I've had my share of Thai food in the Bay Area and this is by far one of the better ones. I normally hate pad Thai because it's usually too sweet, but I saw a bunch of great pictures and curiosity got the better of me. I ordered pad Thai as my main course. I would have loved to upgrade it to shrimp, but that would have been another 4 bucks. I opted for no upgrade and stuck with the chicken. Chicken was dry, but that's expected. Now the noodles part was perfection in a box - I did takeout. Noodles were chewy, tangy, fresh, and cooked just right. It was still warm when we drove through alameda dinner traffic. The cabbage, bean sprouts and peanuts went really well with the dish. I took mouths full of noodles, but the box remained full because they packed it! For $13, I think that pad Thai could serve 3! What a deal! I ended up having a whole plate of leftovers. Of course, I also had to do dessert and I chose the mango sticky rice. Although it came in a small box, it was so so good! The rice was purple rice - not overly sweet rice with salty coconut sauce and tart mango. The flavors combined well. Each bite was divine. I was already quite full from the pad Thai and predicted that I'd have to eat a small portion of dessert, but I was wrong. I ended up finishing the mango sticky rice cuz it was so darn delicious. It reminded me of a Vietnamese dessert that my mom used to make and I couldn't put down the fork! Please come try this place. Do it for your stomach! read more

Service: very attentive Food: finally one of the best well prepared Thai dishes like Tom yum Gung , seafood eggplant on sizzling platter , yellow curry for mild taste crab fried rice and fantastic mango black sticky rice as a happy ending. At first, Me and my wife was decided to cook Valentines dinner at home, however plan changed suddenly and have to eat outside. but we couldn't find any romantic restaurant without booking. So we decided to find a random restaurant in Alameda. We walked on the street and see this Thai restaurant. They have Valentines decorations (candle and flowers on every table) and looks quiet inside. That's what we are looking for. We don't like too crowd for Valentines dinner. We ordered Seafood Tom Yum soup , salmon curry and pineapple fried rice. Soup is amazing, it may be too sour to some people but we like it very much. Salmon overcooked a little bit, but the curry sauce is very delicious. We even mixed the curry sauce to our pineapple fried rice. Tasty There was two waitresses , both of them are very kind. when we asked for to go box. We said we just need one box. Because we was trying to put everything together. I think coming from the Bay there are lots of places for Thai and especially with presentation this place is affordable and welcoming for a family setting or to bring your guests out! Moved nearby last month and was looking for local place that served nam khao (crispy rice salad). May Thai had it and it was quite good. plenty crispy and with good amount of flavor. I walked in to order and I simply said "spicy" the box had "HOT!" marked on it, and I am almost 100% sure this must be the spiciest level because it was indeed quite spicy, for comparison, easily more spicy than 2x spice instant fire noodle. but this is authentic for this dish, and I am glad the option for real spice is here. I also tried pad see ew, flavorful and the vegetables are tender and delicious, some places the broccoli and carrot seem barely cooked and is more for decoration, but I found myself enjoying it at this location. chicken skewer was also good, pretty standard in quality to other places, but I think many other places give you only 3 for the same price, while may thai gives you 4, so same tasty dish, but better value. The service was very friendly and polite when I went in to order, and the preparation was faster than I thought it would be, as well as the estimated time that it would be ready was spot on. I so regret not taking photos of the beautifully presented dishes, but we were just too hungry! The massive and delicious "Larb" salad (don't let the odd name deter you) came out with lovely orchids decorating the mound of ground chicken salad with a light and tangy dressing. The server brought us a complimentary plate of lettuce leaves so we could make wraps, and in all honesty that dish alone would've been filling enough! But no, we had also ordered the pad Thai with crisp chunks of lightly fried tofu (wonderful choice even for this meat-eater), and chicken noodle soup, which needless to say went home nearly in its entirety for the next day. We were fulllllll and the Pad Thai was excellent - I am very fussy about Thai food so this was worth finding street parking for! No need for a reservation on the weeknights, it seems, we just walked in and found a table. Came in on a busy day. There was an issue with our appetizer where we ended up asking to leave early and not eat. We were pretty upset but then the owner came out and personally apologized and tried to rectify things. She insisted we take our meal for free (there was a long wait so we had gave up and wanted to leave). She insisted we take our main meal home for free with us and it was DELICIOUS. Honestly, the way the staff handled the original issue we had with our appetizer and wait time, said a lot about the owner and place. We had a negative experience initially but the way the staff listened to us and rectified the situation spoke a lot and made us want to return. Kan was greeting and serving the customers at a great pace, she took care of us and provided excellent food from the kitchen. Ginger vegetable dish was amazing. Tons of fresh cur ginger and tender chicken! The pumpkin curry is a true delicacy here, large chunks of curry saturated pumpkin and a creamy pumpkin base as well. The most disgusting Thai food I've ever had! We ordered pad thai, red curry, mushroom dumplings, pad ew sue, and two orders of rice. The pad Thai was essentially raw noodles. Way undercooked! We told them and they said they would bring out another one. Second portion was smaller and again raw noodles! The red curry was red water with food coloring! Almost no flavor! Disgusting and we couldn't eat it. The rice was a mushy mess and the mushroom dumpling was also undercooked with bland to no flavor. Such a horrible experience! I had a tofu string bean dish and some rice. It was good. I noticed some thing I wasn't familiar with that looked like pieces of light colored short hair so I called the waitress over and she reassured me that it was some kind of seasoning /spice so I said ok and I didn't worry about it. Shortly after that, I believe who was the chef came over and talk to me a little bit about it and I really appreciated that they explained it to me and wanted to reassure me and wanted me to enjoy my meal and I surely did.
