So I'm sorry if that's the way our society is headed, but when there's no line, even on the weekend, it's a poor business model to have a self service kiosk and employees just ignoring everyone while they make a handful of online orders. Went twice this weekend since we were nearby for a water polo tournament. Both times we walked in with no line, ordered our drinks and waited at least 5 minutes, for 2 drinks each time. Unacceptable. I haven't been here in years. So here's my thoughts after going back today. The workers were friendly though I didn't interact with them much. They have a kiosk for placing orders now which I like, but you can still order with a cashier. It's nice to have a place that serves boba drinks in San Clemente, close to home. And the prices are extremely reasonable compared to what you see when you go more north toward Irvine, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo. I liked my strawberry frappe but it was almost too sweet even at 50% sweetness... maybe they forgot to make it less sweet? I still enjoyed it though. It had a strawberry frozen yogurt taste which was delicious. The inside look has not changed much since I last went, it's a chill surf-like vibe you'd expect in San Clemente. Venturing down South County to find a boba shop to be regulars at. Unfortunately, it was nice to try but didn't hit. The shop shares the same space as Poke Tiki and the preparation space is pretty small. Upon entrance, you see Matcha first and can order at the counter. We ordered a Boba Milk Tea and a Mango Matcha Latte with mango jelly. Husband is very picky when it comes to the flavor profile of his milk tea. It has to be balanced with a black tea base and not overpowered by milk/creamer or have a chocolate/bitter coffee aftertaste. His milk tea tasted like chocolate milk with a very odd, lingering taste of something herbal. The boba texture was really soft and chewy, but the tea was meh. I figured with a shop named Matcha, their matcha should be good, right? Although the green tea flavor wasn't super strong, it was more latte-y (milky) than matcha forward. My husband and I wanted to stay local, so we searched "milk tea boba" on Yelp and this spot popped up. It's located in the same plaza as Baja Fresh, Board & Brew, and other neighboring businesses that my husband and I frequent. Decided to give it a try today. When we walked in, we were surprised to see they shared the same space as Poke Tiki. A nice gentleman came out from the swinging door and took our order as soon as we walked in (yesss!). They had a decent selection of beverages on their menu. Order up: 1. Milk tea (husband's) 2. Taro Milk Tea (mine) I've had taro milk tea at other places before and it was usually hit or miss (sometimes feels "powdery"). However, theirs did not disappoint. However, my husband and I both agreed that their Milk Tea could have tasted much better if they had steeped whatever tea they used a bit longer. All in all, both the drinks were relatively good. We were craving milk tea so stopped by this place. It's with poke tiki. I love matcha so i got the matcha latte but they were debuting the rose milk tea which my mom got. She really enjoyed it and could taste the rose flavor. I liked my matcha it wasnt too sweet. I wish there were more topping options because my mom likes pudding and i like salt cream foam or creme brulee or some sort of creamy topper. I love supporting local businesses, but its hard to support one that has limited interacting with customers for profit. You walk in and place an order with a machine. And if you're a boba fan, you know you can't have just the options of just full or 50% sweet. My rose tea was tasty but still way too sweet at 50%. If you put a human behind the register and allow for less sweet (and more healthy) option, it would make a world of difference and would definitely get more business and stars :) read more

Located in a shopping center so plenty of parking and easy to find. I love fruit teas so I tried the Summer Passion and Strawberry Hibiscus both with light ice. They are flavored perfectly, not too sweet or watered down. Very refreshing especially for a super hot day. $5 isn't bad and they only have 1 size. S: Tier boba: Boba Guys A: Redstraw, Ding Tea, Orobae, Omomo B: Gong Cha, The Alley I'm not sure where to place Matcha but probably around the D tier. I would never come back considering there are so many better offerings (or just don't get boba at all and save $$.) I asked for a no sugar, no ice matcha latte. High quality matcha is smooth and has almost a slight sweetness. This matcha latte was extremely bitter and sharp in taste indicating a low quality matcha being used. At the time I placed my order, there were only 2 drinks ahead of me. I had a bad experience here today. I ordered two Taiyaki ice creams to go. Whenever I have ordered this in the past they will give me the ice cream in a cope and the cone on the side so me and my friend can scoop the ice cream with our cone. This time, the girl behind the counter just gave me the ice cream in the cone. I was in the San Clemente area and found Matcha Tea and Cream via the interwebs. My cousin and I were looking for a dessert spot. I was surprised that there was a boba tea shop in San Clemente not to mention they were serving Taiyaki = Japanese fish-shaped cake soft serve as well! It was unexpected but exciting so we wanted to try it out! Matcha Tea and Cream is located east of the 5 in the same plaza as Walmart. Plenty of parking! Upon entry of Matcha I realized that they share the same space as Poke Tiki which was probably why I could smell both the savory and sweet aromas floating around. Matcha Tea and Cream had a very simple menu which included your standard milk teas green, jasmine, Thai tea and a selection of frappes with the addition of boba. For the Taiyaki, you choose your filling (custard, plain, Nutella), swirl (milk, matcha, swirl) and your toppings (Oreo, matcha powder etc). I ordered an avocado frappe with boba and shared some of the Taiyaki. The frappe was good and thick but a little bit sweet. I personally think that the boba could have been a little bit more al dente. It was really soft and chewy. On to the Taiyaki, I could taste the matcha in the soft serve but the soft serve consistency was kind of off...it was icy rather than creamy and melted so fast! All in all it was an ok experience. Probably the only thing close by here with boba, Loki up is too far for me to be driving at this time but this little store will do. I got the matcha latte with boba. It's pretty damn good. Boba are soft and chewy, plus it doesn't get hard as some places do it. Which means they know how to cook their bobas. Definitely coming back. I have never waited for a boba drink so long. Been here in the afternoon on a weekday so it was not a busy time for this place. Yet, it took a long time to get too simple drinks out to us. They seemed to be staffed appropriately so we were confused as to why it was slow service. Our drinks were both matcha lattes so it was not as if fruits had to be cut and blended. They use matcha powder so the drink is namely matcha, milk, and ice blended. Happy we skipped the boba because that would have probably added another 15 minutes! So, it's the holiday season...and that means we are in Cali. If you know me, I'm always on the hunt for foodie spots. As I'm searching through Yelp for "foodie desserts" (yep, seriously!) around the area where I'm staying, up popped Matcha Tea & Cream. I saw a few cute taiyaki ice cream pics and a pretty good rating, so it didn't take much to coerce my ice cream-loving hubby to go along with me. I wanted this visit to be epic....it had all the promise, but I was a bit let down. Granted the atmosphere was very IG-esque...with cute decor, signage, and plants on the tables. I can't tell you how badly I wanted my taiyaki ice cream to blow my mind. Nope, didn't happen. The soft serve was yummy, but very melty and, most certainly, wasn't served up like their posted photo in the store. (Don't you hate when that happens??) I also realized you don't really get too much soft serve with your taiyaki which was a bummer since it was pretty good. Probably the next time, we would just suggest you get the soft serve in a cup. What I really didn't like was the actual taiyaki itself. I don't quite understand what I was supposed to be eating. In my previous experiences with japanese-style cakes, they are much like a pancake. This particular taiyaki was like a 3-day old waffle and tasted pretty stale and awful. Overall, my excitement was dashed - but did it look decent on my IG? Sure. No one else had to know, right? I hope the taiyaki ice cream experience improves since it's not a thing around the San Clemente area. Also, if you were not aware, Matcha Tea & Cream shares their space with Poketiki which, as you know I'm from the poke motherland, and locals from Hawaii are very skeptical about poke bowls with fruit and vegetables. Matcha Tea and Cream is a little desert bar that serves a variety of boba drinks and matcha soft-serve ice cream. While there are a lot of places like this further north in Orange County, it's hard to find these kinds of desserts in San Clemente. The boba is very good, but I recommend you try the matcha soft serve. It has a strong green tea flavor while still being very creamy and not overly sweet. It's served in a delicious (fish shaped) waffle cone that's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They will line it with either Nutella or custard as well. Matcha Tea and Cream is delicious and I highly recommend it for dessert. It's worth noting that this location shares a location with Poke Tiki, which is a great place to get a poké bowl before you get your dessert here. read more

i am a local in the san clemente area and i go to this place all the time! its a perfect after school drink spot and so many awesome restaurants with awesome people around it. the people are very friendly and nice! tip: you can ask for a punch card and the more drinks you buy, the more stamps you get and if you collect 10 you get a free drink! they also take apple pay which is super helpful for when you are in a rush or dont want to take forever getting out your wallet. i dont have a favorite because i literally love everything at this place. definitely recommend this place! read more
