Arrived about 1:30. When entering we noticed 75% of the tables covered with dirty dishes My husband suggested we leave, but oh no, I was hungry for corned beef. We ordered the NYer. We asked for horseradish. After the unwelcoming order, I also asked for a gallon of tea. I was questioned if I was sure and I confirmed yes and she reluctantly fill the container and slammed it on the counter We paid, over $30 and went to find a seat. Not an easy task Our food came and it was a shock. The meat did not fill the slice of bread. It looked like beef from a cheap package of grocery meat. A slice of processed cheese and mayonnaise with horseradish. I love coming to McAlisters for the Veggie sandwich! As someone who doesn't eat meat, I appreciate this veggie option that is filling and has fresh produce. Other places have vegetarian sandwiches that are simply sad. I used the app to place a pickup order and when I picked it up, the place was packed for a Wednesday afternoon! I've never seen this place so crowded. Although my order wasn't ready by the estimated time, I only waited about 5 minutes for my food. Considering how busy they were, I didn't mind at all. P.s. I'm a solid fan of McAlister's Deli, a national chain with over 500 restaurants in 28 states. The chain has grown fairly rapidly from its Oxford, Mississippi roots first established in 1989. McAlister's is generally known for healthier fare, though certainly you can get a bit decadent. This location is just south of 96th Street directly of Meridian Street in what is mostly a business area with some apartments surrounding it and residential areas to the east and west. McAlister's has deli items, shareables, sandwiches, soups, salads, sides, a few desserts, and beverages. McAlister's is very known for its tea that is Rainforest Alliance certified black tea sweetened with pure cane sugar (you can, and I do, get unsweetened). I typically get the Black Angus Club sandwich. My side is usually a variation of chips (they don't do fries here). I always get a large unsweetened iced tea here. This location does have a self-serve kiosk for its beverages (though I will acknowledge they got me my first serving - likely related to my being a wheelchair user). This location is on the ground floor of an office building with entrances on two sides. There's an entrance that has two accessible spots directly in front of it. When I can, this is where I park. It has an appropriate curb cut and is easily accessible. The entryway is a double-sided glass door. You go forward and order at the counter (you can actually order online and there are numbers on the tables). If you order at the counter (I typically do), they give you a number and bring your food to you. This is a fairly typical decor for McAlister's - warm, somewhat intimate, and a lot of focus on wood and more neutral but warm colors. There's a combination of booths and tables and it's fairly easy to find an accessible table here. I nearly always order my sandwich without horseradish and I've never had an issue with my special order. I don't think I've ever gotten an incorrect order at any McAlister's - not even with delivery. They do have a rewards club and you get a free tea just for joining (it does involve downloading an app). I was here on a Sunday. It was relatively calm, though the post-church crowd did seem to be arriving. Employees were friendly and helpful. I will admit I'm not fond of the credit card machines that suggest a tip - I get it, but meals here are already a bit higher than a lot of places and especially with the self-serve kiosk there's no real "service" happening. This was a solid experience. It was definitely not my favorite McAlister's spot, however, the food was good, the employees friendly, and the prices on par with other locations. My boyfriend was fond of a different location from many years back when he lived in the area so we came for lunch. They're located in a shopping center with tons of parking. It's very large and cleans inside. They have plenty of seating both inside and out. It's really cold inside, even though it was so hot outside I had to get my sweater after being inside for only a few minutes. The lady working at the counter had a bit of an attitude...she wasn't friendly at all, didn't smile and didn't make any eye contact. It felt uncomfortable. It was a Monday afternoon and not busy at all. My boyfriend and I both order the loaded spuds. They were just o-k. We didn't finish and had no desire to take the leftovers. This location has a huge outdoor dining area, 12 large tables with 4 chairs per table and they are not placed close together. The indoor dining room seems larger than other locations as well. I arrived around 11:45 am before the lunch rush and parking spots were a premium but a few were still available near the restaurant. The parking lot shares itself with other businesses and buildings nearby. Most people stood in line (there was a sign where to line up if you came in the side door through the outdoor seating area) to order from the five cashiers at the counter. There is an option to go ahead and sit down at a table and use their app to order but I didn't see anyone choosing that option. The line moved very quickly since there were five cashiers separate from the To Go area. I discovered their Classic Grilled Chicken Sandwich at the Columbus, IN location in April of this year and ordered it again today. I LOVE this sandwich. The croissant is light and fluffy. The grilled chicken is thoroughly cooked. I was never a fan of honey mustard until I tried it unbeknownst to me on this sandwich and now I'm a fan of the sauce if it's lightly spread which it is on this particular sandwich. I've never particularly liked mayonnaise so honey mustard is a great substitute and compliments the grilled chicken very well. Now I know why it is always offered as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders. The restroom was spotless and extremely clean. I was a little confused, where and how to order and the clerks were not very friendly or helpful. It has been a while since I have been to a McAllister's Deli, and always enjoyed their food and iced tea. Their ambiance is very nice and upscale compared to Panera bread. I have always been impressed with the service at McAlister's. They treat the customers right and with respect. The staff are very professional, friendly, and always willing to help you out with a suggestion on the menu. For dinner, I decided to try the home style lasagna soup and the pecanberry salad. Both were fantastic and very fresh! The lasagna soup was incredible and probably the best soup I have had in a while. The pecanberry salad was healthy and delicious. The vinaigrette dressing was perfect with the salad. The chicken on the salad was perfect and extremely fresh! I had the unsweetened iced tea to drink which McAllister's is known for their iced tea. It was refreshing and very good! The iced tea is amazing and highly recommended if you go to McAllister's. I'm not sure why the rating was so low??? Maybe the prior management? Maybe 1 bad order?? I've never really had anything bad from this location. I used to go all the time before the pandemic . When I went this particular day...rather slow due to the holiday but received the best service hands down! The new management team was dynamic to say the least. I go here because although it's a chain, it's locally owned, and all the businesses in this little pocket seem to be hurting for business. McAllister's is a good chain with a good selection of sandwiches, and this location recently got some nice renovations. However, it's still always empty. They have little to no advertising on the exterior, so each time I drive by, I wonder if they're even open anymore. It's honestly a shock they are. It's always so dead when I visit. The food is good but I'm giving two stars for the prices. $18 after taxes for a sandwich is insane. I know the local owner probably can't do anything about that, which is a bummer, but this will probably be my last time here. Pretty decent at getting the food you ordered to you but has a rude staff. Staff is younger my age Gen Z, very typical treatment from kids that aren't raised right. Got told today "what do you want" and pointed at the front register while my fiancée and I were waiting in the to go line for our food that was ready in the to go bin right behind her. Weird behavior considering we hadn't talked to anyone yet and didn't have a problem with the fact that they didn't help us right away or anything. I wish I could give zero stars. This McAlister's is near my workplace so I used to place pickup orders here often & take it back to work to eat. Not anymore after my experience today. I thought my veggie club tasted bad today, so after eating a couple of bites, I took off the bread only to discover a completely rotten avocado underneath. There is no way the person making this sandwich didn't notice this. Health inspectors need to check this place out asap. I wonder how many customers were also served completely rotten avocados today. Unacceptable. I called them immediately & they were very nice about it, but I was surprised that they seemed so unfazed about the extent of the rot. I came during lunch time- a peak hour, but I was doing takeout. I was there from 12:05 to 12:45 waiting in lines and for food. Chaotic, unfriendly service. I'd never been and I asked the cashier for the soups and he said "same as always" but they weren't listed on their printed menu. Always a solid lunch spot right off 96th and Meridian! I am amazed how long of a line this place can have, but they handle it really well. I usually get the taco salad and some other side - this time it was one of their spuds. The food was good as usual and I always appreciate any place that I can get in and out of in under an hour during a work week. If I have a choice I always prefer to go to a local spot, but every so often this is the quick spot that I know I'll still get a good meal. If you're a pickle or pepper fan - make sure to check out their pickle bar! Great to add to your meal. With that being said, 3-4 tables surrounding us were all piled with trash from previous guests. With it not being clean, it was a big turn off for me. If they were swamped with customers and busy, I'd understand but all the employees were standing in the back messing around. Even during our hour stay, they weren't cleaned. I went in there last night and as I was walking out a woman walked in and the employee behind the counter called out, "Hi Heather" to her. To which Heather replied, "I forgot my mask. Sorry." But she didn't turn around and leave. I got into my car and waited to see if she came out to GET HER MASK or if she got served. Guess what? She got served without having worn her mask inside the restaurant. I find this inexcusable. There is a state-wide mandate to wear a mask indoors at a business and there is a sign on the outside of the restaurant that a mask is required. If you forgot your mask in the car, then take your lazy butt back out and get it. If you forgot your mask at home then you might as well go home because there isn't any place that should be letting you enter. As someone who has been extremely careful during this mess, I expect businesses to uphold the mandate for EVERYONE. Employees are not allowed to choose who has to wear a mask and who doesn't. So my question is was this woman allowed to be served because she was a friend of the employee, an off-duty employee, or a regular customer? Or do they let everyone who "forgot" their mask come in anyway? None of these answers is acceptable. There is a reason that there is a mandate for everyone to wear a mask. I want to start by saying I actually really like McAlister's food, and especially the iced tea. But this location is truly terrible!! I have visited it twice (I assumed the first bad experience was just a fluke -- it was not!). The wait times and rudeness of the staff was unbearable. It took 30 minutes the first time we ordered and 40 minutes on our second visit to get our food. The service was bad and they are clearly understaffed. In addition, the manager was rude when we mentioned that the wait time was pretty long when he asked us how the experience was! Never again. I am confused by the last review. This most definitely is a sit down joint - not a deli. You might place your order at a counter, but then you have the choice of dining at either plush booths or marble tabletops. Both the menu offerings and prices are like the Panera chain. Frankly, it was more expensive than I would have expected given a suburban location in the midwest. But, since the food was delicious I suppose it would be worth a return visit. I ordered the Basil Chicken Parmesan Panini, with a side fruit salad to go. There is a special line for "to-go" orders, but as the associate there was over-the-top chatty, I would have made better time standing in the normal line. The fruit salad was average sided; about one cup worth of pineapple, honeydew, cantaloupe and grapes. The fruit was fresh, but only the pineapple had much flavor. The Basil Chicken Parmesan Panini was excellent however! I brought it back to a class I was taking, and it made the whole room smell fabulous. The basil-parmesan sauce really makes the sandwich. The portions are fairly large; again on order with Panera, so you can easily plan on eating only half and finishing it off for a mid-afternoon snack. read more

This is a tough one. I come here and return even when service is bad because it's so darn convenient and right next to where I work. The food itself for the price is awesome when compared to fast food. It's about the same price and much healthier. However the service is inconsistent at times and the food portions often times small and inconsistent. I would shy away from ordering nachos. The chili on top is NEVER hot not even warm really. My boss always has to ask for a dish or chili heated up. In regard to the portions, don't be afraid to push back. They do a good job of fixing and resolving issues with the exception of one red headed manager who has absolutely no concept of customer service and is rude to the bus staff. I love the place with one exception: they don't offer the broccoli cheese soup everyday. I always seem to crave it on the days they don't have. It's the bomb. And their spuds are crazy huge! I want to start this review by saying that McAlister's chain is one of my favorites. I love the food, the prices, and the sweet tea. Although all those wonderful experiences, my visit to this specific McAlister's was terrible. I ordered a Ceasar salad, cup of soup, and sweet tea. I got my sweet tea right away, grabbed a pickle and sat down with my friend. We waited about 30 minutes and our food still had not come out. I went up to the front desk and asked why, they responded that they were out of the soup we ordered so they had simply not brought our food. I still cannot understand why the didn't come ask us to pick a different soup, but they didn't. We ordered a different soup and sat down, another 10 minutes go by and no food. Finally I went to the kitchen and asked 3 different people to get the meals out. A 1 hour lunch break was quickly turning into potentially 2 hours. After standing there and watching them prepare our soup and salads they finally brought it to the table and apologized profusely. I appreciate that they tried to fix up everything for us and apologize, but that doesn't give me back the 40 minutes that they waited to finally prepare our food. I go to this McAlisters at least once a week on the weekends and today it was just not up to par. Almost every single table was dirty. And didn't look like anybody working there had any desire to get them cleaned, just all hanging out, talking to each other. My food was ok. Usually just is ok. I always get a spud max, my potato was soaked in black olive juice and had no meat on it, my sandwich which was suppose to be toasted was served on cold bread.
