I have been wanting to try this place for quite a while since they have staff members whisking the matcha right in front of you! They were very efficient, despite the long lines, but it was worth the wait. The Iced Matcha Latte (plain, no syrup added) had a deep matcha flavor with the right amount of bitterness and sweetness to it. The Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte was also good, but not really my favorite. It had a nice strawberry jam taste to it, but personally I didn't see anything special about it. Many people ordered it with a cream top though, so maybe that's what we were missing... Cafe-Wise, there aren't a lot of seating options. You'd have to get lucky to find somewhere to sit since this is more of a grab and go spot instead of a drink and lounge. Solid matcha spot though!

Very hip new matcha place! Not really a cafe to get work done from, but I will say the matcha is veryyy good. The sea salt foam was the cherry on top, and it came out quick even though it was busy!

One of the better matchas I've had. This spot had a line out the door which lasted about 20 minutes on Saturday afternoon and I would say it's pretty worth. They have two kiosks for ordering which helps it move smoothly. You can tell the workers are serious about the job, they have a fast-moving assembly line. The matcha itself had the nice bitterness complemented by the strawberry flavor, and even more by the cream top. Seating is available in both the front and back.

Great Place for Good Quality Matcha I visited on a weekend, and it was incredibly busy with a long line, but it was definitely worth the wait. I loved the store's simple, minimalist design, and it was fun watching the staff whisk the matcha right in front of you. I ordered the Pure Matcha because I wanted to taste the matcha on its own and see how good the quality was. They also offer other drinks, like the Sea Salt Matcha and Double Cream Matcha, which my friends highly recommended. I have to agree that their matcha is higher quality than what you'll find at many other places that serve matcha drinks in America. The color was a beautiful vibrant green, and the aroma was rich and inviting. The matcha had a pleasant natural bitterness, without the overly grassy flavor that lower-quality matcha often has. It was also incredibly smooth, and you could tell the staff put a lot of care into whisking it properly.

I should have written the review sooner, but the strong matcha always put me into laziness. In other words, I'm the type of person that feels subdued after intake of caffeine. With that said, "Matcha A" lived up to its hype and they don't play around when it comes to the use of quality, premium matcha. I have tried their sea salt cream matcha and matcha latte. It's almost $10 for the salted cream matcha, yet it's worth the price as a splurge when I have a long day at work. One thing I would say is to mix the drink well before consuming it so that you can get a mix of milk/matcha/cream all in one sip! It's always a line when I get there on a weekday. Their hours are a bit strange: 4pm-8pm on weekdays and 8am-6pm on weekends. Yelp doesn't list the hours so I found the updated hours on their IG. Service is always efficient and they seem to have enough people preparing the drinks. I see at least 2 matcha whippers at the counter. Therefore, wait was never an issue. Though this is not a "working" cafe in my opinion, I found some outlets by their gynasium-style seating. This location is accessible via CTA 66 (Chicago) route. The nearest stop is Chicago and Wolcott.

Match|A opened at 4 PM this past Thursday, and we started lining up to order around 4:15 and received our drinks a bit more than 30 minutes after. Overall, this wait time is much better than I expected. The ordering process is pretty easy which can be done at one of the two kiosks available. MATCHA LATTE - 7.50 + whole milk, ice, less sweet The sweetener wasn't really mixed well in my latte, so the first few sips I took had no sweetness whatsoever. However, it was fantastic. The matcha was incredibly high quality -- it had a deep green color, the texture was smooth and velvety, and it tasted incredibly umami almost like drinking the sea. It was enjoyable without the sweetener, and I will order this drink without no sweetness moving forward. My friend got the strawberry matcha latte, which was more of a fun and fruity drink. Still delicious and refreshing, but we couldn't taste the earthiness of the matcha as clearly.

As someone who's pretty picky about matcha, I really enjoyed this spot. The matcha had a strong flavor and didn't taste watered down at all. It was smooth, not grainy or lumpy, and you could tell it was made well. I also loved the cream on top. It paired really well with the matcha without making the drink overly sweet, which I appreciated. The shop has a clean, minimalist design that makes it a nice place to hang out for a bit. My only downside is that it's a little on the expensive side, but the quality of the matcha made it worth trying. If you're a matcha fan, I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

Came right at opening time and it was already busy with a line. Slightly disappointed that they ran out their silver cups but the matcha was good! I don't think it's the best I've had but I can see why people rave about it.

I loved the minimalistic style of the space. They have artwork from a local artist on display that can be purchased. The kiosks are easy to figure out. The seating was also very interesting. I've been wanting to try this place and luckily came at a time when there was no wait! The owner and staff were super friendly and helpful! The drinks were so good! You can taste the matcha and as the foam/cream at the top melts into your drink, you start to taste it being incorporated into the drink as well. The only downside for me was that there's no larger size!

If we are just talking about matcha, then this place is probably the best in Chicago. They use around four grams of matcha, which is considered a double from other places that do two. It gives a more bitter flavor but gives that dark green look. They are known for their sea foam matcha as an FYI. Got the strawberry matcha which was a decent balance between the bitterness of the matcha and sweetness from the strawberries. Highly recommend. You order from a kiosk. There is room to sit inside though a bit cramped.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Worth the hype! The matcha honestly is the closest thing to Japan matcha I've tasted.  I am obsessed with their salted cream foam topper. The salted cream top adds a nice depth of  creaminess (I really like this one with half sweet because the matcha flavor is able to stand out on its own).  The strawberry one is also fantastic! The strawberry matcha is not too sweet - it actually has a great balance. The staff is always so friendly and the only reason service is a little slow is because they hand whisk everything fresh!

Was so excited to tey Match A after seeing on socials. Factory version of a coffee shop. There is no real customer service you order on a kiosk and they call your name when your order is ready. Super busy and packed but they move quickly to fulfill your order. I got the sea salt matcha and a strawberry matcha. The sea salt knocked it out of the park the strawberry was sub par. Definitely in my list of places with a good matcha. If Im ever in the area again I would stop by.

This place is such a hidden gem! It's beautifully decorated with a clean, simple aesthetic that creates a cozy atmosphere. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and efficient. Seating is limited, but it's perfect for a quick stop to grab a drink. I ordered the strawberry matcha, and I still crave it. It's the perfect sweet treat. I'll definitely be back!

I ordered 5 coffees one morning, and all the register guy did was write a few names on some cups and placed it down. I understand tipping culture is a divided topic of discussion, but at the end of the day, it is OPTIONAL. After pressing the skip button from what I believe to be non-tip worthy service, he threw a fit and said "Wow you're serious? After I did all that?" Meanwhile all he did was write names on cups. Now I would understand if he was the barista working hard to pump out the coffees, but two lovely ladies were in the back doing that. He shooed me and my friend out of line as we were still processing what he just said. The next customer orders and he had the audacity to talk about us to them while we're 5 feet away. Delusional as he was, he had the nerve to say we were holding up the line and made him do "all that work", and I could promise you, we knew exactly what we wanted to order the second we got up, and took no longer than 45 seconds. We also witnessed he got into it with another customer, so it seems like he's the problem here. Most wild service I have ever received, all for some milky coffees. I ended up tipping the lovely ladies in the back though. Be warned. There are much better spots.
