The sweet potato pie was really yummy. The only qualm I have is that EVERY single vegetable item has pork in it. EVERYTHING. I know we're in the south, but I haven't eaten pork since the late 90s so it just truly never occurred to the that would be the case in 2026. I likely won't go back for a full meal because of this, because I don't want to get just meat and carbs. It was also a little pricey. $50 for 2 meals and a slice of pie. I would absolutely come back to get a slice of pie to go! That would definitely be worth the drive.

Business in Atlanta. Decided to stop because of triple D. Place smelled of grease, not fresh and clean. The line staff as not friendly. Internet menu said Turkey and Dressing on Tuesday but that has changed to Thursday so I got the chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes and Italian style green beans. Husband got BBQ beef brisket, macaroni and cheese, rice with butter. End of line to pay and girl at register said to go take a seat. Music was very loud in front seating area. We opted for seats beside entry door. The chicken and dumplings were watery and so full of salt, it was inedible. Mashed potatoes were thin and lacked seasoning (instant maybe), green beans were very good and seasoned well. There were no rolls and husband asked for them. At this time, a lady manager came to our table to inquire about why we didn't pay. We told her the girl told us to go take a seat and pay afterwards. She left and came back and said sorry, she tought we were with the big group that came in. No problem, she said. You can pay after you eat. Husband told her about the too salty chicken and dumplings and no rolls. I chose to try the meatloaf and both were brought to the table and she said the whole pot of chicken and dumplings was pulled from the line because all of it was salted multiple times in the back and apologized again. My potatoes and green beans are now cold from waiting. The meatloaf was hot but raw in the center with a weird taste and greasy with grease piling on my plate. I couldn't eat any of it. The yeast rolls were nice. Husbands brisket was very good. His rice was good enough but the macaroni and cheese was dry and rubbery. We left tip on the table and paid the manager lady. Laurenda's Cafeteria in Greer SC or Jackson's Cafeteria in Gastonia NC could teach them a lot about fantastic food. We won't be back. Supper 7pm on July 31, 2018. read more

I don't know why people like this place. It is overpriced, the staff is rude, the selection of food is horrible and the restaurant looks like it hasn't been cleaned or painted in 20 years. I asked the employee behind the counter if I could wait for some hot chicken and they looked at me like I was crazy. I was told that there were people in line and if I wanted hot chicken to go back to the end of the line and wait. Two pieces of chicken, a side and a slice of pie cost me $12. The chicken at Publix is better and for $12 I could have 10 pieces. The pecan pie was so sweet I could not eat it. Getting a refill on my drink never happen.ed. Try to get the attention of one of the people that work there is almost naught. I guess people go there because its been there for like 1000 years and looks and smells like that. This place is horrible. They have not spent a dime on this building in 30 years. The plastic guard over the food hangs from chains and the hot tables were full of backed on food. Thfe food was okay but I thought $13.00 was a little to expensive for 3 chicken tenders 2 small sides and a drink. They were out of honey mustard. Go to Krogers and buy a bottle! The staff is not friendly at all. I have no idea how they have survived all these years. I will stick with Picadilly or Magnolias. At least there it does not look like you are eating in a basement of a tenement building. read more

I would give this place 6 stars if I could! Just moved to the area and a neighbor told me about this hidden gem. It is very basic and really set up in the fashion of a cafeteria but the food was so homemade and awesome and everyone there was just good old Southern folk. Love it and will be back for sure! read more

A staff member across the bar told me to seat myself, so I did. I waited for a while expecting someone to come by and properly greet or assist me, but no one ever came over. At that point, I decided to leave. Based on this experience, I don't think I'll be returning to this location. I'll stick with the Decatur location, where the service and overall experience have been much better.

There's plenty of parking, but seating is limited since it's located inside a commercial kitchen building. I would consider this more of a great pickup-and-go spot. The team here was OUTSTANDING. When we walked in, the chef gave us some chicken wings to try, and man, they were GOOD! That immediately had us excited for the rest of our food. We ordered the catfish, fried shrimps and white fish with mac & cheese, green beans, and collard greens. I loved every bite. Everything was well seasoned, fried perfectly, and nicely presented. My only complaint was that the collard greens were a little too salty for my taste. Other than that, everything was delicious. I would personally give the food a 4.5/5, but the overall experience gets 5 stars from me. Great food, amazing hospitality, and the kind of small business you feel good supporting. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area and craving some good soul food!

Of course my sides are still gonna be the mac & cheese and the yams, but I also get the collard greens and the cornbread muffins to make my meal complete. The fried jumbo shrimp are also really good. Don't sleep on the desserts because the cakes are delicious as well.
