Such exceptional service. I have reviewed Måurice several times before. It is an experience that is truly wonderful. I wanted to shoutout the amazing service staff. I wish I could remember the gentleman's name who took such good care of us. Service is somewhat of a lost art. Not at Måurice. Our server paired each of our 3 courses with a half glass of wine that complemented the food perfectly. Each course was incredible starting with scallops in the shell, to a blue fin tar tar and ending with a cheese course. Just incredible each and every time.

I dined here a long time ago (pre pandemic) and found it to be quaint with elegant dishes that's very French, meaning well done dishes but very minimal and small portions. I recently decided to check it out again and overall it was a pleasant lunch dining on a nice day eating at a sidewalk table. Felt very French. I had the roast duck with plums and their signature dessert of Meyer lemon pudding cake. The quality of the food was high, but I held back a star because of the high prices, which has always been the case and still is. The duck breast was nicely prepared, but the $28 plate came with just the sliced duck breast and maybe three slices of plum. For the price, I thought it would come with maybe a small side salad of frisee. The pudding cake had great lemon flavor but the cake itself was cold so you know it was in the refrigerator, and then the pudding sauce around it was warm. So it was a mix of feeling of whether it was supposed to be cold dessert or warm dessert. Still, this is a recognized institution in Portland's culinary scene, just expect to pay a pretty penny for your meal.

This is an excellent little restaurant. I had the duck egg quiche. It was light and very flavorful. I had a cup of tea with some honey. Very cute little restaurant. The owner works very hard. All the staff are wonderful friendly. I asked the owner if she knew Dominique Crenn. She owns a restaurant in San Francisco. https://www.ateliercrenn.com/ She's a three star Michelin chef. I highly recommend Maurice this restaurant it's quaint it's lovely. I think I was the only man there aside from the waiter and the dishwasher. Go check this restaurant out!!

My second visit - I have been dreaming of this experience for months and it did not disappoint! The interior exudes casual elegance. The team is professional, very friendly, and knowledgeable about pairings (more on that in a sec). The green salad was simple, yet so flavorful. Perfect dressing/greens ratio. The dark bread with baby shrimp salad topped with a kohlrabi carpaccio was delightful. A little French rose complemented it beautifully. Being a rhubarb fan, I could not resist the dessert. Pain Perdue with rhubarb and celery glacé. The ice cream was an inspired choice by the chef - clean palate cleanser. And the suggestion of the Sauternes by the wait team to accompany it? Utterly fantastic. Seek this place out. Actually, GO to Portland to have lunch here. It's that good. I'll be back.

It's been awhile since I've been blown away by a spot in PDX and Maurice is the most recent one! Contrary to their small door, the inside is open with clean colors and layout. You get transported away from the bustling downtown area to a serene dining space filled with delicious smell of freshly made French dishes and pastries. There are a handful of booth and bar seatings so do come early if you want to snag a prime spot. We got seated and professionally introduced to their complex but inviting menu which is seasonal and changes regularly. After much debate, in the end, we got the Snails, Scallops, and their Duck Special for our meal, as well as a bottle of Cotes Du Jura that they sell for retail but you can have it at the table with a little corkage fee. Let me tell you that that wine was soso worth it. It's bright and light, perfect as a day wine and paired amazingly with all of our dishes. The Snails dish came with many decently sized snails from the East Coast. Each cooked perfectly and covered in delicious buttery herby sauce with a side of fresh herbs around the plate to cut the fattiness. I love individually plugging each of the snails out, such a unique experience. The snails themselves were also very unique. Nothing quite like it, gotta try them out yourself to find out. The Scallops dish was also simple but full of novel flavors. The scallops were very fresh and cooked to the right doneness. The broth and vegetables on the plate created very unique flavors and complemented the scallops amazingly. Their Duck Special was our favorite dish of the meal, by far. Again, simple yet complex with distinctive flavor profile at the same time. The duck was succulent but not overly heavy. The kumquat added the perfect amount of sweetness while the persimmons and greens reinforce the savoriness of the dish. It's just so darn tasty! I would go back for this again and again. Of course, we got desserts. There were a few to choose from but we went with the Chocolate Cone Cake and the Pepper Cheesecake. Both were delicious. The chocolate cake was soft and very moist while the cheesecake was light but uber creamy with a buttery base. Delightful. Needless to say, we fell in love with the food here. The menu was intimidating at first because of its unfamiliarity but that also made it so fun to just jump in and try stuffs. The chefs striked the perfectly balance of simple, showcasing the fresh ingredients, and complex combinations of flavors in all of their dishes. Service and ambience were also 10/10. Definitely a spendier meal but we will certainly be back to try more!

Oh, mon dieu! I've found my soulmate restaurant. With a perfect blend of Scandinavian and French cuisine, the team at Maurice have something special for Portlanders to enjoy. Their limited hours, seating, and menu enhance this enticing environment, too. Overall, I am very impressed. From the moment you approach the space from the streetscape, you'll be curious of what hides behind the glazed windows that blur the experience. The quaint entry door is so cute, and anyone stepping into the interior immediately feels calm. Entering the restaurant reminded me of cold, foggy days along the northern European coastlines. Reservations are highly recommended since minimal or no seating will be available for walk-ins. Thankfully, we were lucky and seated at the bar where a great experience occurred. The team is very friendly, and will always be chatting with you. Our server was iconic, and I truly enjoyed our laughs, jokes, and conversations. I enjoyed learning about the history and intentions behind the concept, especially after learning Maurice has been established for ten years! We ordered several menu selections, and, I enjoyed the pâté the most. Desserts were lovely, and I almost ordered one of the special champagne glasses of the day. I wish I could have stayed longer, but, I wanted to ensure other people were able to dine here. I will be back! Maurice, you are AWESOME.

Cute aesthetic French spot! Lots of options for tea! Everything is nice enough to share but I thought the food was just okay for the price point. I definitely feel this place is an instagramable spot! The service was a bit slow however once we let our waitress know our friend had to be out a certain time they brought out the food faster but we didn't plan on being there for over 2 hours. Also 20% gratuity is already added

As someone who is not traditionally drawn to French cuisine, I was delighted by this little hole in the wall. It's easy to pass by this location with its fogged glass exterior but you are brought into a beautiful, bright little spot once you enter the door. My friend and I shared the rosemary biscuit (so ridiculously good!) then separately enjoyed their quiche (so light and fluffy!!!) in addition to their fish and dumpling soup. My friend also enjoyed their chicken pate greatly. Our server was quiet and unobtrusive, similar to wait staff you might find in a small cafe in France. Her coworker was less delicate in the small space and tended to run into my chair almost every time he passed by, which was a bummer as I was tucked in as close as I could be. Overall, if you are looking for a light, bright experience with French cuisine, this is your spot.

The food is great. Not many choices but each one is very good. I like the ipa to start with. It is from the local small brewery. The oyster is great with interesting sauce. The main entree is interesting combining both French and Thai cuisine. The service and atmospheres are great! Nice bistro! The price is very reasonable. Worth to come back

Such a lovely menu and quaint environment ! Let's start with the environment. There were only a few tables which created a more intimate setting. Perfect for a date or going out with girlfriends. All the small decorative touches gave delicate hints of a French cottage, even down to the gorgeous silverware. Having Megan share the story of select silverware and decor pieces added to the overall experience too! Now the food! Oh my gosh - it's been so long since I've had such exquisite flavors! Everything was paired so perfectly and the flavours were all so distinct and bright! Each being brought out differently when paired with the wine or tea list too. The attention to detail for all the pairings was lovely ! I do think it's worth noting that the portions were "small" by today's standards BUT they were perfect for the environment and experience. Definitely take time to note the delicate flavours in each bite. In the end we were very full so it was definitely plenty of food despite the smaller portion sizes. I hope my photos upload because I really don't think my words can do the overall food/environment/full experience the justice it deserves. We'll definitely be returning next time we're in the area.

After drooling over their Instagram, I knew I had to go. To my dismay I arrived at something that…read moredidn't look like it was a cafe or even opened. I wasn't even sure I was at the right place, thought they were still transitioning from one location to another. Until someone who shared the kitchen popped out. I was told that I should order online and come by for pick up, and was strongly urged to do so because these cheesecakes were really good. When I saw that they were doing a contactless store front, I knew I had to go. This was my opportunity to try it. I texted the owner to ask if the flavor I had my eye on was available. I was halfway there before the owner responded that they had one slice of pandan cheesecake left. There are multiple forms of payment with a card reader, and various apps to pay with online which made this a breeze. The owner Kiana, even popped to introduce herself which I thought was so nice! The flavors here aren't your typical strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter cheesecakes, even though she does offer some variation of them. There's pandan, ube, lemongrass, ginger mango, passionfruit, matcha, guava, pineapple raspberry, and I heard she even cooks up something with the pickle brine from the other business that operates in that kitchen. I thought this would be one of those situations where the food won't look like the picture. The pictures are obviously styled, they look stunning. Nope! The food looked just like what was on Instagram. I am a long time lover of cheesecake, dare I say it's my favorite of the cakes. The condensed milk ube mirror glaze was a lot thicker than I thought it would be and held its form. It wasn't runny and goopy. Loved that it wasn't a sticky mess. The crust was very very thick, I've always wanted more crust on other cheesecakes. On the description, it says it's "jasmine scented almond shortbread cookie crust" slightly saltier than most crusts I've had, but still very enjoyable. I've only had the traditional graham cracker crust and I'm afraid this almond shortbread crust has ruined all other cheesecake crusts for me. I have been disappointed at a lot of places using pandan, because the flavor just wasn't there, not Muse cheesecakes though. Pandan was present indeed. I would have loved if it was a little stronger, but I think that would have overpowered the cheesecake. Each component of the cheesecake are so different and complex on its own. They come together in delicious harmony to make this beautiful slice. I grew up with a lot of Vietnamese food and pandan has a very special place in my stomach.. heart! I've never seen jasmine used outside of tea and condensed milk outside of Vietnamese iced coffee. Kiana definitely has a way with these ingredients and she's a cheesecake goddess! I really can't wait to try the calamansi, Ube, and whatever else is getting cooked up in this delicious kitchen.

Durian cheesecake!!!! I am Vietnamese-Cambodian and durian is my jam. I love its pungent goodness in all forms -- pure and un-doctored straight from the prickly shell, ice cream, smoothie, topping on mashed avocado dessert and now.. CHEESECAKE! ohhh my goodness. My heart. I have returned so many times and buying extra slices (possibly buying out her supply for the week...) to share with my family and friends, who have all raved about the cheesecake from here. Durian isn't her only flavor though. She has so many creative flavors and I've noticed she's had comfort flavors from different cultures. To top it off, the owner, Kiana, is a wonderful lady. She is a one woman team and is kicking butt at her game from what I've gathered in the short time I've known her. She could be dead tired, but always has a smile on her face. I almost forgot to rave about her TARO BURGER on a vegan bun. I don't know how frequently she makes them, but if you see it being offered, do yourself a favor and get it. The portion is quite large so be prepared for leftovers. Unfortunately for me, my carnivorous sister gobbled the other portion of my burger right up and didn't even miss her meat. It comes with a vegan mac salad on the side. I am not one to enjoy mac salads usually, I think it's due to the mayo (not a mayo fan), but I actually liked this version. I forgot to take a picture of the burger before it all got inhaled. Sad face.

The cheese and crack sundae has toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and cinnamon cracker crumbs. Omg the cinnamon crumbs are so good, that with the ice cream was really yummy (I'm a simple girl what can I say). The chocolate hardened into a chocolate shell and it was kind of only on the bottom of the cup so that was a little disappointing. The toasted marshmallow didn't add much, but maybe I'm biased bc I don't rlly care for toasted marshmallow ‍ Overall, the entire sundae is mainly a ton of vanilla ice cream. It's a big portion that I shared with someone else. Second time I went, I got the banana pudding sundae which was soooo good. I shared this with my friend and it was plenty. They give a good amount of banana pudding and you can tell it's quality. I saw bananas, the bread/wafer part, and it pairs nicely with the ice cream. Prob my favorite thing from this place. My other friend got the pbo which was also good. They layer oreo and peanut butter pudding so you get it all throughout the sundae which is nice. She also got an everything cookie which has literally everything in it. It was texturally interesting and not too sweet! Overall, good flavors and quality ice cream. The portions are a bit big and I wish they had half or even quarter sizes since these came in huge cups. At a certain point, the vanilla ice cream becomes flavorless bc there's so much of it but the sundaes were still pretty good!
