If it's not him, I'm guessing it's his son. Anyways, you're able to pick your own table and they immediately bring you a menu. I've honestly tried everything on their menu, and everything is soooo good. My daughter normally gets the chicken katsu curry. The chicken has an amazing crust, and it's sweet! It compliments the spicy flavor of the curry. I always order a medium pho with brisket and beef balls with extra onions. Sooooo yum! For convenience it remains a part of the rotation but don't get me wrong it could use some love in other departments. While it can't control parking which was designed badly I really wish this place had more taste. Everything for what it's worth is blander than other places that while out of the way show off more in that department. Also another perhaps out of control thing is food generally comes out slower than we'd like your mileage on this may vary. What doesn't vary is the price jump. This place was already considered by my friends and I to be expensive for what you get portion wise and instead of say increasing the portions or quality the price jump is virtually unfounded. That being said, I would drive here if I lived elsewhere, they're really good and worth the effort. I've dined here several times and despite their wide varieties of Asian meals to choose from, I've only come for their pho. It's one of the best I've had on the island (#1 is Bac Nam). Their broth is very tasty, wonderful flavor. I always get the #67, large, which is their eye of round steak and brisket. It comes with a side of necessary veggies consisting of sprouts, Thai basil, lemon slices, and that long narrow green leaf that I have no idea what it is. It's the perfect amount for your bowl. The noodles are cooked perfectly, and you have your choice of various condiments related to your meal to apply. The steak arrived on a sizzling platter and the sauce can be applied upon arrival or dipped as you eat. FYI, if ordering wear appropriate shirt that could be splattered on. I thought ahead of time. The tempura came out first and it was very yummy. Fresh made to order crispy tempura. The rest of the food arrived a few minutes later. A tip, if you like medium steak slight pink. I recommend ordering medium rare. Your steak will cook additional time on the hot platter. I ordered medium but the steak had no pink and more well done or medium well. I love that the man cooking in the back (I think he's the owner) plays Christian music when it's not busy in the daytime. During these COVID times, they spread the tables apart and you need to get a temperature check and sign in on their guest book. We've been to this spot a few times. When you walk in, you fill out information about yourself, they take your temp and there is hand sanitizer on every table. They are really good about keeping everyone 6 ft apart. We had a party of 6 so we sat 4 on one table and 2 at another table that was close by. We ordered the Calamari and fried oysters. The calamari was perfect. The oysters were very good and juicy. They serve the oysters with ranch. Surprisingly it went great together. I recommend you try both. I loved this place so much I had dinner there 2 nights in a row and ordered the same item. On the first night Tess was our server and she was absolutely awesome. So extremely sweet she definitely made my first time there an exceptional experience. I was hoping when I returned the next night she would be there again but she wasn't. We came out to dinner on a Sunday night (me, my husband, and 2 kids) with the intentions of eating at Gyu-Kaku. With a 1 hour wait we decided to try out Saito & Pho. We were seated with no wait, which is definately a plus after being told that there was a 1 hour wait at Gyu-Kaku. They have quite an extensive menu with pho options as well as various tempura, udon and plate options. I ordered a lemongrass chicken sandwich and a medium chicken pho. Instead I got a tofu sandwich and a beef pho. I thought it was odd that our waitress took our order with no note pad, but thought maybe she was that good. She came back to confirm our order and it all looked to be right, guess not. My son ordered the salmon, which was very dry. It came with sashimi which was tasty and fresh, miso soup, and white rice. My daughter ordered udon tempura combo. She enjoyed it. The tempur was cooked very well. Hubby ordered tonkatsu curry plate. It came with white rice, miso soup, and toss salad. The portion wasn't enough for him and not worth the price. The flavor of everything was good. I don't think the broths were hot enough. The soda cost $2.99 and you get 2 cans for that price. The Thai tea and French iced coffee were both tasty and served in a cute glass but not worth the price. Overall the food was tasty but could be improved on. Service was okay.
