I had been wanting to try Matty G's at another location, but when I finally was able, they closed. I'm not frequently in the area, but as I was making plans, I made sure to include it as a stop. I'm a big sports fan so as soon as I walked in, I was all about the baseball and sports collection all around the restaurant. Lots of great fun facts about baseball greats like Jackie Robinson, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, Willie Mays & many more. To eat, I went with the Triple Crown, which is a double steakburger, bacon and a fried egg. I added lettuce, tomato's and pickles. I thought the egg was gonna be fried all the way through, but it was more like a fried sunny-side-up egg. I wasn't gonna let that stop me from enjoying. Added the fries & drink combo to the burger and figured to upgrade to the garlic fries to see how they were done. While I waited, I enjoyed the decor and learn a few new things about some of my favorite baseball players. My burger was on point and great. I like the garlic fries, but I've always included rosemary, and I think that was missing for me. They have alcohol and a bar around the corner. I like being able to self-serve myself with soft drinks. Seating outside is patio pet-friendly and offers great shading if you come in the afternoon as the sun sets behind the building. They have this location and one in Flagstaff that I will absolutely return back for. I do think I spent more than expected, but it was a great quality burger. I just wish the fries came with it for that price. read more

I was picking up some desserts nearby and realized I hadn't really eaten for the day so I decided to stop in here cause I was craving a burger. BOY AM I I GLAD I DID. I walked up and noticed they had a big sign saying the patio was dog friendly. I got so excited it was a very cute set up outside and I knew it was gonna be just as great when I walked in. The inside was almost eclectic but super fun! The menu was HUGE! Almost overwhelming due to fact I was so hungry I could not think. I couldn't even decide there was so many great decisions! I ended up getting the bullet work! I'm a sucker for jam on a burger. The lady up front was so friendly. We chatted and went back forth for a bit. So sweet. So personable. I got it to go. I shouldn't have cause that's not a burger to drive and eat with , let me tell ya ! SO FLAVORFUL, so yummy. I'd have to say one of my favorite burgers now. A little greasy, but that doesn't bother me. I like greasy things when it comes to burgers as long as it's not too much. For me it wasn't. Prices aren't cheap. And this isnt a fast food place. One of the best burger spots in town. The garlic fries are the best I've ever had. Nice and crispy while flavored with butter and garlic. The burgers are very big and filling. Took a friend here and wasn't disappointed. Their beef patties are smashed and I had great crisp on both sides. I did like the cooked onions but next time I'll just go with a classic. It could have used some salt but that's fine, they have the packets available. I got the onion rings and they were nice and crispy, will try the fries next time. The tables had a sports design with thick clear plastic covering it, perfect if you're dating a fatty and she splashes. Overall, this is a solid 4 out of 5 star burger place. read more

My had the Monsters of Madrid burger and I had the Red Card. Bothe burgers were delicious and fresh. You'll need some extra napkins because they are juicy! The regular fries were really great as well - Fresh, hot and crispy on the outside. I dropped one star because of the high price and my wife would give a 5 of it wasn't for the greasiness of her burger. Additionally the pastrami was burned which gave the burger a burnt flavor. She won't order that burger again but definitely wants to go back and try something else. I'd suggest they add a blue cheese burger to their menu but the rumor is that Matt doesn't like blue cheese. If you're craving a great burger that brings lots of comfort, definitely try Matty G's. read more

Second visit to Matty G's! We are in the midst of a kitchen renovation, so needless to say have some limited cooking space these days. We thought Matty G's would be a great option. They do have a lovely outdoor space that is dog friendly, so such a great space to meet with a group or enjoy a nice evening. Ironically, i was not craving a burger...my husband was, but they do have other offerings including hot dogs, some salads and a chicken tender option. I opted for their adult tender meal which came with four tenders and fries. Boring, I know, but I wasn't starving and it just sounded solid! I did ask if I was able to substitute the classic fries for sweet potato , which I was told absolutely not, I find this odd, I am happy to pay an upcharge if needed, but you offer multiple types of fries, it feels like a weird thing not to be willing to adjust. Our foot was brought our shortly and my tendies were so flat and sad. I would absolutely not recommend this meal to anyone nor get it again. I get it, they are a burger spot and they do dish out a solid burger, but I do feel solid tendies are not super hard to do or just remove them altogether. I would still recommend Matty G's to anyone looking for a casual bite. I find their prices a bit steep for this fast casual space, but the overall quality of their burgers seems great. The prices indicate a seating area with booths and ambiance, but it's just some tables and chairs. The dining area at Burger King is nicer and for 3 times the price I was just put off. Really craved a burger and have been on the lookout for great places in the east valley. This is a great Mesa gem. Very sports themed. We were greeted when we walked in. Super friendly staff and a massive menu. There is indoor and outdoor seating, with a bar in the back. I got the all- star and cheese fries. You can definitely taste the steak burger! The cheese reminders me of the cheese from a baseball game. The burgers are huge and very filling. The sunny side up egg on the triple crown burger was perfectly cooked. There are run of the mill burger joints, and then there's Matty G's. A cut above your average grilled burger. Matty G's uses ground steak to grill an amazing steak burger. My wife and I stopped in for lunch. After reviewing the menu, I decided on the "Intimidator." This burger is made with 2 quarter pound steak patties, grilled jalapeños, ghost pepper, and pepper jack cheeses, spicy ketchup, and chipotle-aioli This is on a toasted bun. I also ordered the garlic fries for an extra $3.50. My first bite was a wake-up call to my mouth. The smoky grilled steak flavor of the burger was prominent even though the spicy cheese and jalapeños added some heat. The chipotle-aioli gave this burger a creaminess that worked well with the spice. This burger might be too spicy for some, but it was well in my comfort zone. The garlic fries were crispy and not soggy. They were lightly salted and sprinkled with granulated garlic. They are delicious. The only problem was that they didn't offer ketchup. There were a lot of fries. After eating the whole burger, there wasn't enough room for even half of the fries. The price was reasonable. Order and pay at the front then you choose your own table. We got the all star which is a classic cheeseburger with a side of garlic fries. It was juicy and flavorful as a burger should be. The fries were perfectly fried, crispy, and garlicky. Highly recommend those. We also got the Byrd which was a fried chicken sandwich. Delicious! We were looking for a burger spot on our way home from the gym, and found this place via a quick Yelp search. So many burger choices -- we got the All Star and the March Madness. Really fresh, old fashioned smashed patties. We also got the popcorn chicken fries and the carne asada fries, which were both good (but not as good as the burgers). Also, the fries portions were big, and the burgers were two patties each... so we are taking home leftovers which we're excited to eat later lol.
