Arrrrrg this place is a real immersion in Middle Eastern culture in that they'll greet you with warm smiles, warm conversation, will get to you when they get to you and sell you things you don't really want. Oh well. I was far overdue for lunch and was thrilled to see Arabic writing on the sign here so I thought I could get some falafel or shawarma. The guy who was running the place (seemingly alone at the time) was from Morocco. All good signs. Virtually 90% of the menu was unavailable since the main cook was out of town that week. What? Morocco guy placed a cold bottle of water straight in front of me, smiled, took my order after explaining what was actually available and disappeared. For a while. I realized what the deal was and figured the water was bait (memories of a Lebanese restaurant in London...) and tried to avoid it. I succumbed and, yes, ended up being charged $1.50 for the cold siren of a bottle of water. The food was OK but the long wait, lack of availability of mostly everything good on the menu and the sneaky water thing combined with occasional urges to just get up and leave since he disappeared for so long make me not really want to come back here. I'll probably try again in a few months but if you want ethnic food, give the African place called Alafia a shot. To make it worse, the other review for this place might be from the business itself since it's copy/pasted from a review written for a Japanese restaurant in NYC. Now the main event, sitting at the former location of the venerable Molly G's and the short lived and strangely demised Auntie Dora's Front Porch, we have Masaj Cafe. They're halal, they've got hookahs, they have pretty decent food, and the staff is friendly. They're upfront about the fact that the place is, shall we say, a bit on the run down side, and are working on making it prettier. I'll need to try more food there before making a final rating, but, for example, replacing cracked windows may be a good thing.

He shoved us, knocked the sodas we had just paid for out of our hands, and even put his hands on my SIL to the point where I had to physically push him off her to stop the assault. This was not just rude--it was threatening, violent, and completely unacceptable. As if that wasn't enough, he later had the nerve to say he was calling the police, and then fraudulently charged our cards $63 for a soda. Yes, sixty-three dollars. This is hands down the most unprofessional, unsafe, and hostile "business" I have ever stepped foot in. For a place to openly assault paying customers, disrespect women, and then commit credit card fraud--it's beyond unbelievable. Stay far, far away from this place.

There was really loud music outside, and people were still dancing at like 2:30 in the morning. What I liked: They had a TON of hookah flavors. Dozens if not a hundred varieties, between a few different brands. I also like their food truck outside, which makes great fries and a decent falafel! Things that need work: I assumed service would be proactive about making sure you order something, but they really don't seem to care if you get anything or not once you pay the cover. You will have to hunt down an employee to even get an initial drink order, but once you have their attention they are prompt. I'm not really a tobacco person anymore, but I still appreciated my time here. I don't know if I'll smoke again, but I'll at least be back for the food truck!

And because I had not tried any spots out since my return to Phoenix, we decided to use Yelp to find this place. As hookah lounges go, I found this one to be super chill, but pretty spacious and accommodating. Service was on point, as we got to the location after 10 P.M. and were still properly greeted and served as soon as we walked in. It is a self seat environment with multiple lounges and TVs. Some of the TVs even have PlayStation and Xbox set up on it if that's your thing. My homeboy actually played a little bit of FIFA with somebody that was already hanging out while we sat there and talked for a while. They have a wide selection of drinks, juices and sodas, but I didn't see any food selection, so I would definitely prepare accordingly. Overall, if I am interested in having a bit of hookah, this is probably the place I would try out again.

For one, Sierra Vista is a small town…read moreand it isn't much to do for leisure; Chill Factor Hookah Lounge is definitely doing a service for those who like to get out without having to travel all the way to Tucson. The Hookah: They have several flavors to choose from to include house made mixes. I used to smoke hookah almost daily and would visit lounges from city to city and I must say that I am very impressed with this experience. Normally, when I take a break from hookah, my first time doing it again is too harsh and I end up stopping. I'd been eyeing the lounge for a while but wasn't sure if I'd have that same harsh experience so I held off. My birthday being the next day, and needing to kill time before celebrating; I decided to give it a try and I must say the first hit was super smooth. If you like to try different flavors, they are sure to have something to suit your tastes. Happy Hour: On Wednesdays and Thursdays, they have happy hour where you can get discounted drinks (I drank Coronas and they were about $1 and some change each. They also do Karaoke on Thursdays as well as a poetry night. Me being up in age, these nights suit me fine, especially if you want to just chill and vibe without much sensory. I haven't been on the weekend yet, but I've been told those are the more lively nights. Definitely check it out on any night; you won't be disappointed! Pricing: Again, I've only been on a Wednesday night but for $20 or so you can have premium hookah and a beer and have a good night. These are really great prices for hookah so definitely don't miss out on the Happy Hour nights if you can't make the weekend or other nights. It's a cool after work unwind spot for sure. Hospitality: Customer service was stellar. You feel like you are at home walking in. The owner is very attentive and will ensure you are satisfied with your experience. (The staff even took a birthday shot with me)! As as "former party girl" who doesn't do much of anything these days; nor have I smoked hookah in quite some time; I realized that I am a lightweight now. The staff made sure I was safe and comfortable and said I could stay as long as I needed to recuperate! This shows their integrity, professionalism, and that they truly care about their patrons and for that, this will be my "spot" (AND I will bring others to join me in the near future). Atmosphere: I vibed to the music all night. Seating was comfortable, the space was clean and the lighting wasn't too bright. They have T.V.'s playing on each side of the venue and V.I.P. seating that can be reserved. I'll be back for sure.
