I ate here as a guest of a financial planner on Jan 28, 2026. We were given a choice of chicken, fish, and the filet mignon costing $70 just for the 8 oz piece of meat. Of course I chose the filet mignon, as did everyone at my table (5), except one lady ordered chicken breast. I asked her if she did not eat red meat. She said she DOES eat red meat. I told her I can't believe that you would order something as mundane as chicken breast, given the option of filet mignon, costing $70 for the piece of meat, and the Host was paying for her dinner. She said something like she just felt like chicken. I never eat chicken at a restaurant unless it is dark meat at an Indian or Chinese restaurant, who know that only dark meat tastesgood. Chicken breat can easily be ruined (which 80% do) by overcooking till the breastis hard and dry like particleboard, and even steakhouses do this! But this lady at my table said that her chicken breast was not overcooked and dry as I described, and it didn't look so. My filet mignon was cooked to my satisfaction, which is rare, and filet mignon tastes like filet mignon if the restaurant doesn't ruin it by not serving it to me, rare! The roasted brussels sprouts were very dry (as they sualy are, not a side I would everorder) and wasnt enough for our table. 2 stars. We took our cheesecake home, cheesecake was unremarkable, compared to the Costco cheesecake bites. I would NEVER pay to eat at Mastro's, cos just a caesar salad or appetizer cost what I would pay for a complete dinner. I like dollar value for food, which is Asian seafood buffets where I could get AYCE snow crab and shrimp cooked 7 different ways, and sometimes oysters on half shell, andother expensive shellfish, and even charbroiled stake for les than $30. I would rate Mastro's 3.5 stars. At least they got my filet mignon cooked the way I want, which other restaurants don't know what rare is, but this is a steakhouse, so they "got it right". read more

Our meal was absolutely incredible. The four of us started by sharing the seafood platter--the oysters, shrimp, lobster tails, and crab legs were all spectacularly fresh and delicious. For entrees, my rack of lamb was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and tasted amazing. The rest of our group ordered the petite filet, American Wagyu, and Branzino, and every single dish was outstanding. To top it off, the service was top-notch. Mastro's was so absurdly good that I experienced something I didn't even know existed: a food hangover. I've had regular hangovers before -- regrettable decisions, electrolytes, life reflection, the usual. But this? This was me waking up the next morning still physically exhausted from how aggressively I attacked dinner. From the moment the bread hit the table, it was over. Honestly, that bread should come with a warning label and possibly a recovery plan. Warm, buttery, dangerously addictive... the kind of bread that makes you start canceling your original dinner order because clearly bread is now the main event. Then came the sautéed shrimp appetizer, which was absolutely disrespectful to every other shrimp dish I've ever had. I'm convinced that appetizer alone could financially ruin me because I'd gladly order three of them and call it dinner. By the time the entrées arrived, we were already full... but did that stop us? Absolutely not. We pushed forward like brave soldiers with no concern for our future well-being. My wife and I shared the 14oz bone-in filet Bruno style -- topped with Dungeness crab and butter because apparently subtlety isn't part of the Mastro's business model. And thank God for that. That steak was so good I genuinely considered chewing slower just to extend the experience. I also sampled someone else's dry-aged ribeye, which was equally incredible and honestly made me question whether cows know they're capable of greatness like this. The sides? Ridiculous. Broccolini, lobster mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts -- every single thing tasted like the chef took it personally. Even the vegetables were showing off. And then came the butter cake. I personally couldn't eat another bite at that point because my body had already filed several formal complaints, but judging by the behavior at the table, that cake could've started a small riot. People were eyeing the last piece like it was the final helicopter out of an action movie. Forks were practically weapons. 10/10. Mastro's doesn't serve dinner -- they serve edible peer pressure. You show up thinking you'll have a nice steak and leave questioning every life choice that led you to believe your stomach had limits. read more

We were invited to Mastro's for a private dinner event. The dinner was fabulous. All the dishes were so good. I enjoyed all the appetizers. The fried calamari and roasted tomato bruschetta were so yummy. I loved how light and crispy the calamari was and it paired perfectly with the sweet and sour sauce. My filet was cooked perfectly. The servers warned us that our plates were gonna be hot before placing it and they weren't lying. I loved how it kept my meal hot the entire time. The cream corn was my absolute favorite - so soo good. The desserts were a good way to end the meal. The chocolate sin cake and cheesecake were not too sweet. Service was very good. The restaurant had a warm ambiance and definitely an upscale feel. Parking was also free and very easy - complimentary valet parking or you can park right behind the building. read more

Service was amazing, our waiter was a bald guy with glasses and he had an amazing personality. We started off with some bread, the bread was very good, however the thin crispy bread slices were my favorite. Please keep in mind they do not have gluten free bread sadly, however, their bread does not specifically contain nuts but is made in a bakery with nuts. As someone with a nut allergy i was totally fine eating it :). The drinks were good as well, though there was a gnat that flew into my moms dirty martini twice but honestly cant really control it so no biggy, they were quick to get us a new one as well. Lighting is VERY dark in here so it was hard for our eyes to adjust at first. I ordered my steak medium rare, it was slightly salty but with the spicy garlic sauce on top(wasn't spicy at all) it managed to balance everything out. My mom's scallops were actually really delicious as well, just wish they had something else with it beside bread because we already had so much bread as is! For dessert they gave me a butter cake with ice cream on top. I can say that the butter cake was EXTREMELY sweet so it was hard to finish. In addition my cousin ordered some crème brulee, the taste was decent but i wasn't a big fan of the texture...I've had better cream brûlée to say the least. Overall 3.5/5 stars but I'll round it up to 4 just because everyone was really nice here and the environment was really welcoming. Not inexpensive, but a top notch steakhouse (and we are from Chicago). One dirty Gibson and a 30 year bourbon at the bar (both superb) followed by an anniversary dinner for 3 at a table in the lounge (wonderful). The singer and accompanying piano player were outstanding. The food - always great. Their cuts of meat and doneness, potato and creamed-spinach sides, as well as the appetizers (shrimp cocktail and pork belly) were on par and delicious. Soup entrees (lobster bisque) was less stellar (too thick for a bisque and almost chunky, not delicate, but flavor was fine). Champagne and wine list was good (pricing and varietals offerings), plus a complementary 3 person desert champagne toast served with a plate of their renowned butter cake (and fresh creme) was a wonderful surprise. The steaks were always cooked to order this time it was well done asked for medium rare. The wedge salad was Texas Roadhouse level. Dang it is used to make my mouth water. The lobster bisque was tasteless and the lobster at the bottom was flavorless. Bread basket my friend loved I thought it was just okay. The butter cake was good. $250 after 20% tip. Mastro's City Hall is my favorite steakhouse to go to the in the valley. The vibes, food, drinks and service is always immaculate. This past weekend I visited for a holiday date night and as usual, it did not disappoint. We tried something new this time and got the Brunson 35 day Dry Aged Kansas City Strip with Bone Marrow Butter and it was so, so, so good. The crust/sear on the steak was perfect, as was the flavor and taste. For the side we got the white cheddar Mac & cheese. Usually pretty good, but missed the mark for me that time due to being a bit dry. I opted for a glass of Riesling, which is always my favorite choice when going with a white wine. The real star of the show for me every time I visit Mastro's is the Butter Cake. Always, always, always delicious. However, our ice cream was left behind when we asked for it to be packed up after a few bites, so that would've been nice to take home. It was a pretty busy night which I didn't expect for a Sunday but still a good time and I will continue giving Mastro's City Hal my patronage. read more

A group of friends visited this restaurant during our stay in Scottsdale, Arizona. Most of my friends had frequented this steakhouse in NYC and really loved their food. We had reservations and was seated right away. The restaurant was beautiful inside and had an elegant and classy feel. We ordered a variety of appetizers before our entrees. I was excited about the food since my friends raved about their prior experiences. Unfortunately my excitement dwindled by the minute because our table didn't receive any food for over an hour. We patiently waited and watch other tables receive their food and left. No one came to our table to tell us about delays. Eventually I went to speak to the manager who profusely apologized and within minutes our appetizers and entrees came out at the same time, unreal! Once my "hangriness- hunger and anger" wore off I was able to appreciate the delicious food on our table. My husband and I dined at Mastro's City Hall for a weeknight dinner date night. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated at a table around the bar area. I liked this seating since we were able to see outside and were close to patio door which let in a fresh breeze. To start off dinner, we got the bread basket. I liked the offering, especially the pretzel bread & the brown bread which had some sort of dried fruit in it. They offer a variety of steaks, as you'd expect; my husband chose one for his meal. I opted to get the crab cake. And we shared a variety of side dishes - creamed spinach, wild mushroom & black truffle gnocchi, and lobster mashed potatoes. This was a lot of food! The sides dishes were large enough to share and quite tasty, although very heavy and decadent. Out of the three, I liked the gnocchi the most followed by the creamed spinach. The crab cake was not too bad, but didn't have too much flavor. I didn't really care as much for the dipping sauce that came with it. My husband said the steak was good, cooked as specified. I'd say overall, 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4. I probably should've sprung for a steak given the general prices since the price of the crab cake really wasn't worth it. Our server was attentive and efficient. When everything was brought out, they offered to serve the side dishes, which was nice. My sister planned for our parents to fly in as a surprise and dinner here with my family was the icing on the cake. Our waiter Billy was phenomal. He was personable, friendly, humorous, and kind. From start to finish this place was top notch. We made a reservation for an anniversary celebration for my cousin and his wife. We loved that the menu was personalized with their names and they were given a copy to take home. It was the first Thursday night of Spring Training and the place was packed; valet parking was wonderful. Even though it was a full house, we still felt as though it was an intimate setting with low light on the table. We all were blown away by the over the top attentive customer service starting with the hostesses and the 2-3 table attendants that always seemed to have perfect timing with delivering and clearing items. I was thinking to myself how interesting that they can take your order with out writing it down and the waiter proceeded to screw up the second drink order. I had kobe beef there once before... best thing I ever put in my mouth. This time it came out blood raw instead of medium rare. At $240 for 4 ounces you'd think they could hire chefs that can cook. The salmon was just slightly overcooked but edible. They screwed up the check to my favor. Had I been more observant at the restaurant I would have had them correct it. I'm usually better at catching those things. They are too concerned with expansion. $580 2 people with tip to just have the worst birthday ever. But that's the way all good restaurants go. I've actually been a long time customer of Mastros for many years now. I'm not sure what happened, it's been about 8 months or so since I went to a location in Beverly Hills, but this trip to Scottsdale just didn't turn out how my usual expectations of the chain are. First and foremost, I want to say that the reason I'm giving them a 3 star wasn't just about the mistakes they made, but more so about how they handled it. Our server honestly seemed like he was very confused, not sure if he was sleepy, tired or what, or maybe just having a bad day, but we got like a weird vibe from him the whole night where he just would respond oddly to us or say things that were out of place. It was just kinda weird. My friends had never tried wagyu before so I was explaining to them all the different kinds of wagyu, the server overheard and said "that's the best steak in the world" to which I agreed. He took our order and I pointed to a $75 wagyu hot stone , but to the right of it there was a $240 one, he didn't ask me which one I was pointing at and I thought it was obvious because my finger was way on the left side where the cheaper one was located. I was coming back in a few weeks and I didn't want to splurge too much on this visit so that's why I pointed to that one. I asked him if they were going to comp any cakes for the birthday, he said they were already going to do that, I told him the birthday boys favorite is the butter cake and he said he would make it happen. We ordered some other stuff as well , and then he left to ring everything up. The drinks came and it used to be that you got almost 2 cocktails from what was left in the shaker, and the drinks also used to be stronger, but now we only got poured half and then half was left in the shaker, and I drank all night and didn't get buzzed which meant that they for sure cut back on alcohol content or portion sizes or honestly it felt like they cut back on both! The food quality was fine, everything else was okay but then one of the martinis we ordered never got there either. The servers weren't checking on us constantly like we're used to at Mastros and they weren't even that busy. Make sure your waiter reads the order back to you because they messed up my order charged me $240 rather than $75 for an item and didn't want to correct the error. I was given 50% off on the $240 and told I would also get the butter cake for free since it was a birthday and it was supposed to be free but then ended up being charged for it anyway. The manager also said they would comp one of our martinis since it took a solid 40 minutes to come out and we had to remind them twice about it just to finally get it. At the end they never did take the martini off the bill, they gave the $16 credit for the cake and only took half off the wrong item. We paid our $349 check and left. Worst part is I felt like the server was trying to deny that he made a mistake and my table all were shocked because they saw me point and didn't hear him read back our order. The manager was trying at first to not credit me what he should have and trying to softly accuse me of lieing and defending his server. I felt like I was playing some sort of negotiation game, it sort of upset me. At the end I didn't get a great experience and I'm really hoping that this isn't what Mastros is like now. I know shrinkflation is a thing now but I rather pay more and have good service than go to a place known for outstanding service and feel like I walked into McDonald's. We were left feeling so-so about the experience. Not sure what happened but customer service used to be better than this in the days of yesteryear. read more

It was our first-time dining at Mastro's, and we chose it to celebrate our 22nd anniversary there, which is also on Valentine's Day. From the moment we arrived, this restaurant exceeded our expectations and made the evening truly unforgettable. We opted for valet parking and were pleasantly surprised to learn it was tip-only. We love when restaurants do that--it immediately set a positive tone for the night. We even stopped outside to take a few photos, and a kind guest offered to capture some pictures for us, which was such a sweet start to the evening. When we walked in, there was a line of people waiting to be seated, and I'll admit I was a little nervous despite having a reservation. But within just a few minutes of checking in, we were seated. The hostess wished us a happy anniversary, and the young woman who escorted us to our table did the same. When we sat down, we were surprised to see "Happy 22nd Anniversary" printed at the top of our menus. That thoughtful detail brought tears to my eyes--and they even let us keep the menus! Our server also warmly wished us a happy anniversary. We've celebrated at other restaurants before where our special occasion wasn't acknowledged, so the consistent recognition from the entire team truly meant a lot to us. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the wine list and answering all our questions. He offered a bread basket, and we happily accepted. The only minor disappointment of the evening was that we weren't informed there was a charge for it. Since it was offered, we assumed it was complimentary. The bread itself was delicious and absolutely worth the cost--it was just the principle of transparency. A simple mention of the charge would have made it perfect. We enjoyed our wine and bread without feeling rushed. The restaurant had a live singer performing love songs that evening, and she was fantastic--it elevated the romantic atmosphere even more. When we ordered, we chose to share a steak and garlic mashed potatoes. We don't eat large portions and often share entrées, especially big steaks. In the past, we've experienced servers becoming less attentive when we share a meal, but that was absolutely not the case here. Our server remained present and attentive throughout the entire evening, which we greatly appreciated. The steak was cooked perfectly medium-well--just slightly pink, exactly how we like it. So often restaurants undercook it, but this was spot on. The garlic mashed potatoes were equally perfect. What impressed me even more was that the food arrived on very hot plates. I love my food hot, and too often at other places it comes out lukewarm. Not here. Everything was excellent. When we couldn't finish our meal, they boxed it up for us. The staff kept our waters full, brushed away crumbs, and paid attention to every detail. At one point, I stepped away to the restroom and returned to find my napkin neatly refolded at the table--such a small touch, but it speaks volumes about their level of service. Our server brought dessert menus but let us know we'd be receiving a complimentary anniversary dessert. We decided not to order anything additional. The dessert was a large, moist slice of chocolate cake with homemade whipped cream on the side. It was beautifully plated with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate and a candle to blow out. It was delicious. As we were finishing our wine, another server or manager surprised us with complimentary champagne to toast our anniversary. We aren't big champagne drinkers, but the gesture was incredibly thoughtful, and we happily took a few celebratory sips. We were there about an hour and a half, and every minute felt special. Even as we were leaving, there was still a line out the door. Multiple staff members wished us a good night on our way out. From the personalized menus to the impeccable service and thoughtful surprises, we felt genuinely celebrated and cared for all evening. Mastro's made our 22nd anniversary unforgettable, and we will absolutely return for future celebrations. We can't thank them enough for making our night so meaningful. Went to Mastro's Steakhouse on 2/13/26 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Our waiter was amazing. He was patient, attentive, and genuinely trying his best. However, the quality of the food was far below what you'd expect from a high end restaurant. When our meals arrived, 4 out of 5 dishes had issues. My brother-in-law found plastic in his steak, my sister's lamb chops were undercooked, my own steak came out rare even though I ordered medium, and my other sister's steak also wasn't cooked to her liking. For a place where steaks run around $90, this is simply unacceptable. Overall, despite the great service from our waiter, the food experience was extremely disappointing. We will not be returning to this location. read more

We came to Mastro's as part of Arizona Restaurant Week. We had a reservation at 6:30, and did not have to wait at all. There were people waiting for tables--perhaps they did not have reservations? When you first walk in there's a gorgeous blown glass chandelier (looks like a Chihuly?). The bar is backlit, making the bottles look beautiful. There's live music which we were told is in the bar, but we never actually saw where it was coming from. The dining room is perfectly dimly lit, perfect for date night. The main dining room is large, but there are a couple of private rooms for their back. There was a screen near the kitchen with the schedule of who is in the back rooms - - there was a bachelor party and a corporate party while we were there. Our server was absolutely delightful, and even offered to lend me his readers when he overheard me say I left my glasses in the car. We ordered cocktails, and they were so good. I got the white chocolate martini and hubby got the Tiki Time and they were both absolutely delicious. They were so large that there was nearly an entire second glass left in each of the shakers that were left on our table. Almost like two cocktails for the price of one! Hubby ordered a second cocktail, the Black and Blue Crush, which has some of the proceeds going to a charity for the children of Mastro's servers. We did have bread service ( you pay for this ). The basket have pretzel bread, dinner rolls, pumpernickel bread, and garlic cheese crostini served with a plate of butter. I could eat that cheese crostini all day - - it was so yummy! I choose the Mambo Salad, which is like a Caesar salad with a wasabi kick. I really liked it--the wasabi took it to the next level. Hubby went with the French onion soup, which came with a garlic cheese crostini. He said it was great. I didn't try it--onion soup is just not my thing. Hubby got the petite filet and I got the pork chop. Both, as expected, we're delicious, my pork chop will served with a pecan sauce. I like the sweet nuttiness with the pork chop. We were so full that we chose to take home a slice of cheesecake, but shared the butter cake with ice cream and raspberry sauce there. Can we talk about that butter cake? It was so rich and luscious and buttery and delicious. I have to say if you go to Mastro's you have to have that butter cake. This place is a little pricey - - even ordering from the restaurant week menu it was $240 for the two of us. If you want to try it, then restaurant week is the time to go. read more

I travel to Phoenix a lot and City Hall is my go-to for an expensive dinner. The steak is the best I've had and the sides uniformly very good. Service is impeccable, and the ambiance is very sophisticed. Be prepared to leave a lot of money behind. read more

This place should have a $$$$$ sign. Upscale is great but $48 for a side dish??? Did not feel welcome by the staggering up front. The kind of sneered at us as we waited for our table. The server came and we let her know we needed 5 min. 20 min. Later she showed up. Too loud for conversation. Having to shout across the table kills the vibe that one comes here for. Wow wow wow, this was hands down the best service I've ever had a fine steak restaurant. Our server was engaging, on top of it, friendly, made jokes with us and Mastro's delivered. We had a flawless dinner service for 11 of us celebrating a work project closing. The lobster bisque you ask? Worth swimming in - amazing, probably my favorite part of the meal. I had a fabulous cocktail, the Flirty Flamingo - incredible. Steak? Perfectly cooked medium rare. Dessert?? Were we stuffed but certainly not leaving without butter cake? Duh - and it was a home run.
