If I could give this company zero stars, I would! The scheduler (female) is very rude and hung up on me when I asked for the managers name and number to file a formal complaint. When I called her back, she let it go to voicemail. Additionally...the technician was a no show on Friday, May 9th, 2025. My client and I sat and waited 2 and a half hours for him to show up. Price: $180 for a chimney cleaning/sweep I have used B&H several times over the years. They were on time and did a descent job. I was surprised and little concerned that it only took this two-person team 15 minutes to clean and get on the roof to check things out. I was disappointed that they didn't clean the fireplace walls completely (see photo). In the past all of the soot would be washed off. I mentioned something to Tim and he had his sidekick come back to work on it for five more minutes. Still wasn't overly satisfied for the price I paid. $180 seems steep in the DMV region but to be honest I haven't researched other groups. Tim made some recommendations for a few repairs. I was incredibly impressed with B&H Chimneys! Tim was incredibly personable, efficient, and thorough. He took the time to talk me through all the work he would be doing inside and outside of my home, which I greatly appreciated. The best part was having him share the photos of potential items to be aware of over time on our roof and around the chimney, what steps should be taken to address them, but more importantly, providing a time frame on how soon they needed to be completed. At the end of everything, he brought out his iPad, showed me the invoice which recapped the potential issues to address, swiped my card and emailed everything over along with the photos he took! I called in September to schedule someone to come out to look at my mother's chimney. She has stage 3 cancer and has no heat because her chimney was clogged.They called to reschedule her appointment 4 times. 4 TIMES. It is now December. There was one excuse after another, scheduling conflicts, blah blah blah. Tim with B&H Chimney came to our new house for a routine chimney inspection and we were very impressed. First of all, he did the inspection, noted some things for us, but then did NOT push for a cleaning The way B&H does it, the inspection costs $80 and a cleaning (if necessary) costs $40. I figured, "Hmm, wonder if they will recommend the cleaning?" but he said no, your chimney doesn't need it. Note: even $120 is cheaper than a lot of other companies in the area for an inspection and cleaning. But more impressively, Tim found a huge problem with our HVAC venting that we had no idea existed. Won't get into details, but suffice to say this was well out of scope of his assignment / what I was paying for, but he still went the distance to find out what was going on, triage it, and give us recommendations to fix it. Due to other matters we couldn't contract with B&H for the fix itself but absolutely would have. And we would still be breathing in carbon monoxide, unaware, without his above-and-beyond effort. His commitment to honesty, quality, and excellence was obvious from his time here and I highly recommend him to you. Can't speak to his actual installation work or costs though. read more

Great craftsmanship from this business. The crown of my chimney was cracked, and some mortar joints were decaying, letting water into the house. Tim from B&H, who is very courteous and professional, came out and did the repair (in January! I believe we had a slight "warm spell"). A few years later, when a different exterior maintenance company came by to give an estimate on gutter guard installation, the company's owner said he had not seen a chimney more beautifully done. He took pictures of the chimney's masonry work to keep in his files! This is how I know as a layperson that B&H does great work. Having gotten other estimates, I know that the price is very reasonable as well. I couldn't recommend this company more highly. read more

Communication was great, I received a call that they were running a few minutes late which was no problem. They were courteous and friendly and explained everything clearly. I appreciated the realistic time frames for when recommended work should be addressed, ie "you should work this into your budget in the next 2-3 years". i set an appointment three weeks out and took the day off work to be there. ONE HOUR before the scheduled appointment, I received a call that the scheduled employee was sick and they had to cancel. I asked if someone could stop by later in the day and was informed that because they are a small company, there was no one available. in my opinion, this is unprofessional and unacceptable, as I wasted a day off from my employment. read more

So far all work seems fine, and it is great to have pictures. Only one thing holding back a five star rating....they were way up on a three story roof, replacing boards and painting new boards in a wooden chimney. The new boards are now glaringly brighter than the old ones that were not replaced. It would have been so easy to just paint the whole thing while they were there. Wish they had suggested it while on site, or when quoting the work. read more

Very unprofessional. Do not waist your time with this contractor. This contractor was quick to take my $80.00 for a report on my chimneys but when it came to schedule the work and discuss pricing he was a no-show. I called more than 4 times in three weeks, leaving messages on his cell and at the office. I asked that he let me know if he was not interested in doing the work. No return call. I am a professional in the construction field, representing a major metropolitian city. I deal with contractros every day. I was flabergasted at the lack of response from this contractor. I am very dissatisfied with B and H Chimneys. They are contracted through my condo development which in the past I don't believe we had a choice with service so I went with who was provided as they called me to make the appointment, I was not aware I really had a choice (I guess I was wrong). So I made my appointment 2 guys showed up and were there about 15 minutes as I recall but it was last March so my memory is a little fuzzy a YEAR later. They said nothing needed to be done. I was supposed to be emailed recommendations to any issues along with picture of the chimney and dryer. I have been in my condo for 13 years and not 1 time did my dryer not get cleaned . So I get a call several weeks after these men showed up saying I needed to make my appointment. I told the lady I already had the appointment but never received anything.....Well 11 months later I am being billed $189 for NOTHING being done ...I feel like this isn't acceptable at all. They said they would sent someone else out...I do not trust this company at all beings that every single thing that could have not been done or went wrong did. They also used the wrong address on the inspection report. I don't know if I happened to slide thru the cracks or if this is their business practice But I will not be using them again. I can find several companies that do for less than 1/2 (most coupon sites). You will lose business with this neighborhood for sure...too bad you wouldn't do the right thing!! read more
