I've moved twice before and the moving companies I've used in the past were average at best. For my recent move at the beginning of this month, I decided to be more diligent and sent more service requests out and really took the time to pick the right company. Matrix stood out amongst the others initially for their fair pricing and the fact they didn't charge double drive time like so many other moving companies. I am happy to report that I chose Matrix Moving for my recent move and Vlad and his team exceeded all expectations and I am very happy with my experience. From the weeks leading up to the move date until the final papers were signed at the end of the job, Vlad was extremely helpful and responsive to all my questions and even took the time to do a walkthrough of my previous place to ensure there were no surprises on moving day (not something any other company I used in the past did). The crew of three that did the job was fast and efficient and didn't waste any time. Very considerate and aware they were on the customer's dime. Things that had me a little apprehensive leading up to the move (we had to contend with trash day and some home theater equipment) the team handle with ease and care. The movers did an excellent job placing my furniture in the storage unit. They were very intentional about how everything was arranged, maximizing the space while keeping my items safe and secure. Heavier pieces were placed strategically, fragile items were protected, and they made sure there was still a small pathway so I could access things if needed. He and Max came in and got the job done quickly and efficiently without damaging any of my furniture (including my very heavy wood cabinet that is always a struggle to transport) and they were kind during the whole process. Picking movers is always a gamble, so I was very happy when Vlad and his team of movers did such a fantastic job. Before the move, Vlad was promptly responsive, answered all of my questions, and worked with me to plan out what would work best for my unusual move. I used Yelp's "project" feature and he had the best first message, which I took as a sign for the kind of effort the company would put into my move. Moved from a 3 bedroom to 4 bedroom house Valid and his crew are excellent they are professional and hard working. He also does not charge DRIVE TIME! We had a 12 hour job and his prices are fantastic. I would hire him again and again they really know what they are doing. Get your quote and estimated time in writing for what you're planning to move. We were very specific about what we wanted moved and they moved far more than we asked. What we asked for should have taken 4-5 hours max. It took over 10, multiple times my husband had to start taking things out of the truck because 2 of the 3 guys were on their phones sitting in bed frames that needed to be assembled (part of their "service"), at the end of the excessive amount of time, we were told that we "were quoted a summer rate, which was lower than the current winter rate", we were not told this in our many conversations, nor is it normal anywhere (we've moved countless times) for summer to be LOWER than winter? Summer is always more expensive. We moved in November. Also - this is San Diego, there might be a 10° difference with very little variation in the market between "summer" and "winter". Super disappointing experience, definitely would not recommend unless you enjoy overspending and ridiculous amounts of extra time / paying for people to sit around and your husband to do the unpacking. read more

Inquired via Yelp to seek a quick move from apt to storage unit. Vlad, the owner, was very responsive and worked with my needs since I didn't have the normal clutter of a 2bd apt. He arrived promptly with one associate, did a consult run through of all items, and strategically fit all of my items in one trip. His team carefully wrapped and loaded the expensive, heavy items nicely. They wore clean shoes and I provided cold drinks. They even fit all of my random stuff into a 10x17 as if it was easy! I requested quotes from dozens of movers and all were quick to respond. It was like being pelted with snowballs one after another after another. However, the one thing that stood out about Matrix is that there was no 3 hour minimum (we still went 4+ hours but I liked not having a minimum). Sam and Igor moved our stuff and hustled the whole time. They were very respectable and even helped set up my mom's bed. Be aware there is a thing called "double drive" which apparently all CA mock f companies charge although I didn't realize it at the time since it wasn't in any of the Yelp quotes I received. I moved three storage rooms one 10x10 and two 10x20 storage rooms from one storage company to another one about 2 miles away. I had gotten rid of my furniture prior to the move so this was a move of many boxes including the large plastic boxes you can buy from Costco that I had accumulated over many years of moving. What I am trying to say is that this was not an easy move of large pieces of furniture. My new storage company gave me some cards from other movers who I called to get estimates about the move. I also looked a Yelp reviews to do some research on different companies. Matrix stood out with all of the 5 star reviews and I called Vlad the owner who offered to come out to give me an estimate. This was the only company that came out to look at what the move would involve. I met Vlad and he gave me a quote for how long it would take and his price was the same as some other movers and lower than the quote from a couple of movers. I was impressed by Vlad and his ideas on how the move would be done and hired his company to do the move. The three man team that came out to do the move were the best team that you could ask to do your move. I was with them all day and was impressed with the professional way that they moved everything. This team worked really hard to get the job done and worked as a team so that no member of the team was sitting around waiting for something to do. Each member of the team worked with 100% effort to get the move completed. Even with all of the effort, the move because of all of the small boxes to move was taking longer than expected. I had no problem with this because I saw how hard this team worked and think that other movers would have taken much longer to move everything that I had to move.
