It is definitely hit or miss with the restaurant. I placed my order over the phone. When I got to the restaurant and paid the cashier was ready to move on to the next customer and I had to ask about my 2 gallons of tea. It's almost like they are lazy and don't like preparing gallons because 9 times out of 10, I call in my order and 7 times of those 9, I have to wait when I have called in 15 minutes ahead. I loveeeee McAllister's chicken tortilla soup!!! After reading other peoples reviews makes me want to try the other soups too.. But oh my gosh, the chicken tortilla is so delicious I don't know if I can go to mcallisters and not order it. Lmao. I usually get the hot sandwiches, the southwest turkey melt is really good! Today we tried something different and got the classic Italian, they put way too much mustard.. It tasted spicy, and IMO not appetizing. But the pickle that come with the sandwich order is always gooood. I love their pickles!! McAllisters baked potato is HUGE! And it's so good! My first time trying it today. My husband and I eat here several times a week. This place used to offer exceptional customer service. Jimmy, the previous manager (and Ricky before him) was always in the dining area bussing tables, refilling drinks, talking to the customers, etc. But recently, there has been a change in management and we never see the manager in the dining area or anywhere else for that matter. He is usually in his office. He has cut down on the number of people that are in the dining area available to customers. One of those employs Gloria. She is the hardest worker there. She does everything she absolutely can to take care of the customer. But we also hear the kitchen yelling for her to take food out to customers. She can only do so much. Perhaps if the manager would actually go out into the dining area, he would realize that only having one or two people out there is clearly not enough. We have also overheard numerous inappropriate conversations taking place as several people (those who are supposed to be taking orders and assistant managers) stand around, looking at computers & waiting on orders to be filled. One example was last weekend when one of the ladies was talking about how she hated her job. We also had a very difficult time getting our drinks refilled. The dining area wasn't very busy at all, but we never saw anyone bus tables, talk to customers or refill drinks. We sat right by the kitchen & actually called out, saying "Hello?! Anyone? Can we get a refill? HELP!" It wasn't until we called for help that someone noticed us b/c they were too engrossed in their ow. personal conversation. Before my family visited me, I raved about McAlister's. At the time I'd only been to the Fort Worth location off Camp Bowie. I took them to the Arlington location so they could get 'em some. Our food was just alright. That half soup half sandwich deal is a total rip-off wherever you go. Presentation, blah at best. My chicken and dumplings tasted canned and had no chicken and what appeared to be a big noodle, not a dumpling. I was really disappointed in that. I used to love McAlisters, but this location has gone down hill rapidly. I have ordered the same few things since the first time I came to McAlisters so I have a pretty good idea of the look and taste of the food I'll be receiving. Not anymore. The last few times I've ordered my potato has come out differently. I mean, who wants large chunks of red onion on their baked potato? When the food was cooked and had good flavor this was a solid option. For nearly a $12.00 meal, I expect at least an average meal, but not here. When I'm trying to avoid fast food, McAlister's is a place I appreciate having around the office, however the service here is pretty off. I've had their baked potatoes which are really delicious, and they have quite a few options. The last time I went I got a chicken caesar salad which doesn't take much effort to put together but I waited in the to-go area for almost 15 minutes and then got a huge container of lettuce with a tiny serving of dressing, almost no parmesan, some sad looking strips of chicken, and about 2 croutons. I was pretty surprised when I got back to the office and opened it up, and for like $8 it was too expensive for not a lot of food. That combined with the unfriendly employees and long wait time made this not the best location ever. Their warm food has been a-ok though, and my friend loved his sandwich, I just don't think they are worth seeking out. read more

I'm so tired of complaining about service but I was told "it's the only way to try to and improve service" so here goes. 1) When giving a time to pick up from an online order, quote an accurate time. Waiting fifteen minutes beyond quote is inexcusable. I'd be fine with a longer time if it was accurate. 2) A French dip without jus is just a warm roast beef. Having been to this location many times, today was my last. The people working the counter obviously didn't want to be there and didn't mind showing their poor attitude to customers. They also ask you to include a tip when you place your credit card into the machine for payment. Also have a tip glass on the counter where you place your order. I prefer to tip based on the level of service I receive and the service at this location has become increasingly poor. Taking my business to other establishments where the team members appreciate the customer and don't expect to be given money by the customers just for doing what there getting paid to do. read more

Update: Have gone back a few times after management got in touch with me and they have really improved. The food for pickup has either been ready or within a min or two of the time they stated it would be. They are also taking much better care to see that ALL items are in the bags, big improvement! This is a solid sandwich shop and would probably have given it a 4 star if there wasn't consistent problems with the pick up, the food either isn't ready when they say it will be or items are missing. But the food is solid, I love that I can get 1/2 a sandwich (love the BLT) and chips and queso as a side. We don't eat dine in here so I can't say for sure how the service is for that. read more

I went to this location because it is close to my job. I usually go to another location. I ordered and was the ONLY customer in the store. The employees were all young women that I noticed. After waiting about 15min I took a look in the back to see what possibly could be taking so long. Their eating salads in customer view chatting laughing, which nothing is wrong with that, IF your working towards getting a customer food out in a timely matter. I asked for extra mayo on my sandwich got home it is bone dry ( called taking the whole meal back) what upsets me is I have a medical condition that limits me eating. When I can eat I want to eat something I love and enjoy it. I'm eating here with family and everyone is semi pleased with their order. However, when I received my sandwich the veggie club, I couldn't find any guacamole on it. When I took it back they pulled apart the sandwich with no gloves on and found 1 slice with what looked like barely a smuge on it. At under $3 a cup, I'll definitely frequent this place more often. :D I like getting the 1/2 and 1/2 combo because it's practically 2 meals in one for me. The grilled chicken side salad is quite filling and large. You also have to get the iced tea here. Go with 1/2 sweet and un-sweet and it's pure perfection. I had lunch here yesterday ... and was disappointed yet again. Although I enjoyed the cup of broccoli cheddar soup, the sandwich was no where near up to my expectations. I ordered the Horseradish Roast Beef ... which I ASSUMED would contain horseradish. If it was in the sandwich, I could not tell. Not even a whiff of the distinctive aroma, and none of the bite. The sandwich, on grilled chibatta, was very greasy on the outside ... like it had been covered in oil prior to being pressed - almost Cuban style. It was a very flat, hot sandwich, but the bread had not been toasted, just oiled and heated and pressed flat. The pressed aspect did not add to the overall presentation or taste. Normally I like the food at McAlister's Deli. But recently I've noticed a change in the food and atmosphere which has limited my visits to once very 2 months or so. The food taste stale and old as if it is sitting under a heat lamp. While most of the employees are friendly, there are a few that are annoying to point of being unpleasant. McAlister's Deli offers free wifi and I use to enjoy taking advantage of it while eating good food. I don't enjoy employees peaking over my shoulder and staring at my laptop. What I do on my laptop is none of their business and they need to stick to the task they get paid to do. Because of all of this, I cannot recommend McAlister's Deli anymore. read more
