I gave this restaurant 3 stars because the food was good and flavorful. However, I was disappointed by the value. The prices are high, but the portions are small with all of our dishes. My biggest issue was the $33 Moules Au Pernod. The shells were normal size, but the mussels inside were tiny. For a restaurant at this price point, I would expect much better quality. It seemed like the restaurant either received a poor-quality batch or chose to serve undersized mussels that should have been noticed before reaching customers. The food was enjoyable, but the portion sizes and quality of the mussels didn't justify the premium prices. With better value and more attention to ingredient quality, my rating would have been higher. read more

Oh, plenty. Their Mussels Provençale, swimming in a garlic-infused basil and tomato broth. And then there's the classic Salade Frisée aux Lardons, crispy chunks of bacon, topped with a soft-boiled egg. But honestly, I often just pop in for their rich, flavorful coffee, because sometimes, a good cup of joe is all you need to turn any day around. Bistro Cassis has been in Huntington for a long time, and my family and guests came for brunch the other day to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated in the back and attended to promptly, but the service was especially slow, which was disappointing. I also felt like the menu was smaller this time around than when I was here last. The food was pretty good, I ordered an Eggs Benedict with Dill Sauce, and I was glad I switched that out rather than the regular Hollandaise. 3.5/5 read more

Met a friend who loves this place. We both had their burgers for lunch. I had the hamburger lyonnaise. It was very good and hit the spot! Fried onions and bacon was what I needed with some tomatoes. We ordered maison burgers through door dash. We've had them many times in the restaurant and they are delicious with melted cheese, sautéed onions , bacon and a delicious sauce. The burgers were delivered plain - no cheese, onions, bacon or sauce. We called the restaurant to let them know of the mistake and were told you have to specifically request the maison burger's toppings even though you ORDERED the maison burger! We then spoke with the manager, who reiterated the same thing and offered no apology, no concession of any kind. I told him he was handling this situation poorly and that we would spread the word. He responded that they've been in business for 20 years and anything we said would not affect their business! Wow! Nice attitude towards customers! So disappointed. Quick note, I've never wrote a negative review in my life. My experience was just so awful and it's been bothering me so much, I was compelled to. My wife and I decided to go to dinner here, Saturday night for our anniversary. We decided after reading online that the restaurant had won best French restaurant in LI a number of years in a row. Ordered the soup du jour (white beans/veg) and mussels to start. Both were bland and ok at best. Definitely did not hit expectations. No worries, still looking forward to my main dish, Steak frites. Steak comes out and the bus boy decides to just throw the steak knives on the table. Ok, I cut into it and it was raw as raw could be (I ordered medium). Waitress (who was nice to be fair) never came back to check on us. I had to flag down one of fouled faced busboys to tell them that this steak was still mooing. Mind you, I never send food back but had no choice here. Finally got someone to take it back and it comes back, burnt to a crisp. Literally inedible. Again waitress never comes back to check. At this point, I just want to get out of there. I had to flag down another waitress and asked for the check. This waitress sees a full burnt steak sitting there, never asks how was everything or is everything alright. She simply dropped the check and kept it moving. I paid considering I started my career in the service industry, working as a busboy and eventually a waiter. I'm embarrassed to complain and I would never want to hurt working class people. I have gone many times to Bistro Cassis and have had many wonderful dinner experiences with their food and service, so I decided to go during Nassau's Restaurant week 2025 for lunch. Although, after reading the restaurants' website; the website stated that there was a pre fix lunch special. However, upon arriving at the restaurant, the host stated the restaurant was not honoring the pre fix lunch at the Huntington location. I felt mislead, but decided to stay and order from the menu a la carte. The dishes, I ordered, however traditionally French, did lack the attempt of making of passable French food. Love that this place is close to home! Great addition in Huntington village, they don't take reservations so it's first come first serve, but let me tell you the food is worth it! First time I went was for my husbands birthday a few weeks ago and already been back since then! The place has a French cafe ambiance which I love, can't wait to sit outside in the summer and staff is very friendly and attentive! The escargot and French onion soup here is YUM! Escargot honestly melts in your mouth and has the perfect combo of garlic and butter with croutons! For my meal I had the tagliatelle beef bourguignon. The beef is so tender with the sauce and pasta which was so good I had to go back again another time to have! My friends had steak frites, chicken, and pork chops and they all raved about it. I was excited about going there for lunch with my friends and had suggested it bc they were listed for participating in LI Restaurant week. When I got there, my friends told me that they were told that the "lunch" prefix was a "mistake" and they would NOT honor the mistake made by whoever is in charge of Restaurant week. I was on my lunch hour so it was too late to leave at that point and go somewhere else. I had a $22 salad with beets/goat cheese which was good but my friends ordered the crepes and the quiche and was not impressed. Said it tasted like chicken pot pie. My friend wanted another soda and was told they charge for each pour. Oh well-I don't usually write a Yelp review but the fact that they wouldn't honor someone else's screw up that got us there in the first place compelled me to write this honest review. What a horrendous experience. Came here for my sisters birthday dinner. Our waiter was absolutely HORRIBLE. We literally could not even get a straw from him. We asked several times for a simple straw and we were just ignored. He never checked in. Never asked if we wanted another drink. Nothing. We were sitting in a corner table near the bar. The restaurant was relatively empty, three indoor tables at the most. Something must have spilled by the bar...it leaked out to our table. My pants and shoes were totally soaked! We informed the waiter. He said "I didn't think it would leak out here too". He called for Francisco to come clean it up. He did not offer to move us, or apologize for my now soaked pants. I understand that it is very difficult to get restaurant staff and am trying to keep this in mind, but with the staff they have they maybe need a new strategy. The last 2 times we have been there i ordered another glass of wine when my meal comes. One time it didn't come until after I finished eating and this last time was almost the same. I have been passing by this place for years and finally had the opportunity to try it. We got lucky on a Saturday night and were able to be seated right away. We started off with French onion soup and Espagnole style musssels that have chorizo and a tomato broth. The French onion soup was nice, but on the sweeter side vs the traditional savory, and the mussels were outstanding. For dinner we split the duck- fantastic, and the sole- also really good. We also had a bottle of the house red blend which was amazing. For dessert we got the chocolate mousse which was great. Service was good as well. Can't wait to come back! read more

A wonderful French restaurant on Long Island! I feel like it's hard to come by a good quality French restaurant here so I'm happy that Cassis satisfies that necessary niche. The food is OUTSTANDING! Excellent quality French food and definitely worth the price. The cocktails are also made extremely well. I had the bourbontini and it was wonderful. They also made an incredible espresso martini to finish the evening with a dessert cocktail. The interior is adorable! It's a quaint restaurant, and they use every space necessary to squeeze in tables. The staff is very attentive. Cassis doesn't take reservations so you need to arrive early and prepare to wait. (Disclaimer: before posting this review I emailed both Cassis and the restaurant group that Cassis operates under, RestStar Hospitality, about my experience and haven't heard back from either in a week. I've also called Cassis twice to speak with the manager and he/she is never available when I call, and have also called RestStar Hospitality; when calling them I was greeted with a voice menu listing several businesses, which leads me to suspect RestStar Hospitality may be owned by a private equity firm, which would explain the downward trajectory of quality I recently experiences at Cassis. Frankly, what bothers me the most is that neither the restaurant or ownership seem to have any interest in addressing my experience. Below is the email I sent them). My wife and I have children and occasionally get some time to ourselves for a nice dinner. Bistro Cassis has been one of the destinations we've visited repeatedly over the years when we're feeling like having a special dinner and spending a bit more money than we typically would as a treat to ourselves. This past Friday night we dined at Bistro Cassis; I've ordered just about every entree on the menu over the years so I decided to go with one I hadn't ordered yet, the steak frites. At $57 I thought the price was a bit steep for such a simple staple of a bistro menu, but decided to order it anyway. The cut of beef was not near the quality to be charging $57 for, the steak had barely any flavor (and surprisingly the maître d'hotel butter was lacking flavor as well), and the frites were pedestrian at best. I've had plenty of disappointing meals over the years, I think we all have, but given the price for this meal compared with the low quality of the dish I actually felt ripped off. This wasn't the case of the steak simply being overcooked; it was a combination of poor preparation/planning of the dish, low-quality ingredients, and underwhelming execution. I didn't complain at the restaurant because I didn't want to ruin dinner with my wife as it's not an occasion we get to enjoy often. It's a shame to say I won't be dining at Bistro Cassis again. My wife and I always enjoyed our prior meals there, we love the food offered at a French style bistro and felt up until Friday night Cassis was a great option, but we can't afford to take the risk of paying (what is for us) a good amount of money for a bad meal. I felt you should hear about our experience; given the fickle nature of the restaurant business this is not the kind of food you want your restaurant to be putting out of the kitchen, at least not at the prices you're charging. If I had this experience I don't think it's a stretch to assume other diners are having similar experiences, as well. read more

Great French spot in Huntington. The mussels are our go to appetizer. The red sauce is absolutely delicious and you can soak it up with the bread they give you. We then got a variety of entrees, which were all enjoyable. Get the chocolate mousse for dessert. Great spot for date night. Simply put the food during the Sunday Brunch was very good, however the service was truly horrible. My wife ordered a Mushroom and Goat cheese Crepe and when the plate arrived it was a Mushroom Spinach omelet. After many attempts to flag down our waiter he took the dish back to the kitchen  blaming the kitchen for the error. When it returned it was the same mushrooms and spinach in a crepe. At this point between the wrong dish, my not getting the drink I ordered and the accompanied sauces being incorrect we surrended.Upon telling the waiter what occurred he took off one of the drinks from the bill and said he was sorry for the episode, never the less we shall not return read more

I love French food but there aren't a lot to choose from on Long Island. I've eaten several times at their sister restaurant Brasserie Cassis in Plainview which I loved also. It's just Huntington can be a hike for me; so this was my first visit. Plus it was Restaurant Week & they had a great menu to choose from. They didn't skimp on choices like some places can do for LIRW. Food Boo Justin & I had just left American Beauty Bistro in Massapequa to meet up with the bartender we just met, but we had some time to kill so we stopped here for a bite to eat. We sat at the bar like we usually do. Martine our beautiful bartendress (Not sure if that's a word but I'm using it. I'll patent it later LOL) was soooo accommodating while she took care of us & the entire packed restaurant without breaking a sweat. You get a plate of complimentary Parmigiano Reggiano & marinated olives that I literally wish I could have taken a cup home. Served with hot baguettes with butter & liver pate, I was in heaven. I didn't need anything else. Martine suggested a red wine which I really enjoyed. I would definitely buy this bottle & not being a big wine drinker that says a lot. We shared an appetizer of Steak Tartare. Very good but next time I would ask for onions. A quail egg would be nice but it wasn't necessary. I ordered the Escargot & Justin got the Onion Soup. Both were delicious! The escargot were buttery tender. We followed that up with Crispy Duck with Orange Sauce served with Haricots Verts & Wild Rice & Justin had chicken breast with spaetzle. The dinner was fabulous (as always). My partner (who had never eaten at Bistro Cassis) and I started with the Salad Chèvre, then moved to the Chicken Chardonnay and the Duck Breast. Everything was delicious. We got to the restaurant at 5:30 , so we had our choice of tables and we chose one in the corner. By the time we left, all but three tables were filled. One of my favorite gems in Huntington. Bistro Cassis is great for date night, whether you are a new couple or dating for a long time. I come here a few times a year and always get the roasted chicken with au jous, fries, & veggies and their lava cake. The au jous was so good and really completed the meal. They also have some of the best bread in Huntington that they serve upon arrival with some cool paste (sorry i don't know what the real name is, I'm not good with French food). But it's delicious! I ordered tonight to try to support local restaurants during the coronavirus and it was 5 stars all around. I ate too fast to take photos but did snap a quick pic of dessert. We were in Huntington on a Thurday afternoon and drove past Bistro Cassis. Having fond memories of Cassis Brasserie in Plainview, we decided to stop in for lunch. I was a little dissapointed to see that there weren't any lunch specials, but we still ordered the escargot and the clafoutis as well as a couple of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc glasses of wine. The tables were a little tight as one expects in a French bistro. Both the escargot and the clafoutis were delicious. My dissapointment came when we received the bill and saw that we were charged for sancerre. I brought this error to the attention of the waitress who quickly remedied the situation bringing my bill 10 dollars lower than initially charged. I like to think that this was an honest mistake, but I will make sure to examine the bill should I return read more

Last review was nine years ago, so giving an update. Food is still absolutely incredible and consistently amazing. We have never had a bad experience here. Service knows what they're doing- they always pace everything out very nicely, and are very efficient and professional. We never feel rushed, even when it's busy. Inside is very cozy, and during the warmer months you can sit outside. This place remains our favorite for a good reason. There is nothing on the menu that isn't delicious. We tend to stick by our favorites, which are the pistachio rack of lamb, the duck cassis, steak tartare, mussels, French onion soup and the lardons salad. On occasion we'll venture off, and we have never been disappointed. There's a reason Cassis has been around in Huntington as long as it has- don't miss this one! read more

Somehow it seems Cassis has only gotten better with age. I am a fan of short reviews so here are the key notes. Our server Michelle was great, attentive, always there, never rushed us. Still, even the bread and water always there when needed. The timing of the courses was impeccable. Not too fast, but never wondering where your food is. The food, all perfectly executed. My best kudos for last, it seems the staff is trained to not take a single plate from the table until all the diners are finished. So first you have to use a steak knife. The dried chick peas as opposed to croutons sounds well enough but they were dry and hollow. Weird. Dressing was mediocre. Onion soup was delicious!!! Half way through the meal, the staff got up on ladders and proceeded to disassemble the decor and clean. The waiter then informed is that they close at 9pm. Terrible experience.
