Outdoor porch seating

Super cute converted home on 6th street in Phoenix. Seating on the big porch as well as seating in the back yard with misters going in the AZ heat. Inside a handful of tables and a nice tall bar. My daughter and I went in for coffee and it was very good. Service was fun. Everyone was so nice. I believe they close at 3 and reopen for dinner at 4. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, great coffee selections, pastries too. Genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere.

This place is so charming. As you walk in you are greeted with a warm and sincere hello. The menu items all sound delicious. They sound familiar and comforting but all are interesting and a little unexpected too. I went with a matcha which was delicious and the soft scrambled eggs that were cooked to perfection. I can't wait to come back on a cooler morning to take advantage of their patio.

Definitely a whole vibe! Pretty sure I dressed completely wrong for the front lawn - picnic baskets and tables and blankets splayed out like a novelist's dream, including the French style water carafes. I'll know for next time. We ordered at the front and I immediately realized I'd been here before - when it was the uber popular Garden Bar - also impossible to get a table for. Lucked out and got a table inside but had just missed the cut off for breakfast food (11am) so we got the only item left served all day for breakfast and a lunch item (turkey club) on a whim. I had been really excited to try the matcha beverages but was sorely disappointed when I got the Matcha Rose and it tasted like it was flavored with pickle juice of some sort. Definitely had me confused and I had to ask the waiter to shed some light. Ended up swapping it out for the Copa de Oro instead which was not my usual choice since I'm not a fan of orange but wanted an espresso bevy with a kick to match my sammy . I was much more impressed with this on but took the orange peel out. The foam at the top is still heavily orange flavored but I didn't mind this flavor much. It was smooth and presentation is very nice. To be expected, the inside was hard to find a table but we snagged one and had a hard time hearing each other so the community table out back seemed promising with the misters. The only problem were the flies. We were attacked by at least 2-3 at a time and there was a total of around 5-6 just around us. It was probably because we were the only ones left with food outside, but nevertheless very annoying - so please invest in table fans! After we ate, I waited for a box but that definitely took way too long so I just asked a different waitress and then we re-located to alongside the wall right under the misters. It was much better when I boxed the food. Relaxing atmosphere to enjoy a drink in an afternoon gardenscape people watching. :) Will dress in my picnic dress next time!

Now if you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of a quiet neighborhood vibe...this is the spot!!!! So as you arrive. After finding street parking. You might miss it if you're not paying attention. It's snugged right into this lovely house. Indoor and outdoor seating. Tip top service and delicious food. A great assortment of drinks to choice from... A must try spot for anyone craving a bite and a drink in a, not in your everyday restaurant.... Thank you Matilda's. I will definitely be back!!!

I stopped by Matilda's for breakfast and really enjoyed the vibe. The atmosphere is fantastidefinitely the kind of place where you want to linger over a cup of coffee. The food itself was delicious. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and the potatoes, and both were hits. The sandwich was perfectly assembled with fresh ingredients, and the potatoes were seasoned well and had that ideal crispiness. My only slight hesitation is the cost. It felt a little pricy for a standard breakfast, even considering the high quality. That said, if you're looking for a great environment and a solid meal, it's worth a visit! The service was very respectful!

Everyone here was so nice, I got lots of recommendations from the workers, and I think Matilda actually brought out my food herself. I didn't think to get the hot sauce until it was recommended to me after we already paid, and they were accommodating enough to give it to us on the house. There was plenty of seating even though the line took about 20 minutes to get through, we didn't have any issues with the first seat. They even have picnic settings outside so you can eat and enjoy the weather while it's still good. Our drinks were decent, and I would say relatively well priced. The sandwich comes with either avocado or bacon, and we chose bacon. I wish it came with greens or maybe a tomato, and maybe that the bacon was crispier. But the flavor was perfect, the only they put inside really brings it all together. The roasted potatoes were perfectly soft and crispy, with the hot sauce and aïoli 10/10!! Check them out!

Pro-tip: Expect a long line and tight parking. The potatoes are good to share between two people. Highlights: It's a great place to meet up with girlfriends because of the cute aesthetics and simple menu. I personally love their collaboration with The Dinesaur bakery. I thought the breakfast sammy was delicious, especially in flavor and the texture of the bun. The service is great and I love that you can just bring a pitcher of water back to your table. Lowlights: I came with my husband who's a big meat eater and value eater so it wasn't a great place for him. There's definitely a lack of protein on the breakfast menu. It's a very carb heavy breakfast even for me. I didn't really enjoy the sweet toast as I thought the ricotta was too thick and the brioche a bit boring the pistachio rose drink was a bit artificial in flavor and too sweet as well.

Converted home in the Roosevelt District, cute place but limited seating available inside. Ordered the Breakfast Sammy and pistachio rose matcha. Sammy was basic with just egg cheese and bacon. Matcha was overpowering with the dried rose mixed in drink.

Super busy but we had a great experience! On Wednesday we popped in for some coffee and breakfast. Lots of street parking which is nice. Walked up and grabbed a menu and decided what to order. Originally wanted the Savory toast but heard they had sold out (@ 10am). No worries, I opted for the Breakfast sammy with avocado instead of bacon. Ordered their cinnamon, honey, vanilla latte which was delicious! Got our number and walked around trying to find a table. Can get very packed with limited seating so be aware! Once we sat down, I got up to grab 2 glasses + a water jug that they have on a mini table for guests to grab. Before we knew it, someone brought us our coffee and food. The breakfast sammy tasted so flavorful! The calabrian chilis, I believe, really upgraded this sandwich. Tasted fresh, packed with flavor, would definitely order again. Breakfast is only served til 11am fyi, then it goes to the lunch menu. It did get very noisy inside where the seating was. At one point, my friend and I were practically yelling at eachother. There is minimal seating outside + you have the option to sit outside in the front yard if you bring your own blanket. Overall, a great idea and experience!

Went here with a friend on a Friday around 10. There was a consistent flow of customers but not too busy when we arrived. By the time we left, it was packed. I got the breakfast sammy, peanut butter shaker, and Neapolitan matcha. My friend got the breakfast sammy on a gluten free bun, orange blossom latte, and an iced matcha. Everything was yummy. The texture of the breakfast sandwich and the combo of flavors was perfect. We sat outside, which was nice. It got hot after a while though so we went inside which was a little loud and crowded. On the way out, we saw some mats on the lawn for people to sit, which was cool. Overall, this is such a cute spot with quality food and drinks.

Coffee & Tea menu (3/5/26)

Finally made it! I've been visiting First Place Coffee for years and was so excited for this new vision! The renovated house has ample indoor and outdoor seating and a warm, welcoming vibe. With Matilda's, owner Devon McConville has been able to expand the food menu as well as add a spirits menu to the beloved Coffee & Tea offerings of First Place Coffee. I visited today with my daughter and we shared the Breakfast Sammy, Cafe Salad, iced Brown Butter Matcha and iced Tahini Fig latte. Truly, everything was EXCEPTIONAL. The Sammy had multiple layers of flavors and was filling, even when shared between 2 people. The salad was fresh, crunchy, and perfect for a spring day. The beverages have always been favorites as well, so we knew what to expect there! Of note: Matilda's continues to collaborate with The Dinersaur in its baked good offerings, which is always a bonus! Staff was well-versed in all menu items and generally shared the same level of enthusiasm for working at Matilda's as the clientele seemed to have for being there! Lots of babies on blankets in the front yard today, and I know there are many puppy friends that visit throughout the day as well! Come by if you need a little pick-me-up (in the form of caffeine or happy, positive energy)!

This place is everything you hope a coffee shop to be! Such a great vibe, friendly staff, great coffee and yummy food. I loved everything about this place! I brought a book and a blanket to sit outside and it was the perfect way to spend the morning. I love trying coffee that's different in flavors and they had so many on the menu that sounded amazing. I settled for the savory toast and sage caramel espresso... both were perfection! I'll definitely be back to try another coffee flavor soon! (My only complaint is that I wish they were open sooner so we could've enjoyed sitting on the lawn longer ) definitely check them out!!!

Stopped here on vacation to get some work done in the morning for a couple hours. All the staff were super nice and personable and even met on of the co-owners who seemed to talk to everyone there! I had a Chai Latte that was probably one of the best Chai's I've ever had. Did not get any food but from the looks of everyone else's, the food looked amazing. Great vibes inside with a great bar. A lot of seating both inside and great outdoor area. Saw a lot of girlies taking insta pics so if you're looking for a good spot for cute coffee pics this is definitely the place!

Apparently the shop sources coffees and teas from local businesses. For example, coffees = Infusion Coffee Roasters in Tempe, loose leaf teas and chai = Maya Tea Company in Tucson, kombucha = Milly Moon Kombucha in Phoenix, and breakfast burritos = Lua Lua Catering. [Parking]: Mostly metered parking and I ended up parking few blocks away from the shop (plenty of metered parking spots near the intersection of E McKinley St & N 5th St). [Atmosphere]: Inside of this historic house, the wall features the work of local artists. The shop also has a cute outdoor patio area with tables. [Menu]: Apparently Matcha Latte is one of the more popular drinks here. The shop offers 12 black tea options, 9 green tea options, 8 herbal tea options, 4 white tea options, and 3 oolong tea options. *** Matcha Latte (16 oz, iced - $6.25): I was surprised that my drink was sugar free by default and I probably say yes when the staff had asked about adding sweetener. The drink was not as creamy as I thought and it was honestly a fairly mediocre drink. The drink also came with a paper straw. *** A great spot for a casual 1st date due to great vibe, but matcha latte just didn't hit the spot.

The service itself is one of a kind and makes me feel like I'm at a 5-star restaurant. They bring your items out on a beautiful tray and will always serve your drink with a cup of water on the side if you order it for here. They will even package your food up for you, which I would never expect from a coffee shop. It can be busy at times with a bit of a wait because the drinks are all made one at a time, but it's always worth the wait. The place isn't very big but has plenty of seating given the space. For working from home, they do have wifi but limited outlets. Their pastries served from a local bakery are also delicious.

Just what I needed for energy for this place and to get me through it (though by the end I was still starving shouldn't have resisted the tacos ^^).

The vibe is really nice and chill outside and as you walk in. It is very clean. I love that there was so many different people they're studying and reading and you can tell that there was some groups that were meeting up there for like a book club, and just to have a drink! so it's really nice to know that you can have a little community inside of this nice clean coffee spot! So as I said, I got the mango black tea and it was very strong. I didn't even drink the whole thing you couldn't tell that it was mango. I give it a four star because of the cleanliness and the workers are sweet and I love the environment, but the product itself I was not impressed with.

I tried the rose green tea arnold palmer. It was ok, just wish it was a tab bit sweeter. It was not sweet at all and I am generally not a sweet person but this would have been alot better with a little more hint of sweetness. None the less it was refreshing and the spot was a nice chill vibe.
