I live currently in Northern Cal, but I've been to Dr. Luxenberg many times and visit when I'm in town. He is a very good dermatologist, who is very skilled at dermatologic surgery. I had a few small lipomas removed by him; he popped them right out on the spot, and left only a very small scar. Previously, at two other OC dermatolgist's office, I had 3 other small lipomas removed: all three left large nasty scars and 1 of them required "twilight sleep" for the procedure. After experiencing Luxenberg's skilled technique, I realized that the other OC doctors I had went to were ignorant and borderline malpractice; that is to say, that had no idea what they were doing; i.e., they were literally hacks. Dr Luxenberg, meanwhile, is extremely skilled and no-nonsense. If you need a mole, skin tag, lipoma or other annoyance removed, you simply cannot do better than going to Dr. Luxenberg. He will do the procedure on the spot, the first time you see him, without a bunch of nonsense delays. He will also do it right--you won't get a big scar or get cut up. I rarely do reviews of businesses or Drs, but in this case I happened to see the two negative reviews on this site and thought I'd put in my two cents, because I feel that he is an excellent physician and has saved me from getting some bad scars, which I would've gotten from some other doctors had I not become his patient. As I understand it, he is board certified in dermatologic surgery, which many derms are not, and also teaches other physicians how to bill insurance correctly. His billing was MUCH less expensive for me and smoother with my insurance company than any other doctor I've been to, and everything was very simple. I will say that you may wait an extra 30 minutes or so past your appointment at times (but not always), however that is because he is doing actual work in the office and not just doing consultations. He is well worth the wait and you will get a lot more done in one visit than any where else. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Luxenberg's for 5 years. He has been an outstanding Dermatologist and has removed suspicious looking lesions and moles in the past. He is excellent at articulating skin care, use of sunscreens and how to be aware of odd, suspicious moles and stresses to call the office if one of these moles occur. Last week a mole on my calf started to bleed, as well it looked like it had grown from when I last recalled viewing this area of my body. I called Dr. Luxenberg's office the next morning and they were able to schedule me on an emergency basis later the same day. I waited no longer than 20 minutes to get into an exam room to see Dr. Luxenberg. I was very concerned and nervous, but Dr. was very comforting and reassuring which helped to mitigate my apprehension. He removed the lesion in about 10 minutes, while also giving me a sound skin check. After he biopsied the mole, he called me personally 3 days after to let me know the lesion was negative. The wound healed incredibly well and I am extremely thankful for Dr.'s surgical skills as well as his caring bedside manner and his witty personality. Also, his staff is very accommodating and warm, which makes the whole experience positive. Overall, this visit was comparable to all my other visit's to Dr. Luxenberg, which is outstanding. This is an update to my earlier ratings of Dr. Luxenberg. I think he's amazing and I'm extremely happy to have him as my doctor. He is knowledgeable, well mannered, polite, and intelligent, and he takes the time to explain your prognosis, which is why patients have to wait a while to see him. In my opinion, it's well worth the wait. Over the past two weeks, Dr. Luxenberg removed a couple of cholesterol deposits from my eyelids while my husband observed. My husband said that Dr. Luxenberg's hands were very steady. I would have to agree since my husband because any time the good doctor has removed liver spots and/or moles or taken skin samples or biopsies, my skin heals wonderfully, without scarring. I'm sooooo pleased with Dr. Luxenberg's work. I've been looking for a physician to remove the lipoma in my chin for over 3 years. Throughout this process I was surprised to discover how very few of the doctors were trained or skilled in removing lipomas. Dr. Luxenberg was the perfect fit for me. He was very personable, made me feel at ease and removed my lipoma quickly and painlessly. Though I had to wait about an hour post my appointment to see him it was absolutely worth it. The procedure site healed beautifully and without any complications and within a week the stitches were removed leaving no indication of the surgery site and no scar. I have seen Dr. Luxenberg 6 times now--and he is fantastic. I've read the reviews, and yes, sometimes I've had to wait to see him, but that's because he is extremely thorough, and never rushes me. He always performs a full exam--unlike my previous dermatologist. His surgical skills are the best--I have had many moles removed in my life, and Dr. Luxenberg's technique leaves the least marks of any moles I've had removed. His friendly personality makes me feel ar ease, as if I were part of his family. His staff are helpful, and his office is up to date. Dr. Luxenberg is fabulous. He is very knowledgeable and easygoing. I recently went in to check a small dark lump on my leg. Few seconds after looking at the bump, he concluded it was a fibrous tumor and gave me 3 options. I decided to get it removed, and I was done in 5 minutes. He's very experienced. I have been a patient of Dr. Luxenberg's for several years. My whole family goes to him. We may wait sometimes, but he is worth it. He caught a cancer that I didn't even think was anything to worry about. My daughter's face is free and clear of acne and that's important for a teenage girl. This was my first time being treated by a dermatologist and not some strip mall spa. Dr. Luxenberg treated my sun spots that became the focal point of my face. Dr. Luxenberg has done a great job for me. He has a great knowledge of skin problems and has removed many of the potential skin problems i had. I see him every 6 months or so. Great Dr I just saw him for the second time took care of couple of growths and removed two of my moles.

Wait time is terrible... I waited 1 hour to see the doctor and he only sees me for less than 5 mins.
