Usually okay service and good food when I order to go items. Today was not that, I ordered a kids soup and two adult soups with bread bowls. The soup was okay, nothing unusual but the bread bowl came half cut and semi flattened. I get some issues happen but to let this go out the door knowing that it's not the standard "bowl"; and when your customer calls in and nicely explains to a MANAGER you offer them a free bread bowl on their next trip by in my opinion unacceptable... I wasn't looking for a freebie, just a soup in a "bread bowl" I shouldn't have to order more soup to get what I should've gotten the first time. I won't be visiting this location again, a bread bowl won't make up for my soup currently overflowing my bread bowl y'all. Check your food before you leave, lesson learned! read more

I haven't had a whole lot of McAlister's but I have liked what I have gotten. They have great spuds, great sandwiches, and pretty good salads (not quite Newks in the salad department). We also use them for catering a couple of times a month and it's been perfect everytime. read more

This was the second time this month at this location. I try to give a restaurant a chance but this place is horrible. I witnessed a cashier, straightening/ hands in her pants, her clothes at the front register. She than proceeded to get cooked orders for packaging. When I told the manager what she had done he told her and she walked away never going to the restroom. She went and bused tables. He never apologized or spoke back to me. Service was ok not exceptional. They seem a little uneasy to serve my family. Out of all three orders only one had a pickle. Sandwiches were ok but the wraps were good. read more

I used to enjoy McAllisters for a variety of options. My past two visits to the Collierville's location have changed my mind. This will be the last visit. Taking on pickup orders has seemed to trump dining in guests. Both visits have taken over 30 minutes from order to delivery to table. And that is only after going to counter to track the order. Food is normally consistently very good but Last week I didnt get all the food I paid for on my pick up order(shouldve checked before picked up). Tonight -they were out of potatoes(ok things happen- no biggie at all) so we ordered two french dips with sides etc....Wife arrived home with two french dips but neither one had AU JUS / the most important part also no pickle in either dinner. Great menu-plenty of choices and a little bit of something for everyone. I love the harvest chicken salad and chicken and dumplings. My grip is the ladies who take orders are so rude. The lady today smelled like cigarettes and was chewing food while she took my order. No smile. Just attitude like "why are you here?" Really really off putting. I tried McAlister's while visiting family in Germantown and found it to be a very friendly place.. They had quite a few young people taking orders at the counter. I wanted to try a couple of different sandwiches and when I asked if I could the young lady at the counter said it was no problem. I ordered two halves, one Smoky Pepper Jack Turkey and one Orange Cranberry Turkey. They were delicious. My meal was brought to me in a very short time after I ordered. All in all it was very good and I'll return the next time I'm in town. read more

The food is about what you'd expect from a deli chain, nothing particularly special, but edible. We go regularly most because of Kids Eat Free Nights on busy Tuesdays and Saturdays. I was in town and needed something quick, so I thought I would stop by. Truly, this was a terrible decision. The food was fine--I got a turkey sandwich--but the service and cleanliness were horrifying. The employee who rang me up huffed and rolled her eyes when I came up to place my order. She then basically threw my number and receipt at me. I tried to find a clean place to sit. There weren't any, and this was at 6:00pm with very few customers. I ended up wiping down a table with a napkin and hoping for the best, but my table was right next to what can only be described as a disaster zone created by the tantrums of multiple toddlers. Food, napkins, and wrappers littered the floor surrounding the high chairs. There were puddles of drink on the floor, and the restaurant smelled like a diaper. I've been to other McAllister locations when in town for work. Although it is a chain, we don't have them up in Washington State. If you like sandwiches and salads it is great. Once of my favorite places for lunch. It can get busy, so good idea to get here a little early if you can. If you haven't been good place to try. I've never waited a horribly long time for my food, I think the time is reasonable. Staff is very friendly. They do have outdoor seating as well, though I prefer indoors. I placed a TO-GO order for my entire work staff and when I went to pick up my order the young lady at the counter looked directly at me and walked away as I was approaching the counter to get my drinks. That was extremely disrespectful. I didn't say anything at the time because I normally don't like to make a fuss about things. I understand good help is hard to find so I dismissed it. When I got back with my order I was missing items and some of the potatoes were hard/over cooked. I called the manager (James) and made him aware of my issue and he chuckled to himself while we were on the phone (I guess my disappointment was a joke to him). I let him know I would be on my way to get my missing order items. The manager never apologized. He was condescending and curt. He did give me two free cookies (I guess that was supposed to make up for my gas and time wasted). Because the order was so large I found out about other missing items as I got back to my place of work after making the second trip. I'm not looking for money back or anything. Almost every time I order take out from McAlister's in Collierville they leave something out of my order. Today I ordered a sweet tea and 3 bowls of soup. When I go to pick it up I pay and the tea isn't on the order. I pay for the sweet tea separate and they take a min hand me a bag and I get home and no tea. Okay, another updated review of Collierville McAlisters. Happy to say they have greatly improved since my last review. Whew. I've always liked McAlisters and was aghast at my last few experiences there. This time ordered to go, and while everything was good, they forgot to ask if I wanted salad dressing with the pecan chicken salad. They didn't ask, I didn't remember and they didn't include any dressing. The folks now are super friendly. I love that they carry gluten free bread - it makes the Memphian, a delicious treat. Wish they'd bring back saying "welcome to mcalisters" when I enter the restaurant. It used to be nice acknowledgement for entering their establishment. read more

I ordered 2 kids mac n cheeses to go. waited 25 min watching employs (all teenagers) on their phones and packing up their belongings an hour before they close. Yesterday went to McAlisters as we always do before movies with kids. Of course we order about the same so we know what it taste like !!! Ordered and food with delivered to table. Mac and cheese had brown all mixed in it and smelled terrible. took it back to counter and ask could I just get a spud. 8 child servers behind the counter and all most no customers . the servers looked puzzled and went into the small room(manager) came out and handed me a small spud. I said let me just pay for a large spud. this server told me no I would have to take the small one. I said you don't understand I will pay for the large one or the difference or another. she said no. I went back to table. one of the other kids ordered tomato soup and spud to be given 2 spuds???? so I got up again and went to counter and told them I did not order 2 spuds. tomato soup and spud. they all started laughing and child server handed me a plate and ask me to remover the other spud to the plate. I said with what my fingers he said yes. a customer standing their said you are going to throw it away don't do that. your child servers are still laughing. I picked it up and moved it to another plate and wondered who would be eating it next. would the lady beside me get the spud that I had removed with my fingers. were these child servers using their fingers in the food if they thought it was ok for me to do. the health department will have a field day with that... they put the soup on the plate and I just went and sat back down. the soup was so dark we thought it was chilie and smelled burnt also. Now the 3 little girls I have with me scream I turn and ask what is wrong they holler spider . servers were still laughing and my kids were uncomfortable and ready to go. I got up to get refills of tea and sprite and the manager walks out and you server whispers(very obvious) that is the lady. so manager ask do I need something..no not at this point. you did not think it was important and apparently found it funny my order was wrong and food was bad and I returned it. why would I want to speak to him now. This place has really gone downhill, I have been occasionally eating here for years but I've noticed it steadily declining in customer service and quality, and today was my last time here. Brought the family, ordered 3 meals, kids food didn't come out with ours (pre-made Mac & cheese). My wife's food was mediocre and my Memphian sandwiches bread was hard as a rock. I never send food back, but I couldn't choke this thing down. The food runner begrudgingly took it back, and I had to eventually go back to the counter to get my kids food along with the sour cream and butter my wife asked for 10 minutes prior. The manager brought my 'new' sandwich- which was literally the same components of my old sandwich with a new piece of bread- which sucked because now it was cold. Of course, this was not my complete order because they did not bring my spud, so I waited another 10 minutes for it while I took a few bites of my cold sandwich. I gave up on the shitty sandwich (see pics) and by the time my spud made it out the wife and kid were done eating, I voiced my discontent with the manager, but no solution was offered. Came to dine outside, because the day was nice and it was easier to social distance on the patio. We arrived and ordered at 1pm, and we even indicated to the lady taking our order that we would be outside. Unfortunately, McAlister's likes to fulfill their online orders before serving their customers dining in, so we had to wait 45 minutes for our food to reach our table. This was even after we went up to the counter twice to ask why our food hasn't arrived yet. When the food eventually got to our table, the order was wrong. My dad ordered the Southwest Turkey Melt, and what came out was a sandwich with just ham and roast beef on it. The waitress took it back and said she would get the correct sandwich for us. About 5 minutes later, she comes back outside and told my dad, "I don't know what you think you ordered, but that was the correct sandwich." My dad calmly responded, "The turkey melt comes with ham and roast beef?" The waitress then turned her back to us and muttered something under her breath and went back inside. A few minutes later, she came back out with the correct sandwich and apologized, but I'm pretty sure she just apologized for the inconvenience of waiting and not for the fact that she argued with my dad that the turkey melt came with roast beef and ham. I used this place to cater an even at FedEx for roughly 40 folks. I was told they would show up early to set up, rather, they showed up a few minutes late. Not a big deal. The lady called me and asked me to provide a cart for her to bring in the food? I was presenting in a meeting and had to go out and help find her a cart to bring in all the food. I was not happy as once again I was presenting and had to stop what I was going to go out and help her bring in the food? I pre-tipped this place so that I wouldn't have to help "bring in the food". Once the food was in the room the lady said thanks and tried to take off. I had to stop her and ask her to set up the food? Did she think I was going to break down the food and set it all up for her?? Again, Not happy with the set up process. Unprofessional. Even after she left I had to open up the bag of ice for consumption. Not a huge deal but my time is limited in this meeting and the time I spent setting up the food was less time I had to spend in selling to this account. On the bright side the food was pretty good. My wife and I have been to this business twice in the last few weeks. On the first visit, I could not get a Reuben because they were out of corned beef. On the second trip, just two days ago, they were out of carrot cake. The service was terrible. There was no one waiting on tables, so if you wanted a drink refill you had to go to the counter and ask for it. The kitchen employee didn't have any kind of plastic gloves and the place seems dirty.
