Tiramisu
Sandee L.

The lightest tiramisu I've ever had! It was like a delicious cloud melting in my mouth! My mom booked our annual extended family dinner at Massimo's. Just shy of 30, we got a private room for our buffet dinner for a three hour block. On the menu: caprese salad, Caesar salad, veggies, rigatoni with Massimo's sauce, mashed potatoes, beef with mushrooms and salmon. We were also served bread and butter at the tables. Everything was fresh and plentiful. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth and I was impressed the beef with mushrooms maintained a perfect medium pink even sitting in the chafing dish. Service was very good. My aunt complained the salmon was undercooked, and they took it away and returned with it promptly (more overdone then, but that's what happens...). 3.5 stars rounded up.

The food is super good. From outside this place looks like hole in the wall kind of place but once you taste their food, you regret nothing. Food's cooked to perfection. Salmon came out perfectly cooked and ravioli was very soft and delicious. The deserts we had were ooey gooey great! Service is good. Will go back again.

Massimos's has always been a known 'fine' dining option in Fremont for as long as I can remember. We went here to take my parents to a nice dinner for their anniversary. They chose to eat here so we made reservations. It was nice inside and we had a good waitress. Drinks were pretty good. Food was enjoyable. What was not enjoyable is they allowed a dog in a stroller to come into the restaurant. This was not service dog. Unfortunately, based on where I was sitting at one of their round tables, I had to watch the whole thing unfold. While the dog was cute, it would quietly yip and they would take it out and let it run around on the seats and then they put it back in and then the girl was either posting pictures of herself on social media or she'd get up and stand up and tell the dog no and then go sit back down or hold it in her lap. The guy pretty much did nothing. But this is a total turn off. And I'm a dog person. I have two myself, and my brother has two, I take my dogs wherever I can, but not to restaurants, especially "fine dining" restaurants. Based on what we paid for our meal, including leaving a hefty tip, with desserts and drinks included, while it was fine, there are so many other places with better food. I don't think we'll be back.

Had an amazing dinner experience with my fiancée. We made a reservation around 5 o'clock for a same-day reservation at 7:45. We were greeted and quickly seated and Suni was our waitress (pardon my spelling). She was so kind, took cute pictures of us, and just had friendly conversations all night. She made sure we had drinks and bread all evening. Food was DELICIOUS- hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The broccolini was savory and the tiramisu was sweet. Thanks for a great date night!

I came here on a Friday night with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary. Super cute restaurant. Feels very intimate. I love bread and butter! The service was a little slow. The vegetable soup tasted a little bland. I got the bucatini pasta and added prawns. The pasta was great but I was a little surprised that there were just three prawns. The complimentary tiramisu cake was delicious. It had the right amount of sweetness.

It was a hidden gem that I found to celebrate my husband's birthday . We wanted something quiet and unique and closer to home. Beautiful ambiance.Loved the colors of the interior and we could have a conversation without the background noises that you encounter in other fine dining places. Our server Sunny was super friendly too. The food was delicious and flavouful!!!

Salmon Dinner

This is our second visit to this restaurant. Both have been for seminars sponsored by our financial advisor. The meals were held in a private room with an audio/visual capabilities. It seems like both times, I had the same meal. We're offered a choice of Steak, Salmon or Vegetarian. Both come with a separately plated salad and finish with dessert. The salads are well composed and dressed. Too bad we ate them before I remembered to take a picture. She had the steak and said that it was quite good and tender. I had the Salmon and it was quite tasty as well. Both entrees came with Mashed Potatoes and Steamed Veg. Warm bread and cold butter was served after everyone was seated. I did not see the vegetarian dish but some diners said that it was a decent and interesting eggplant dish. The only real negative thing I have to say about the meal was that all of the butter that they served was straight out of the refrigerator and rock hard. Next to impossible to spread on warm bread or on your steak. Service was adequate but could have been a bit better. I was not offered a refill on my soda during dinner or nor coffee after dinner. That could be due to the fact that it seems like two servers had to handle the 34 diners and they could only run out what they could carry at one time. It might be good to invest in a rolling cart and plate covers so everyone can be served hot food at the same time without putting the servers at risk for an injury. I was curious and looked at their online menu to see what all else they had on offer. It didn't seem that the banquet offerings are part of their regular menu but we're still considering going down and giving them a try some night.

Odd Locals and bar flys who know each other. Asked about a table of one knowing OpenTable was fully open and the host seemed confused then pointed me to the bar. I wanted to eat there anyway. Service was almost nonexistent but I was able to get a glass of higher end Cab. Big TVs at the bar and above the fireplace so everyone can catch the game instead of enjoying the company if their family and friends. Haha. Carpaccio hard to tell you the quality and flavor of the beef as it's drenched in balsamic. There are some onions and a small amount of capers then a lot of shaved parm and more balsamic. I prefer it simple. This is too much. Lasagna not for me. It's not dry but there's a drying taste to it. No hint of sweet in the sauce and the cheese is thick. No balsamic. My first glass of wine was empty for some time including a clearing of the balsamic. When the lasagna came and the bartender walked away I asked for a glass of Merlot. A carafe came out to refill my cab glass. Missing the attention to detail.

Ethicon conference

My colleagues and I attended a conference held here at Massimo's and I have to say the food was actually quite impressive. Located in a large shopping plaza, Massimo's offers plenty of parking although I would be cautious on the liquor store side. Upon entering, you'll see a long hallway with a few rooms to the right hand side. Restrooms are located on the left hand side and they are gender neutral single person stalls. The room our event was held in was quite dim with sub optimal photo taking lighting. The projector made it easy to watch our slideshow presentation with a few hiccups trying to get the audio to work properly. Now onto the food, the preset menu featured appetizers to share, choice of salad, choice of entree with one vegetarian option, and one dessert. The appetizers were great starting off the meal with calamari, bruschetta, and fried zucchini. The bruschetta was really the standout dish among the three with its buttery toasted bread and acidic yet juicy cuts of tomato. * Caesar salad - This salad was refreshing with the crisp romaine lettuce and creamy Caesar dressing. The croutons were a bit too large for my preference but still a great starter item. *fresh baked bread - this bread comes out hot with a side of salted butter. You really can't ask for more than that. 10/10 especially when toasted hot. * filet mignon medium rare - This steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare I have to say. The steak itself was tender, seasoned well, and had a nice seared edge. Honestly, its the best filet mignon I've had in a long long time. The mashed potatoes were fabulous- decadent and garlicky. The vegetables were a bit greasy but cooked well otherwise. * tiramisu - this was perhaps the downfall of the preset menu however, the rest of the meal made up for the dessert. The tiramisu was quite average in taste. It tasted more like store bought tiramisu that had been sitting in the fridge for days at a time. It was so soggy and lacked that thick creamy mascarpone topping. This was a sad excuse for tiramisu. If you have the option, choose the cheesecake. You'll thank me later. Service here was top notch. The waiters were professional, courteous and kind. They refilled our waters and cleaned our table inbetween courses. Massimo's exceeded my expectations with a fantastic pre set menu full of quality made dishes. The food presentation was fabulous and the filet mignon was better than most overpriced steakhouses I frequent. I would skip the tiramisu next time and opt for a different dessert item.

Came here for dinner with my parents and we were very satisfied with our experience. We ordered: 1. Fried zucchini 2. Crab and artichoke dip 3. Some tomato based pasta (forgot the name) 4. Chicken piccata 5. Filet mignon The appetizers (1 & 2) were both good, and they also brought out complementary bread (with free refills), we got pretty full off of these before our entrees even made their way to us lol. The pasta was very tasty, even my parents who typically do not like tomato-based sauces enjoyed it. The chicken piccata (4) was a hit with my mom, it came with 2 huge pieces of chicken, some veggies and mashed potato. Lastly, the filet mignon (5) was nice and also came with the same sides. We ended up having a lot of leftovers since we did over-order a bit. But the food was tasty, nevertheless. This is definitely considered one of the more fancy restaurants in Fremont, so the prices do match, but I think it is worth a try if you are looking for some good Italian food.

*LOCATION* This restaurant is in a plaza right off of the 880 freeway, next to the Lucky's supermarket. The entrance is kinda hidden and hard to find but maybe because it was nighttime when we went. Plenty of parking right in front. *WAIT TIME* We made a last minute reservation (~30 minutes beforehand) on a Thursday ~7:30pm for Restaurant Week. A hostess greeted us when we arrived and we were quickly seated. Our waiter came by with waters and gave us some time to decide our orders. *FOOD* -Minestrone: lots of veggies, yum! -Massimo's Meatball: the most delicious meatball with marinara sauce, tastes exactly like spaghetti and meatballs! -Breast of Chicken Picatta: we thought the chicken was a lil on the dry side and a tad too lemon-y in our opinion, risotto was good though! -Double Cut Pork Chop: v tender pork chop paired nicely with the port and cherry sauce (perfect amount of tartness), creamy buttery mashed potatoes, this dish was the star of the night! -Tiramisu: super creamy and not too sweet -NY Style Cheese Cake: loved the strawberry coulis, tastes as you would expect! -House red & white wine *SERVICE* Great service from the moment we stepped in to the moment we stepped out! *AMBIENCE* This restaurant is a great place for a date night or celebratory meal. We loved the fancy-feeling atmosphere and the classy vibes.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality felt a bit inconsistent. Our server wasn't very friendly, which made the experience feel a little off from the start. That said, the inside of the restaurant was really nice--clean, with a cool atmosphere and plenty of TVs. Unfortunately, the soda machine seemed like it needed maintenance, as the drinks came out flat or had a strange taste. As for the food, the garlic noodles were definitely a highlight--delicious and flavorful. However, the seafood boil was disappointing. It lacked seasoning, and everything seemed to be sitting in oil rather than a well-balanced sauce. For a group of 15 ordering crab, king crab legs, and shrimp, we expected much more flavor and quality for the price. Overall, we really wanted to love this place, but the experience didn't quite meet our expectations for such a special occasion.

My ultimate birthday go-to for fresh seafood and steak!…read more Market Broiler Fremont has been my absolute go-to spot for birthday celebrations for years. When you want a consistently great meal to celebrate a special occasion, this place always delivers a solid 4-star experience. Here is why it keeps winning out over other chain options: The Apps to Start: You have to start with the appetizers here. They bring out that warm, fresh sourdough bread to the table which is dangerous because it's so good. Pairing that with their classic seafood apps like the crisp calamari or a shrimp cocktail sets the perfect tone for a birthday dinner. Fresh Fish & Steaks: For the main course, their menu hits the perfect balance. The fresh fish is always cooked beautifully, flaky, and high-quality. If you're looking for land instead of sea, their steaks are consistently juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. The Vibe: Sitting in the Pacific Commons location makes for a great, lively atmosphere that feels celebratory without being overly stuffy. It's a reliable local favorite that never fails for a birthday dinner. Great food, solid portions, and always a great time!

The staff was incredibly nice and super attentive to our table the entire night. Food-wise, this spot doesn't miss a beat. One of the best surprises was that they offer fresh crawfish, which is pretty rare to find at most seafood boil places. Everything we ordered was packed with flavor, and the garlic fries were amazingly good. Honestly, this boil spot isn't lacking a single thing. Whatever they are doing, they need to keep it up! My party arrived around 6:38 PM and added our name to the waitlist for dinner. While waiting, it became increasingly clear that more than half of the dining room had already finished their meals. Many tables appeared to be staying simply to watch the soccer match on the TVs. I completely understand wanting to enjoy the game, but at the same time there were 4-5 parties waiting for tables, with groups of various sizes. This raises an important question: at what point does management step in to balance hospitality with serving waiting guests? While no one should be rushed through their meal, when tables have clearly finished dining and a long wait is building, there should be some effort to manage table turnover during peak dinner hours. After waiting about 45 minutes with no indication that seating would happen anytime soon, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. Ironically, we didn't receive the text that our table was ready until 8:07 PM--nearly an hour and a half after we first checked in. The food may be great, but based on this experience, the waitlist management left a lot to be desired. I hope Backyard Bayou reviews how they handle busy nights and finds a better balance between accommodating guests who want to linger and serving the many customers waiting to dine.

ONE ITEM: TANGSUYUK…read more Normally I don't write reviews of only one item. However if I do crave for an item at a particular cuisine I'll order or it. If I go to a Hong Kong-style cafe and there's hainan chicken I'll order it. If I go to a Korean restaurant I try see if tangsuyuk is offered. However tangsuyuk isn't served at Korean restaurants, but at Korean Chinese restaurants. The dish tangsuyuk was created by ethnic Chinese immigrants living in Korea. Last Saturday night my family came to Seoul Mama for dinner. This restaurant was a last-minute change as the place at the same plaza we wanted to eat was a one-hour wait. When I arrived my sister placed an order for the family. However she said you can order more items. Out of curiosity on the photo section of Seoul Mama on Yelp I typed tangsuyuk to search. To my surprise there were two photos of tangsuyuk. I asked for the server and informed her I wanted to order tangsuyuk. Tangsuyuk is in my top 10 favorite foods of all time. The first time I ate tangusyuk was in Temescal District in Oakland. Tangsuyuk is the Korean version of sweet and sour pork. There is a difference between Chinese and Korean versions. Whereas sweet and sour pork tends to be heavy tangsuyuk is lighter in its sauce (because it's clear) and batter. Also the meat in tangsuyuk is pork loin therefore the dish is lean. Most of all the deep-fried breaded meat is not mixed with the sauce. For this Saturday night dinner there were items such as beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, and pork belly my sister ordered. These items were tasty however I was waiting for my tangsuyuk. I told my cousin about my love for tangsuyuk. He worked at a Korean restaurant and never heard about tangsuyuk. When the tangsuyuk was served I knew from appearance the dish would be delicious. I took one piece and dipped it in the sauce. After taking a bite of the light batter and sauce the tangsuyuk at Seoul Mama had my seal of approval. My cousin ate tangsuyuk for the first time. He responded by saying he loved the dish. While others were feasting on other dishes and condiments I had the tangsuyuk mostly to myself. I've eaten tangsuyuk in Oakland, Santa Clara, Milpitas, and Dublin. Since tangsuyuk is offered in Korean Chinese restaurants you don't see the dish in Korean restaurants hence why I rarely have tangsuyuk. At Seoul Mama I now know I can have tangsuyuk in the Tri-City area of the Bay Area.
