The must get Mastro's Signature Warm Butter Cake
Samuel C.

Mastro's was so absurdly good that I experienced something I didn't even know existed: a food hangover. I've had regular hangovers before -- regrettable decisions, electrolytes, life reflection, the usual. But this? This was me waking up the next morning still physically exhausted from how aggressively I attacked dinner. From the moment the bread hit the table, it was over. Honestly, that bread should come with a warning label and possibly a recovery plan. Warm, buttery, dangerously addictive... the kind of bread that makes you start canceling your original dinner order because clearly bread is now the main event. Then came the sautéed shrimp appetizer, which was absolutely disrespectful to every other shrimp dish I've ever had. I'm convinced that appetizer alone could financially ruin me because I'd gladly order three of them and call it dinner. By the time the entrées arrived, we were already full... but did that stop us? Absolutely not. We pushed forward like brave soldiers with no concern for our future well-being. My wife and I shared the 14oz bone-in filet Bruno style -- topped with Dungeness crab and butter because apparently subtlety isn't part of the Mastro's business model. And thank God for that. That steak was so good I genuinely considered chewing slower just to extend the experience. I also sampled someone else's dry-aged ribeye, which was equally incredible and honestly made me question whether cows know they're capable of greatness like this. The sides? Ridiculous. Broccolini, lobster mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts -- every single thing tasted like the chef took it personally. Even the vegetables were showing off. And then came the butter cake. I personally couldn't eat another bite at that point because my body had already filed several formal complaints, but judging by the behavior at the table, that cake could've started a small riot. People were eyeing the last piece like it was the final helicopter out of an action movie. Forks were practically weapons. 10/10. Mastro's doesn't serve dinner -- they serve edible peer pressure. You show up thinking you'll have a nice steak and leave questioning every life choice that led you to believe your stomach had limits.

Service was a little slow but it was extremely busy. The food was amazing. Ordered the crab claw appetizer, halibut and wagyu steak. In order by favorite, 1) crab 2) steak 3) halibut. Halibut could use some seasoning and was a bit cold inside but it was probably due from not overcooking it. Dessert was bread pudding, which was amazing. Melted in your mouth Drinks was old fashion and margaritas . Yummy

Another fabulous meal! Loved the ribeye black n blue. Started with half house salad which was delicious. Also enjoyed the half Mac n Cheese. Exceptional customer service by Christian and delicious tarty mocktail that he personalized. Management also went out of his way to make us feel welcome and taken care of! The sweet guy who brought our food out and served us was a delight!

Mastro's City Hall is my favorite steakhouse to go to the in the valley. The vibes, food, drinks and service is always immaculate. This past weekend I visited for a holiday date night and as usual, it did not disappoint. We tried something new this time and got the Brunson 35 day Dry Aged Kansas City Strip with Bone Marrow Butter and it was so, so, so good. The crust/sear on the steak was perfect, as was the flavor and taste. For the side we got the white cheddar Mac & cheese. Usually pretty good, but missed the mark for me that time due to being a bit dry. I opted for a glass of Riesling, which is always my favorite choice when going with a white wine. The real star of the show for me every time I visit Mastro's is the Butter Cake. Always, always, always delicious. However, our ice cream was left behind when we asked for it to be packed up after a few bites, so that would've been nice to take home. It was a pretty busy night which I didn't expect for a Sunday but still a good time and I will continue giving Mastro's City Hal my patronage.

What an incredible experience. Steaks cooked to perfection, shrimp as big as a fist seasoned to melt in your mouth, lemon chicken cooked to cut like butter tenderness and the sides.... Oh my gosh the sides were amazing! Highly recommend the creamed spinach and the mashed potatoes. Do not leave without getting dessert... the butter cake is a must. Thank you to all the amazing staff the catered and showered us with kindness service and extra mashed potatoes. I cannot wait to come back

A group of friends visited this restaurant during our stay in Scottsdale, Arizona. Most of my friends had frequented this steakhouse in NYC and really loved their food. We had reservations and was seated right away. The restaurant was beautiful inside and had an elegant and classy feel. We ordered a variety of appetizers before our entrees. I was excited about the food since my friends raved about their prior experiences. Unfortunately my excitement dwindled by the minute because our table didn't receive any food for over an hour. We patiently waited and watch other tables receive their food and left. No one came to our table to tell us about delays. Eventually I went to speak to the manager who profusely apologized and within minutes our appetizers and entrees came out at the same time, unreal! Once my "hangriness- hunger and anger" wore off I was able to appreciate the delicious food on our table. We were a group of 6 and everyone ordered something different so we had an amazing spread of food. Everything was great and fulfilling. The manager did compensate our group with four complimentary desserts that we took care of expeditiously. lol. The staff were very apologetic. Overall the food and experience was good. We still enjoyed each other company with laughs but I did take away a star for the long wait.

Went for happy hour on a Thursday night unexpectedly. We quickly found out that "happy hour" is not even in the scope of words used at this place, haha. We took advantage of the valet parking and snagged two seats at the bar. We ordered round of drinks , then a bottle of wine before placing a food order. The French onion soup was divine! And the Parmesan crusted bread thingy served with it was a great touch. They paired really well together. The restaurant was really intimate. There were love singers who sounded amazing by the way , playing all of the hits. This was my first time there, so I didn't know what to expect. But, I ended up having a great time. The Brussels were overcooked but everything else was good. Definitely enjoyed my first experience here.

Nicole was amazing! Truly made our dinner night an experience. Great service, very social, and even surprised us with a sweet ending! Food superb as always, we visit Mastros often in LA. Will definitely come back just for her and the food of course

Came here right after eating at Uchi on Tuesday evening because he really wanted steak lol. We shared a steak and dessert. It looked pretty busy for a Tuesday night. Service is always good here. We were seated at a different table in the bar area at first but had asked to be moved to the side with booths instead. Staff were all friendly and accommodating. Our order: Large San Pellegrino $10 Ube cocktail w/ Rum $19 Stoli Dirty Martini x2 $54 Bone In Kansas City Strip $73 Creamed Spinach $16 Butter Cake $19 He asked for the steak to come out sliced so we could share. I was pretty full already so only had a few bites. Think I liked this steak better the last time we were here. It needed to be cooked just a bit longer. Wanted to save room for the delicious butter cake! We killed the dessert and I took home the leftover steak and side. I forgot the name of my ube cocktail. It comes with tequila but I subbed it with rum instead since I don't drink tequila. It was good! Im sure we'll be back again at some point

Herb Roasted Chicken* delicious!!!! Love that crispy skin!

Business casual / formal environment. They have a dress code, that I highly recommend reviewing before visiting. They have the ability to deny service based on attire. The food was delicious!!! I loved the bread service. I loved my chopped salad. The crispy skin on the roasted chicken - melts in your mouth delicious. Great service from the front door to the table. The team of staff worked well together and created a great dining experience for everyone. We took a car service, so I can't comment on parking options. I would definitely revisit if I'm in the area again.

Bread Service / Crab Cake / Steak & sides - Creamed Spinach / Lobster Mashed Potatoes / Wild Mushroom & Black Truffle Gnocchi.

My husband and I dined at Mastro's City Hall for a weeknight dinner date night. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated at a table around the bar area. I liked this seating since we were able to see outside and were close to patio door which let in a fresh breeze. To start off dinner, we got the bread basket. I liked the offering, especially the pretzel bread & the brown bread which had some sort of dried fruit in it. They offer a variety of steaks, as you'd expect; my husband chose one for his meal. I opted to get the crab cake. And we shared a variety of side dishes - creamed spinach, wild mushroom & black truffle gnocchi, and lobster mashed potatoes. This was a lot of food! The sides dishes were large enough to share and quite tasty, although very heavy and decadent. Out of the three, I liked the gnocchi the most followed by the creamed spinach. The crab cake was not too bad, but didn't have too much flavor. I didn't really care as much for the dipping sauce that came with it. My husband said the steak was good, cooked as specified. I'd say overall, 3.5 stars but rounding up to 4. I probably should've sprung for a steak given the general prices since the price of the crab cake really wasn't worth it. Our server was attentive and efficient. When everything was brought out, they offered to serve the side dishes, which was nice. If you're celebrating a special occasion, this would be a good spot to consider!

The service here is always great however, this location does have a little bit limited parking and tends to get quite busy in the evenings. The staff are wonderful though, quick to take orders and bring anything you need. I enjoyed the selection of wine that was available . The salmon could have been a bit more flavorful . It had no sauce or glaze . Overall it was a good experience . That kitchen is very busy with staff hustling and bustling to provide an excellent dining experience.

Petite filet mignon
Anne N.

My absolute favorite fine dining spot. The steak and sides always hit the spot! My husband is a big fan of the bone marrow butter, and I'm obsessed with the crab cake. Service is attentive, and atmosphere is perfect for a date night or special celebration. We've tried a handful of steakhouses around the valley, and we always come back to Mastro's because of the consistent quality. Be sure to dress up! They also offer complimentary valet.

For apps we got the lamb fondue which was super tender and unique. Dipping meet in cheese? Literally nothing better. Then we also got the green chili pork stew which is a MUST try! Not too spicy and full of flavor. Also, great for sharing as you fill it in the buttery tortillas. The filet was seriously one of the best I've ever had in Arizona. It has a nice shallot butter crust and it was cooked PERFECTLY medium rare. This was a highlight. The pork chop is huge and has a nice sweetness to it. The meat wasn't dry either...it pretty much tasted like the best bacon I've ever had LOL Everyone must get the green chili Mac n cheese. Not spicy at all just Smokey and tangy and full of cheese but shockingly not that heavy. The pecan pie was unreal. Gooey and sweet but the crust was still super flakey. The brownie skillet was soft in the middle which is how it always should be. Their known for their frozen huckleberry margarita which is a treat in its own but it's not too icey they definitely don't skip out on the tequila. Rachel was our server. She's been there for awhile so you know that they treat their staff well. She was super knowledgeable and honest about certain menu items. I also spoke with the manager, Matt, who was very welcoming and seemed very proud of his restaurant (as he should be). Overall highly reccomend it here. Everything exceeded my expectations. The host told us that there was open seating along the wall or under cover outside. Since the wall was full, we ventured outside near the cooler. We were given water right away but didn't even see a server, Jessica, for 12 mins. We even had to ask her for menus. It was a very awkward start. My wife ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon and a Caesar salad, plus wine while I got the 22 ounce Ribeye and a side of Poblano and PepperJack Grits, plus an iced tea. It all came to $137.11 plus tip. Our salad arrived in 8 minutes and our dinner 10 mins later. The salad was outstanding. Plenty of romaine, dressed with the right amount of dressing, 3-4 croutons and a mound of shaved Parmesan cheese. The salmon was really good, served with sautéed green beans and soy butter. My steak was cooked perfectly. It was seasoned well and the grits were incredible. They were creamy, with pronounced poblano and Jack cheese. It was the perfect accompaniment. Jessica did a great job checking in on us during our meal but, again, it was awkward waiting 15 mins for her to offer dessert and check. We will return but perhaps not during happy hour, when it's very busy but the evening staff hasn't arrived yet.

I checked us in for our reservation and the hostess welcomed us in, then promptly took us to the table that had been beautifully prepared for our dining experience. She asked if the lighting was too dim, but it was perfect. Every staff member was dressed neatly and welcomed us as we walked by. No staff members were running around frantically, and I could tell they are staffed amazingly well. So organized and kind, genuinely smiling at us. I could tell that anyone would be willing to help us, if we needed them! Our waiter, Daniel, came over and again, welcomed us. He let us know the specials of the night and how dinner will be served. Let us know not to touch the 500 degree plates when they arrived. He took out drink orders and answered any question we had. He promptly came back with drinks and fresh, hot rolls!! Daniel took our dinner orders. We all sat and visited while waiting, enjoying our drinks and the hot rolls. Dinner was served on, as promised, hot plates!! Then, they served each of us the crème brûlée corn. All of us that ordered meat, asked for medium rare and we were not disappointed!! Our meats were spot on!!! Perfection!!! The petite filet mignon were very juicy and delicious, as was the New York strip. The Crispy Hasselback Potatoes were so good, especially with the topping. The Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs were so good!!! I feel like our meals were simple yet divine!! After we enjoyed dinner, we were served the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake, on the house!! What a nice touch!! So yummy and it felt guilty eating such a fabulous dessert!! We all shared it! All in all, I wish I could give 10/10 stars!! Such a wonderful dinner experience!! I loved the classic but modern feel of the whole restaurant. Very concerning. We've been here a handful of times before for special occasions and it's been fantastic. However I don't know why the flavors this time just were not it. Everything, I mean everything, was so extremely salty. Not just the seafood tower we got and the lemon pasta but the steak, the sides, everything was so so so salty. I finished 5 glasses of water that night. We also specifically requested to save the bone from the tomahawk because we like to make stew from it. Sure that's not very fine dining of us but I also don't think that's for other people to judge. But the servers didn't pack the bone like we requested. The sides were very delicious though! The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. The popcorn looks ordinary, but made with bacon it is outstanding. We split an amazing chopped salad and I had a Happy Hour sized serving (1/2) of the meatloaf which was great. Beautiful, spotless, excellent service and terrific food.

Instead, we were publicly embarrassed and treated like criminals for absolutely no reason. After we were seated, I closed the curtain because the table next to us was loud and obnoxious. Minutes later, the manager, Hannah, walked over and decided our entire group was "too intoxicated" to be served. Not a single person in our group was causing a scene, being disrespectful, or acting out of control. We were sitting at our table, ordering dinner. What makes this even more ridiculous is that after taking our drink order, Hannah personally brought out three green tea drinks in champagne glasses. Then, almost immediately afterward, she decided we were somehow too intoxicated to stay. Which is it? If we were supposedly too drunk to be there, why were drinks being served in the first place? We had already ordered what would have been around a $700 meal, and instead of being treated with basic respect, we were stereotyped because we were a bachelorette party. It felt like Hannah had already made up her mind before giving us any chance to prove otherwise. Restaurants absolutely have the right to refuse service to genuinely intoxicated guests. What they should not do is make assumptions based on the type of celebration or the size of a group. This wasn't responsible service--it was poor judgment, inconsistent management, and an incredibly embarrassing way to treat paying customers. We'll happily spend our money somewhere that values its guests instead of profiling them. !!! DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS!!! We ended up at ZUZUs, they treated us with respect and dignity. Food was 10/10.

The service we received was superb, and our food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the Hickman Deviled Eggs to start and WOW!! They definitely put their own twist on these bad boys!! They are plated beautifully and taste even better! I chose the Pick Two option for lunch and I was very satisfied. I was a bit worried when someone mentioned the brisket was dry.. although I had a tiny part of one that was dry, the rest of it was juicy and tender. Yummm!!! The Prime Brisket and Pulled Pork were perfectly cooked and d went well with the Sweet Potato Fries. My coworker got the Snitch Burger and even though the bun was on the thick side, it was a tasty burger! Prices are reasonable and parking isn't an issue. This place has a very casual vibe with the bar seating on one side and the dining room on the other. Give it shot and hop on The Joy Bus at Bootleggers Modern American Smokehouse!
