A friend of mine and I went to McAlister's in Laurel recently for lunch and I ordered the choose 2 with the 1/2 Angus club and 1/2 bacon spud. My order finally came about 10 minutes after my friends order was served, she had ordered the exact same except items, however her order came with a whole Angus club instead of the half plus the half spud. I had also ordered tea with lemon and when I glanced at my receipt I noticed it listed "extra lemon" with a price of almost $2.00 plus an added thin dill spear which I did not order at a cost of almost $2.00. The food was good but if I go back I'll have to remember to specify no dill spear or lemon and pocket the almost $4.00 rip off additional items. read more

The service was very friendly, the dining room was cold. The food took a fair length of time to be prepared. I got a pecanberry salad and it was OK but not great. I've had so much better many other places and it was kind of expensive for what I got. I think it was the fat-free vinaigrette that really wasn't good. My friend had a sandwich which he enjoyed but they forgot his chips and it was to go order so we didn't go back for them. He didn't like his side of potato salad. We got a brownie and Blondie cup for dessert and the brownies were very good, but the Blondies were not good at all, totally tasteless. read more

Good location. Good parking. Nice interior. Seems clean. Food quality is reasonable. Prices are reasonable but when you order, they ask what side dish you want (as if it comes with the main meal). They don't mention you have to pay extra for it. You only realize as you pay that your side dish is an extra and over priced. Hope this helps. read more

I used to really like McAlisters. They have good taco salads, sandwiches, soups etc. Large portions, good taste and reasonable prices. Last week I ate at a McAlisters for the first time in several years. I ordered the taco salad. The price is close to what it used to be but the serving was smaller and the taste not quite as good. I noticed other people sandwiches and they also looked smaller. I use to think McAlisters was a 4. Now, I am struggling to give it a 3. Honestly to be fair I must give a 2 because I have had better and it used to be at Mc Alisters!!! read more

McAlister's is home to my favorite restaurant potato. I would highly recommend any of the potatoes. Their salads are very large and usually very fresh. Of course, their sweet tea is amazing. I would highly recommend the peach tea as well. This McAlister's has many personable and hardworking employees that always make the experience great. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it is a little expensive for a chain sandwich shop -- especially because a sweet tea is almost a necessity. Otherwise, I love this place! read more

Freezing cold dining room. Lackluster food. Has that straight out of a Sysco truck flavor. But on a Sunday in Laurel, it's slim pickings.

Food was pretty much up to McAlister's standards. Mac and cheese was cold. Masks are apparently Not required here. One employee had mask on under her nose, one had mask under her chin and rest had no mask at all, including the store manager. Most customers came in with no mask as well. read more

OMG!! I love this place! We are looking to move there so we took a drive. The town how is that Home Town feeling. We just happened upon McAllister's and decided to have lunch. Wasn't really expecting much, but man was this place good! The girl that took our order was so sweet. She told us all about her town. I fell in love even more! I had the BLTA and was in heaven! Nice people and relatively clean restaurant. 2 stars because two of the three sandwiches were made wrong. Meaning they had different ingredients than stated on the menu. Green peppers instead of roasted red peppers, no guacamole, no mayo., wrong cheese. This is the basics people. read more

Fact of the matter is, don't be a bonehead and come on Sunday after church, what you up expect, you heathen hypocrite?? No duh it's going to be packed?? Besides that, I've had a good experience here 5 out of the 6 times I've eaten here. I hate eating out, seriously, HATE it. But this place has my approval. Even if the girl behind the counter didn't tell me that she "put some extra lovin'" into my meal, which I could tell she did, I would have rated this establishment a solid 4 stars. The food is consistently good, but on my last two visits to pick up takeout they have not been complying with the local mask mandate (9/25/2020). This has been my experience every time recently from the pick-up window. Something in my order is generally missing or messed up. I usually let it go, rather than drive back to the store once I am home. I think what was disconcerting tonight, was the "Party at the pick-up window!" Yes, one of the 4 ..yes FOUR , staff members laughing and goofing around at the window area actually said that, before they saw me waiting for my order. When I arrived home and the salad dressing was missing (and the extra I paid for) and no crackers, and the salads were in cardboard sandwich containers and had spilled everywhere, I drove back in to Laurel and went inside. I was told they were out of the plastic salad containers, yet I could see them in the kitchen on a shelf, behind the counter. Then I was told it was because I had half salads, yet there were half salad containers also on the shelf, as well as half salads made and ready to be bagged for new orders on the counter in the regular plastic containers. And is it to mask or not to mask? 1/2 the employees wore masks; 1/4th had their mask hanging around their chins; the other 1/4th...no masks. I don't venture out much these days and only as a treat for myself and do not really want to go where folks at restaurants, handling my food, are not wearing masks....even to the pick-up window after seeing this. It really grossed me out to see one girl rub her nose then go back to bagging up items and getting tea for someone. Are the employees washing their hands? This one didn't. At that point I just left and went home and threw what salad I had tried to salvage away. Have not decided if I will eat the sandwich or not. Or if I will go back. Nobody in the kitchen has any urgency to complete orders, I had chicken salad sandwich and a New York sandwich, nothing else, and waited 30 minutes, me and my girlfriend had the only order in the restaurant other than two cars in drive through. Looking at the staff, people were huddled by the kitchen window talking to other workers. I saw my order in the window for a while with people talking over it, then when we received our order, my "hot" sandwich was room temp, and my girlfriend's sandwich had about a table spoon of chicken salad on it, never going back, very poor quality and service. I have been to several McAllister's now. This was actually my second time to this location in two days. I was really hoping my experience the previous evening was an anomaly and it would be better today. I was wrong. The staff here does not seem to care about the customer as I observed them standing around talking while three people waited in line to order. I had some questions about the menu and every time I asked the cashier something she responded with a heavy sigh as if answering any questions was woefully out of her job description. The hot sandwich was not hot and the coleslaw was, with no exaggeration, possibly the worst coleslaw have ever had in my life. I mean, I actually think it may have been spoiled the flavor was that bad. And shouldn't the Savannah chopped salad actually be chopped? If you're just looking for mediocre service and mediocre food than this mediocre McAlister's is the place to go. I know that when you place an order it goes to a call center and not the local restaurant. For the life of me, I can't understand how you can order tomato soup and they say they checked to make sure they had it, the order is repeated back to you for accuracy and then when you get home and it's too late to get it corrected, you actually have chicken tortilla soup.
