I've driven past Master Pizza previously but the parking lot was full. I tried it for lunch again today and got a space. This is a small place right on Northfield Rd in Livingston. When you enter, there's a counter to the right so you can dine in like I did. Not a lot of space, but enough. The selection of pies at lunch was excellent. I saw something different so decided to give it a try.... Chicken with roasted red peppers and pesto sauce. It was really good! They also serve a large slice so this one slice was more than enough. The guys behind the counter were very friendly. The one drawback here is that parking can be tough. Livingston is one of the best pizza towns in the state. Placed an online order for a plain cheese, the pizza was ready a lot sooner than stated which definitely was a good thing. The pizza was really good but I'm not sure what that dough was made out of because my stomach have never been so bloated after eating pizza before. The pizza really left me bloated and gassy. Masters uses a cheese called "mob cheese". There was a time when pizzerias in the NY metro area had to use a certain cheese. Ironically the cheese is very creamy and in my opinion the best cheese for pizza. The cheese reminds me of my childhood. Masters still uses this cheese willingly and they have one of the best pizzas in New Jersey. There is always a line in the small parking lot. I travel miles for this pizza. read more

my mom kept saying she has heard great things about this place so after work one day, i stopped by. if you work at St. Barnabas you get a 15% discount which is nice. I personally got the thai chili pizza which was delicious. the buffalo calamari was a steal (you get a lot for what you pay for), the cannoli wasn't worth the $5 though in my opinion.. my sister though didn't like her food - she got the personal pie and thought it was mediocre along with the garlic knots. Since my favorite pizza place in Livingston is closed due to a fire, I decided to give this place a try. The parking here is horrible and there is only counter space to eat on and literally facing the door. The ambiance is something to imagine. So I looked at their specialty prepared pies and nothing tempted me so I ordered two plain slices and purchased a sweet tea from the cooler. Not much of a choice on drinks. The pizza came out and the cheese didn't even look melted, but it was. The pizza had no taste. On one slice I put oregano to try to add flavor but the oregano also had no taste. They need to check to make sure the ingredients in these jars are not stale. The second slice I ate plain. I think a piece of cardboard would've tasted better. The cheese and sauce had no taste. Did someone forget to season the sauce? And where'd they get the cheese from? Cheese always has a taste but not here. I will not be back and don't recommend this place. I understand businesses are suffering due to the pandemic but put some effort in to flavor these foods and make sure that flavors you have to add in jars add flavor and don't distract from it. read more

I work down the street so this is a good spot to get a quick take-out lunch, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get Master Pizza. They charge $1.25 for delivery, which is lame considering I work within a 5-minute walking distance, so if you're close by, pick-up is the way to go. The guys behind the counter are always nice. Also, parking there is basically nonexistent - my suggestion is to park on the side street and walk over when picking up. Some negatives- my office usually orders lunch for a whole office sometimes so we always request that the driver bring extra change and they never do, which is not the driver's fault, but then the driver is forced to make the change with his own cash on hand, which most of the time they don't have enough. It should be up to the owner/manager to make sure each driver has enough money to make any type of change when making deliveries. One driver also explained to us that for credit card payments on deliveries they have the drivers use the "square" for point of sale but the company doesn't provide their delivery person with a phone. So, they are forced to use their personal cell phones, which turned me off and seems to me to be unfair... It appears as if upper management doesn't seem to know how to properly run the delivery service aspect of this establishment. As far as the food goes- they have a daily lunch specials menu that is different for each day of the week. They have a delicious Chicken Noodle/Vegetable Soup - lots of Veggies, the broth is tasty, and they're not stingy with their ingredients. I have also enjoyed their Reuben Wrap in the past (they actually put sauerkraut on it! A lot of places use cole slaw.) Their pizza is so-so; my boss enjoys their plain pie but I found the sauce to be flavorless and a bit on the sweeter side for marinara sauce.
