I previously took both my Pomeranians, Peanut and Lobo, to the same groomer for about 16 years, but Lobo passed away this year and Peanut had such a hard time going to the groomers by herself. On the date of our appointment, Macio contacted us to see if it would be okay to arrive early as he was ahead on his appointments. It worked out for us and he arrived about a half-hour early. I can't say ENOUGH about how much my 14 month old Yorkie JuJu and I loved our experience with MC Groomer! I just adopted my dog in the last month and was so pleased to have found Macio's grooming service. He was communicative in the days leading up to the appointment and answered all of my questions regarding price and grooming packages. Then on the day, he arrived 5 min prior to our scheduled appointment time which was so appreciated. I work from home so I am by default accessible during the appointment, but I had blocked my calendar to make sure I was able to get to my dog as quick as possible if necessary as it was this nervous little pup's first time ever being groomed. Therefore, Macio's promptness was greatly appreciated! I sent Macio an inspo photo for the cut I wanted my dog to have and he agreed to match him as closely as possible to the picture. However, once he got started, he realized that my dog's hair was matted and knotted down to the skin and he would need to shave much shorter in order to take care of the mats in a way that would keep this a positive first grooming experience for my dog. He sent pictures from the van, explained what he needed to do, and asked for my approval so I wouldn't be surprised. This level of transparency and communication went a long way! When JuJu's appointment was done, he was handsome, fresh, and appeared to be much more comfortable with walking and running. Usually, they do a good job with the dogs. However, on the last groom, I noticed that one of my dogs had a cut in her eye and was bleeding after the groom and the other one had a cut on his hind leg. They are also raising their prices every 3-4 months now. I understand that small businesses need to raise their prices to keep up with inflation, but doing it once or twice every quarter is a little on the excessive side. I would also like to comment on the response from the business: - I appreciate you taking the time to respond. However, the groomer was informed about a similar incident earlier and then it happened again and they were informed about this incident as well. The vet has also confirmed that this was indeed a cut from grooming and not "dry skin" as being claimed, to shift the blame to the dogs. The groomer is being encouraged to reach out to the vet, if they want, to confirm this diagnosis. - Regarding the prices, the price hike was implemented on March 23rd and then again on July 30th, one week prior to the appointment. I would not consider this "6 months". The business has groomed both my pups 5 times from July 19, 2021 to May 18, 2022. It's unfortunate that they don't consider this as "a regular client". read more
