Found this place and was able to book a van right away, they picked us up at the airport, signed the contract and provided my license and insurance and was on my way! The van was nice, had cold air conditioning and was clean inside ! When I needed to return the car I met erdni at the lot and he took us back to the airport! Being only a week before our trip, options were obviously limited. Looking at the BEXT site, I saw a few available Jeeps that weren't exactly what I wanted, so I submitted an inquiry on the site. Seeing that it was mid-afternoon Hawaii time and late evening my time, Gaston from BEXT reached out via text. I sent him my requirements and he had creative options in front of me immediately. They had the perfect one-touch convertible Jeep available for every day except our arrival day. He offered to have a standard Jeep at the airport for us and then come all of the way to Kaanapali and swap for the convertible Jeep the next day. This was way above-and-beyond and we had an agreement immediately. The pickup experience was fantastic. Clear and timely communication via text with images and videos of where to pickup the Jeep and how to get the key. The vehicles were both spotless and amazing Jeeps. The one-touch convertible is the perfect fit for a Road to Hana trip. Very easy and quick to push a button and have the top back on when a random rain storm pops up. The kids thought the Jeep was one of the best part of the trip as we explored all Maui has to offer. We had a good experience renting a Jeep on Lanai from Jim. He kept good communication even prior to…read moreour arrival, as the island did have some storm damage. Thankfully when it was time for our day trip, all of the sites were fully accessible. We packed in a full day visiting Garden of the Gods, Shipwreck Beach, Lanai Cat Sanctuary, Hulopoe Bay and hiking the Pu'upehe Trail. We started with breakfast at Blue Ginger and later visited the 50s themed diner in the new bowling center for afternoon ice cream. The Jeep was quite new, very clean, with CarPlay, and everything was in good working order. I highly recommend downloading offline maps for navigating Lanai, as there is barely a bar of cell service, even in town. We never actually had to use 4WD for the Jeep, but the height clearance sure did help us on some of the rough dirt roads to some of the sites (places you'd never want to take a regular car). Jim gave us a thorough explanation and tips for visiting the sites when we arrived on the morning shuttle to pickup the Jeep (text the shuttle company ahead of time to reserve your spot at the ferry harbor). There was a laminated map inside the Jeep for us to take with us for the day. Process was smooth. Would rent from Cheap Jeeps again if visiting Lanai. Mahalo!

Our flight was delayed unril much later than when they close, but they had the car ready for us anyway. When it was time to drop it off we were running late to the airport and they had a procedure for that too. It worked out great, if they had not been so accommodating we would have missed our flight. This place is the definition of "you get what you paid for." Rented twice here got two different…read morecars. Each time, the car is year 2012 or older, worn-out, over 100k mileage, and NO spare tires. Is that not a safety hazard to let customers drive out of the lot with no spare tires? This place is affordable, but it is NOT reliable and safe. If you need a car for just a day will do. I won't rent it for work or vacation. If they skipped out of just putting a spare tire, imagine what else they are cutting out of. Who knows how regularly they do routine maintenance and inspection .

Had all the paperwork laid out. When I arrived.. photo copy of my drivers license. Gave us a map... and advised where to go... areas to avoid due to hunting. Best part... it's right next to the only gas station... Fueled up and returned the vehicle. If you are local.... they have a Kamaina Special! Overall a wonderful experience!

Please note that Lana'i Car Rental is not located at the Lana'i Airport, so you will have to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to take you to and from the offices in the center of Lana'i City. Lanai Taxi and Rabaca's Limousine Service are two great options for ground transportation. Kama'aina (local resident) discounts are also available. You can book on Lana'i Car Rental's website or call them between 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM local time. It's a bit of a learning curve and a patient process. Sometimes the staff may not always be able to get back to you immediately, so I would recommend you call and follow-up periodically to ensure that your reservation is actually confirmed. Now, when you are able to speak to someone, they will take down basic information, contact information and payment information, and then send you a confirmation e-mail. But overall, the staff is awesome and very helpful! As for the drop-off process, there is now a drop box for rental keys outside their office door or you can also knock on the door to return it to the staff. I plan on coming back to Lanai Car Rental when I am visiting next time!
