We didn't realize the chimney had a large internal crack and would require a full replacement and relining. Chelsea's Chimney was fantastic from start to finish. The owner personally came out, inspected everything, and took the time to explain what was going on and reassure me that it could be fixed safely. That personal attention meant a lot during a pretty scary situation. After paying the deposit, they moved quickly, within a week we had an entirely new chimney system installed along with a new cap. The work included removing the old flue tiles and throat damper, installing a UL-listed stainless steel liner with a lifetime warranty, insulating the flue, parging the smoke chamber, and installing a new top tile and top-closing damper system. Everything was clearly explained as they worked, which I really appreciated. The total cost was $5,400, which felt very fair for the amount of work, quality, and peace of mind we received. The craftsmanship looks great, and we now feel confident using our fireplace safely. Highly recommend Chelsea's Chimney if you want knowledgeable professionals who stand by their work and keep you informed every step of the way.

I recommend them highly!!

I put a bid on Home Depot (rookie mistake) and had 2 contractors say I needed a cap that could be installed for $900. That didn't seem thorough so I called evolution chimney. They had a young man and his partner came out and they went in the basement and to the roof and told me all the work I needed done. They had to add a new and wide liner, fix the deteriorating staccato, ensured that there was no chance of carbon monoxide and of course the cap. It was well worth the investment. The first appointment I had there was a scheduling mishap so the woman that took my call offered to deploy an emergency weekend team but I opted to reschedule for the next week. The work was done in a few hours. I was worried about squirrels still getting into the attic so I put a metal trap up there but nothing has been in the attic since and no water seems to be coming through the wall. Highly recommend.

First Class Chimney Services - The replacement of the glass doors after speaking to Josh. 03-29-25

    First Class Chimney Services

Wow I have mixed feelings about First Class Chimney. Let me start off by saying. We rented a…read moretownhouse and used them as a final move out Chimney cleaning and inspection. They arrived on March 17th. They charged us $180.00 for the service. When the tech arrived he cleaned the fireplace and he broke one of the glass doors with his equipment. He said he would replace them at the warehouse within 3 days. I told him we had to turn in keys by the 31st. He promised to have the doors back in 3 days max. Ok I gave them the whole week. No word from him or his manager Josh. Ok so now we are 10 days out and no response and I called Josh and explained that if we are charged for the doors during our walk thru I will be taking this to small claims court. It wasn't then that I was told the doors were available for replacement. Really so you had the doors but didn't intend on replacing something your tech broke until I called again. If you break something it's your job to replace it. Simple as that. If this company had been straight up with me. I probably would have used them for our new house we bought that also has a fireplace. Now I can't trust their services. We'll Josh eventually made sure he replaced the fireplace glass doors two days before the final walk thru so I'm thankful for that. Overall 2.5 stars. Since they finally replaced the doors.

It involved taking days off and moving shifts around. This morning I had an 8-10 window and after waiting an hour, (it was 9:10 when I had to reach out) I should have known better. At 9:10 I called them bc they never bothered to contact me! I left a voicemail about the unprofessionalism and inquired as to were they still coming. Then all of a sudden, Josh calls me saying there was a problem with their vehicle. What a joke/lie! Had I not reached out, they would have never called me. Quite a coincidence that when I left my voicemail, his tech just so happened to call him, to let him know that he was having issues with the vehicle.(All in a 30 second time frame from when I hung up) I asked if they could come out tomorrow and he told me they are closed on Sundays. Well, it's a good business practice while you are still growing to accommodate the CLIENT being that YOUR COMPANY messed up! I have a Groupon which shows they are still trying to gather up business. Well this is not how you do it! Super shady and unreliable. Again, I had this planned for weeks and had to make maneuvers in my schedule. This is a mom and Pop amateur show. Don't waste your time. You do get what you pay for. Spend a bit more $$ and go with professionalism! People that show up on time, and early to get the job done. Not companies that offer lame excuses. I was asked if I wanted to schedule for next week. Maybe Josh did not understand how being that I had to schedule this 3 weeks in advance, that no, I cannot just "Schedule for next week." Total waste. Go with pros that value the consumer's time!

He also provided what next steps would be for a more permanent solution. It was a very professional, friendly service call.

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.
