McAlister's is not a place I think to go to but whenever friends suggest it I'm pleased because I've found some excellent things here. The only downside for me is that it's not the kind of food you'd have leftovers of. Which is fine but it's one of the reasons I don't tend to think of this place because I love leftovers haha. I love doing the half and half so I can try more things. The menu changes frequently so the things on my to try or even in my review may not be in season or even exist anymore. But I have found enough stuff that I'm confident in coming here and trying stuff. I came here for a quick lunch. They had a great deal of choose 2 for 10.99. I got the pecan salad with the veggie chili. It was pretty darn good and really filling. It was a half salad but it had plenty of toppings. They veggie chili was hearty and comforting. We also had the club sandwich with fruit. The service was not too bad either just a quick ordering, choose your seat and then wait until they bring the food. The place was pretty clean too. read more

Living here for almost two years and we finally decided to try this place out. I would drive by it at least twice a week and always thought they weren't busy. When driving into the parking lot I seen it's hidden from the street behind bushes. As first timers there, the person taking out order at the counter was nice enough to give recommendations. I went with the Memphian with the chicken tortilla soup. My husband went with the Southwest Spicy chicken with broccoli cheddar soup. It reminds us of a few places we had back from where we moved from, but still different in their own way. The Memphian had great flavor and the meat combo was perfect blend. We will definitely be back to try more. read more

The service was fine. The food tastes fine. My issue is the skimpy sandwiches. I got a French dip. I posted a pic. I am no expecting a big pile of meat overflowing the bun so I do expect more that 2 little thin slices of meat. It make it a La Croix of sandwiches. Usually we hit the Jason's Deli after visiting my mothers grave. But none of us were hungry at the time so we hit here instead later in the day. Not too busy around noon on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Servers were nice. Plenty of seating. I liked the New Yorker over the Ruben. Both served hot and come with one side. Potato salad on the sour side. But I liked it over the tomato and cucumber salad. I'd probably pick Jason's next time, especially with their free self serve ice cream. But it was a good alternative to driving out to the grave site again just for a sandwich. read more

I ordered online because it is typically better for me to order, walk in, pick it up, and leave. I get there 15 minutes after the time of pickup because often times this place is a little more busy, especially on a Friday night. I was suprised to find when i went in maybe 10 customers total but the food was not in the pickup location. Im a pretty patient person so i sat down right next to the pickup location with my 2 year old and waited facing the counter. I waited an additional 15 minutes before I went up to the counter and told them I had a pick up. The food was bagged and sitting behind the counter. None of the employees who saw me waiting there had the foresight to ask if I was waiting for an online pickup order. I mean I clearly looked in the cubby several times and they had to have known. Feeling pretty peeved about this lack of customer service. If you are going to have a pickup location for online orders then use it. If not, then make it known that everyone should just go to the counter. The food was good otherwise but the workers need some remediation training on procedure or at least pay attention to your customers. read more

I was surprised to see this McAlisters rated so low until we visited. Today we stopped and ordered and after a long wait (staffing did not match demand) we got our food which included soup. When we asked for a spoon they told us they did not have any. When we persisted they found a box of them. We then asked for napkins and the response was to go get some off a table. I really love McAlister's menu. Of all the deli style restaurants, it has always been my favorite. If I want a soup, salad, or potato, I always come here. There are only two issues with this place. First, no matter what I order for my husband, he is never impressed. He goes for the different sandwiches and is always still hungry. So I try not to come here if I am feeding both of us. Second (and the main issue), is that there is no control or review process over orders. If you are eating in, this is not an issue but it is always an issue on to go orders. I always pull out each item and it never fails. I will be missing a salad dressing, side item, something. I have learned that this is an issue so I check my orders beforehand and correct it before I leave. The managers need to start hiring or instilling some of that Chick-fil-A attitude in their employees, because it is clear that they do not give a darn. (Actually after reading some other reviews..... maybe the franchise owner needs to hire some new managers.) read more

It's time to do an updated and more in-depth review because things change here with management and staff so here goes. Today's visit was very pleasant and the young folks behind the counter, in the kitchen and food deliverer were on the ball, and it pretty busy so thumbs up. The place was neat and ran and everything was well stocked so another check mark. My soup and salad were good and man that pimento cheese BLT was really terrific. I thoroughly enjoyed lunch with my sweetheart today before having to leave town and we agreed that we will put Mcalister's back in our regular rotation for lunch spots. I put the poster up for the pimento cheese specials and trust me when I tell you that the pimento cheese is really tasty. I practically grew up on the stuff and I am pretty picky about the flavor. It's cheesey and has a rich flavor and it's the real deal. PLUS they gave us 20% off because we'rr both Navy vets, so hey all you vets make sure to sound off to get your deal. read more

I ordered on the app for pick up and I still waited in the line for 30 minutes. Once home, I realized they completely made my spicy southwest sandwich wrong. All that's on it is chicken and cheese. No roasted corn or avocado... This location always has a long lines and slow service. UPDATE: I decided to give collierville McAlister's a chance to redeem themselves as it is my favorite restaurant in any other city but this one. I ordered a Spicy Southwest Chicken Sandwich once again. They remembered the avocado! But they put it on the wrong bun, still didn't have corn relish, and after one bite I knew I couldn't finish it because these green hues on my sandwich aren't from jalapeños...?? This place has improved a lot recently, around 5 years ago was the last time before this I had eaten there and there was good reason, it was completely nasty and the food was mediocre, there were literally ants living under the tables. I'm never quite sure what to make of McAllister's. From time to time I'll want a kicked-up sandwich, which is their specialty, and decide to go. I always get something tasty and reasonably quick. It's fast casual style, order, get a number, and they bring it out. The menu has a lot of choices, plus plenty of sides and desserts. And yet I always walk away just slightly unsatisfied. I haven't quite pinpointed why, but some of the time I feel I paid just a bit too much for what I got. Other times I feel the decor just doesn't work. Very disappointed with this Mcalister's. I called in an order and received molded bread bowl. That is very unacceptable. I asked the lady if my nacho appetizer was in bag and she said "yes, it's in the bottom of the bag." I trusted she knew since she bagged it. After getting home, found that it was not in the bag. I have lived and eaten at this location for as long as they have opened the doors. It appears they have a hard time hiring good management. I will not be eating at this location again. 8/3/2020 - Well, the Collierville "restaurant" has officially sunk to the level of the Germantown location, which is the absolute worst McAlisters I have ever seen. I didn't think it would be possible for it to get that bad. My most recent visit on 7/30 is proof of bad ownership, bad management, bad staff, etc. I ordered a meal to go for my family which included two French Dips, which did not include the gravy. That is what makes it a French Dip. Without that, it is just a roast beef sandwich. My kids were extremely disappointed. The rest of the meal was supposed to be hot, or at least warm by the time I made it home. Instead, it was all cold, like it had never been heated to begin with. We had to heat everything in the microwave which alters the taste and texture of the food. Also, I requested pickle spears since my kids like those as well. I rec'd none. I am highly disappointed since I paid for things I did not receive. I see no need to return to this or any McAlisters due to the fact that they are no longer worthy of my paying my hard-earned money to them. I challenge management/owners to contact me about this, but I doubt they have the decency to do so. I expect a full refund for this so-called meal. Went to McAlisters today in Collierville and was sorely disappointed. Ordered the veggie chili which used to be wonderful, thick and great tasting. Today it was like chili water with about 15 beans in it. I don't know how they can look you in the eye and serve you this. They didn't even give me the 2 pkgs of crackers they used to give. Honestly, what is going on with this. It's a total scandalous rip off. If the regional mgr reads this, please tell this location to stop scamming the customers. We ordered take out. When we arrived the doors were locked. This was 8pm on Thursday evening. Hours of operation indicate closing time of 9pm. Staff person leaving did go back in and find our takeout order but did not offer any explanation or apology for the early closing. We won't be going back!!!!! read more
