Still a gem of a restaurant. This time we dined outside; different vibe and still great service. Our waiter Michael was informed and knowledgeable. He told us that they were out of slider buns, but they could still serve sliders in a lettuce wrap. This worked perfectly for my sister who doesn't eat carbs. I had the apple/pear salad and it was good. But not great. I was sad to see that my favorite, the wedge salad, is no longer on the menu. Plenty of other good choices so I know I'll keep visiting Matchbox. read more

Welcome to South Florida, Matchbox! When something new opens "out west", we get a little excited! Out here, choices are limited... so it's always an exciting venture to check out the new guy in town. The first time we ate here was Easter Sunday. We were greeted immediately, in fact, an employee opened the front door for is (so I do mean immediately!). We were sat at a booth, and our server was sweet and attentive. We started with an order of tuna tacos- you can do 3 or 6 for $11/$18... but do yourself a favor and just get the full order of 6! These are small, but the tuna is good quality, the shells are crunchy and delicate, and the sauce is the perfect mix of spicy creamy mayo. We also tried the fried chicken cobb salad and the bistro burger. Both items were delicious! The burger was perfectly cooked and the delicious fries were plentiful! We also had a couple cocktails, my husband enjoyed his Southern Charmer with Bourbon and peach syrup. I enjoyed the Patio cooler, which is muddled watermelon with vodka. I usually don't really love watermelon, but I definitely love this cocktail! Yesterday one of my best girl friends and I decided to go for lunch, cocktails, and some Sawgrass shopping. We started with the 6 tuna tacos. We both devoured these right up! She had the steak salad, which wasn't impressive for $22- and they forgot to add the hash brown croutons it came with. These were brought out after we finished the salad. We also ordered a buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Totally a knock-off of the ever popular Chick-fil-a sandwich, but totally delicious! You can do it as is, or Nashville hot. I opted for the Nashville hot on the side. It was so good I asked for more Nashville! Hot, spicy, and full of flavor! I again ordered my new favorite watermelon cocktail, and it did not disappoint! Servers are nice, and the front of the house staff (hostesses/greeters/people up front) are professional and pleasant. I had asked if they knew the location of Sawgrass' new TJ Maxx- the lady brought us a map and drew and explained the easiest walk to our destination. Unbelievably helpful and nice! Note: Happy Hour is discounted cocktails and apps, and is available at the bar 4-7! Can't wait to come back for HH... Matchbox is a DC chain restaurant, and having lived in DC for 3 years, I was very excited to see one open here. My husband and I came on a Saturday night around 7:30pm. There was no wait, and we were seated right away. Many tables were full, but the place is pretty large. Very cool decor and atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating with a neat open to the outside concept. Onto the drinks and food. My husband got a draft beer and I got the Watermelon Patio Lemonade. Both were delicious. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken Cobb salad. It was excellent. The fried chicken was so moist with a great crispy outside. Big portion too. I got the Bistro Burger. It was fantastic. Good size burger and a large side of fries. The comeback sauce was pretty interesting too. Before we got our food, the manager Kevin came by to check how we were doing an apologize for the food taking a while. He offered to buy our next round of drinks to make up for it. The customer service here is on another level. On my way out, I stopped to tell another manager Brittany how our meal was and to say our server Ariana was great. Brittany was super friendly and chatted with me about DC as the managers actually transferred from DC Matchbox locations to start up this one. Below you will find reasons why. 1. Outdoor fans that can't be adjusted for the customers. We where informed by the server they couldn't raise the speed. 2. Dirty utensils. Really an piece of green dried up Leave. Is the dish washer / crew cleaning it???? 3. Long wait for the food and some of the meals are not hot! We waited about 30/ 35minutes. Everyone was just finishing there meal when finally after requesting twice for my meal it came out (approx. 40min) After thinking about what we experienced I went inside a spoke to the manager. To sum it up. The manager (didn't get her name) understood and the bill was taken care of by the manager. I asked to speak to the server and I tipped her. I explain to her that it's not your fault it's the establishment you are working so they should be able to I help you execute your job efficiently. This is not how a Sunday family meal should be. New place that just opened around the corner from our house. Nice open style kitchen and indoor/outdoor seating. I went for my birthday with the family and we all had a wonderful time. Our server was very attentive and kind. She went through the menu and gave us her recommendations, which we actually went with her favorite pizza.. The sweet and spicy sausage! For an appetizer we had the crab and guac dip which was soooo good. The bread that comes with the dip was super light and fluffy but still crispy. I do also recommend the meatball, the sauce was really good and had a little spice too it. Overall really good experience and we will be coming back to try different things. Only one complain. We called to make reservations and we were told that you don't put together tables before 10. She also explained how there was only one table and its a first come first serve in the bar. Finally made it back here after attending the Yelp Elite event, and absolutely loving the vibe and food! My boyfriend, his mom, and I came here before a show over at the BB&T center. I had made reservations, so we sat as soon as we arrived. It was a Friday night, and this place was SLAMMED. Our waiter informed us that the kitchen and bar were super backed up, but he would do his best to get everything fast. They have a great happy hour menu, from 3-7pm Mon-Fri, with $7.50 cocktails and $10.50 small pizzas. We ordered right away, but as the waiter mentioned our drinks took forever! Myself and my boyfriend's mom ordered the rose sangria, and it ended up being amazing! The flavor was so tasty that I would have definitely ordered another if we had time. I went with the happy hour margarita pizza, and it was the perfect size! It was also cooked to perfection and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the pan seared salmon, and his mom loved her shrimp and grits. Overall, we were all satisfied with our meals!! Ain't no Hour like a Happy Hour... Hour... lol Luckily we decided to go to Matchbox before entering the mall, we went around 6pm on a Friday night and were greeted and taken to a seat by the hostess immediately. Even though the restaurant looked pretty full, it seemed that we made it the perfect time, because Happy Hour was running from 3pm - 7pm (Mon - Fri) which means that we had a hour left! My wife decided to order the Crispy Chicken Wings (Buffalo) and the Crispy Calamari which comes with a Jalapeño Jelly which is awesome. Both of these appetizers were great and I would definitely order them again. I normally stay away from ordering Buffalo Wings, because they are just routine to me now, but these were really good. In addition, the Jalapeño Jelly for the Calamari added something different and unique to the dish, I wanted to use it on everything. Note - Both of these apps or on the Happy Hour Menu. If you read my reviews, you will know that my drink of choice is the Old Fashioned, it wasn't on the Happy Hour Menu, but I figured I would give it a try. It was okay, but I probably wouldn't order it again here, as a result my next drink was the Matchbox Mojito which I enjoyed and it was also on the Happy Hour Menu. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and the food came out quick, drinks did take a little while for some reason. And the sauce container for the wings was empty (note - it was dropped off to our table by our waiter). As a result, we asked the waiter if he could bring us some ranch dressing. For the main we got the large Prosciutto + Fig Pizza (without the Blue Cheese) which was not on the Happy Hour Menu. My wife doesn't like Blue Cheese, so we got it without. We weren't really a fan of this pizza, however I think that may have been because we didn't get the blue cheese on it, which made the pizza feel a little lackluster. In addition, we ordered the Kids Chicken Tenders for my daughter, in which she enjoyed. When we were leaving we saw a lot of people waiting to be sat, as the restaurant logically got busier as the night went on. It may be a good idea to see if you can make a reservation if coming at a peak time. All in all, it was a good meal with a fun atmosphere and I would definitely be back to try some more items. read more

Pros: Cool space. Lots of seating so no wait at dinner time on a Saturday. Friendly hostess. My pizza was good (double pepperoni) and I also got the corn bread side which was a huge side and very good. Cons: It is hard to hear in here. The server couldn't hear us and we couldn't hear each other. He also only came by to refill out waters once while we waited for our food but never came back during us all eating our food which is the prime time to refill waters. I was not offered Parmesan cheese for my pizza... why tho? There was five of us in my party when we came. Two of use ordered pizzas and they came out literally 15-20 minutes before others food came out. After, two more dishes came out and then we wait another 5 min for the last to come out. We are polite so we wait to eat until everyone gets their food so I sat for 25 minutes with my pizza in front of me. There was no acknowledgement how untimely our food came out. To top it off, the server was rude about use asking to separate our check. I know it's an annoyance (trust me, i knows, I was a server once) but we were a bigger party that would've tipped him even though the experience was lacking. Drinks were actually good, but man was that service awful. There were two bartenders, male and female. The female looked like she had zero desire to be working there tonight. I went with a friend for happy hour on a Friday night and this place was jam packed! We loved the food so much we came back for brunch the next day! The food and service were spectacular and the place was sooooo busy. All the food we had was delicious! Spinach dip with pita was one of the best I've ever had! It had the right amount of garlic, and a perfect texture. So tasty with the pita bread! The meat lovers pizza was the winner of the show. I think the pepperoni is delivered from heaven. It was that good. The mini burgers with onion strings on top were seasoned perfectly and we wish we got more! The chorizo burger had a great taste but was a bit on the dry side, I wouldn't get it again. Definitely a happening place for happy hour and the parking situation wasn't terrible either day. So, the manager sends me an email back in February after having a poor experience at matchbox. She says she's like to invite me back and will send a gift card. The gift card FINALLY arrived on April 10th. My husband and I decide to go and have dinner. We order the giant meatball, which was really good. We also order a pizza with sausage, mushrooms, and onions to share. It was ok. It had very sparse toppings. I did like the thin, crispy crust. So, then the bill came. It was $43.00. I handed the gift card to the waitress. It was a $50 card. The waitress came back and said that they wouldn't be able to take the card because it had $0 ZERO DOLLARS on it. I was so embarrassed!! I said that couldn't be right. I had just received the card that day. I showed her the message from the manager. The bottomless mimosas are GREAT! The food was decent, but they forgot my meal. I sat for 1hr45 min and never received my French toast. My friends both received their steak and eggs and we all received our appetizers. There was wayyy more eggs and potatoes than steak in their skillets. The dynamite shrimp as breaded heavily and a little salty. The tuna tacos were really small -like a bite and a half, and the presentation wasn't very nice but they were pretty tasty!! This was my second time dining at Matchbox. We were seated immediately and placed in a cozy corner in the back, away from the hustle and bustle since they knew we had a little one. They have happy hour M-F (3p-7p). We made it just in time with an hour to spare. From the HH menu we got the calamari, buffalo wings and I got the rose sangria, and my husband got the old fashion off the regular menu. It seemed like the bar was backed up because the food came out before our drinks. The apps were great, buffalo wings were nice and spicy while the calamari was perfectly cooked with the jalapeño jelly as a perfect compliment. We ordered the fig prosciutto pizza as our main. I was super excited for it as I love this flavor combination, but it was pretty lack luster. There was a lack of flavor and I left disappointed. Wish I didn't get the large portion. My husband got one more drink from the HH menu this time, the Mojito which was tasty. Service was great and everyone was super nice. This experience won't prevent me from returning. Unfortunately my kids love the pizza at this place but everything else is way over priced for what you get. They change the Nashville chicken sandwich from chicken breast to chicken thigh but kept the same price. Very fatty and is not as good. They also are constantly taking things off the menu or changing the food on the menu. One time you order something you have no idea if the next time you order it if it will be the same. Only things I recommend is pizza & the spinach artichoke dip WITH PITA BREAD they also changed this to chips without telling you and the chips taste stale. Initially we were greeted by Marie and she was very welcoming and we got seated immediately. We went on a Saturday at around 3:00 pm perfect for a calm lunch. Our waiter was Daniel and he was very accommodating. He offered suggestions on an appetizer and we immediately went for the crispy calamari with the jalapeño jelly. Now, yes I said it, jalapeño jelly. It was AMAZINGGG and so versatile. I would definitely eat it on breakfast biscuit or toast, which Daniel actually informed us that he does very frequently so it's tried and trusted. The calamari had very good crunch with many pieces, not just a copious amount of rings. I took another Daniel suggestion on my entree and ordered the Fire + Smoke pizza, it's a plant based option so I was sold. It's labeled as "very spicy" but if you're a true connoisseur of the spices it's a little on the mild side BUT a good choice nonetheless. My fiancé ordered the bacon cheeseburger and that picky eater was very satisfied. We bother ordered a drink. Him, some beer and Larry the bartender made me a bourbon crisp. Located on the rich people side of the mall in the colonnade is Matchbox. A restaurant that keeps you lit and warm during anytime of year but especially during the holiday season. Inside it's festively decorated from the upstairs and down. They also have outdoor seating with the nice view of all the other fancy stores. We came here during happy hour (Monday - Friday, 3-7pm) and we were treated like King's and Queen's from the moment we walked in. Every staff member worked as a team to set us up before we were ready to order. We just ordered appetizers to share. My favorite appetizer would be the 6 sliders with the onion strings on top! For sliders those things are juicy! All the other appetizers aren't too bad. They came out hot and ready to eat. Service was amazing!
