This was the "Sushi Chef Special" -- 10 pieces of nigiri, one chef's roll, and miso soup for $33 ($50 delivered with tip and ponzu). Nigiri was solid: warm rice, decent variety, nothing that blew me away. The roll? Classic bait-and-switch -- a Cali roll buried under tuna, spicy mayo, and tobiko. Messy as hell and trying way too hard. Just give me clean fish and let it speak. Presentation was sloppy but the cost-to-quality ratio makes it a decent deal. Full breakdown on TikTok: @TheRawReport We keep it raw. Sushi, not feelings.

Bad teriyaki. Best part was the rice and sake.

Edamame was terrible AGAIN and no salt. Bento box uninspired. Service subpar. Very DISSAPOINTED. This was my second try.

This neighborhood sushi restaurant has been a fixture in the UES community for a number of years. It survives quite well by serving quality food with a smile. Aside from indoor dining, there is a popular delivery business. The menu provides a large variety of sushi items as well as some sashimi and cooked kitchen dishes. A number of the rolls are named after years. One of our favorites is 2020. The rolls are not only tasty with multiple ingredients, they are very pleasing to the eye, almost works of art! Prices are reasonable. For example, beers are five dollars.

Yum! Ordered the sashimi chef special and miso eggplant via postmates. Was really impressed with the sashimi - the fish was fresh and the portions were great. I even had leftovers for the next day. Definitely a great value. The miso eggplant had nice flavors - it wasn't outstanding and only came with two small-ish pieces but not bad. Will likely order again for the sashimi and maybe try a different app!

Very solid sushi for its price! Nothing crazy fancy but I love how they have a big menu with lots of sushi, rolls, and sashimi options! Their sashimi fish were pretty fresh. Forgot the name of the specialty sushi roll I had but it was tasty! I only wish their tempura shrimp was a little more fluffy/crispy but otherwise had a great time! Its a small restaurant but as a result gives off intimate vibes without breaking your wallet. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food came out pretty quick! If you're feeling sushi/Japanese food and on a budget, this place can definitely satisfy cravings!

I come here all the time because I work nearby and I cannot stand the worker who answer the phone. All I asked is for extra teriyaki sauce, and she's lecturing me about how they charge for it. Just charge it then why do you have to lecture me for 5 minutes.

Good, fresh sushi in a cute place with fun vibes. We kept it simple with our order - salmon sushi and a few rolls. So good!! Give it a try.

Was walking in the area with my mom and passed by on the way to a bakery, but good thing we turned back. One of the staff members opened the door for us. It's wheelchair accessible. Attentive and helpful staff. Great first impression of the place - garden decor, chandeliers/ambient lighting. Got the Creme Anglaise souffle pancakes - with fresh fruits, very light and fluffy, not too sweet. Ice cream sounded simple on the menu - though just a small scoop, it came with red bean paste, fresh fruits so not bad @$6. Rose latte is rosy of course with crushed petals. Liked the food presentation, cute spoons. Will surely return. Restroom available.

We each ordered a drink and their crème anglaise soufflé pancake and Mont Blanc soufflé pancake to share as we're treating this as an afternoon tea time. I found their pancakes to be not as fluffy, pillowy and airy as I would have liked. The anglaise sauce wasn't too sweet which I appreciate but I couldn't really taste any vanilla and the orange zest flavor didn't really shine through. This is something I wouldn't order again. I did however, enjoyed their Mont Blanc pancake. The chestnut puree has the perfect consistency and the richness was well balanced with the cream. For the drink, I ordered their rose matcha latte and enjoyed it very much. The matcha had a clean note with a hint of balanced bitterness. The rose was fragrant and aromatic and paired well with the matcha. The foam was smooth and firm. I would definitely order this again. So the main issue I had was their service. We spilled a drink and even though the server stood beside us and saw what was happening, she stood there watching us clean up and did not even attempt to offer us more napkins until I asked for more. There were obviously a pile of wet napkins on the table after we're done but she still attempted to serve us our soufflé pancakes even though the table was a mess and I had to ask her to clear out the table before serving it, which in turn made our pancakes deflate a little by the time it was served. We also had to ask someone else to clean up the floors as she just stood there watching us. Overall, this is a cute little cafe that offers various food options that everyone should easily find something that they like. Service fell short but that could just be an individual. While I only went there for their pancakes this time, I would like to go back to their their other food options.

The squid, beef and scallops were very tasty. The veggies tempura were freshly fried and delicious. Could have been drained a little better. Salmon crispy rice was a hit but the star of the show was the sushi and sashimi deluxe and the blue Toro roll. Amazingly fresh. The passion toro was a little too sweet and fishy for us and had no passion fruit taste. Service here is amazing. Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.

My boyfriend was the one making the dashi, so I perused the fun goods while he built his base. The dashi does take some time to make, so you can select your blend, then leave for a while and come back later.
