I waited in the area for a short period, the entire time Colette made sure I knew what was happening with my car, and some things to be advised of moving forward. had a very disappointing experience at this tire shop. The employee I dealt with was rude, unprofessional, and made me feel unwelcome from the moment I walked in. During our interaction, he made comments that I perceived as racist because of my Asian background, which made me feel disrespected and uncomfortable. Every customer deserves to be treated with courtesy and respect, regardless of their race or ethnicity. I called yesterday to make an appointment to have four new tires today. I said I'd bring the car in at 10:30 AM. I brought the car in. They said it would be ready in two hours. After two hours I came to pick my car up and they told me they had to go get another tire because they only had three in stock. Why didn't you tell me that when I dropped the car off this morning? I came back at 2 o'clock to pick up my car and they still hadn't worked on it. When they started working on it after 2 PM, they realized there was no lug nut key to get the tires off. So here it was four hours later and nothing had been done to my car. I got in my car and went to the dealership where I purchased my car a couple of years ago and they gave me a lug nut key and I was on my way again to Mavis. So here I am, 3:15 PM and still waiting for four tires to be put on my car. What a waste of time! Zero to little communication from the staff that works here. I will never, ever purchase any tires from here in the future. With any luck, I'll be out of here by 4:30. Six hours after bringing my car in for a maximum two hour job. read more

This place is and has been a great experience for at least the last 5 years that we have been coming here. I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about but we have been here several times over the last 5 plus years and every single time they have delivered as promised. My very first visit, my tire was dangerously low on air all of the sudden and without much warning. Mavis was not far from where we were and we pulled in. They checked it out almost immediately and diagnosed the problem as something that could be fixed with a simple plug and plugged it for no charge! Service like that has been very rare in my experience especially when it comes to auto repair. Every single time we have had a problem since then with all of our vehicles we have gone there and left feeling very good about the experience. Generally we get in and out very quickly in emergency walk in experiences but have had to wait a bit longer than expected for appointments. That is probably because they help the emergency walk-ins right away in most cases and I'm ok with that having been on both sides of the situation. They have taken care of us many times since we moved to the Cumming area. I wish I had asked for names today but they took such great care of my daughter's vehicle once again going above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend this business. read more

Wife had nail in tire late Sunday afternoon (4:30). Took it to this place in Cumming. Guy at first said he was backed up - understandable - but would take a look at it. Oops, only 4/32 of tread left. Mavis rules say must 5/32! Pumps the tire up and sends her on her way. I look at tires. Michelin Pilots. Wear indicators indicators show more than 1/16 available on tread, worn evenly on all tires. Probably 5 thousand more miles on tires. (they have about 35,000) on them. I go further with the penny test. Abe's head is buried in the tread. Stay away from Mavis. Our experience with them has not been good. read more

Tried a complete scam on me for sure and exhibited exactly why auto mechanics have such a bad reputation. Wanted to charge almost $2K for what was $400 in repairs needed. I have a 2013 Lexus. ~July 15 2024 my car broke down and had to be towed to Lexus dealer in Duluth. Car was there 4 days...busy and I had new loaner so no rush. The issue was my battery and key fob but since it's the first time there they also do a complete inspection and give you the report of ALL the things they think you (must, should, may) want to do with your car. One of the items is that my front brakes need to be resurfaced. I wasn't familiar with this and Lexus tech explained it's more or less sanding them down and gets more life from brake. Less expensive than replacing. I wasn't surprised at this because I could hear the grinding. I inquired with the Lexus tech multiple times "so the back are fine?" "Yes". "I don't need to replace front just refinish?" "Yes". So ONE week later, July 27, I make an appt at Mavis. I figure they might be less than dealer for this and they are just around the corner. Made an appt and, like others have said here that's useless. Appt was at 1:30 and 2 hrs later I called from across the street and they hadn't even looked at it yet. When I left it I told the intake person that I could hear grinding in front and that it was at the dealer the week before and they said front needs resurfacing, not back. (I see on estimate that intake person just wrote "***KNOW HE NEEDS FRONT AND HAS SOME NOISE ***". That's obviously code there for "We have a mark!" It also asks the tech to "verify battery life". I said zero about battery! When they call me at 4ish to run down what's needed they said: Replace front brake and rotor - $475 Replace rear brake and rotor - $475 Replace front struts - $425 Replace rear struts - $325 Alignment - $100 Battery - $70 or $100 (If you read above you will see I got a new battery the week before at the dealer) New Wipers - $30 (Oh when it was at the dealer week before I also got brand new wipers!) Total - $1900 TOTAL BS! I thought they had the wrong estimate. After a little back and forth I of course said do not do anything. The next week I went back to Lexus dealer and they resurfaced JUST front brakes $375. When I picked up I asked again about back, they said those are fine. I thought about reporting this location to BBB or GA AG Consumer Protection Division. I still have the estimate right in front of me from Mavis. read more

Visited this location on April 17th, 2024. I got an alert on my car that my LEFT rear tire was low. This particular tire had already been plugged twice so I decided to go ahead and take it in to be changed. A larger, taller white male who I presume to be the manager walked outside with me to inspect the tire and confirmed I only wanted the LEFT rear tire changed. I was quoted a wait time of 2 and a half hours, which ended up being over 4 hours amd I was there past closing time. Imagine my surprise when that same exact tire that was supposed to be changed goes completely flat a little over one month later. Upon inspection, we notice there is a plug in this supposed new tire. We take the car back into this location and the manager Lisa- if you use the term manager loosely- informs us that they actually changed the RIGHT rear tire and there is nothing they will do to rectify the situation other than me paying for ANOTHER new tire, when they changed the wrong tire in the forst place. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my right rear. Again, the whole point of me going there was that my LEFT tire had been plugged twice and was low again. They refused to do anything to resolve their mistake. Disgusting and disturbing lack of customer service. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! read more

Then was told price that was quoted did not include all the taxes and valve stems and wheel weight prices. The Mavis location on Marketplace Blvd in Cumming, GA is absolutely the WORST! I was a loyal and highly satisfied Kaufmann customer for decades at another location near my office, but when my office moved, we began using the Kaufmann-Mavis location in Cumming. But: About 3 years ago, I needed a simple repair on a tire on my wife's car. I made an appointment at this location, I showed up on time and was told that they'd work the car in as soon as possible. OK, I understand being busy.....but a full 8 hours later, they hadn't touched the car and the counter guy tells me that they're still super busy and I should take the car to one of his friend's shade tree tire 'businesses' at his house in Cumming. Say what.....that's not going to happen.....and that 'recommendation' can't possibly be in agreement with Mavis corporate policies. So I left and took the car to Discount Tire 1/10 mile away and they had the tire repaired in 30 minutes, service with a smile, no charge. Hmmm. About 2 years ago, I needed to replace the tires on a pickup we'd just purchased. I was trying to remain loyal to Kaufmann-Mavis, so I purchased a set of 4 Michelin light truck tires from this Mavis location.....these are very expensive tires. I also purchased the lifetime balance and rotation as well as a road hazard warranty. I arrived at the agreed time for the tires to be installed and I sat around for 9 hours waiting, waiting, waiting. As the store was closing, the counter guy apologized for the wait and asked me to return the following day.....which I did, again showing up as they opened. The next day, he says they're super busy (although there were no other customers in the waiting room, no cars on the racks).....but in reality, none of the techs had shown up for work. One of them finally came in around 2:00 and I finally had a set of new tires around 6:00. After waiting for 2 solid days for a set of tires (in stock, on the shelf), I was one very unhappy camper. Earlier this year, I needed to take advantage of the lifetime rotate and balance that I'd paid for, so I made an appointment, showed up on time.....then I waited 4 hours for the work to be done. But while the pickup was on the rack, they called me back to the service bay to try to upsell me on a brake job.....the estimate was $ 1,500.....aw, come on guys. I declined the estimate and I vowed to never come back. But last night, I noticed a nail in a tire on the pickup. Dangit.....but since it was near the edge of the repairable area, I made an appointment online for 9:00 for a tire repair this morning. If necessary, I might have to exercise the road hazard warranty that I'd purchased if the tire couldn't be repaired. So I showed up on time, said I had an appointment for a tire repair.....and the counter guy told me with a straight face that 'we're not repairing tires at this time.' Seriously.....a tire store that can't repair a nail in a tire? I was sure I'd misunderstood him, so I confirmed it with him and he told me again that 'we're not repairing tires at this time.' I was dumbfounded. I'd made an appointment online specifically for a tire repair at this location (where I purchased the tires).....and they're not 'repairing tires at this time.' As I left, I drove 1/10 mile to Discount Tire, had the tire replaced (non-repairable).....service with a smile, in and out in 30 min. Bottom line: This location should be CLOSED by Mavis corporate. This store's management is completely clueless as to how to conduct business and they have no clue how to provide customer service. YES, I'm outraged.....and NO, I will NEVER spend another minute or another penny at this Mavis location. And I'll be telling all my friends about my Mavis experience! read more

Last week, I went in to get four tires replaced on my car. Yesterday, I spoke to two different people at Mavis, and they both told me my price for these tires would be $349. They told me this price was "All In", plus tax. When I arrived this morning to drop off my car, the person at the desk told me he couldn't believe that I got that price, and then told me that I needed to add valve stems and a disposal fee. What part of "All In" are they not understanding? Once he put in his fees on top of the "All In"price, it ended up being $100 more, which was more than two other tire stores had quoted me. Talk about a bait and switch! I guess they thought, since I was already there, that I would go ahead and do it anyway. I would rather spend more money with somebody who is honest with me than save a few bucks with somebody who is a liar.Mavis lost my business for good. I went to Tires Plus, and they followed through on everything they told me. It's amazing how keeping your word makes all the difference. read more

My son had an appointment at 2pm for an oil change and tire rotation. He was there for almost 3 hours and they told him they couldn't rotate his tires because of their condition. He left after waiting that long with just an oil change. Woke up the next morning to oil all over the driveway under his car. My husband called them this morning about the issue and his call was disconnected. Terrible customer service. Terrible experience. Never going back. read more

When I arrived at the agreed to time on Thursday I was turned away and informed that I needed an appointment. I was quite shocked as I had made an appointment and taken off from work to have this work done that was a potentially safety issue. I recommend their competition down the street. I had a very pleasant and professional experience with their competitor. If your time is valuable I wouldn't make an appointment that apparently disappeared into thin air. read more

They are amazing with diagnosing a problem and even bringing you to your car to show you the problems! Second time here, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment! Ordered tires 10.18.2021 was told they would arrive 10.22.2021. Made an appointment for 10:30am. Car dropped off before 10am. I asked how long, was told an hour to 90 minutes. Fast forward, it's now 12:20, my car isn't ready! #SHOCKER!! When I inquire about how long it will be, I'm told another hour! REALLY?? Why make/take appointments if you can't fulfill them? My car was here for 3 hours! If the original tires had still be on the car, I would have left! It's apparent that you don't value your customers. No apology or anything! If you value your hard earned money and/or time, go ANYWHERE else! These don't give a darn about you or your time, just your money! Where to begin? Brought car in for a knocking noise. Was told that it was struts. Was asked to pick car up because the parts needed to be ordered. An appointment was made for the following week to have repairs done. Fast forward to following week. Car dropped off and repairs supposedly made. Pick the car up the next day, car is making more noise than before. We're told that the parts were defective and new parts needed to be ordered from the dealership. Another appointment needs to be made. Three weeks later, car still making noise and leaking. After several calls to Robert (General Manager) and Angel Rodriguez (Market Manager) I'm told I would get a refund. That's turns into another situation as I'm told that it must be mailed and not done at the location. Lie after lie after lie! Three weeks later I still have a noisy car, out of $600! Now the car is at the dealership and Mavis won't provide documentation that the parts came from the dealership. Crooked from the top to the bottom! Never ever use these crooks. Buyers Beware- Mavis Tire's- Cumming Marketplace is not reputable- My son's car had a flat tire so we took it to this Mavis. We purchased two high-performance tires and paid for an alignment (as we were told the reason for the flat was the alignment/camber was off) Paid over $750 for the service. ~ 6 wks. later, the same front tire went flat (down to the radial) and they refused to file warranty for it, held the car until we paid for it and tried to blame driver behavior. NOTE: Subsequent tire vendor and mechanic have confirmed that the alignment wasn't done correctly. I will be escalating the over $1K total bill through their corporate offices and have filed a complaint with the GA Consumer products division as well. Customers deserve better! Save yourself time and headache and steer clear of this place! read more

After going to this shop for 10 years, I no longer will go there ever again. I replaced all brake pads and rotors last May. The brake pads have a lifetime warranty. After driving the car only 15,800 miles and just over a year later, my brakes started squeaking. I took the car into Mavis since it had just been about a year and I knew the brake pads were under warranty. They called and advised the pads were approximately 90% worn and recommended replacing the rotors. They said the brake pads were under warranty but that it would cost $650 for the rotors and labor! I told them that did not sound right since we replaced all of those parts last May and the car had been driven less than 16,000 miles. A supervisor called and said they just recommend keeping everything new and would lower the charge to $249 per axle= $500 total to replace the rotors. I advised that a competitor just down the road only charges $300 for rotors. I asked why brake pads and rotors so new needed replacing already.?? He could not answer. I told him to just replace the pads since they are under warranty. He said that would cost $300 in labor. I again questioned why is it that the lifetime warranty brake pads have only been driven 15,800 miles and yet they already need replacing and he is charging me $300!?? He then said that he would just charge me $75 per axle for the labor for $150. Needless to say I paid the $150 and will NEVER go back to them again. They tried to sell me rotors that did not need replacing at an exaggerated price. I wonder if they even put new brake pads on the car last May. I hate to think of all the business I have given them these last 10 years and how much they have likely taken advantage! read more

I have purchased several sets of tires here, before Mavis acquired. I had one good experience with them shortly after Mavix acquired. Last week, we set an appointment to have a new set of tires put on. I was told to arrive for an 8AM appointment. at 9:30am one of two tire specialists arrived. The second at 9:45am. I was there until noon, until the job was completed and I have no confidence that it was completed correctly. The quoted price was changed and I saw no less than six other customers run off during my visit. The location is not managed, poorly staffed and should be closed. Run for the hills and do not visit this location. I received a phone call from the region manager. He promised to make it right. Never heard back from him since. read more

I would NOT recommend Mavis tire and brakes in Cumming, Ga to anyone. They cannot be trusted to give competent diagnostics on something as simple as a battery. After an oil change and a request for a battery check (due to slow starts), I was given the "all clear, thumbs up". I proceeded on a 6 hr drive. Occurred on October 2, 2020. As the problem persisted I was forced to purchase a full auto diagnostic test, only to determine I needed a new battery. Upon returning to the Cumming store I was told "the diagnostic tools used was not equipped to determine any detailed level of life, only that it showed as "good" and if I needed details I should've taken to a dealership". I would not trust this Cumming store to do any future work on my vehicle. read more

Oh my god where to start. I will not bring up all the past issues with this company and other locations. RUN ... RUN...RUN...AWAY I went to have my tires rotate and spin balanced. First was not happy as Discount Tire, Costco will do lifetime when you pay the same fee. Here 49.95 each time. The store manager came out and said I need new tires. What I just bought these almost a year ago. Said wrong tires for the car. Too cheap and too soft. Why did they sell them to me? He said I order on line. Yes, using their web site. But if that was the case why did they put them on. Well all those people and mangers are now gone. Seems according to him bad people. Said they will separate, unsafe, so will not rotate or balance. WHAT! They want another 650-700 to fix this issue with new tires. RIPOFF!!!!!!! While I am there waiting before I got this news another customer left telling me going out the door what a ripoff company and they did him dirty blaming old management. Another customer comes in while I am waiting to get my car with no rotation, no balance, and has issues and gets the same story that those promises were from old management. Another pissed off customer. I here him tell the customer he is the store manager, but also the regional manger as he wants to complain. They are now out side and he is a picture of the manager yelling at the customer. I spoke to the customer for a minute while I was on the phone with the Mavis corporate office. He said he was going to post on every web site his one star and said lies and just wanting to upsell. Corporate lady said he needs to call in him self. I could go and tell you a another store (Mall of GA) where I got the tires I had to go back 5 times for a TPMS sensor in 30 days. Did not know how to program, machine was dead. UPDATE..I had posted a very poor review a few weeks ago on 7/3/23 about Mavis not respecting appointment times at their Cumming store where I was told I'd have to wait over 2 1/2 hrs for a rotation even though I had called them to confirm my appt and short wait time 30 min before arrival to the store, all resulting in me walking out and wasting my time. Here's an update: I got a response to the review quickly from Mavis HQ apologizing and asking me to call their Customer Solution Dept to learn more about the incident. I called the number provided but nobody answered and was sent to voicemail (I figured they must be very busy!). So I left a message to call me back...and never got a call back! Fooled me twice. Obviously their poor culture originates at the top. I had always bought my tires at Kauffman before Mavis acquired them, then once right after it became Mavis, but never again. read more

Steve and the team here are competent, courteous and pleasant to deal with. Minimal 'tire store' behavior to always find something wrong that you need to fix. My wife feels comfortable there - a huge plus for a tire store. Very competitive and flexible on price. They have never done me wrong - 5 car family 2019 UPDATE- so sad... Kaufman sold to New York based Mavis tire. These new guys are nothing but tire store shisters you cannot trust. Bought and had tires repaired here. New tires have been very good and decent price. I also picked up a nail some months later and the repair was good at a fair price. My negative is in both cases the wool took a long time so don't be in a hurry. I had an appointment for the tires. They called and said they were swamped and could I come another day which I agreed. I came later in the week at the agreed time but still took over 3 hours while I waited. Discount Tire typically takes about 45 min with appointment. Tire repair took about 3 hours but I was a walk it and understand I have to wait my turn. Work in both cases was performed to my satisfaction. read more
