I had a microwedding in October 2021. Our ceremony was held at Holy Spirit Church and we wanted to do an intimate dinner celebration with our family nearby and not at a hotel. If you live in the Tri-City area, you know there aren't many options available. I knew their food was good because we dine here occasionally, but I was very hesitant about booking Massimo's for a banquet. When I inquired about booking a private dining room, Tracy gave me a walkthrough of the facilities. Still I was a bit hesitant, but she did all she could to put me at ease. I am so glad we had our dinner party there. The room was beautifully set, our party had our own bathrooms, the buffet was setup nicely so it didn't get crowded, and Tracy was even there to ensure that everything was going as planned. Tracy and Carlos were a huge help in getting the music set up and making sure everyone was comfortable and had enough to eat. Erika was our bartender and she did a wonderful job. The dinner parter was exactly what I wanted, intimate. Everyone had a great time and more importantly, the food blew everyone away. Thank you so much Massimo's! read more

So how is it supposed to be a nice fancy restaurant, when you are literally sitting next to a bunch of really drunk guys yelling at the TV? And the food was beyond subpar. My brother hosted a 25th anniversary celebration here and it could not have been more perfect. The staff set up a nice area outdoors for the renewal of vows ceremony. Then we all moved indoors to a private dining room and a great italian meal. Service could not have been better. This is one of the best dining options in the area and I wished it was closer to us. We went to Massimo's on the recommendation of many Fremont residents for my birthday. We ate outside due to having an unvaccinated child with us. The outdoor patio had tables nicely spaced apart and on that particular day it was a bit windy despite tent walls to shelter the outdoor patio dining area. Heat lamps helped with that. Ambiance is definitely much nicer and more upscale/romantic inside. Our server took good care of us, there were no issues. The food was good, though not spectacular and worthy of the price tag (though I may be biased having grown up on New York Italian food). Our server did bring out a complimentary birthday ice cream for me, which was appreciated. No complaints about the food or the service, just didn't find the menu and quality to be unique and worthy of the price tag. read more

My first time here despite having been in Fremont for quite sometime. So the experience here starts right at the door with the nice ambiance and interior. Next up was the host and she was super nice. She got us the table and checked in on my kid brother. She asked how his school went and what he learned. That was an excellent touch and probably the best part of the entire visit. Next up was the service and the food. Now the food was good. I can't say it was great but it was pretty good. And for the price they are charging the portion size was pretty decent as well. Now moving on to the negatives. First of all we got the bread and butter after getting our appetizer. The second issue was the slow service. At one point we were ready to pack our food and order some dessert and the server just didn't show up for around 15 mins. The entire dinner from getting table to paying the bill took around 1 and half hour, maybe a bit longer. This was a problem as my kid brother had to get back and finish his homework and get to bed since it was a school night. Overall I feel it's a decent place with some room for improvement. This was a solid 3-star experience. I've definitely had much better food, but I've also done worse! My colleagues and I were in Fremont for work and Massimo's looked like a nice restaurant. The atmosphere is very nice - good decor. The hostess was friendly enough, but a bit odd and morose. Our server was extremely friendly and competent. My two dining partners had Caesar salad and said it was very good; it was made table-side. I had a cup of minestrone; it was fine. For entrees, I had the chicken parm. It was fine - it tasted like jarred sauce and it had a slice of cheese melted on top, like an open faced melt/sandwich. I wanted it to be baked cheese on top, brown and broiled and bubbly. My colleague had the eggplant parm and said it tasted like it was made the day prior. Another colleague had the rigatoni and enjoyed it enough, but said it was very heavy, full of cream. The husband and I decided to find a local place to eat dinner and stumbled upon Massimo's. Neither of us are the biggest fan of Italian food, but I must admit the food was delicious and worth the money! The husband ordered the scallop and garden vegetable risotto. He was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the risotto was so much that he's willing to come back around for another plate. I on the other hand got the fettuccine carbonara. However, service was spotty and the staff were often loud and inattentive as they held their own conversations not focusing on the guests. Came here for our 17yr wedding anniversary with my hubby last Friday, we had reservations for the dinning room. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff was great. We started off with hot bread at our table then we ordered their calamari, mozzarella and tomato Capri as appetizers along with our main entrees and some wine. The food was really good and well seasoned, the chicken breast piccata was cooked to perfection. My family and I went here for Mother's day and I was quite disappointed with everything. The last time I was here was about 5 years ago and wow this is not what it used to be at all! Our reservation was set for 2:30. When we arrived they walked us to our table which ended up not having enough chairs and plates. Awkwardly standing in the middle of a crowd of people eating, we left to another room where they had another set of tables for us. Fine, simple mistake, w/e. We sit down and the waiter quickly rushes to have us get drinks and order. We notice on the menu that the Mother's Day brunch menu is basically ending soon so they can close up for a few hours and prepare for dinner. I wish they informed us before we made reservations that they shut down around that time to prepare. Or stop reservations at 1 so the guests won't be rushed out like we were. I can see the sweat rolling down the waiter's face as he rushes to get our order in so it can be cooked and we can eat and leave. I ordered the crab cakes, a steak, and creme brulé This is one of those restaurants where they give you a big plate with the tiniest servings to make it look fancy. Sadly, not only was the food not filling, it wasn't even good. My steak was well done (tough) even though I asked for medium. Obviously, I could have asked them to recook it, but with the way they were rushing us and literally speed walking from our table to the kitchen I figured I'd do them a favor and eat their bad food fast so I too could leave early. The veggies were way overcooked. Like it had been sitting in the corner of a heated pan for hours about to be thrown away. Overall, my grandma and mother would have rather went to Spaghetti Factory, Pasta Pomodoro, or even Olive Garden for better food and service. We basically paid way more for nice table cloth covered tables, wine glasses, rushed service, and small overcooked food. I'm usually lenient on big parties and on busy days, but this is Mother's Day and something as simple as this turned into a disaster. I don't know what happened but years ago this place was amazing. As I've stated before, I only like to review when the experience was either outstanding, or very bad. Anything in between really doesn't really mean much, at least to me. That said, I am compelled to share this review with my fellow yelpers. First off, the food was outstanding. I had the "Rigatoni ala Massimo" I added a pinch of salt and some red pepper flake and couldn't have been happier. Ate the whole thing and used my bread to soak up any last drops of the delicious sauce. 5 stars in my book. Second, I sat at the bar as I was alone, traveling on business. There were two regulars dining at the bar as well. I know they are regulars as they seemed to know more that a few people in the place. Anyway, these guys were quite loud and obnoxious. One in a tank top and telling his friends of his latest pornographic experience. Okay sure, I was sitting at the bar BUT there were tables and some nice people sitting at them nearby. To me this was way out of line and not at all what I've ever seen at a restaurant of this quality. Finally, I need to touch on the bill. I was surprised to see that a 5% local surcharge was added to the SUBTOTAL. Than the regular state/local 10% tax was added to that! considering the service was fair (not great, not poor) I only tipped 15%. Ok, again not a big deal but the tax, tip and fees added up to 30%. I'd love to back and try again one day. Just will need to select a great table should I have my family with me. read more

Inside is nice and pretty fancy. The hallway was decorated for Christmas and they had a nice tree. Our waiter was alright, he seemed a bit snobby to me. The waters came out fast though. When we couldnt decide what to order, he recommended a few dishes we should try. He didnt mention how much it was though.... and he spoke so fast that we could barely understand what he was saying. Mini sampler: appetizer with fried zucchini, calamari, mozzarella sticks -- average. salmon with orange glaze: tender salmon with vegetables -- good rigatoni ala massimo: soft rigatoni pasta, but a bit salty, but lots of flavor -- might get again swordfish + spaghetti: appetizing and full of sauce -- good fish special of the day: filling, but kind of dry -- okay italian rum cake: ice cream was refreshing after carb-filled meal, but the cake itself was slightly dry, but okay tiramisu: chocolatey and alright. i dont even want to know what the overall price for all of this was, but each person had to pay about $40 bucks... and there was 6 people. bathroom is pretty nice though!!! very clean and decorated LOL overall, this place is an okay place to go to. I'm not fond of the prices since i'm still on a poor college student's budget, so i'm pretty sure i'm not coming back anytime soon... i think i'll pass and go to some other place for italian food. read more

Over priced mediocre food. Unfortunately my family came dressed from the days activities. It seems we were "overlooked" often with the other tables receiving much more attention. None of the specials were explained to us but every other table got a detail description and recommendations. This was a birthday dinner, even after my spouse informed the hostess, no recognition. Went for dinner for my husband's birthday. Service was great from the start. Our dinner was exceptional! We had a large plate of carpaccio and a beet salad as appetizers, really yummy. I had the double cut pork chop with a delicious sauce. The chop was cooked perfectly, moist and tender with potato purée and crisp tender veggies. I had arranged for our company's holiday luncheon of 39 people. Tracy and her staff were very helpful and responsive in helping me to set the event up. Our email conversations were professional, concise, and very informative. On the day of the luncheon, I was given the opportunity to come in early to meet the wait staff and to prepare for the luncheon. There was enough space to lay out the tent/place cards, etc. A table had been set up for the two appetizers that were ordered. When it was time to dine, the staff consisting of Jaime (sp?), Dan, and Sylvia were friendly, attentive, and professional. They took care of our drink needs very efficiently. The courses were served as planned. The real surprise for me was just how tender and tasty their Filet Mignon was. I'm typically a ribeye guy but their filet was cooked medium-rare to medium, nicely proportioned, and grilled to perfection! The accompanying sides were good as well, just not a memorable as the filet. It takes a skilled team to serve 35 portions of filet at the same temperature. Bravo guys! read more

We put in our food order and as expected it took forever to get our food. I get the chicken parm and it was.. decent, portions were small, chicken was much too breaded and cheese taste was overpowering the tomato taste... 4/10. Throughout the entire meal our server checked up on us 0 times, once again after the WONDERFUL start I sort of expected that. I was planning a dinner party at Massimos, which I will not do so now, due to how one of Massimos managers by the name or Sarah treated me on the phone. I had requested information on a possible surcharge added to our bill. When I requested this information it was like she was offended by my question. She did not let me speak, and then hung up on me. I have never been treated this way, especially by a manager of a restaurant like Massimos that is more pricier than others that I have been to, I expected much better From Massimos. It is now about principle of how I was treated on the phone, no longer about any surcharge question that I never got an answer on. I will assume Sarah was having a bad day. Today was suppose to be a treat coming to a restaurant that looks like it was mid to high dining. Here's the reason why I won't come back. I ordered the Lasagna Al Forto -- or whatever it's called. It's described as a lasagna layered with beef,pork, and some other meats. Here's what I got: One microwaved day old square of over cooked pasta with burned groundbeef and costco quality ground meats that I could not identify. This order was the following -- NOTE, not baked and i'm 90% sure it's microwaved or just thrown into some warmer from a day old make. A - NOT BAKED -- if you bake a lasagna, the cheese on top would actually blister and brown, even form a crust.. mine was gummy and tasted of day old food. B - the groundbeef or whatever meats they throw in was more than a day old and microwaved. You get that dry crusty side, meat was over salted, not to mentioned burned (they probably prepped by sauteing the meat, but burned it and still stuffed it in there) and the sausage that was mixed in was literally in it's casing. When I said over salted, i mean you can taste salt grits in your mouth as you took a bite -- I thought it was dirt at first, but undesolved salt. C - The cheese on top was gummy and just really bad quality. D - pasta sheets were mush, complete mush. Overcooked and just tasted like liquefied cotton. E - The greens were liquified and really just awful. Dark green and probably going bad. F - the ricotta, of what appeared like ricotta looked like a block of cream cheese, tasted of nothing. couldn't tell with layers. G - sauce was almost non existent. I didn't even eat like 10% of it, just moved it around. I'm pretty sure that they had some aluminum tray that they made this in within the last couple of days (more than 1) and then just microwaved it as the order came in -- that's the only possible way I can think of. I hope this made your mouth water. After complaining to the waitress, I was hoping this restaurant had some integrity and know this is crap. Nope -- this restaurant didn't even offer any cancellation to the order or offer a refund. They offered more food -- I don't want to taste more of your bad food after you gave me a block of crap. As mentioned, the restaurant shamelessly kept my order and did not even try to offer a cancellation. Take my 24 dollars for this meal. Over priced and low quality food IMHO. Here's the total of our order: 1 - tomato and bruscetta - 12-13 dollars for 4 pieces of crappy toasted bread. Sorry, for 12 bucks you can afford to give us a bit more toast and more than 30 cents worth of tomatoes... the balsamic and garlic wasn't even much, and plated on some costco spring mix - yes I know this mix well. some sprits of kirkland balsamic and boom. 2 - the calamari fritti - 18 dollars for 3 fried medium cut up squid. could have given more considering it's close to 20 bucks and squid is cheap. cocktail sauce is not made in house, it's bottled, almost like a cheap catsup. Their other sauce tasted like watered down chowder drenched in butter. 3 - my wife ordered the chicken parm 20 bucks?, it was a half piece of thigh or breast with overcooked pasta on the side 4 - my order was the horrible lasagna. All in all, total came out to be roughly 100 dollars. They had the nerve of charging a 5 % service fee on top. Yeah... this was really a regrettable meal. You want better pasta, go to Dino's takeout in newark -- low key and much better quality. Pasta won't be mush and over cooked. Classic tastes. I was going to order the rack of lamb, but I'm SOOOO happy I didn't. I probably would have been furious with the crappy quality food. Wait staff was pretty crap too -- person who brought us water mumbled and I couldn't tell what was going on. Person who grabbed our plates was complacently doing so and didn't bother to really engage. Waitress was ok, but really didn't care about how unhappy I was about the meal. She offered desert to compensate, but no, I refused -- don't want to eat any more crappy food. She told us that the kitchen was backed up -- with the quality of food we got, I cannot imagine backed up with what?... Happy that we're not coming back -- guests were loud and obnoxious and this fake sense of high class dining with low quality food. Beer menu was limited to only domestic bottles. We've been here for Valentine's Day, our wedding anniversary, my husband's new promotion, and now this time we celebrated the success of starting my own business and flourishing in year 1. There food is always fabulous and flavorful and every fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection. My husband isn't fond of this style of cuisine or getting dressed up, but the food is so good he's in love every time. We were lucky enough to get in without a reservation for the live music on the patio by the talented and relaxing Rolando Morales. It was such nice guitar and singing and very romantic and lively with old songs while we held hands and I had some lovely Pear Martini's with Grey Goose, tasty, strong, and an awesome price. We stayed twice as long as planned enjoying the ambiance and our rum cake dessert was light, fluffy, and so delicious. I'm in love with every pasta I've gotten here but their Chicken fettuccine Alfredo is so many layers of creamy, cheesy spices I'm always tempted to get two dinners haha. We had Fish of the Day last visit and the Mediterranean Sea Bass then was knock off your socks fantastic. This visit we had Petrale Sole with garlic potatoes and veggies and everything was very good, I definitely stole several bites from hubby's plate. I actually phone in a complaint and may update this review again based on their ultimate response We took a party of 6 and ordered the Cesar salad to be made at the table. It was a disaster! The waiter used the ingredients for a salad for two and made a salad for six. He used one egg, one half lemon, no Dijon, no Worcestershire sauce and the amount of garlic paste/anchovy for a salad for two. I think it was lack of training as otherwise the waiter was attentive and pleasant. But otherwise, the meal was lackluster other than the bruschetta. The calamari was overly breaded. The table bread was meh... first delivered with three pats of butter for 6 slices of sliced bread. I would expect olive oil as a dipping sauce with better bread. Nobody raved about their meal. The cheesecake was not NY style (having worked in the city... nah). One of my guests had veal for the first time in his life. He loved it and others I know who dine here regularly rave about it, so maybe... My risotto was okay, but not great. So what can I say? The ambiance and service were great, and it you are from this area, this is one of our nicest European restaurants and a great date-place. Just don't go expecting great food. read more

Came here for a team dinner with Pre-fix menu. Decent sized restaurant with a separated area for big groups like us. I quickly decided on the Risotto with bacon and shrimp. It was beautifully presented and cooked. Enjoyed every bite of it. Other choices included Chicken, Salmon and a veggie version. Chicken was average. Salmon was pretty decent per other coworkers' feedback. Services was a bit lacking. We did have wine ready at table side. One of my coworker wanted a cocktail but the waiter said only red wine and beer were available. I didn't understand why. And you would think it would be quick when you have a fixed menu. Came here to celebrate with wife and two kids for New Year's Eve. We ordered two cocktails, lasagna, double pork chop, and cheese ravioli. Each entree came with soup and desert. The food and cocktails were great. The only issue we had was that service was lacking quite a bit. The cocktails came out first, after we finished the cocktails, 20 mins later, server asked if we had already finished the soup or still waiting, and our response was... still waiting. Server then went to rush the soup out. After the soup, we waited another 45 mins, only to find out that a table that had came in after us, managed to get their food first, and that ours will be "fired up" and coming soon. We got an overwhelming feeling that she forgot to put in our order. Luckily there were complimentary bread and butter. At this point our 2 kids were hungry and losing patience, so we fed them screen time on our phones. Finally the food came out, but it wasn't the server that brought it out, but the chef I presumed. After we devoured the entrees, we waited for desert to be served. All in all, after the entire experience, we had spent about 3 hours at the restaurant. A bit too long for 3 entrées.
