My friend and I decided to meet here for lunch on a Sunday at 11:30. The woman working the counter was very nice and helpful. When looking for a place to sit, the entire restaurant was empty and we wanted to sit on the side where there were booths. However, we couldn't sit there because the section was roped off and it looked like the employees were using the space for themselves since a cell phone was plugged in and sitting on the table. So, my friend and I picked a space on the other side of the restaurant. That's when we noticed how dirty the place was to the point of it being disgusting. The napkin holders were covered in dust as were the edges of the seating areas. The floor was covered with dirt and crumbs. There were even cobwebs under some of the chairs. We decided to stay since catching up with each other was more important and the table itself seemed clean. The employee brought out our food, which I forgot to take a photo of since I was creeped out by the condition of the place. Although my veggie sandwich was good, my friend took one bite of her soup and it wasn't even warm. We will not be returning to this location. read more

This is a chain like Panera but way worse. I'm not sure if it's just this location, but the food was equivalent to hospital food, maybe slightly worse. The pickle looked like it had been sitting at the bottom of the jar for months and the Mac and cheese was cold and only partially full. I can't believe I paid extra for it! Today was the first time we went to this restaurant and we were very pleasantly surprised. I ordered the McAllister Club with sea salt chips and my husband ordered the Italian with sea salt chips. The young man at the counter was helpful and very kind. In fact he came and collected our dishes when we were done and stood and talked to us about a few of the menu items. He introduced us to the manager Nick who was also super kind. We chatted with him for about 5 minutes and we thought he was very enjoyable to talk with. The meals were very good, everything tasted fresh and no skimping on ingredients. The restaurant only had a few people in it but it was clean and all the tables had chairs and looked nice. Lighting was perfect and we figured most of their business was pick up or drive thru. We will definitely go back because I really want to try their spud. I'm a customer and I DoorDash for the location. There's so much to see always clean great location, personalities of the employees and management our way above the rest. Always a smile always a greeting, very family oriented. NICK : is the TM for location. Nick every time I've gone in has shown happiness that I have arrived made me feel comfortable always has a chair for me to sit down while waiting for the order offers a drink, if I am thirsty while waiting. Nick explains the process let you know how long it will be talks with you while you're waiting and make sure that everybody is happy. I hope the Corporate sees us knows that Nick is keeping the business open. He keeps the clientele coming back and should be advanced within the corporation. A spur of the moment dinner decision lead us to try out this place. We've passed by endless times and have wanted to try it out and finally got the chance. Walking in on a Sunday evening I was pleasantly surprised to find out it was Kids Eat Free night (Saturdays and Sundays). So we got a free kids meal for each of the adult meals we ordered. We ordered two pick 2 meals, the portions didn't seem smaller because there were two items (which sometimes I feel the portions are small at like a Corner or Panera). One pick 2 had the Italian (the half sandwich alone was enough for the meal) and the Black Angus club. Both sandwiches were decent sized and tasty. The bread was nicely toasted and even the wheat bread on the club wasn't that bad either. I'm usually a white bread only on certain types of sandwiches, but this club passed the test. The kids meals weren't all that bad either. One we ordered the roll up with a side of fruit and the other had a grilled cheese with a side of Mac and cheese. The portions were kid sized. The grilled cheese though I'd say wasn't that greasy. The Mac and cheese wasn't all that appealing looking but didn't taste that bad. But hey both of these meals were free so a win in my book and the kids seemed to like them. So overall a decent place to grab a bite and an added bonus of you have kids in tow on the weekends. I would like to start with I tried to resolve this - on 5 separate dates I either tried to call the guest relations # given to me or I spoke with an Enterprise Manager by the name of Ryan Showerman. After I spoke with Ryan (on 2 different occasions) - I still received no resolution/follow-up. On 3/21/24 my spouse and I were headed to the botanical gardens for an exhibit and on a whim stopped at this location - having never been to a McAllister's before. The place was deserted (at dinnertime on a Thur). Whiled we were trying to decide, we got to listen to foul mouth central in the kitchen. (When we remarked on this later - we were told the cook was having a bad day). We ordered our food - a grilled chicken club and a reuben. The reuben was lukewarm at best, not toasted, had a condiment on it that it was not supposed and the meat was a giant ball in the middle of the bread. The club had almost no chicken and almost like spoonfuls of mayo on it. Someone came over after about 15 min to see how we were - still the only people in the restaurant - and when we explained, he went and got someone else, who offered to remake the sandwiches, but by then we had no time. They did not offer a refund or a GC. Because of this and the way my post experience with McAllister's corp guest relations (what a joke!) has been, our 1st experience with McAllister's deli will be our last. I hope that anyone who takes the time to read this will also think twice about frequenting this corporation. read more

Visited this store for lunch on 3.25.23 with a group of 11 people. Being from Texas I had confidence in prior experience with McAlisters! This was the WORST experience ever! The tomato bisque soup looked like leftover burnt chili slop from the week before! When I asked the Manager if he would exchange it he replied, "I don't have time to change it". Soon after another person complained about the same soup, he exchanged it right away! The food and service was less than acceptable. I would avoid this location like a plague! read more

Great food, excellent service. My only issue is the cheap plastic silverware. They put so much into the quality of the restaurant, yet they go cheap on the silverware. It's not just here, it's at most McAllisters. Please, upgrade the silverware - at least plastic that doesn't break immediately once you use it. read more

Came here for lunch yesterday. Overall it was a good experience. I decided to go for the Black Angus King Club. Ordering a king means double the meat and it really is a gigantic sandwich. Definitely will fill you up. The sandwich as a whole was good. Roast beef was tasty and the other ingredients seemed fresh. Would get it again. I decided to upgrade my side for the sandwich and went with Mac n cheese. It was alright, but I was really disappointed with the amount I got especially in the size of the cup it came in. Barely even half fill. Overall though the service was good. Friendly people at the counter and they brought the food to my table in a prompt manner. The Sweet Ice Tea was solid. Definitely would get that again on its own. Place was well kept and clean. Plenty of seating here from booths and table options. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. McAlister's has a nice broad menu, options aren't super interesting, but good stuff all around. I got the BLT+A with potato salad. It was excellent and exceeded my expectations. Came here and got some food to go. Not amazing but not awful. My boyfriend got the half spud and soup combo. He likes the Black Angus potato and the broccoli cheddar soup. I ordered the ultimate nachos. When I got back and unpacked all the food, I realized that my nachos needed full assembly. I had a to-go box with a few chips in there and FIVE separate containers of nacho toppings (chili, cheese/olive/tomato/jalapeno mix, melted queso dip, sour cream, and avocado) that I had to assemble myself. It was really awkward. Everything tasted fine but I didnt want to do 95% of the work myself. We also made sure to bring the tea cups! If you go to McAllisters and buy the big plastic reusable cup (about 32 oz...might be more than that) for $9.99 you can get tea refills for 99 cents. read more

It's in a funky location that can't really be seen from busy Lake-Crook road in front of the Home Depot. Yes I said Crook, if you live here you'd understand but I digress. The GOOD: Big roomy place with no crowd at 6:30 in the evening. The iced tea is excellent and the strawberry mix just enhanced it. So too the Lemonade tea. The potato salad is the best store-bought I've had;I'd easily stop in on the way to Ravinia and take-out enough for a picnic. I was suspicious of the "Ro-Tel" cheese nacho dip but it was tasty even if the chips had enough salt to float a cruiser. The BAD: The young lady serving us either had other things on her mind or trouble taking and then keeping orders straight. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that had obviously been microwaved so the bread was limp and tasteless. My companion's Chef's salad was similarly limp and uninteresting and the honey mustard dressing so hot it left her tongue burning. The UGLY: How do you turn pickles tasteless? I'll come back and try one of their spuds...or just enjoy the potato salad. But this won't replace Panera as my go-to deli. read more

McAlister's has been such an epic addition to sandwich places in the area. It's conveniently located near things like Home Depot and Jewel. I think I've primarily gotten a BLT with avocado every time we've ordered from here. And every time it's a solid 10 of a sandwich. It's classic and perfect. Bacon is just the right amount of crisp, and size. It's not thick bacon, but it's not sad floppy bacon either. I think I preferred the guacamole on the sandwich more than the avocado, and their guacamole is on point too. Not spicy and thus mucking up the sandwich. Guacamole is smooth with avocado niblets still in there to let you know that it's definitely real avocado. Loving the bread as well, absolute perfect toasting. Basically I'm saying if you want a definitive BLT, this is where you should go. No discussions needed. The dill pickles that accompany every sandwich are quite good, though I've noticed some variation in them. One thing boyfriend and I discovered was mixing the veggie chili, with the meat chili, to get mind-blowing, eyes-rolling-back-in-head, chili. Veggie chili is super veggie, and the meat chili is super meaty, so mixing them together, aawwwwws yes. I've only recently started really getting into chili, and now boyfriend doesn't try bringing flowers, but instead he'll bring me McAlister's mixed chili. I would be remiss to omit talking about the tea. Of course the sweet tea is a must have. It's surprisingly not cloyingly sweet. Typically when I have had southern sweet tea I've braced for my teeth to hurt. Here we have sweetness, but nothing crazy. Employees are always pleasant, and the Deerfield location is always very neat, and tables cleared and wiped down. I could see that this place wouldn't appeal to miserable bastards who have bizarro expectations, but if you just want a dang good sandwich and wicked delicious chili with some sweet tea to win awards, this is where you need to go. read more

This place has incredibly good sandwiches fantastic salads including the Southwest which is one of my favorites an excellent baked potatoes stuffed with all the goodies you generally love to put on a baked potato. They do a tremendous lunch business and dinner business and the nice thing is they actually bring your meal to the table. And you actually get to eat off of real silverware. The service and the food are both incredibly good. Food extremely fresh and delicious. The service is extremely attentive to all your needs. Most locations I've tried are all identical to this location, however this location is definitely my favorite. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood, McAlister's! I've had McAlister's on two other occasions, while on a road trip, and was quite pleased by their sandwiches and iced tea. The quality at this location seems up to the same standard, and I'm looking forward to trying even more of their menu. I love me a good sandwich. I own shirts with pictures of sandwiches on them, a good number of my social media photos feature me with sandwiches, and I dream of 'em in my sleep. There are a lot of delis in the area, but - surprisingly - most of them are just good (with a few rare exceptions). I can often make a better sandwich at home. I miss all of the good sandwich options I used to have when I lived in Chicago. McAlister's has become the newest of my sandwich oases, in a seeming desert of quality delis in the north 'burbs. They have pretty decent cold-cuts... Not a premium name-brand, but still good stuff. The magic is in the assembly and toppings. They have excellent bread, they pile the veggies on nice n' high, and have a super-herbaceous dressing that come together to form the sandwich equivalent of Voltron on my taste buds. These go above the usual sandwiches that most of the other local delis serve up, and are straight up "sammiches." I'm making it a mission to try most of their menu, as it looks like they have some real winners. Their iced tea is also really good. I don't have a fancy palate, by any means, but their tea has a very good strong leafy black tea taste that is lacking on most other restaurant iced teas. For lack of a better way to describe it; their tea just reminds me of the quality no-holds-barred iced tea I expect in Memphis. I added their app to my phone, so I can easily order online, and then pick up at their carry-out window. McAlister's is a welcome addition to the list of places to eat in Deerfield, and they're open a little later than some of the other delis in the area. read more

This is the second time I have been to McAlisters in a week. The food is fresh and tastes great. The first time I came I ordered the Southwest Turkey Melt. This time I ordered the French Dip. Huge portions. Came to about 11 bucks with a drink so reasonable. So why the 4 stars? I deducted 1 star because of slowness. They just aren't efficient. To me it seems a lack of training and/or efficiency. The first time I ordered to go and it took 13 minutes. There were very few people in the place and I was the only person at the counter. Today when I walked in there was a couple that walked in ahead of me and one family waiting for their food at a booth. I waited about 10 minutes to order while 2 people (very nice) waited on the couple. The entire time I noticed food sitting at the station ready to take out. They were just not efficient in taking orders. When I finally ordered and sat down they noticed the food ready to take out... 13 minutes after it was put up. I'm bumping this up to four stars. First off, that BLT is really good. The service has improved significantly over the past few months. What really pushed this up, though, is that KIDS EAT FREE (off the kids menu) on Saturdays and Sundays. I think you have to buy an adult meal per kids meal, but that's fine. This whole concept makes me really happy, as it means that I don't either have to spend money on more food than my 1 year old can possibly eat OR base my order on the limited foods she can/will eat and then share my food with her. They have good food! They really do. But they can not get a take out order done correctly for the life of them. The last straw I had was when a group of us ordered a chicken sandwich without cheese through Grub Hub. The added cheese to the dish. We called Mc Alister's back, but the only way we could get good resolution was to re-order the dish and get charged a second delivery fee, and get charged for the order again. The delivery fee was not waived or picked up by Mc Alister's. We had also ordered from them a month earlier and had the same kind of experience. I'm glad they opened up since Teddy Fabz closed down. They are a franchise like Panera but I like that they offer so many ways you can have a sandwich, salad, soup, chili or potato. They are known for their sweet tea and they have 1/2 & 1/2 options available too. I really like their New York and Reuben sandwiches and they were very helpful since I wasn't a bacon lover they offered a substitute of avocado which was even better! McCalister's is our out-shopping, go-to place to have lunch. They are clean and fast and near Home Depot and Northbrook Court. I like that you have lots of choices for sandwich combos. The iced tea is better than from most self-serve jugs. We usually get sandwiches, stuffed spuds, and salads. The sandwiches are always good. The salads are fresh and yummy. The spuds can be decadent or healthy, but they're all good. There are so many healthy options for when we are on a diet too. The folks there are always friendly and attentive. Red Roof Inn is $29. Ritz Carlton is $29. Which do you choose? With all of the real deli's within a few miles of here, I have no idea why anybody would come here rather than Max's, Max and Benny's, Once upon a bagel. They clearly advertise that they use Butterball products. I don't think this is a good selling point. Maybe in rural Iowa, but in the North Shore of Chicago, I don't think this is a plus. The place has no ambience, like going to a dull Panera. The food tasted OK. For comparison, the food at Denny's tastes OK. This is a great place. Much better than any other sandwich shop like potbellys. Much more extensive menu. A little pricey but the only cheap place is subway. 3.50 sub of the day. But this is way better than any 3.50 sub at crappy subway. I came opening day and was impressed. I had the mcallisters club (hold the lettuce and tomato) and chips. They gave me the full fat chips but gladly exchanged It for the low fat ones. And today I tried the king club with mac and cheese. The king was too big to finish so I took half home and ate it for dinner. But they were very nice and I did not even have to get up. One guy brought me a box and another one asked if I wanted a free refill on my soda ( which was huge BTW). They only have one size but it free refills. And its more than enough for 1 person. Haven't been to a McAlisters in forevs. This one was quick..it was busy but the guy working never seemed overwhelmed or in a rush. The food was good and the chili was nice and hot. They got me my extras. Very very clean establishment. Came to eat here before hopping on the public transportation on the July 4th. Great spot for a yummy quick bite! read more

This is the second McAlister's I have visited. Inevitably it gets compared to the one in Vernon Hills. The food and layout are fairly similar to that in places like Jason's Deli. The food we had on our visit was familiar from having the same in Vernon Hills. In both cases we had half the New Yorker sandwich and I had the cherry spinach salad and my wife had the tortilla soup. In each case the food was quite good and, as part of the choose two option, very reasonably priced. The downside is that the staff seemed relatively unhappy to be there. In our case the person taking the Order ahead of us then walked away from the register while I was standing there and never returned. This is quite a contrast from the Vernon Hills location where everybody is super helpful and much happier. read more
