So stupid. So sophomoric. So amateur. So low budget. So what? My wife's company holiday party was a huge hit thanks to this small and charming theater's production of Santa Conquers the Martians. The theater seated about 70 and was super intimate with the use of the main stage, opposing wall and the seating floor. Audience members were a small part of the show and it was campy as hell. So much fun and a real treat.

Intimate venue. Fun crowd

It's a quaint little venue. Really tucked away so use GPS or give yourself time to find it. It's pretty plain outside. But I love the art deco style of the interior. We separately agreed the art and decor invoked thoughts of Victor Victoria. (If you haven't seen that movie couldn't recommended it more.) Everyone was nice and seemed to be enjoying themselves. The bathrooms were clean. The prices at the little bar were reasonable. We caught the closing night of Rocky Horror (the play) and it was amazing. Such a fun raucous show. The cast was incredible. Of course Franken-furter is the best role but even our narrator was in rare form. I can't wait to see another show here!

A must see show to start up that Halloween spirit! Maverick theater gives you that retro feeling as soon as you enter the building. Enjoy some beverages in the waiting area along with some great tunes before the show. But don't run away yet! stick around for some everlasting memories with the undead before and after the show if you dare take a chance... If you survive being entertained by a gang of bloody gouls, you will risk the idea of wanting to go back every year. Make sure to scout areas for parking on time or you will miss some crazy fun.

Watching the show Clue was amazing! Love theater is great to get back at. They ask for your COVID Caed as well as masks. The show is hilarious and I will leave you with an itch to figure out some clues ‍

Another great theater company outside the "Hollywooddddd" eco system...Maverick Theater is a small intimate theater in Fullerton CA , staging creative fun "pop culture" theater....By chance discovered their presentation of a camp comedy stage production of Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outer Space"....So fun....so creative...I'll definitely be back for future productions...Enjoy the abundance of great restaurant options in Fullerton & afterwards take in a great theatrical show for the price of a movie ticket....

The Maverick Theater is a fantastic little theater in Downtown Fullerton. The Theater sits back on Walnut Ave and is not the easiest to find but is well worth the search to find it. I went here after reading numerous positive reviews for the Night of the Living Dead show they put on around this time of year. I ordered tickets online and was offered a deal to add Plan 9 From Outer Space for only $10 more. Yes, please. Both shows were great as were all of the performers. The staff was great and very helpful. As I had never attended a show here in the past I was confused as to the parking situation but they quickly answered that parking was free anywhere on the street outside. I went to the will call and was able to quickly and efficiently claim by tickets for both shows by simply giving my last name. It was nice to see a place so organized and orderly in getting people their tickets and into the adjacent waiting room. The theater is organized very nicely with a small entrance and will call window right inside. Through the curtain is a waiting room which doubles as a second performance stage. A men and women's restroom is conveniently located on the wall within the waiting room. The entire theater cant hold more than 50-60 people per show which is nice and gives you that intimate feeling when watching. The lighting and decor is nice and they also feature a bar for anyone who needs drinks. The show prices are great as well with performances around $20 and often offering discounts on double feature shows as I took advantage of. All of the cast members did a great job and many of them pulled double duty on the night I went which is a testament of their abilities in their craft. I highly recommend checking out shows here and I will definitely be back soon. Santa Claus Conquers The Martians sounds fantastically funny and I hope to catch that show soon.

After the show...don't dream it; BE it!

Been coming to the improv shmimprov and it's been absolutely great. Not pricey for what you get, and sometimes you can get in for free.

Between the innovative shows and the the late night fare of Improv Shmimprov, The Maverick Theater is a great way to spend an evening.

With doors opening about an hour before the concert, the GA line tends to be longer than expected, and most of the venue is standing-room-only unless you opt for "premium" price for seats. Even so, the "standing only" crowd is usually respectful, and despite the tight space, the atmosphere stays fun. But, for short folks like myself, can be a major disadvantage as crowds beginning to move toward the front and blocking the view. From a concert going perspective, wear comfortable shoes is best as you're standing through the two+ hours. The ventilation is okay so you could get warm fairly quickly. Plus, there's four bar stations throughout the venue so there's no shortage of drinks for purchase (snacks are available, too). Overall, I like that the parking garage is attached to the HOB along with many other shops. HOB representatives also offered discounts parking -- so you pay $8 for unlimited parking (rather than $4/hour).

From the parking lot it was easy to follow the signs along to the garden. The garden had areas that represented Woodlands, Mediterranean, Dessert, and a Cultivated Collection. There were walking paths but I still recommend closed toed shoes since it's a bit sandy. They had many benches throughout for resting or handing out and admiring nature. We spent about an hour here, but to be fair I'm not that into nature. I GOT A BUG BITE and it swelled and was super itchy. Sigh. I think someone who super loved nature or wanted to take their time to hang out could take 2-3 admiring all the plant life. My FAVORITE moments here was when we came across wildlife. My favorite were the rabbit, turtle, and crane. It's beautiful. Great spot to get some steps in and absorb some sunlight.

We have also been there for seated dinner style events with Chef's and it has been amazing as well. Last night my Mom and I attended the 40th anniversary screening of the movie Clue and it was amazing! There were rows of seats and I felt we had a good amount of leg room and the seats were not the most comfortable but they worked well for the amount of time we were seated. It was so much fun, the audience was involved and we had a Q&A beforehand which was neat to learn some background of the movie. The venue has plenty of seating out in the happy hour area where you can grab a drink and snacks. Prices were reasonable, popcorn, pretzels, movie snacks, as well as more sufficient foods like pizza, flatbreads, and burgers. Parking is fairly easy in and out. We were coming in just as Angel Stadium was getting out (and it was packed Angel's vs. Dodgers) but entry was still seemless. Great venue, awesome people, and an overall amazing event last night!!!

Check to make sure you have that option too because it was a quicker process. SECURITY I felt secure here. There is a size limit on bags/purses so be sure to follow the instructions. I used a mini clear bag to hold my phone and wallet. VENUE, SEATING & SOUND SYSTEM I liked the size of this venue. It was smaller so anywhere you sit is a good view. The seats were cushioned chairs held together by zip ties. And while the seating map appeared to be in sections, it is all on one floor with an incline. As a musician, I was really bothered by the sound system. I'm not sure if it's an in-house sound tech but they really didn't balance the instruments and singer's volume. Perhaps a more thorough sound check was needed IMO. FOOD, DRINKS & MERCH They sold food and drinks at the venue. What I saw people eating here were popcorn. Since I got to the venue early, I walked across the street to get something to eat. Across the street there are casual dining options like Panda Express, Carl's Jr, and Chipotle to name a few. I chose the latter. I picked up some merch before the show started to avoid any rush after the concert. I'm not sure what pay methods they take but I used my card and it was a quicker process transaction. RESTROOMS The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. I made sure to use the women's restroom before the show started and I'm glad I did because there was a long line after the show ended. Overall, the Grove of Anaheim is a smaller venue on a single floor plan with high ceilings, could-be-better sound system, cushioned chairs, and great lighting. I don't mind returning to watch another show here. It was very enjoyable.
