It's not often that you see someone leave a 5-star review for a service provider that they didn't even use, but that's what I'm doing! I first called Matt during the big freeze last winter bc I thought my kitchen sink was clogged. Other plumbers had agreed to come take a look and warned me the fix might be expensive. Instead Matt diagnosed right over the phone that there was a 99% chance my pipes were frozen and that I should wait until temps increased in a couple days to see if it went away. He said "I could come out & do a costly estimate & open the drain but I don't want to waste your money. If it doesn't fix itself when temps rise above 32 for a couple days, call me & I'll come right out." Even though he was slammed w calls bc of the deep freeze, he talked to me for several more minutes giving me pointers and general advice. Sure enough he was right! As soon as the weather warmed the sink was back to draining as usual. He saved me hundreds of dollars and also just did the right thing, unlike the others I called. In short: we all know that a trustworthy plumber is invaluable. For that reason, Mattco is the way to go!! Can't possibly recommend them more highly! read more

First of all they got 5 stars on Angi's list so now we know they lie too! I ask for plumber in my zip code area. Call this dude Matt the owner. He says sure to my task right away. I take all kinds of pictures and send to him asking him to call me ASAP to make appointment. Not only does he NOT call, when I call him to see why he says "yeah we're not getting down near your building any time soon." Tells me they are in Des Plaines. Not what he's got on Angi's List. On there he's about 12 blocks away from me. Rude and unprofessional not to respond to me and typical slip-shod no show. read more

I hired Matt to fix a problem a tenant had caused when he disassembled a bathtub faucet. After texting Matt pictures of the faucet and the parts involved Matt told me he could fix it but there would be a $130 charge for an emergency visit and that the total would be about $300. When he showed up a few hours later he brought the wrong part. When I suggested to him that Menards had the correct part, he told me they didn't sell the faucet, Home Depot did. He later called from Home Depot and told me they didn't have the part. In the meantime I had found the correct part on Menards website. He went and picked it up, came back and installed it. Although this allowed me to turn the water back on to the building, he was unable to reinstall the faucet. He told me I would have to order a new faucet from the manufacturer. He ended up charging me almost $500 for this visit, and the bathtub was still unusable when he left. Despite the astronomical charge, he did not offer to return to install the faucet. I ended up installing it myself. read more

Matt and Jon are the best. They helped me through an extended situation involving leaks between condos. The situation was frustrating, but Matt and Jon never complained. He was on time for this first appointment, friendly, and extremely honest. Matt explained what had happened and gave us a variety of possible solutions depending on how involved we wanted to get. Called them about a water leak. They came out as scheduled, identified the toilet as the issue, and quickly replaced it the same morning. They had to cut a hole in the ceiling, but John recommended a clean up company to repair the water damage. John was very nice, got along with my dogs and did a great job. read more

We are working on my Mom's condo and the bathroom and kitchen needed some major TLC. The bathroom leak originated in the bathroom ceiling and required the cooperation of the upstairs neighbor. He was running about 20min late, but called to let me know about that ahead of time. He had everything he needed and quickly fixed the toilet pump. These guys at Mattco Plumbing are really great. I needed an old toilet and bathroom faucet replaced, and the experience was pretty awesome. Matt first came over to take a look at the situation first-hand. Matt was on time (called when he was close), friendly, knowledgeable, and in the end gave us a very reasonable price. He was also on time, knowledgeable, patient (explained everything he was doing in detail), and I could tell that he has a strong work ethic, which was refreshing. Matt has done two separate jobs for us in our condo and did superb work in both cases. He fixed a pipe leak in our downstairs ceiling and more recently repaired a slow toilet that wasn't self-cleaning properly. He was prompt in responding to calls, arrived on time for the scheduled work, kept the work area clean, and was very careful and detail-oriented in completing both jobs. I would conclude this review by writing that I will happily call him for future plumbing issues in our condo, but we just discovered a new ceiling leak , so I'm about to call him again now. In January 2018, I had been having trouble with a very slow moving drain in my bathtub. Eventually it stopped draining at all. I keep a very busy schedule, and didn't have much free time to wait for a plumber. Finally, I called Matt. He came the same day and fixed the problem. I had Matt at my place for a second visit due to water leakage from the second floor onto the first floor. Matt was able to find and solve the problem very quickly. He also noticed that my kitchen floor was very cold so he recommended me to have an electrician install a heating system in my garage (which is directly below the kitchen). This obviously was not in his field of work but he generally seemed to care about my home's condition. Matt came to our condo on short-notice for some leaking toilets, which turned out to be a bigger job than originally thought. He was great throughout, explaining to us what he thought the problem was, then walking us through the diagnosis and remedy when what we really needed was a whole new toilet. He was extremely professional, and gave us some really helpful information in regards to the new home that we've just purchased (basically, what new homeowners need to think about in terms of sump pumps, etc).
