Shipped a Toyota Prius from Kauai (Nawiliwili Port) to Long Beach CA. If you do not mind managing the details and logistics of pick up and drop off, shipping directly with Matson is more cost effective than a third party. Make sure you read everything on the website (especially port hours of operation) and how to prep your car for drop off. Keep your booking number accessible. PROS: -Cost effective compared to a third party -Vehicle tracking -Seamless pick up and good staff. -Able to email documentation and changes to pick up person/responsibility. CONS: -Have to pay for a reservation/booking number before starting any logistics with Matson. -The estimated delivery time is an "estimate."The car arrived 3 days early, which threw off my logistics a bit because I had to fly-in from out of state to pick it up. -I used a Lyft to get to Port C. Driver wasn't sure where to go once the GPS hit the address pin. Use the pin on Yelp to see where port C is actually located. Overall, I was happy with the experience. No damage to my car. I'd definitely use Matson again for vehicle shipping to & from Hawaii to the Mainland US.

How long does drop off time usually take from arriving at the pier to completely done?

I was there probably a total of 20 minutes. About 5-10 minutes waiting to be called, less than 5 minutes in the office. Drove it around the building and parked it, 2-3 minutes and then like 1-2 minutes in the last office.

I worked out all the logistics of where I would get my car washed, what time I would get to Pier C, and arrange for a ride home.

Boxes and moved the services to the main line to the right. Pens for packages usually have to be asked for here since they're a hot commodity. Recently, my building had a mailbox key access issue and the post office took a month to repair/replace it. This caused residents to have to come in for mail pick-up, which got a bit messy. At one point, my blind mother went in to pick up her mail and someone released the entire building's mail to her. Thankfully she asked my SO for help sorting it which sent flags up to him to immediately return everything that wasn't hers. He explained the situation and the post office has seemingly taken things more seriously. The clerks? (not sure of the proper verbiage here) seem overworked and exhausted. I wish people were nicer to them despite their frustrations. It's better to stop in instead of calling for things, or set up a USPS account online where you can manage some things.

Dinner at APL Restaurant did not disappoint! As soon as I entered I was greeted by the rocking…read moresounds of Van Halen (David Lee Roth not Sammie) followed by the Rock soundtrack of my mid-late teens. The decor was absolutely stunning with a clear attention to detail: the classic molding that creates a separation from the industrial feel of the ceiling to the French Bistro style of the bar and dining room areas. The large antiqued mirrors reflects the subtle lighting emminating from the beautiful votives at each table and scattered around the dining room. The vintage scale with a succulent pot and antique wine opener as decor along the separating wall were simple touches that add to the French feel. And my favorite: the hand-written recipes of APL turned into wallpaper in the restrooms...I got caught up trying to read them all!!! The food was incredible- each bite brought me back to memories of long ago: The Lodge bread and Normandy butter- I thought I was back in Europe...I could live on that flavorful and firmly textured bread toasted to perfection topped with a thick slathering of salty French buttery goodness. The French Onion Soup arrived beautifully browned and dripping with a medley of 3 cheeses- as you break through the cheese layer, to the bottom of the bowl, your spoon retrieves for you not only sweet caramelized onions with a rich hearty beef stock and bits of crusty bread, but also the delicious surprise of cubes of short rib--SHORT RIB, PEOPLE- in my French Onion Soup!! BONUS! What I loved most about it, was that it was not overly herbaceous as some tend to be heavy handed with the thyme. APL's take on the Caesar Salad was a deliciously prepared wedge of romaine topped with a perfectly balanced, smooth and creamy dressing with large shards of croutons atop. The Lamb immediately made me think of lamb that mom made...a grassy, fresh lamby taste that I have not had in FOREVER- grilled to perfection (i took home the bones so I could gnaw on them like an animal in the privacy of my own home) The mashed potatoes....should be renamed butter with potatoes and eaten by the heaping spoonfuls...reminiscent of Joel Robuchon. The creamed spinach had a bright spinach flavor that did not get muted by the clear addition of lots of cream and butter- a sign of good quality spinach. The Chocolate nemesis cake draped in house made whipped cream was absolutely decadent but not overly filling or rich- as soon as I tasted it- I knew it was a flourless cake- the lightness of texture and rich depth of the chocolate melted on my tongue. While it is pricey...You are paying not only for high end QUALITY food, but also APL talent and craft....right down to his personally forged steak knives.
