tables always have crisp, clean sheets on them, the rooms are disinfected between clients, and I noticed an air purifier working in the room, which I appreciate. I also like that parking is available in the building, which is especially convenient on the weekends, when parking would be otherwise hard to come by. I see Kobe, who is fantastic: one of the very best masseurs in town, with strong hands and a very chill manner. He's skilled in a variety of techniques, including Thai, which I like especially for the stretching and (if desired) back-walking. My therapist was amazing! She knew exactly how to work my shoulders, neck, and back like I needed. Her deep tissue was actually a deep tissue. So why the three stars??? My appointment was at 5:30 pm and I arrived at 5:15 pm. I filled out paperwork (which took less than five minutes) and waited. I was not brought back until 5:35 pm and by the time I undressed and therapist knocked on the door it was already 5:40 pm. When the massage was over it was 6:29 pm. I can understand if I was late and the massage was cut short, however, that wasn't the issue here. I made sure I arrived 15 min prior to my appointment time to make sure enough time was given for paperwork and disrobing. It would of been nice if I was given the full hour. read more

This review is mostly about Katherine/Katie as she goes by, as well as, the lack of knowledge/professionalism when scheduling. I asked for a firm massage from someone strong. They booked me with Katherine/Katie. She started by wiping my body down with a hot wet towel - never had that before at Massage Place, also totally revealing my butt (another first for this place). Within minutes of the massage starting, she was crawling on top of me. Obviously this was going to be a Thai massage. Since that wasn't what I booked, I corrected her. Her massage continued to be very Thai influenced with me laying on my sides for part of it. Katherine obviously didn't understand my direction that I didn't ask for or want a Thai massage. I will give Katherine one compliment - she did more work on my hips and glutes than anyone. Note - you better be comfortable with your body exposed - butt, boob, etc, because she didn't take much care to be discreet. I partially blame the receptionist for this bad experience. When I checked out, the receptionist said she had me down for a deep tissue - there's obviously a big disconnect between reception and the therapists here. I've had a few good experiences at the Massage Place, but too many bad experiences too. When I spend the massage time crafting my Yelp review in my head, that's a sign that it's not relaxing. To The Massage Place - you need to be more clear about your therapists skills and matching them to what your customers ask for. To customers - ask a lot of questions about your therapist choices; ask their specialty, number of years practicing, etc. This is a 'bargain' massage place - I guess you get what you pay for. read more
