Just bacon and a regular biscuit
    Maureen N.

Heard good things about this place from a colleague. So decided to check it out. Sadly, although I arrived within an hour of opening, he had already sold out of the blueberry biscuit. So I opted for the regular biscuit. Overall, the biscuit wasn't impressive. It was small and not flaky. Not up to par with others I've had. To worsen matters, would have expected more slices of bacon if I'm to be charged $3. Was a disappointing visit.

Matt is his small but efficient kitchen!

I have been wanting to visit this place for quite awhile now, and I actually did try one other time and he was all sold out! So I thought that I would come earlier this time...welllllllll.....They open at 9am and we arrived at 9:45.....he was already sold out of his regular biscuits and the blueberry ones. He only had a few of the garlic cheddar left!!!! So, we tried the garlic cheddar with egg and cheese and my husband had a cup of coffee. BEST BISCUIT IN KNOXVILLE!!!!!! My husband said that his coffee was very good also! We definitely are going to come back! Matt is so warm, friendly, laid back and yes - fun! I ask him if I could take his picture for my review and he said sure - then he insisted that we take a selfie together and not smile!!! So much personality along with his incredible baking talents! He visits with everyone and is full of real good ole Southern charm. The place is very small inside and Matt is a one man show. But he is so efficient that he doesn't really need anyone else. There are a few tables outside where you can sit and enjoy every bite of this deliciousness! I would highly recommend that you get there before 9am.

Taste the goodness of the biscuit.

Yeah there's a wait. Guess what? There's a wait for a reason. And if you know how to run a business this is the right way to do it. Make them wanting to come back...had a blueberry biscuit w sausage, honey, butter and double cheese. Taste the goodness of the biscuit!

Stumbled across this little gem... Really busy, tiny place tucked inside the courtyard across the street from the courthouse. The blueberry biscuits here are amazing. I ordered the blueberry biscuits, smoked sausage, egg and cheese. He charges for each item you add onto it. Deee-licous!! I would definitely be back, but bring your patience..he is the only one working here. Long lines. But he knows his regulars.

Best biscuit in Tennessee! Top 5 best in the southeast. The meticulous attention to detail when Matt prepares your biscuit of choice is an experience all on its own. Every biscuit is prepared with TLC. Please be patient and don't be rude. Two necessities when experiencing this delicacy. The crunchy exterior pairs so well with the spice from the cream cheese spread. Absolutely phenomenal. I also ordered an iced latte, which was great, and a plain biscuit with jelly. Lovely morning meal.

Listen, I don't know what kind of biscuit sorcery Matt Robb is working with, but whatever it is, don't question it. Just eat it. It's literally a man, making biscuits, and doing it better than anyone else out there. Period. It's simple. It's honest. It's ridiculously good. Get the biscuit. Get two. Matt Robb didn't come here to play.

Best biscuit I've ever had!! If you ever want the true experience I recommend coming at opening time because stuff sells out immediately, like within an hour or two. My wife and I walked in and were greeted by Matt himself, super friendly as he is a one man act making and operating the place by himself. By the time we got there they were sold out of all meats, but he had 3 blueberry biscuits left, so of course we tried them. We had them with an egg and some cheese. They are sensational, filling and tasty in every bite. I hope to return in the Knoxville area again one day so I can try more.

The place had 2 customers silently sitting and maybe working on their computers but the whole place felt sterile and lifeless. I wasn't greeted and stood at the counter for a few minutes while the lone employee arranged items until I finally asked if I could order. I wanted to sample a variety- so I got an apple fritter, a snickerdoodle donut, a buttermilk old fashioned, and a blueberry Pączki. The apple fritter was the best of those 4. The snickerdoodle was just a traditional cinnamon sugar donut. The base was a bit dry yet also tasted oily. The buttermilk old fashioned had a similar greasy flavor and not the tang I'd expect from this type of donut. The Pączki was just a minimally filled jelly donut...and the dough was very greasy. Normally, the dough is more bready and has a more rich flavor. The ones I've always eaten in the past are heavily filled. This place seems like it has potential but it just lacks the quality or personality I'm looking for in a local gem. Nothing was awful but nothing was great either.

I ordered a standard hot latte no added flavor just 2% milk. What I got was a full bodied, rich and smooth cup of coffee. The roast has no bitterness. Very enjoyable. My wife asked for something sweet hot and they recommended a latte with honey and cayenne. It was just right. Kick of heat and not too sweet. A surprising star of our visit was an apple tart! It paired so well with our coffees. It was fresh and a nice balance of crisp tart and warm apple. We also brought one of our dogs with us and Awaken is very pet friendly. There was also another pet owner chilling at a nearby table. Great stop. We highly recommend Awaken if you are in the area. Be advised that parking is paid in the area.

Parking is a little bit of a struggle but it's to be expected in a denser area like this. I got their speciality honey bear latte iced. It was prepared quickly and was super yummy! The cinnamon and honey flavor was sweet and strong and it had a great ratio of coffee to milk. Would happily order again! My one complaint is service was kind of...icy? I dunno, the barista never approached or asked if I had any questions and just generally gave the vibe that she'd rather not be helping me. It didn't feel very welcoming, but she wasn't outright rude, either. Still, coffee is the most important thing, and in that regard they absolutely delivered!
