First time dining at Massimo's. Had a great experience. The interior has a classic and intimate ambiance. We were pleasantly welcomed by the receptionist who walked us to our table. We were seated on a booth with a comfortable red tufted leather backing. It helps to have an early reservation to get the best seat in the house. Around 7pm, the restaurant started filling up. Good sign that this establishment is a favorite among the locals. The food was delectable. Our meal started off with some warm bread, butter, and a balsamic sauce. It was so good that I regret not asking for another serving. We ordered the Cesar salad for two and I love that it was prepared before us. It was perhaps the best Cesar salad we've had, not just for presentation, but flavor as well. The filet mignon was very tender and savory with the Cabernet reduction. My friend loved the risotto with the scallops. We shared a plate of tiramisu and enjoyed the rest of the evening with espresso. The waiters and receptionist were very attentive and spent some time to chat with us. Overall, it was a lovely evening well spent and a privilege to be served by such friendly staff. Hey everyone! My wife and I had the house to ourselves this weekend, so we decided to NOT cook dinner. Instead, we ordered for pickup the family meal for 4 from Massimo's....WHAT A DEAL! We chose the lasagne which came as four huge portions of the rich casserole rife with a bolognese sauce chock full of pork and beef...Delicious! Accompanying the lasagne was an extremely fresh house salad with a side of house-made vinaigrette, an immense portion of veggies cooked perfectly and an entire loaf of garlic bread. To say we were satisfied is an understatement. We intentionally ordered enough to have as leftovers for our Sunday lunch following church. There is plenty for at least four more people. During the pandemic and this period of sheltering, I highly recommend this great deal for your family. You won't be disappointed. read more

I came here for a dinner event and Massimo had a three course meal with shareable appetizers at the beginning of dinner. The fried calamari was okay, the bruschetta was good, and the artichoke dip with bread was very creamy. I got the New York steak, which came with mashed potato and some seasoned veggies. the steak had a lot of tendon in it, I wasn't a huge fan. Granted, it was a huge slab that they gave you. The tiramisu was good, but I liked the cheesecake better. I don't know if I would return for the items that I tried, but maybe a pasta dish here would be better. read more

We dined at Massimo's to celebrate the incoming New Year. We have been to Massimo's in the past. We had a reservation and we were seated immediately. As in the past, the food was excellent and so was the service. Prices for the New Year's meal seemed higher than normal but included three courses: starter, main and dessert. The wait staff was excellent. Our waiter, checked in with us several times and dishes were served by others when needed. We enjoyed our dinner. By far the worst service I've ever experienced. This place will not be getting my clientele or any recommendation to anyone I know. I was given a gift certificate to this place last weekend. I'm glad I didn't have to spend any money here. I did not leave a tip, this type of service doesn't deserve any tips. This place doesn't even deserve a star. She was yelling at coworkers to do their jobs correctly. And very under staffed. 2nd the food was disgusting. My calamari was completely drench in oil. No sauce was given with the calamari. When asked for sauce it took 20 minutes to receive the sauce. The burger that was ordered looked sloppy no type of presentation to the plate whatsoever. Hosted my husband's 50th birthday with a group of 40 guests in their party room. Was extremely happy with the whole experience! Dilay Onur, Banquet and Catering Manager was just awesome; very professional, flexible and prompt with responses. She guided me through the whole process efficiently and catered to all my last minute changes. It was such a pleasure to work with her. On the event day, the assigned bartender and server were good and efficient. The party room was spacious and adequately set up. What a grand surprise to return to Massimos and see the quality and wait staff are superb! Drinks were varied and ample. The Bruschetta was most unique, The linguine pescatori was loaded with a goodly sample of clams, salmon, shrimp, crab, mussels and cod in a ample white sauce. Don't order the fish. My 33.00 plate of halibut was so over cooked , dry and chewy it was like halibut jerky. The risotto was cold. They offered to replace with the sole which had a heavy but bland butter sauce that was unappetizing. Not to mention, everything is ala carte, so when the waiter asked if I'd like soup or salad i thought it came with my meal...but it didnt. Great cup of clam chowder which ended up costing an additional 8.00. along with a glass of wine for 10.00. (Normal prices). By the time they added a gratuity, local surcharge my meal cost $69.16...and I really only ate the chowder and drank the wine. Also, they would not split the check, and when the food came out they had to ask who had what and brought some salads that weren't ours. i would not go back. There were 8 adults and one child in our group and it cost $429.88. good grief! read more

We went here for my early birthday celebration and our server was Taylor and even though it was his second week, he did a very amazing job! He was friendly, attentive, and really helped tie the evening together! The ambience was good and my husband had a very good time. When it was time for dessert, there was a chef's special that he was able to describe to us and made us very excited for the dessert which was very good! He made sure we were happy throughout the meal and we were more than happy! Later after walking by our table twice and looking specifically at it, and our empty bread basket, we had to ask for additional bread and when more than one person expressed out thanks she rudely didn't even respond. The second basket was hard. We have been coming here for over 30 years and have always had wonderful service and food. It was quite a disappointment as we were celebrating our 49th wedding anniversary. I was overcharged. I paid using their contactless method, received an email confirmation of 181.24. Later when I see my online statement I was charged 236.24! I spoke to my cc company, and was informed they added a $55 tip for themselves; which comes out to a 30% tip. I had my graduation party at Massimo's last Saturday (6/24). We had over 150 guests and used all of their private event rooms combined. The buffet was fabulous and the guests kept going back for more! if you're looking for a great venue with amazing food to celebrate any event, I'd highly recommend Massimo's! Working with Cassandra and the rest of the staff was great! Cassandra was great in quickly responding and being flexible with working with me and my family. On the day of the staff was very kind and professional. Also super kid-friendly, they even had meals for the little kids (chicken nuggets and fries) if there were any picky eaters. 3 of us came for lunch. Quickly got seated. The service was on the spot. Not overly present but got drink refills quickly and orders taken. I had the salmon bacon open face sandwich. I expected a medium sized single slice serving. It was humongous! 2 slices of nice crunchy toast one of which was leaning on this absolute mountain of salmon, tomato, bacon, salmon leaf lettuce avocado. There was at least 4 long slices of perfectly cooked bacon. I was totally blown away. I chose the fruit instead of chips and also expected a few berries etc. instead there was at least eight generous slices of several types of melons and pineapple. The others had the tuna and chicken breast salad. The portion sizes were great. I think I had the best of the lot though. This is a fabulous place for a great lunch. Damn if this restaurant doesn't always satisfy. Great service and great food. Tonight was the Xmas Eve special dinner. Each of us had a different meal and all were exquisite. Petrale sole, short rib, pork chop and scallop risotto. Not a bad dish ordered. We are so grateful for Massimo's which was my mother's favorite place. So it's bittersweet since we lost her but it brings back good memories. Thank you Massimo's! Had another very very delicious meal last night with the best server Sunny. Skip this place. Nickel and dimed at this place. We ordered drinks and apps. Then the older waiter took the dinner order and said "soup or salad." This implies that it is included. He did not ask if we would like to ADD a soup or salad. Fast forward to getting a check with $8 per person charge for it. This really made us feel taken advantage of. Most of us wouldn't have ordered the soup if we knew it wasn't included. Food review: Calamari and bruschetta good. Skip the burger, had better, needed a real bun instead of cibatta. Lasagna does not have a description - warning, it has mushrooms, so if you don't like them, you'll be bummed. Carbonara, not traditional and just ok. Besides the automatic gratuity, there was a local 5% surcharge. Let's just say, we all felt taken advantage of here and will not be back. The extra local surcharge fee is ridiculous. If you can't pay your employees a living wage, you shouldn't be running a restaurant. Eliminate that and raise your prices if necessary. read more

We tried the cedar planked salmon and garlic bread loaf, and could see why they topped the favorite items list. Just the right taste and amount for us. The kids said that Massimo's has the best garlic bread they had ever eaten. I would recommend both if you don't know what to order, and wouldn't mind trying these again next time I visit. I have lived in Fremont for over a decade and have passed by and heard about the restaurant multiple times. The owner and employees have been trying very hard to stay afloat in face of hardship caused by the pandemic. No. What the hell did I just pay for?? No seating so we ate our dinner at the bar. There was one bartender for a bar with no open seats and the whole restaurant. I felt really bad for the guy. He was too busy to take our order for a long time. The food was WAY over priced for what it was. Everything tasted like it came from a box. Tastes like everything is several big vats and then pooled together on your plates. Prison food? My Caprese salad was decent. The sauce was perfect but every single other part of this experience was regret. Shouldn't have sat here, shouldn't have ordered this, shouldn't have come. Came here for a work event recently and while the event was great, I can't say I was very fond of the food. The salmon was a bit dry for my liking and wasn't too warm so it got cold before I could finish it. The mashed potatoes weren't good either and the vegetable were under cooked. Also, the bread was really stale, hard as a brick. I'm pretty disappointed because I've heard good things about the restaurant and have thought about going, now I don't think I'll be back. Very good service, and food. We had the spaghetti and meatballs which were cooked perfect and seasoned well. I had the wedge salad and soup also both almost perfect. The salad wedge had just a bit of brown on a couple parts but I sliced it off and ate the rest which was delightful! They even had the desert we love, affocato which is and espresso shot over one scoop of vanilla gelato. The missing star is mostly because out of nowhere, someone in the hallway yelled loudly and cussed, startling us and one other occupied table. We all looked at each other and tried to make light of it by making funny comments but it wasn't funny at all. I did mention it to the hostesses in the way who said they didn't hear anything and were not aware of it. Our first tastes at Massimo's was the stuff five-star reviews are made of. French bread that was so warm & soft & more delicious than average table French bread. Large pieces of cajun rock shrimp lightly battered & fried sitting in butter & garlic, just begging to be sopped up with aforementioned french bread. We couldn't believe we'd found a winner! Unfortunately, our enthusiasm was extinguished with our entrees. Minestrone's broth lacked flavor. By the time we got to dessert (bread pudding), Massimo's had dropped down many stars by our estimation. How can a few items be so delicious while the rest be oh-so-mediocre? Did not get a hospitable vibe from our waiter. He was brash, rushed, and inattentive. Few incidents that irritated me: -- I asked to substitute roasted potatoes instead of the risotto that came with my entree. Waiter hesitated & said, "We're low on roast potatoes." His message was unclear. Are you so low that you can't serve me the paltry portion in the back or did you just not want to give them to me, specifically? In the confusion, I think we (he) agreed on mashed potatoes. -- When my picatta came out, there was the risotto I didn't want. Waiter did not notice. -- I ordered strawberry shortcake for dessert, which they ran out of. He assumed, "You want tiramisu instead?" I'm sorry, when did I express an interest in tiramisu? Our waiter put me off completely to ever trying this place again (which is perfectly fine because a 25-minute drive is too long for so-so entrees/dessert.) I love this place as they make great food and has a nice upscale dining area. Going here for decades and it still is consistently excellent. Loved my scallops, slightly pounded with a light egg batter that melted in my mouth with that white sauce. The mashed potatoes were excellent with a light touch of garlic. Bread was fresh baked and I had several pieces with butter that was delicious. This place does well with the older richer crowd and may not appeal to younger energetic customers but I could be wrong. read more

Although the main course was good, the service was not at all welcoming, the server took over 10 minutes just to greet us, didn't care to mention the specials until asked about them, was very vague when asked about something and didn't even present herself. At the end of the night my fiancé and I were just waiting for this horrible experience to end. Without a word she swung by the check and left, it wasn't until she brought back the check to be signed that she cared to acknowledge us. We pride ourselves on being great toppers because we know what the service industry can be like (our family owns various restaurants around the Bay Area) but the fact that our server and her support team lacked the presence and manners was a complete disappointment. As we were waiting other people came up to us to ask if we had been helped. We were seated not too long after. The seating was a little weird.. the table was set so that you're sitting next to each other instead of across from each other. I noticed some reviewed mentioned the crowd was older.. We went on a Wednesday night and this was true. We were the only ones under 50? It kind of made us feel like we didn't quite belong. Our server came out and gave us plenty of time we ordered the calamari which was delicious and it came out shortly with a basket of bread vinegar and olive oil. I had the primavera with fetticine. the helping size was HUGE and it was quite tasty. My friend ordered the steak and also said it was pretty good. We were a little apprehensive about the food after reading reviews but we were content with it. We were way to full to order any desserts and the server asked if we were celebrating.. like we needed a reason to be at the restaurant? ha ha Maybe I'll bring my parents here or come when I'm a bit older?
