Before the tour--and again immediately before boarding--I specifically asked whether we should reschedule because of the ocean conditions. On both occasions, I was advised that conditions should not be a significant problem and that we should proceed. We relied on that guidance. I also never said I would leave a five-star review only if I received a refund. I explicitly stated that my review would remain two stars regardless of the refund decision--rather than one star--because I had two excellent prior trips and intended to describe both those experiences and this trip honestly. The offer I declined was a $50 gift card. I never offered to change or remove my review in exchange for compensation. Finally, my refund request is not based simply on weather, wildlife sightings, or personal preference. It is based on being advised twice to proceed, followed by shortened and canceled snorkeling, conditions that raised genuine safety concerns, and guests I personally observed being pushed onto the reef and appearing injured. I understand that weather cannot be controlled. We were the first boat out to the crater, so we got to snorkel before any of the crowds showed up, which was awesome. We stopped at several great spots, and every one of them was beautiful. This was my kids' first time snorkeling in the ocean (ages 12 and 10), and they absolutely loved it! They're already talking about where they want to snorkel next -- they're hooked now. For my Maui trip, I had booked two snorkel tours with two different companies. My experience with the first tour was honestly not that great (though it was due to my inexperience in water, and not the company's fault). Because of that, I really hesitated about going on the second tour - but I am so glad I did! The 5-hour tour with Maui Snorkel Charters was incredible! It was organized so efficiently by two wonderful women, Captain Jen and Sophia. While the four stops that we made were all magical, the visit to Turtle Town was my favorite by far. Being able to see the majestic turtles swim by was breathtaking and something that I will never forget. And what Maui Snorkel Charters does that is truly above and beyond is that they took photos of our adventures and shares them with us at no extra charge. As the photographer, Sophia truly captured amazing images of us while we were underwater with the fish and turtles (something that we probably could not have done as well ourselves, even if we had rented a GoPro). The boat was already in the water when we got there for our 6:30 AM checkin. we were the first boat at the crater and great to snorkel when not so crowded. Captain Alex and Captain Jenn were great. it was the smoothest zodiac trip we've ever experienced. and that was driving through 3-4 ft swells. we had amazing stops also at the drop zone, red hill and turtle town. lots of turtles and not crowded because we started before the other boats the crew including intern Anna were engaging, full of local knowledge and great sense of humors if you want a great snorkel adventure then look these guys up read more

We were so fortunate to find Maui Snorkel Charters on our fabulous snorkel trip to Molokini and Turtle Town! We were greeted by Jen who was so friendly and set the tone for the day as a fun, positive and incredible experience. I felt super comfortable with her and Doug in charge as I was bringing my older mom and little boy on their first snorkel. They LOVED it and I felt safe in the water with our guides who obviously have massive experience. The yellow safari boat turned out to be SO MUCH BETTER than the fancy catamaran we almost booked. These two (Doug and Jen) will make this so awesome and you will get pictures for free as a bonus. The local homemade banana bread and coffee was perfect. If you want a snorkel trip with only a handful of guests this is it. Thank you for making my son's first trip out in the ocean the best one ever. The absolute BEST snorkeling trip I have ever been on. We went on 11/18 with Captain Allison and I'm so sorry I cannot remember his name for the life of me, but they were INCREDIBLE. Right after we took off we saw the first humpback whales of the season. We then headed over to the crater to do some snorkeling where we saw a competition (group of 4-5 male humpbacks) which hung out near the crater while we snorkeled. Then we headed over to the back of the crater for the elevator, which is a part of the water where it can raise you up 15+ feet due to the wake. To end the snorkeling we headed over to a cleaning station, where tons of sea turtles hangout to get "cleaned" by the fish. We saw close to 10 different sea turtles hanging out. Lastly, on our way back to the boat ramp we saw a pod of dolphins and one of them had a baby! This was such a fantastic trip. On top of that the two captains were absolutely incredible. They were nice, attentive, informative, and funny. The charter included wet suit tops, all the gear, snacks, coffee, water, and reef safe sunscreen! read more

Wouldn't recommend for non-swimmers. Mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, Captain Jenn and the crew were very professional and the hospitality was on point. The boat wasn't overcrowded and the snacks were good. However, if you're a non-swimmer or a first-timer, be careful. I chose this tour because I heard they guide you through the snorkeling, but we felt pretty ignored once we were in the water. Most of the attention (and the photography) went to the confident swimmers. It's an expensive 5-hour trip to feel like an afterthought. It was a bit of a letdown since we were really looking forward to those memories. read more

The trip of a life time! The crew was very personable , so come expecting humor , sarcasm, and advice that will save your life! Being in the ocean can be dangerous if you don't listen to the captain. I came a little nervous of the ocean because I'm not the "best" swimmer but we both swam the whole crater and got lucky to swim the back side of it as well!! Just relax and enjoy! We also seen giant turtles and schools of fish! The worst part of this trip was braiding my hair , I came out with very knotted hair so my biggest advice is don't braid your hair! Wow. Just wow! Don't look anywhere else, definitely book the Molokini snorkel tour with Cary and Allison. You won't be disappointed. This was a bucket list item for me and it exceeded expectations! I loved the smaller boat and more personalized tour experience. Cary even spent extra time chasing whales at the beginning and end too. We ended up spending almost 5 hours out there and saw so many things--Humpback whales including a large competitive pod and mom and calf, Hawaiian Monk Seals, turtles and oh so many incredible fish!! They had all the gear you could need, including wet suits (no additional charge) which I didn't think I would need at all but it definitely helped. My only regret was not renting a GoPro from them too! I was grateful for their extra attention and assistance when needed too. They went above and beyond to make the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommend this company for snorkeling tour. We visited great locations where we saw an abundance of sea life including our favorite sea turtles (this was truly amazing experience). It was an amazing sight to see and they knew exactly where to take us for this adventure. However my most favorite spot is where they dropped us at the edge of the crater where there is a 300 ft drop to the bottom of the ocean (peaceful, eerily quiet, exciting. You look out ahead into the dark blue water and think you see clearly until a fish appears from nowhere swimming towards you - weird feeling) What to also note: the boat fits 18 people which was perfect. We did not have to wait on a lot of people to get in and out of the boat. It felt more customized and personal treatment; not just a number to get through the tour. We saw other large charters with so many people and looked so crowded. Our captains Jen and Alex were fantastic. Friendly and extremely fun. We were one of the first boats to go out to the locations so that we can avoid all the rush of people also jumping into the waters. This review is verbose ; but wanted to get the message across to find the right charter company for your visit. It's not every day one visits Maui. It was whale season, so we had the bonus of seeing at least 3 pods... one very close up with great fin action! Maui snorkeling crew was amazing, we booked the early morning 6:30 they had hot coffee and banana bread, sunscreen and equipment. We were the 1st boat to leave and the 1st to arrive. Capt. knew all the great spots and he just followed along with us. Hopped back on and went to the other side of Molikia where the divers go, again the 1st boat and absolutely amazing. Allison took such great care of us, took amazing photos and was great! They both encouraged my daughter to snorkel at every spot.
