Chicken Tortilla Soup and Grilled Chicken on a Croissant
    Richard Walton C.

Upon entering this location I was greeted by a festive atmosphere because today was Free Tea Day. The staff had decorated with balloons everywhere, especially around their dedicated Tea Bar. Today I also learned they do breakfast catering. I ordered off the Choose 2 option and selected a cup of Chicken Tortilla soup plus the classic Grilled Chicken on a Croissant. My plate came with a pickle and some plain Tostitos chips. The grilled chicken sandwich was good although it is better when the croissant is not cut in half. The soup was too spicy for me to eat. I would have thought a Mexican flavor would have been good enough without making it so spicy some people can't tolerate the spiciness. There was nothing on the menu indicating it was spicy. Service was excellent! Fast and efficient at the order counter with prompt and correct delivery to the table. My food delivery person noticed I didn't have a drink and brought me a cup after we both realized it had been forgotten. Also after my finished meal plate had been taken away so quickly, another staff member stopped by wondering if I was still waiting on food delivery. No issues with parking and the restrooms were clean and fragranced.

    Veggie baked potato

My friend and I were trying to think of a meal we could get quickly that wasn't fast food. So I ordered a couple of veggie baked potatoes on the app, for carryout. There were few people dining inside the restaurant, but there were quite a few carryout orders waiting for pickup. The potatoes were huge, soft, and fluffy. I love baked potatoes, and I can tell instantly if a restaurant is serving reheated potatoes. This were perfect, and the vegetable toppings were fresh and plentiful. Our food was well packaged and was hot and fresh. I will definitely think of McAllister's the next time I am craving a baked potato.

Had lunch at McAlister's today near 116th and Keystone. We ordered the Memphian sandwich. It's $15.29 for a 12" and $10.29 for a 6". We ordered the 12" to split, my wife and I. We also ordered a kids broccoli and cheese bowl for $3.49 with a side of cucumber and tomato mix ....just because we like these as sides. This is not on their printed menu as a kids meal option. This sandwich is considered one of their Premium Sandwiches. We've never had it, so decided to try something new. It's smoked Turkey, Black Forest ham, black angus roast beef, provolone, spring mix lettuce, tomato, Mayo and spicy brown mustard on a toasted baguette. The sandwich was served hot and, even though they were busy, it arrived at our table quickly. Normally I'd balk at a $15+ sub sandwich. However, this contained a lot of meat and was very filling. Make sure you join the McAlister Rewards program. They give you discount coupons. Today I used one that gave me regular points plus an additional 200 if I purchased a sandwich. At 500 points you can get a free kids meal. So next time we visit, we can get our favorite broccoli cheese bowl for free! Finally, we really like their "serve yourself" tea bar. We like to make Arnold Palmers (half tea and half lemonade). We like this option here.

    Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich

Been here multiple times. Most of the time eating in is fine. Sometimes they don't follow customizations well. Had one order without olives that came with olives. Last pickup order my Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich did not include avocados and it's the only reason why I ordered this sandwich. Very upset but I was busy all night so I went back to McAlister's the next morning and they made me a complimentary Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich correctly this time and gave me a side and a drink while waiting. Very impressed with the response, they didn't have to respond this way but they did.

We eat here several times a month, but quality and cleanliness has been going down hill. Today was probably the last time. The tea tasted old and spoiled and the store was an absolute mess. Employees standing around and no one was cleaning. Self serve drink area was disgusting.

My wife and I are quite disappointed with this McAlisters. We came in for an early dinner 4 pm on Saturday 10/28. We both ordered pick 2 option and similar orders. 1/2 chicken salad sandwich and 1/2 baked potato. The person at the register said she would check to see if the had baked potatoes. Then we waited for several minutes. Finally I waved down the cook in the kitchen. He says "oh, no. Our potato warmer is broken, and the potatoes are cold, and it's not worth making 2. Ok. Well. That's strange. We felt minimized by that comment. So we ordered 2 cups of broccoli cheddar soup. When the meals were brought to the table I asked the server if they had crackers. She replied "oh I'm sorry we are out of crackers". We thought how could they be out of crackers??? I don't think we are going to come back here. In fact. No, we are definitely not coming back P.s the 1/2 sandwich was very skimpy. Ugh. p.p.s. I complained to the manager on duty. He said they had been out of crackers and were waiting on a truck to deliver new ones. As far as the potato warmer, he said it went out a couple of days ago and they were waiting on a repair person to fix or replace it. So, I think this restaurant has systemic problems above any shift manager.

We sat at a high top table in the bar. Our server, Bailey (the bartender), was friendly and super attentive. She made recommendations and kept glasses filled. The craft beer selection is excellent with about 16 local options on tap. My husband had a Fall City "Hipster Repellent". The name alone is interesting, but he loved his beer. I had the Espresso Martini which came with roasted coffee beans floating on top. My cocktail went down easy. I also had a glass of the Berringer Chardonnay. The pour is generous. We shared a plate of Loaded Tots, which was wonderful. The tots are made from scratch in-house and covered with roasted bits of pork belly, cheese, a sauce and green onions. We LOVED the tots, which came out super hot. We also shared a plate of the Loaded Hummus. The plate is beautiful and colorful. The hummus is fresh made and loaded with bits of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and is delicious on a balsamic reduction. The hummus is served with a generous portion of fresh in-house made focaccia bread which tasted amazing. The Loaded Hummus is a winner in my book. Bailey our server was fabulous. She worked the entire bar and was an ambassador of the chef and menu. I wish we had time to stay for dinner because the food is outstanding. Each dish that we saw pass by looked delicious and artistic. I highly recommend. We will be returning for dinner soon. Easy 5 stars! We found street parking, but parking was limited.

We always enjoyed the blue cheese potatoes, gnocchi, and perogies, but in particular we very much miss the crab and roasted artichoke toast, which was unlike anything we have had anywhere else and may have been my favorite dish going anywhere. We are grateful at least that they haven't eliminated the pretzels, which are also unique from any other (although we miss the cheese ball it used to be served with). Will return the 5th star when they release my menu items that have been taken hostage.

We had the crab cakes and crab & artichoke dip for apps and our lunch entrees were the fried catfish sandwich with fries and the filet with mashed potatoes and collard greens. For bevvies, we tried their rosé and red zeppelin English ale. All of it, every bit and bite, was 10/10. Food breakdown: - Crab cakes: succulent lump crap meat within a lightly battered and flash fried coating. They come on a bed of arugula with a light dressing and dipping sauce for the cakes. Super yummy! - Crab & artichoke dip: ooey gooey deliciousness, perfect balance of cheese sauce too. You don't have to search for the crab or artichokes. And the fried naan chips were sliced long and thin, and could've been called naan fries actually. Perfect companion for the dip. - Fried catfish sammich: the piece of fish was huge and the batter was good. It came on Texas toast with fixins and tartar sauce. Won't lie, the only thing I wanted for was some hot sauce. That's a me problem... just gotta have hot sauce when I eat fried fish but I didn't ask for any while I was there (they may offer it) and still very much enjoyed the sandwich. - Filet: it was great... hubby got it medium and it arrived perfectly cooked. The Demi glaze sauce was so good and so were the sides. Their collard greens are seasoned up! I said does my auntie work here?! This cuisine is so comfortingly southern and didn't disappoint. Shoutout to our friendly and helpful server, Dan... our food and drinks came out quickly and so did our to-go box. His service was truly top notch. We have been living in Carmel for 5 years and this is one of the best restaurants here. If you're on the fence about trying this place, jump off and make a reservation. You won't regret it.

Our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered the pimento dip and crab cake to start. The dip was not quite as good as we expected based on prior reviews. It was good not great. We enjoyed the crab cakes more which were full of crab. The entrees were the stars though - I had the peach glazed salmon which was cooked perfectly and the glaze was super flavorful. The collard greens were tender and had a tasty smoke flavor. A couple folks had short rib entrees and one had one of the shrimp and grits options. The servings were very hearty especially for the prices. All in our party agreed they would definitely return and happily order the same dish although there are many items on the menu we all want to try. We had seats inside and it was fresh and clean and not too loud despite being busy. Great place!

Zoe was patient and accommodating with my requests for samples of all the new ciders or ones I hadn't yet tried yet: Horchata, Pomegranate Soda, Passionfruit Coconut and Patio Rush. She even brought out a mix of Milk Bones for our fur baby so he could perform his best tricks. In all seriousness, the cider braised chicken I added to the Orchard Salad was so tender, juicy and bursting with flavor. My husband said the hot sauce he asked for in the side MAKES the Fried Chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed the tomato basil soup especially because it has a good amount of gooey cheese and lots of flavors & seasoning. I am always a fan of Ash & Elm Cider and was happy to have the Crisp Peach today for a change! I regret not trying the Imperial Bourbon Cider but I guess I was going for more of a floral, fruity and citrusy palate. Next time, I DO want to sample the Imperial Bourbon Cider with added brown sugar, fermented and aged in West Fork Whiskey oak barrels. It's apparently Boozy, vanilla and with bourbon notes! ABV for 13% and possibly upgrade with a splash of bitters. Sounds intriguing. Update: the table did not seem so wobbly today. Thanks for listening to that feedback!!

When we arrived, the place was empty. We weren't even sure that they were open until we saw the kitchen staff behind the line. Upon entering, I saw a kiosk where you can place your order, but a woman emerged from the back to take our orders. Being that we weren't familiar with the menu, I told her that the kiosk might be easier. She insisted that it wasn't, and as I went on, I realized the same. The kiosk states that there is a $1.25 charge for the sauce on the side, but she explained that it comes with one sauce free of charge and additional sauces cost extra. We placed our order with her: A small Italian salad to share, the Fatty B calzone with the spicy marinara sauce and the Hot Mother Clucker calzone with the chipotle garlic ranch. We ordered them with the suggested sauces but also order the regular marinara and the garlic sauces on the side. We were given glasses for water (self-serve from the soda fountain) and also ordered a bottled beer and canned cider. By the time we were done ordering, a line had formed. The store was understaffed, which was explained to us later, so we had to exercise patience. We didn't receive our beverages until after the calzones were delivered. Before that, we received our rather large, small salad. It was more than enough for two people. The woman had explained to us that it comes with 4 cups of lettuce plus the toppings. That information helped us make our decision to share. The space is large and we noticed cornhole boards to be used on the patio. Unfortunately, it was raining when we went, otherwise we would have played. The calzones were good and filling. Neither of us finished ours and had food to enjoy at home later that evening. The Hot Mother Clucker isn't very pizza-esque, but dipping it into marinara sort of brought it back into the fold. The suggested chipotle garlic ranch was a better pairing indeed. The salad bowl/plate is oddly shaped, which caused toppings to being spilling off the sides. When it was brought to our table, the woman tried saving the toppings by wedging them between the order slip and her fingers and dumping them back onto our plate. I stopped her. I wasn't trying to be rude, but I don't want to eat food that a stranger's hands have touched. I explained this to her. She tried to assure us that she washes her hands constantly throughout the day, but she'd just come over from the register without a handwashing break. Just let the toppings fall where they may! Let's keep it hygienic.
