Orange Bike Brewing is such a sweet business. They are incredibly thoughtful and mission driven and are a special haven for those in our lives who can't do wheat. They often partner with neighboring organizations to do great things and the crossover communities are excellent. Have not re-written the review for Orange Bike since their opening. I'm so happy to see them what appears to very well still! I have returned a handful of times with the latest being earlier today! I can't think of a single complaint during any of my visits. They have put out so many beers already and have a great variety of styles! As you would likely already know, all of their offerings are gluten-free. While I am not someone who needs to worry about gluten I am glad this brewery is included in the Portland brewery scene for those who have to worry. Although, I will say that I think everyone needs to come here and try some beers for those who are gluten-intolerant and not! I have really enjoyed almost every beer I have tried so far. Guava Sour and their Low Alcohol Amber Ale were the highlights today. The low alcohol beer was only 0.7% but had so much flavor and the sour was a perfect kick of sour/tartness. Last year they even received Great American Beer Festival medals (silver and bronze) in the gluten-free category The service every time has been phenomenal being greeted with a smile and friendly staff ready for a conversation. Lots of seating options inside and out but I say sit at the bar! Chat about the beers, your day, whatever comes up with the great bartenders! Also helpful tip for those who can't handle gluten they have a nice deal with Bite Into Maine for a gluten-free food menu. Gluten free for all! The options are great from an award winning 2024 Pilsner to hot chocolate Mexican lager. I lined all 4 in my flight! The sours were really good too. Small unusual snacks available. Music was a really nice surprise. Chill music jazz and old blues. Music otherwise is also quite pleasant when no live music is present. I've been wanting to come to this brewery for so long and it finally happened. We came here on a Friday evening and there is plenty of seating available inside and outside. Both my husband and I got a flight and my husband was extremely impressed with how close the gluten free tasted to the regular ones. The service was pleasant and quick. They had a food menu for the next door establishment. We ordered a flight of gf lobster rolls and we picked them up when it was ready. Overall it was such a Lovely and chill experience. I can finally enjoy a delicious beer! I have been wanting to check out this GF brewery and I'm so happy I finally did! I had a flight of four beers, I particularly liked the IPA. Stumbled upon this place when visiting Portland and when I say this is a GF paradise, I mean it. All their beer was GF and their entire establishment was celiac safe. I haven't had such a wide selection of beer to chose from in years! Really loved the sour ale, and had a GF lobster roll flight from the partnering restaurant. We made it for the ribbon cutting grand opening. Cute place, nice and packed with the grand opening, but was able to get tot the bar and try out every brew they had. The two I liked are the lager and the Helles. The others were ok. I'm not an IPA drinker so I don't want to sway judgement. Great spot and happy to see more dedicated GF spots opening up in Maine. I would recommend the Black is Beautiful IPA - it's DELICIOUS and I typically don't like IPAs at all. orange bike even donates a dollar to the Black Brewers Association per glass! The Helles is also fantastic. Great spot for dates, groups large and small, as well as a casual outing with the family. The space is gorgeous and I love that you can see where the brewing action is happening. You can tell the team at OBB really cares about their work and is super helpful and friendly. Although not something I typically look for, I appreciate the addition to the saturated beer scene. Orange Bike's venue is gorgeous with modern fixtures and clean lines. The establishment is equipped with a fitting bar and other table seating throughout the venue. Upon walking in, it is clear that the brewery is going for a chill, relaxed vibe. As my partner and I walked in, Maggie Rogers radio was playing, and there was just a chill vibe in comparison to the busy spots located near Orange Bike...something that I also appreciated. My partner opted to sit at the bar where we were greeted by the two bartenders. Both throughout our experience were very attentive. The offerings at Orange Bike ranged with lagers, stouts, pilsners, and an IPA. I also appreciate that they offer tasting, half, and full size pours. I opted for two half size pours of the IPA and their pilsner. The pilsner had a sweetness to it, and probably something I would not order again, but the IPA was flavorful and not harsh. I will definitely come back to Orange Bike to continue trying their offerings. I have several beer-loving friends with gluten intolerance ranging from mild to severe. They sometimes struggle at breweries not only finding a GF beer, but also sometimes having to deal with adjacency. They were extremely happy - and satisfied - to visit Orange Bike. Their line of GF products, beers and snacks, is perhaps a niche but likely to expand to a market, as you don't need to have to avoid gluten to also enjoy their beers. The selection has a good variety of options. Inside seating is cozy (please, no gluten foods inside), and you've also got chairs and picnic tables outside for nice weather. And they're in an ideal location smack dab in-between several other breweries, so it can easily be included in a visit to many in the area. read more

Wow! This is not a "good for gf" review. The beer stands on its own and adding in the gf is just a bonus. Gluten isn't my friend, but I don't have a medical reason to avoid it and I love beer so it's a regular part of my life. We tried all of the offerings in the tasting room today. I believe it was a Pilsner, ipa, stout, porter, esb, and a Belgian ale. Some of these aren't even types I like very much, but everything was very well done and drinkable. Our bartenders were lovely and full of knowledge. This is a must stop. It's a quick one if you are just rotating through to hit different breweries as they don't have a ton on tap, but each beer was worthy even ignoring the GF point. I'd drink their IPA any day even though I don't need to avoid gluten. read more

Well, well, well. This is a story all about how my life got turned upside down! Relatively new to my EoE allergy(10 years). I have warm thoughts for 2 GF breweries in the last 10 years that hold up. I do believe Orange Bike takes the cake. This space is awesome. The beer is top notch, not quite sure a "regular" beer drinker would have anything to complain about. The staff was awesome, and we got to meet Tom, the owner. Tom is a warm, kind soul who took is passion for beer and the disdain for the options out there and poured it all into Orange Bike. They are partnered up with Bite Into Maine next door that his mostly GF and a super safe place for a snack that you can also pick up and bring back to the brewery. If I lived in the area, I would be there often. I don't, so I will have to settle for driving up, getting lunch and a pint, and driving home. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I don't have a gluten allergy, simply wanted to try a new brewery. For me, it was a 3, but likely a 4 if you're limited by only being able to drink GF beers. Orange Bike is a bit hidden, especially if you're trying to locate it while driving, but it's tucked away behind Bite Into Maine. It's a new build and thus probably either impressive or sterile, depending on your taste. The lady bartending was super nice, I dug the music she had on (Ballad of John and Yoko), and we eventually opted to sit outside next to a nice firepit they had going. Myself and a friend tried 2 flights. I thought the helles lager was really good and didn't note anything that made it taste any different than a glutenous helles lager. The ESB was also great and I would drink that a 2nd time for sure. IPA was okay, but I had a hard time finishing it. The stout was unfortunately one of the worst beers I've ever had with a lingering, awful aftertaste that would not go away. My friend agreed and it's become a running joke. Strangely, I felt the opposite about Lucky Pigeon: that their darker beers were better. I'm not personally rushing to go back, but if you're gluten free, I'd say for me, this is a cut above Lucky Pigeon, with some big caveats. read more

This is my favorite gluten free brewery we have ever visited. The interior is warm and cozy feeling. We were there in October but I can imagine how nice it is on days when the doors are open to the patio. A perfect place to try a flight of beer and relax with friends. Loved the votive candles on the tables. And the owner was so kind & friendly! We live in CA otherwise we would be here on a regular basis for sure. On top of all that the beer tasted great & that's coming from someone who doesn't have to be gluten free. And right next door is Bite of Maine which has gluten free buns for their lobster rolls. They also have delicious pretzels for the gluten eating people. Orange Bike is such a cool place with so many fun events going on. If you're anywhere near them you don't want to miss it! read more
