HANDS DOWN one of the best breakfasts I've had. I got the Loretta biscuit sandwich (named after a regular who ordered this combo often) and oh my gaaawwwwddddd it was unbelievable. Bacon, egg, homemade chipotle cream cheese, homemade strawberry jam, and cheese. Yes yes yes. We met Matt and his daughter and got to chat with them while we ate. I love getting to know small business owners, so it was really cool to see him working and running the shop that morning. I also got one of the cold brews (Nancy's, which has almond milk and a sweetener), and it was really good but too sweet for my taste. Would have loved to try the cold brew black - next time! The owner and sole "employee" Matt was extremely personable and friendly, told us about other local spots to look into- AND personally escorted us through his secret batcave entrance into the federal building so we could use the restrooms. We were stopping by Knoxville for a few nights and asked Matt for restaurant recommendations around town and he was super happy to point us to all the good spots. If you haven't had the opportunity to checkout the photography on his Instagram, I suggest you do. It is truly next level -- this is how you know the food will be good, the pictures don't lie! The biscuits were delicious, my personal favorite was the Feta & Chive, but my sister loved the Cheddar & Garlic. My husband got the hazelnut late and said "it was delightful, not overly sweet, unlike most coffee houses." The line was long, but hang in there friends. It's 100% worth the wait. I lived in Knoxville for two years and didn't manage to visit Matt until I had moved away and was stopping in town on my way through TN. Delicious biscuit and awesome conversation, Matt will sit and chit chat with you and is super kind. You can tell he really cares about his customers, while I was there he knew every single person who walked in like they were family! The location is very small but he has a small counter with a few seats. Hope he grows enough to get somewhere with more seating. Will definitely visit again. If you are in Knoxville go here. Get there early, like 15-20 minutes before they open. The wait in line is well worth it. This is a one man show and it is impressive. Before I get into the food let me tell you. I've been in hospitality for almost 35 years. This guy loves his craft. I'm not going to call this a job because it seemed to me that he did not look at it like a job he loved what he was doing. He was talking to everyone. It was clear he knew quite a few of the folks in line. He was joking with people asking where they were from, first time in. Made you feel like you were talking to an old friend you hadn't seen in awhile. Now the food. We got a bacon egg and cheese and the special which was(I think) cheddar herb biscuit, garlic, bacon, egg, double cheddar. So you order and he make these right in front of you. After making them he puts them back in oven for 5 ish minutes. When they come out they are hot though and through, biscuits are a little crispy on the bottom, soft and moist in the middle. Cheese is melted down over the sides. Honestly probably one of the best biscuit sandwiches I have ever had, and anyone that knows me knows how strongly I believe biscuits should be their own food group. Coffee was good as well. The coffee was a good roast. I really dislike weak coffee. This was not weak but also not too over the top. Seriously if you're in Knoxville go, go early. Note. No real seating inside, few tables and chairs outside. Plan to take them with you but highly recommend eating them asap while still hot! Rock on with your awesome biscuits Matt Robb! If something is promoted by K Brew, then it must be good, right? This little shop replaced the K Brew location in the courthouse, but it's not a sad replacement! According to Matt, he makes everything from scratch, and it shows in the food! The biscuits are a nice balance of slightly crispy on the outside, with fluffiness on the inside. My only thing was that they were a little crumbly, so they can fall apart easily when trying to eat it in the paper wrapper it comes in. Flavor wise, the biscuit isn't too salty or sweet. It's also a "build your own biscuit" style with both sweet and savory options. The homemade strawberry jam was a perfect compliment to the pillows of flavor. There are also coffee options, with the cold brew already coming sweetened with milk. Next time I'll get it by itself to really get the full flavor of coffee, which was brewed smoothly. They have some ready to go items like salads also. Prices for biscuits are decent, with the drink and coffee options being pricier (cold brew was about $5). I wish they were open on the weekends, because they would be a great thing to have after the farmers market! They only opened this past Monday, so I look forward to seeing how they grow! read more
