Food and service are spectacular!!! We traveled to Oakland for work last November and again this past week. When we came the first time Chef PP graciously greeted us. We loved the food so much we had to try it again and just like the first time, they did not disappoint. On a traveling time crunch we called ahead and Muna was delighted to serve our party of 10. They were so dedicated to hospitality that they worked right through their lunch break. :( We were humbled and grateful and very, very full. Came here on a random Sunday evening over the 4th weekend. Did a Yelp search for Thai in the area and this came up as our second choice (our first wasn't open), so glad we came here instead. Love the variety on the menu! First off, the portions are HUGE! For two people who eat for 4 lol, we couldn't finish everything we ordered (and we almost always do, esp with Thai). We ordered the Lao papaya salad which came with chicharones/pork grinds and noods, so tasty and satisfying. Green chicken curry, perfect flavor and the pad see ew, soooo good. This review is long overdue. BF and I met up for early dinner not really knowing what we were in the mood for so we went to Alameda and started Yelping. Stumbled on this little place right as they opened for dinner. We've never heard of it so of course I had to yelp it. I think at the time, they've only been open for a few months. We ordered the crab fried rice and chicken with yellow curry sauce and I remember us saying that it was quite pricey for fried rice, but ordered it anyway. It was the best crab fried rice we've ever had! No imitation crab meat, and they did not skimp on it. The curry was tasty, but I swear I could've eaten that fried rice with nothing else. Can't wait to go back to try other items on their menu. read more

To be quick and to the point: the dishes we got were not very flavorful, not at all spicy despite ordering "hot" and "thai spicy." My dish, which should have otherwise been vegan, came with egg in it (not in the item description on the menu). And, to make matters worse, both my partner and I felt sick to our stomachs the next day. No idea why the reviews are so great. Well folks I don't do a lot of reviews but I do if they're really bad or really good. And this one was great. So let's start out, a little hole in the wall restaurant very very clean, kind of unassuming. Came in with a party of eight and was greeted by a very enthusiastic hostess. She quickly rearranged the restaurant to fit our party in and we were quickly served water, menus, and offered appetizers. The appetizers we had were the chicken wings, by the way very very good great flavor, and not the tiny little ones you get at the bar restaurants. Also spring rolls which had a phenomenal garlic sauce to dip in. Each of the persons in my party ordered something different and we kind of shared family style with some special side dishes for some. I had the seafood eggplant stirfry and I cannot tell you just how good it was. It was a gorgeous plate with ample food , lots of seafood, muscles, octopus, shrimp, fish and very tender scallops, and I ordered the medium heat, just enough where you know you are eating Thai food, not set your boots on fire and your have to wipe your brow. Fantastic. Pineapple rice, really good, not dry,not sticky. Beautiful color and flavor. We had the seafood soup Tom Yum. It was great. And I mean it. The flavor was amazing. Tried the pad Thai, the Pad See Ew, and was really surprised at just how flavorful each was and just how different each was. Finished the meal with Butterfly Lemon tea,I was shocked at just how good it was, and with the mint it cooled off the heat of the meal without haste. So I'm closing with if you're In The area and craving Thai food you should really try it. The waitress was also great to interact with. Absolutely great! The staff was very friendly and did a great job at serving us well. If something didn't happen as fast as we'd hoped, they apologized and recognized the delay, instead of making excuses for it. I appreciate their genuine nature and desire to make things better. The food was really good! Soup, appetizers, mains, and the dessert, everything tasted fresh and seasoned well. My one and only negative was that the beef was slightly over cooked in my pad see ew, but I didn't care too much because the owners (I presume the owners) were so great!!! The food can be pretty good, but they get backed up very quickly. For any takeout orders or DoorDash, often times the store keeps delaying the orders and it takes 4 dashers to go there and the store turns them away and you can never reach May Thai by calling them. Mailbox is always full. This has happened twice. I would recommend other Thai restaurants. read more

One of my family friends recommended this place and said it was the best Thai food they'd had so I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately our experience wasn't as great. We went on a weekday for dinner so it was quite slow. We ordered the lamb chops, side of rice, and pad see ew. The lamb and pad see ew came out lukewarm which was strange considering we were 1 of 3 tables. The lamb was seasoned a bit inconsistently- some parts had too much salt, and other parts weren't seasoned. The vinegar dipping sauce helped add flavor though. The lamb also came with some veggies, but the potatoes were undercooked. The pad see ew didn't have enough flavor for my liking. It wasn't sweet enough or salty enough. They forgot to give us the rice so we had to ask and remind them. I really wanted to like this place, but our experience wasn't great. Maybe we ordered the wrong things? read more

I made an online delivery for a chicken pad thai and a crab fried rice. Picking it up was swift and smooth with no problems, but once we got home to eat, the crab fried rice didn't taste right as usual. We gave them a call and told them what the issue was and they let us change the fried rice to a different item on the menu without any problems or extra charge. On top of that once I went to pick it up, they also remade another batch of chicken fried rice to make up for the inconvenience. I really appreciate the amazing customer service and the employees going the extra mile even though they didn't have to. They care about providing great service to customers and have delicious menu options if you're craving Thai food. Definitely will continue to order food here! read more

Really enjoyed our take out from May Thai. We tried it for the first time and ordered the pumpkin curry, eggplant dish and Pad Thai. Flavor was really good on all three. They are exactly as you'd expect on these dishes compared to other Thai restaurants we tried in the Bay Area. The Pad Thai had a bit more sauce than to our usual liking. Portions were all solid for the price you pay. Note that typical for many Thai and some Asian restaurants, rice is ordered separately and the curry and eggplant entrees were delicious with rice as there was plenty of flavor from the sauces. I stopped by randomly for some authentic thai street food, I was surprised with a warm welcome from the staffs, super friendly, they have a lot interesting dishes and I ended up to order the grilled lamb dish, seem like a good deal (compare with a lot of different places), more surprise when the food came out, 6 tender racks of lamb and a lot of vegetables, I was so excited to try it out and forgot to take some picture (my bad), they grilled it perfectly, super tender and flavorful, highly recommend it, then I ordered the roti with vanilla ice cream, so delicious (I only have an empty place picture to prove my word) Then I ordered crab fried rice for togo, and again it didn't disappoint me at all, it was super flavorful, especially combine with the sauce that included, this the best crab fried rice I have ever had. We visited May Thai on the Sunday before thanksgiving. It's been busy since the holiday season started. Three of us were dining for dinner and two of us Re vegetarians. The food was beyond delicious. We ordered the coconut milk soup with tofu (vegetarian), side order of rice noodle to go with the soup - the best combo ever; pad Thai with beef; pineapple fired rice with tofu and pad see ew (custom made vegetarian version). The owner P was amazing, and super attentive. We originally wanted to order the pad thai with Tofu and she was honest with us that the pad thai source is not vegetarian and it won't taste like padthai without the source so she recommended the pad see ew instead, which turned out to be prefect. Not many restaurant would care about little details like that. Her effort in making sure that our dishes are vegetarian is above and beyond. She also check in with us about the food after they were served. It's definitely a five star restaurant for the excellent food, amazing customer service and warm/cozy atmosphere. You gotta try it out! You won't regret it. The Thai ice tea was also perfect. read more

It was the worst experience ever. First of all, it took them almost 50 minutes to serve a salad. The reason why they were so slow because they made the take-out orders first. I love Thai food but over time....monkey Thai at south shore has been increasing they're price. 2 dishes for $53??? No thanks! and toomies is just wayyy too high price for bad quality food and the place smells like mold.
