We found Maui kayak through a search and Maui Kayak Adv. had great reviews and it seemed to be on the side of the island we were on. Bonus... they are a B Corp. (look that up if you don't know) A company who gives back is super important and they are a small business, extra bonus. We had reservations for one day but the swells were a little "extra" so they called us to reschedule for another day. We had a little wiggle room and I appreciate that they cared about safety and even visibility in the water. Communication was super easy either via call or text and I was always updated on location of meet up. We were super lucky to have Heather as our guide. She was super nice and had great vibes and was super knowledgeable about the ocean life and geography around us. She took us to great spots and we saw tons of turtles amongst all of the other tropical fishes both shy and "brave" She even took amazing pictures for us of creatures up close by free diving and we got to download them later. Not just because we saw 4/5 whales, or that the weather was perfect, or that during our snorkel, we saw two turtles, countless fish (including a mahi mahi chasing flying fish) and a beautiful reef. All those are incredibly awesome! But I must admit, having Griff as our tour guide was really what put this trip over the top! He was outstanding in every way. He kept us engaged and provided his knowledge on whales, turtles, fish, all the islands, and the importance of being respectful to the Hawaiian land and culture. He was so genuine! I've been a loyal customer since 2012 and have always had positive experiences, but this particular tour was deeply troubling. When I visit Maui and book kayak snorkling excursions, I only book it with this company. Willy's Disrespectful Behavior: The tour began smoothly, but things quickly went awry when my husband started feeling motion sickness. He informed Willy that he wasn't feeling well and decided to return to shore. Willy asked if he was going to tow us back, referring to me and my daughter. My husband said "no..they can stay". After my husband left, Willy began mocking him with exaggerated voices, laughing at his discomfort with one of the guests. This made both my daughter and me feel very uncomfortable. Willy's Unusual Behavior: As the other guests moved on to the next snorkeling location, Willy became increasingly erratic. He threw his anchor into his kayak with unnecessary force and started letting out this loud, uncontrollable, exaggerated laugh. My daughter and I were left alone with Willy, and his behavior started to feel unsafe. Willy took my daughter's paddle away and started towing us without any request from me, and shortly after we started paddling toward the new snorkeling location, he unexpectedly turned the entire group around. He then complained that he had to turn the group around because of the extra effort of towing us. I told him it wasn't necessary to tow us, we can manage ourselves. I noticed we were heading back to the meet-up spot on shore and asked if he was taking us back. He confirmed that he was. At that point, it was clear that he no longer wanted us on his tour, and frankly, we felt unsafe, so I was okay with ending the tour early. Despite my repeated requests to paddle back on our own, Willy insisted on towing us, exaggerating his grunting noises as if the effort was overwhelming. I told him he didn't have to leave the other people and we can find our way back and I pointed at the building on shore to make sure that's where I should go. He claimed it would be impossible for me to paddle both of us back alone and blamed my daughter repeatedly, saying, "WE ARE IN A SITUATION...WE ARE IN A SITUATION!... BECAUSE OF YOUR DAUGHTER. SHE LOST HER PADDLE!" I explained that my daughter hadn't lost her paddle--he had taken it from her--and assured him that we could manage on our own if he simply returned it. Nevertheless, Willy continued towing us, making disturbing noises the entire way back. As we paddled back, I asked for his name. He turned around, smirked, and rudely responded with, "I don't recall," then ignored me when I asked again. His behavior was bizarre, unprofessional, and deeply unsettling. Willy's Lack of Care for Other Guests: When we returned to shore, I asked Willy for his name again in front of my husband, and he reluctantly provided it. I had to ask him 4 times before he told me! I asked why he had treated us so poorly and ended our tour early and he sarcastically said twice, "You should be out there with your man!" It was clear that my husband's early departure had upset him, and he was taking his frustration out on us. Willy was in such a hurry to leave that he quickly unlocked the shed for us to retrieve our belongings and told us to lock it up while walking away. And he left the keys to the shed with us! We locked it and left the key in the lock. He seemed more concerned with getting away from us than ensuring the safety of the remaining guests. From a distance, I saw that he had left the other three guests stranded in the middle of the sea. Voicing Concerns and Seeking Resolution: Recognizing the need to address the situation, I approached a staff member about filing a formal complaint. Tiara, a staff member in a golf cart, overheard and immediately approached with genuine concern. She quickly contacted Kayak Supervisor Tim, who came out to speak with me directly. Despite my frustration, both Tiara and Tim listened attentively and with respect. Tiara went above and beyond to resolve the issue, offering a refund as a fair solution. She explained that it was only right to refund customers who didn't receive the service they had paid for. Her professionalism, thoughtful response, and commitment to customer satisfaction were deeply appreciated. Tiara assured me that the situation would be taken seriously and addressed accordingly. Conclusion: My experience was disappointing and infuriating due to Willy's behavior, which was so absurd it felt like a scene from a movie. I've never been treated like this, and it was frustrating beyond words. I urge the company to take this seriously, as allowing bad behavior to continue will harm their reputation. I've seen another negative review specifically naming Willy, and I hope the company addresses it before it leads to further damage.

He left me yearning to know more of this magnificent place. Travis was at the helm, pointing out places that Paul was mentioning, and also his keen eyes spotted a whale on our journey. If you are staying at Four Seasons Maui, this is a must do. Make sure to make reservations, they go out at 7:00am, 8:00am, and 9:00am. We took the 9:00am, and we're grateful since the 7:00am was canceled due to the waves being too uncharacteristically choppy. We booked this trip for our mom whom is a good paddler but wanted to go with a group. There was no descriptions of cultural anything, they saw nothing. They barely left shore. At one point, I needed a little extra support getting safely back to my kayak, and Wes handled it calmly, professionally, and with such kindness that I felt completely taken care of. We were able to go to 3 different locations (Molokini crater, the reef in front of Molokini and a turtle cleaning station. We saw a ton of fish, a turtle or two, plus a cute little squid and three octopuses. Deckhands Kelly and Josh were outstanding! They were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. They definitely made our day! We would definitely book another trip with Seafire in the future. I wasn't sure what to expect since they don't have too many reviews.. but we still gave it a shot. Everyone had an AMAZING TIME!! Jason (the owner), is such a patient, kind, and just super chill guy. We arrived quite early since the kids were being inpatient and wanted to get in the water, so we decided to hang out on the beach near the meetup location. My kids began to explore and wanted to try to snorkel on their own with some masks we had purchased the day before. We settled down near a gentleman who we later realized was Jason. Before even realizing that we were part of his next tour, he was kind enough to help my kids and explained that the location they were trying to enter the water through was unsafe as the strong waves could cause them to injure themselves against the high coral. He guided them to a sand path which he explained was much safer. After some conversation, we both realized he was our tour guide! We immediately felt confident that it would be a great experience. Once the tour began, I just can't say enough about how patient Jason and his crew are. They explain everything very throughly and carefully. Jason let the group know that people who felt comfortable would be led out to deeper waters, but if anyone did not feel comfortable, they could stay in the more shallow waters with a guide. My kids decided to go out to deeper waters and saw turtles, fish, sea cucumbers, pencil urchins, and a lot of reef. Jason was super educational about marine life. He also did not have a time limit! I thought I read it wrong, but he confirmed in person that the tour was unlimited and we were free to snorkel until we decided we were done. Other companies I had looked into appeared to have a 2 hour limit. Jason goes above and beyond, and I would definitely recommend him! I was reading through the 1 star reviews because that's just what I do when it doesn't make sense, and I just can't really believe those reviews, especially since they appear to be fake accounts. The woman on the phone was so helpful and reassuring, she explained that they've taken people out who have never been in the ocean or even a pool. They also honored the Groupon price, so I booked over the phone. What an amazing experience with Jason (who is Gabriel's dad). He was patient, gentle, and full of so much information. He really put me and the rest of the group at ease. Luckily, the two other couples with us weren't swimmers either, so we were all on the same level. Jason brought up many sea creatures for us to hold, and we saw turtles and live coral. Since I don't swim, I never thought I could experience anything like this. It was truly magical, and I'll never forget my first time. The next time I'm in Maui, I will definitely book again.
