Blackened fresh ahi with coconut rice and broccolini

We were pleasantly surprised at our dinner experience here at the Mauna Makai in the Nanea Westin Vacation Resort. The service was amazing and the open air ambience was very nice. We wanted a lighter meal so we ordered the blackened local ahi and the local style island fish which was a grilled swordfish with a citrus soy sauce. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious! We selected this restaurant since we did not feel like driving or taking the shuttle to Whalers Village and thought to try a restaurant within the Westin Resorts. This in my opinion is one of the better hotel options for dinner as we really enjoyed our meals and the ambience.

Outdoor dining area has ocean view, great atmosphere. Food is delicious and has reasonable size. Service great.

This is the best restaurant within the Westin Kaanapali properties. We had a great server and enjoyed everything we ordered. Two apps and two entrees, all delicious. Higher quality and better menu than the other restaurants which are all beach/poolside basic foods like wings, nachos, burgers, etc.

My wife and I had breakfast here, and it was excellent. She ordered the breakfast sandwich, which looked amazing, while I had the farmhouse omelet, cooked to perfection. The service was friendly but a bit slow, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're in a hurry. However, the view is beautiful, and since we had no set plans for the day, we didn't mind the wait. Overall, it was a great experience. The following morning, we waited an hour in line for the Gazebo, but aside from the scenic views, we found it underwhelming. While the portions were generous, the food itself was fairly standard diner fare. Surprisingly, we both enjoyed our breakfast at Nanea more. Having stayed at two other Westin resorts in Kaanapali, we can confidently say that the food and drinks here have been the best so far.

Currently opened for breakfast only between 7a-11am Choice of breakfast buffet $27 or a la carte menu. We canvassed the buffet and decided on a la carte. Hubby & daughter had the loco moco. I had the Hawaiian sweet bread French toast that was topped with fresh blueberries and strawberries. The restaurant is opened air. Great views of the resort looking out to the water. You can whale watch from your table. On our last morning we ate breakfast here again. Same menu choices except hubby had eggs with toast, potatoes, and bacon. This time I got lilikoi butter with my French toast as described versus cube butter previously. A convenient place to start off your day. Located at the Westin Nanea resort.

Note that this is a review for a New Year's Eve dinner with my family. I booked it last minute for our trip, and I didn't really expect much for a resort restaurant. But hey, it was right next door to where we were staying, and being able to walk "home" after a dinner with drinks is all we really wanted. Food was better than expected, service was friendly, and you'll probably have a nice view of the pool and the sea beyond it. My 12 year old was torn between ordering his usual lemodade or a virgin piña colada, so I suggested the latter, but unfortunately he didn't like it. Our server graciously replaced it with a mango smoothie, even though I was prepared to just pay for the second drink!

I ordered the Thai Coconut Curry with Marlin. The fresh, flaky marlin pairs beautifully with the creamy yellow coconut curry, creating a delightful balance of flavors. The dish is expertly prepared with jasmine rice and tender vegetables and just the right amount of spice. The ambiance of the restaurant further enhances the dining experience with a beautiful view of the pool and ocean. James was my server and was very polite, friendly and helpful. Great hospitality and great meal

Lovely atmosphere with beautiful views of the resort, beach and sunset! The menu is small but each item we got was absolutely delicious! Service was quick and friendly. :-)

The ambiance is laid back with the beach bar and grill. It has a beautiful view of the ocean with great sunsets. We usually eat in the dining room and one of my favorite meals was the Macadamia nut encrusted Opakapaka. Since Opakapaka is hard to come by these days, it is no longer on the menu. I want to take this occasion to write about the fantastic meal I had the other night. First, our server Michelle was really wonderful. She had a great sense of humor and made our dining experience all that more memorable. The daily fish special was Onaga and we had never had it. Michelle mentioned it's hard to come by and recommended it. The fish was amazing - very fresh, moist and very similar to Opakapaka. If you ever see if on the menu, get it. It will be a memorable experience. The fish was served on a bed of rice with a beurre blanc finish and fresh carrots. An amazing preparation. I would also recommend the Hula Pie for desert. It's big enough for two (or three)

The sun was setting which was actually a bit too bright from our vantage point. Service was fast despite being on Hawaii time. We ordered some interesting sounding drinks. They tasted great. The drink menu is diverse and I recommend a POG mimosa as it's very refreshing. Service is kind and you never feel rushed. I recommend making a reservation on OpenTable to secure a spot. Too often,…read morewhen customers leave a negative review, restaurants either don't respond at all or reply with a generic statement such as, "We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations. We'll discuss your experience with our staff." That was not the case with The Plantation House. They responded to my review and asked that I contact them to discuss my experience. Lucas reached out to me several times, and we were finally able to connect. Within a few minutes of our conversation, it was clear that he was genuinely concerned that the restaurant had not lived up to its standards or met my expectations. He apologized for my experience and refunded the cost of my meal. My goal was never to receive a free meal or any type of compensation. I simply wanted to share an honest account of my experience. This restaurant serves thousands of guests, and no operation is perfect. What impressed me most was that they took the time to personally reach out to an unsatisfied customer, listen without being defensive, and make things right. That level of customer service speaks to the integrity of The Plantation House and its commitment to ensuring every guest leaves satisfied. While my initial experience was disappointing, the way they handled the situation deserves recognition and has certainly changed my overall impression of the restaurant.

Very casual service. We ordered: Mahi Mahi Lemon Caper Sautée: 1/10 The fish just tasted extremely bland not fresh tough and the lemon sauce just made it wet but added in no flavor as well. Rice was mushy tasted overcooked Mac salad was decent but not the traditional Mac salad flavor. Kung Pao Chicken: 2/10 Small pieces of chicken mostly fried so very little chicken this dish had a good amount of flavor because it was sweet.
