It's been a bit since I have been to McAllister's.. I was not impressed by how slow and complicated the order taking process took. This was actually very frustrating. But we got through it. I found the menu to be very accommodating. There is something for everyone. The pick 2 option is excellent and value orientated. This facility is very large. It would make a great option for a large party of 10-12 people in which you didn't have a reservation made in advance. I selected the half Horseradish Roast Beef & Cheddar Cheese sandwich and half Cobb salad. The sandwich was very tasty. The roast beef was moist and tender. There was a moderate amount of it along with the cheese - not over board and overflowing. The horseradish taste was mild. The cob salad was really a real salad. There was plenty of meats and toppings for a half salad. The salad was very fresh and tasty. The McAllister made honey mustard dressing was mild, thick with a bit of a tart bite. read more

When spending the weekend in Ft. Wayne we wanted a familiar, reliable place for Lunch. McAlister's was close to our hotel, so that was easy. We walked into a slightly down-home country atmosphere with vintage signs and décor on the walls. The menu is rather extensive, with salads, hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and spuds. Yes, baked potato entrees. VERY COOL and unique! Behind the counter had the 3 large iced tea containers, one each unsweet, sweet, and green. Each one said "Brewed multiple times a day for your multiple free refills". Clever touch! I decided on the Jalapeño Turkey Crunch. My wife had, basically, a corned beef and swiss. Delivery times were very reasonable, and our food was brought out on real plates, not paper or plastic. And a metal fork. You don't realize how many times you eat with paper and plastic until you're given the real stuff. My sandwich was warm (grilled) and fresh, and tasted great. My wife's also. The potato salad (my side) was pretty unremarkable (it was potato salad, after all). As we ate the staff visited a couple time to see how everything was, and if they could get us anything. They were even kind enough to get us one of our multiple free refills of iced tea. The staff was very pleasant and kept busy. The restaurant was kept clean, and tables were cleaned almost immediately after they were emptied. This is probably the largest McAlister's we've ever been to, and I'm glad to see all of the COVID precautions in place and being followed by staff members (customers not so much, as I saw quite a few patrons wearing chin diapers). read more

Update; went here for my bday lunch it was super busy long line behind us and I went to pay and my card kept declining. I was freaking out. I explained to the supervisor Cayden, that I didn't have any other way to pay and will have to cancel the order. Not only did he say no but asked if it was my bday since I said so earlier and I showed him my license and he pulled out his own credit card and paid the tab. I was brought to tears. I shook his hand and thanked him. He was a young man too with a huge heart that made my day. I immediately talked to the manager then contacted their HR department. I also posted on FB. I found myself at McAlister's Deli this week, I gave 3 stars, but I feel 3.5 would be more accurate. The NW Fort Wayne location is rather large, as it was formerly another eatery. Since the location is so large, they make perfect use of all the space. To the left of the front entrance, you'll see plentiful outdoor seating. The ambiance seems to be relaxed and inviting. The seats aren't squished close together, there is a nice amount of spacing between tables. Most of the seating is covered, only a few tables, around the periphery, are uncovered. Soft rock music plays from the mounted speakers inside and outside, making me almost nostalgic for my teen years. Journey, Rick Springfield, Bruce Springsteen- their play list is enviable. The setting: inviting and large, plenty of seating. The staff: one of the most engaging staff's I've encountered in quite sometime. The food: it was good, not great, but very good. I had the spud(the biggest baked potatoes I've ever seen) with broccoli, cheese, and bacon. It's so large, it could easily be split 3 ways. Y'all know I don't share, as a rule, you eat your plate and let me eat mine, this time I split 3 ways. It was delicious and filling. A little more cheese would have been a hit, but it was good. Went in for lunch at 11:30 on Tuesday 12th. Since there was only one cashier but 4 other people behind the count it took 25 min to get through line. Then my Caesar Salad with chicken came out as a regular grilled chicken with extra Caesar salad dressing along with the balsamic dressing already on the salad. . avoid alt all costs. ....... read more

The biggest problem with this location is inconsistent food. There are times when the sandwiches and sides are as shown in the menu. Our last recent order (Avacado BLT) there wasn't enough avacado to cover the bread; the bacon was under cooked and rubbery; the sides of potato salad didn't even fill the container half way. Even worse, the management didn't care enough to return my call about the meal. read more

Bad service whated 10 min for food store was empty had to go up and get ate food cold

i have a fixation on the garden turkey sandwich that comes with roasted turkey, spinach, swiss cheese, avacado, tomato, balsamic vinegar, and vinaigrette. yesterday i went to the jefferson location and it was awesome so good 10/10 but i went to the lima one today and it wish hadn't. there was lettuce instead of spinach, no cheese, and no avacado on the sandwich. and you get a pickle with the meal and idk what was wrong with it but it wasn't good tasted awful, not like a dill pickle lol. employees were really nice but outside an old lady yelled at me (i know that has nothing to do with the sandwich or review but i needed to get it off my chest) idk if today was an off day or if they're making all the sandwiches unlike the recommended but i don't think ill be visiting here again. jefferson location does an awesome job tho and the food is prepared correctly and taste so good. read more

Had a club sandwich. Bread stale. Pretty slim pickens for a club which by traditional club standards should be stacked high. Really dry until I loaded it with mayo which came in foil packs. The lettuce wilted. Wife had the same, but left about half on the plate. Certainly not a meal that I would look forward to having again. Think it was around $32 or so for two. I'm a big fan of McAlister's Deli. I showed up to this location while on the road 15 minutes before they closed. They did everything you would hope of a location prior to closing. Asked if it was dine in or carry out even though you know deep down they wish it was carry out. Food was freshly prepared, I was not rushed and they were courteous. McCalister's consistently seems to bring quality food and a nice lunch / café atmosphere together for an all around great choice for lunch with a buddy or a business meeting with the boss. The prices are pretty reasonable (little high of anything). The menu consists of a wide variety of sandwiches, soups, wraps, and even some cookies for dessert! Recently I have been ordering the Grilled Chicken Ceasear Wrap with a bowl of soup. The ordering process is similar to Culver's (if you've ever been there). Go up to the counter, order, get a number, wait until the server brings the food. Meanwhile they do have a condiment bar with crackers and pickles to keep you occupied (if you're into that). This particular location is usually cleaner and nicer than the other in town but both are very nice. Employees are helpful for the most part, although flagging them down after they bring the food can be a hassel sometimes. All in all if you're looking to eat typical café lunch styled food with a modern atmosphere, McCalister's is a safe bet! read more

Well this used to be a really nice restaurant before COVID hit. Everytime it just gets worse, this time I ordered the chicken and dumplings. I sat down waited for my food and it was given to me in a togo cardboard cup. My friend got a sandwich that was drowned in mustard (which wasn't asked for), and the man who looked to be the manager. I love McCallister's Deli. The spuds and sweet tea are my favorites on the menu. The great thing about McCallister's is the diversity of the menu, freshness of food and price point. Last night I strayed away from my go to items and went with 1/2 French Dip and 1/2 chopped salad. The French dip was good, not my favorite. The salad was fantastic and super fresh and crunchy. My kids ordered mac n cheese from the kids meal. The portion size is beyond ridiculous. It was literally 3 spoonfuls in the small bowl. It was accompanied by an applesauce cup and cinnamon graham crackers. My kids ended up eating some of my dinner. Stopped here on Super Bowl Sunday to get some food for the game. We weren't sure what to expect as far as how busy it was, but there were hardly any customers there. The interior is nice and well kept. It's your typical big-chain kind of environment. My food was delicious and I loved the portion size. I didn't feel overly full when I was done. I ordered the Horseradish Roast Beef & Cheddar with macaroni and cheese. The sandwich was amazingly good, and the mac & cheese was gooey and creamy. The reason this got 3 stars was the service. I felt like the employees weren't very enthusiastic. I don't expect them to do back flips and offer to name their first born children after me, but a smile and greeting would be nice. We were brought the wrong food at first, and they seemed really unorganized. Maybe it was because they were excited about the Super Bowl? Or maybe not. Who knows? We might come back. So happy to have this McAlister's open on the northwest side of Fort Wayne. The location is well situated on a busy intersection, surrounded by shopping and home building stores. The Décor is typical McAlisters but has ample indoor and outdoor seating. A separate room with several TVs for sporting event viewing. The menu is also the standards McAlister's fare: sandwiches, soups, spuds, salads, monster cookies and Iced Tea abound! The staff here has always been friendly with us and seem to do a pretty good job turning around orders even during peak lunch hours (taking into consideration its PEAK time). You can usually count on a manager or server to stop by and check on your experience, or refil a drink after your meal has arrived. We'll continue returning to this location as long as food and service quality continue to be good. read more

Went in around 8 pm for a late dinner. Service was good, very friendly. Lots of menu options. I ordered the summer special sandwich, BLT with avocado. Bread was quite thin and flattened. There was a proper amount of bacon but they were quite stingy with the avocado. Their chip selection was pretty lame as well, just a few different type of small bags, Doritos, Lays, etc. I took the coleslaw and it was iffy. I asked for Dr Pepper and they were out. Every time we go there we're waiting on our order, the cashier is rude or not educated on the menu, the crew is playing around. It's unfortunate. We've tried the location on Lima Rd. time and time again but the service falls short each time. We will give Jefferson Pointe a try next time and if it calls short then we'll know it's a lack of skill set the company is paying for. The food is great! read more

I WILL NOT GO BACK HERE NOR DO I RECOMMEND IT. I have never been here before and my friends said McAlister's had really good food and ice tea so I wanted to try it. We meaning my friend and I came around noon for lunch. We had to wait in line to order for a bit but when we sat down for our food, it was a different story. We sat down and WAITED OVER AN HOUR for our food to come. My friend went up and asked when our food was going to come out around 45 minutes after we sat down. They told her that they were putting the food on our plates so we thought we were getting our food in a couple of minutes. NOPE 20 minutes later and we were STILL sitting at the table without food. We saw people behind us leaving because they were done eating. So we both went up and complained to the manager. She gave us our money back and asked if we wanted a refill on our iced tea and we took it. While she was helping us, there was a mom asking for dressing and she was complaining and yelling at the people working there because she was standing there at the counter for 15 minutes JUST FOR SOME DRESSING. Why was she waiting 15 minutes just for some dressing?!!! Now that's ridiculous and horrible. I heard her say " I've been waiting here for 15 f-ing minutes just for some dressing and my toddler is getting mad." So then the manager that was helping us, went over and gave her the dressing. ITS NOT THAT HARD TO GET SOME DRESSING. it only takes one second but they can't even do that. The manager I could tell was getting upset at the workers because they weren't moving along fast enough. This was our first visit to his McAlisters Deli, and it will not be our last. The sandwiches and soup were great. The staff was fantastic from the moment we walked in. My wife and I stopped here for a sandwich and some soup. Everything was good, the service is always pleasant and quick. My wife unfortunately bit into some paper that was in the sandwich, from the cheese. She wasn't mad or grossed out, because things happen, it wasn't a big deal. She took up the sandwich, and the manager was super nice about the situation. We weren't looking for a free meal, but he gave us our money back for her sandwich anyway, and the kitchen staff made her a new sandwich. We were super happy with the service and really weren't mad that we found that paper in the sandwich. We understand things happen. Thanks Mcalister's for the awesome service! I'm a McAlister's loyalist - I've rented a car and driven an hour to get to the closest one my me in Chicago because the Chicken Tortilla Soup is always worth it. This location on Lima in Fort Wayne has me actually questioning it all. I called in an order for three quarts of soup at 11:45am and sat for exactly an hour in the to-go parking while four different associates came to check the name on the order, gave food to three other customers who arrived significantly after me, as well as to the dine-in customers. One couple actually showed up after me, ordered, sat down, received and finished their food, then left while I waited. Conveniently, yesterday I waited for a cup of soup and a grilled cheese for another 45 minutes only to have those around me served while they lost my order. But hey, at least they gave me a free tea for my trouble. I'm powerless to their soup so I'll be back but will plan way in advance next time! read more

Time after time I don't receive all the items I order. Tonight I ordered a orange cranberry club, a cookie with a drink. There was no cookie, no drink, no pickle and no avocado on the sandwich. I'll be calling them in the morning for a refund. This just happens too often. read more

Reading McAlister's description of their business on their website is illuminating, because shows the wide gulf between how they see themselves and how customers see them after visiting their restaurant for the first time. I was a customer for the first time, and this is how my experience differed from what they claim on their site: Genuine Hospitality--My husband and I weren't even greeted when we entered, or when we were about to place our order. Big Smiles--No employee ever smiled at us. Sandwiches--The Perfect Mouthful, Every Mouthful--The roast beef on my beef and cheddar was flavorless and overwhelmed with horseradish sauce and cheddar cheese. The one time when the meat was noticeable was when I got a bit of gristle in my mouth. The Reuben is my husband's favorite sandwich, and he orders one any time he sees it on the menu at a new restaurant. He took one bite, and shook his head sadly, chewed, swallowed, and just said, "Nope." The bread was dry and verging on stale. It had not been properly grilled. Opposite of the issue with my sandwich, there was hardly any cheese, but the sandwich was overwhelmed with sauerkraut. The cheese wasn't even melted. Big Portions--Our side items--potato salad that was drowning in mayo and about two spoonfuls of cold mac and cheese--were served in small portions, but that was okay with us, because they weren't very good.... One line item was true to advertising: they really did come by and refill our drinks without us having to get up. But, a restaurant advertising that is kind of like a hotel advertising having beds or bathrooms--it is expected, and shouldn't be considered an amenity. My Dad was from the East Coast, and I've experienced many genuine New York delis. I don't understand how McAlister's gets away with posing as one with quality this bad... or why anyone would return for a repeat experience. read more
