My husband and I have hired Maxson for over two years. So far, we have had Maxson install a new Trane furnace and new Ecobee thermostat for us, as well as seasonal check up/tune ups on both our first floor and second floor furnace/AC units. Always professional, Steve Maxson, the owner as well as one of his expert technicians, Alex, treat our issues and home as if it's their own. NOW---fast forward to TODAY, August 10, 2021. The heat index in my area is over 100 and the temperatures are around 90. Our upstairs AC went out last week. We called for service. Rather than cancel (bc of these weather conditions) Maxson sends one of their very best to us--Scotty. He's on time. Scotty is absolutely professional from the get-go and, just as he had exhibited before on other jobs (that he's done solo or with Alex) at our house--he diagnosed what was wrong with great expertise. Now keep in mind, our furnace that runs our broken upstairs AC is in an attic. Scotty goes up and down, up and down, many many times to diagnose and fix our broken AC. HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT TO DO. HE IS ABSOLUTELY EXPERT at his work. And??!! It's 100 plus heat and this expert smiles the entire time, answers our bajillion questions (as he's done in the past) and FIXES THE AC in record time. He articulated exactly what was wrong, including but not limited to how another company has installed a chip backwards AND how our refrigerant levels including pressure was too great. This is not good for AC units, as it can eventually harm the compressor while also impeding upon an AC unit from cooling well. Did I know this before? Heck, no. I learned it from Scotty today. He explained exactly what was wrong and ensure we understood what he did and what the charge was for today. Speaking of...the charge was very reasonable: $178. On. One. Of. The. Hottest. Days. Of. 2021. We cannot thank Scotty enough. He's a pro and extremely patient and professional. And so are his colleagues and the owner of Maxson. I called Maxson for a second opinion after another company told me I needed to replace my thermostat only to then say I needed to replace my whole A/C unit literally 10 minutes after paying over $300 for the thermostat which was supposed to be the problem. It sounded fishy and my gut told me to get a second opinion. Steve from Maxson was at my door within a short time of calling and diagnosed the real problem and made sure I saw what he was talking about and explained everything to me in laymen terms so I understood. The thermostat was not the issue and I didn't have to replace the outside unit at all. He scheduled to complete the repair right away and recharged my air conditioner in the meantime so we would have air. Steve from Maxson Heating and Air conditioning came out to do a routine cleaning on my furnace. After about 10 minutes into the cleaning and inspection he found a potentially dangerous problem knowing that I had home owners insurance on the equipment he shut off the furnace and took pictures of the problem along with giving me instructions on were to look to find it. The 1st technician from said he could not find the problem after coming out twice and after talking to Steve he offered to come out and show the technician from the insurance company were the problem was but that technician refused the offer. Steve did come out again and took more pictures of the problem and a second technician from the Insurance company did find the problem in about 30 minutes and my furnace was replaced. I don't know where to start except the beginning as far as my experience with Maxson Heating & Cooling. They came highly recommended from a friend of mine and I couldn't be happier! The owner Steve himself came to my house and inspected our 2 heating systems and humidifiers. 1 was working ok, but the other not. After giving me the option of repairing the broken one, which would probably only last a couple more years, his price for replacing both of them was a better decision. He answered all of my questions in a nice and thorough manner and seemed genuinely interested in making sure that I was comfortable with everything. A couple of his workers installed the units the following week and they have worked perfectly since installation which was about 4 months ago. On the evening of May 29, the fan motor inside of the furnace squirrel cage started making a lot of noise and stopped running. We shut the unit off immediately. The next morning, we contacted Maxson Heating and Air Conditioning and within an hour Steve was at our home. He removed the cage from the furnace and determined that the fan motor had failed. He urgently purchased a new motor and within a short amount of time had it installed and working perfectly. The outdoor temperature was 88 degrees and the indoor temperature remained cool. Steve is an absolute professional. Unlike so many in his field, he is EXTREMELY responsive to customer questions and concerns. I brought him in to clean up a hatchet job another group did in installing my AC unit. He was diligent in researching and diagnosing the problem - he wanted to make sure he addressed the correct issue and didn't waste both our time and my money. He is so good, I am even having him come back to check someone else's work (I have to use them for this portion of the job since their labor warranty only covers them fixing the job). I want to give a HUGE SHOUT-OUT to MAXSON AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING for squeezing me in and fixing my furnace TODAY. Steve came out and installed a new air conditioner unit. He was very thorough, even fixing mistakes that the previous installer of the furnace made. I never leave contractors alone in my house, make sure I am present at all times, but I left Steve and his crew alone and felt totally comfortable doing so. He is the nicest person, very efficient, very clean and organized. I cannot say enough good things about him and the wonderful experience we had with this installation. Steve came to give us a quote for replacing our furnace and quickly identified two issues with our existing installation (over sized and insufficient return duct capacity.) He recommended the right size furnace and took the time to look at and recommend how we could increase our return duct capacity. Steve's quote was lower than the competitors. My furnace Goodman Furnace kept shutting off randomly and left my family with heat during subzero weather this week.
